WK 3 - Thurs I didn't get checked in 8 hours in heat of 95 degrees as vendor in a farmer's market - too tired and not good for either of us!!

Wk3 Friday FBS down to 99 this morning!!! Blood pressure doing OK at 125/67 but wt up to208.2 from low of 206.4 Tues morning part of these chllenges is to survive whatever life is throwing at us as we go through them and right now the heat and hard work and trying to keep healthy hydrated through it all is a challenge - heart issues make me a bit more fragile regarding amounts of liquids ---congestive heart failure is NOT FUN!!! will just keep working the plan as best I can!!

Over planned calories 965 instead of goal 500 today but kept NetCarbs to 20 so smiling.
Low activity with very sore and stiff joints and may be still inflamed from Saturday gluten.

No exercise today; I didn't get good sleep last night. I have a box of 100-calorie packs of natural almonds for a snack at work and chicken salad for lunch. I also got some 0-calorie, 0-sweetener drinks this weekend. I'm done with the diet drinks with aspartame. I get addicted to those even though I know they are poison.

Checking in for week 3 my exercise program continues to be secondary to other diabetes goals of getting the carbs down and the fasting blood sugars down...my disabilities limit the exercise but still wanting to improve core and keep increasing my steps no matter how slow or painful they are so upping that goal another 100 steps to AVERAGE of 3200steps per day this week and three flights of stairs per day and got on the rebounder for 100"bounces this afternoon.

Saturday: 1031cal 36carbs 64 fats [32SatFats] 86proteins 18fibers 4650steps

First of all, thank you to LINDAF49 for the encouragement. Because of her supportive comment and because I am already up to Week 3 cardio minutes, I'm moving on to Week 3.

My plan for the week:
--do 4 days of at least 20 minutes of cardio and three days of toning with the resistance band.
--track food for three days
--have diabetic-friendly snacks on hand
--check in every day (except Sunday--might continue to take that day off)
--make sweet potato chili for lunches

Week 3 for me - 1/29 - 2/4 Rough start - I was down .5 lbs on Monday morning. Had a charity trivia night at a local pub with H's work. Not the best options for this. Still trying to identify good breakfast options. Cereal (Kashi-go-lean) spikes my bs too much. I'm finding that a snack first thing with more breakfast like meal later in the morning seems to work better. Goal this week is to nail down breakfast plan and get fasting number down further.

Week 3 for me Dec 15-22...
12/15 Checking in - Goal is to get carb #s down. Understanding them enough to know I want to aim at total carbs, not net. This is a down day in alternating day calories 500/1200 plan and stayed at 497Calories with just 13 carbs - this is do-able with using a commercial Atkin's shake for breakfast. Scales are not moving but I feel positive and learning.
12/16 Weekend of eating differently - goal of keeping SUGARS down - but carbs will be higher with some fruit that I usually don't eat on LOW CARB.
12/17 Wt stayed the same even with increased salt and sugars yesterday - step by step - ready for good week ahead and plan to allow some extras on Sun and Christmas
12/18 Wt the same - good study time on carbs and checking on a few foods - Convinced that a higher carb breakfast messes me up for the whole day - going to stick to heavy protein/fat breakfast, salad carb lunch with smaller protein and then protein and only berries if any fruit in the evening and see if that keeps me balanced and satisfied better through the day.
12/19 207# finally down 1# - Wonder5 if it will stay gone. Good day
12/20 206# -- wow a pound down two days in a row!!! That is encouraging... trying to still hope to be in ONEderland by first of year since I am afraid I will miss the Christmas goal.
***I just finished the readings for this week - I have been disappointed with the info thus far - I am getting much better info and encouragement on facebook group for LOW CARB - I don't like to complain but I really am disappointed.
12/21 First day of winter and back up one pound but stil claiming 1 down for the week
Tomorrow is on to week 4

No insulin this morning. Fasting number was 4.3. Lots of exercise yesterday. I am finding that I am needing less and less insulin in the morning and starting to reduce my dinner time dose as well. Controlling my diet, losing some weight and lots of exercise (regular (daily) that is) is having a major effect on my requirement for insulin. Things are definitely improving. I know that I am T2 for the rest of my life but I have it under control. My trends (BGL) are: Before Meal = 5.3, After Meal = 7.6, Average = 6.2. I don't think I can get much better than that!!

Getting into WK 3. My HbA1c got decreased from 6.9 to 6.8. Used to have 6.2 until a few months ago, so I am trying to do yoga-stretching stuff plus walking. Will continue this arrangement to see if my weight come off. May add more aerobics and toning to my daily routine.

With walking 30 minutes 4 days a week and stretching 45 minutes every night, A1c was 6.2 for about a year, so try to be consistent with this routine. Will see how it goes by WK 8.

Goal this week is to add 200 steps to my goal at least 4 out of 7 days this week. Also getting more regular with strength and toning exercises (doing 3 days a week.) On a good streak with logging food and water (138 days) emoticon just need to keep pushing myself to do a bit more each week.

I'm enjoying the weekly Zumba classes and on Thursday I'll get a "sneak peek" at a new class that will soon begin: Drum Fit. I'm also meeting my goal of 10,000 steps/day 6 out of 7 days. Never thought I'd be so competitive with myself!

I am finding new was to get more veggies. I am taking some of my favorite meals and adding different veggies. I like fried rice so I add a bunch of different veggies like peas and carrots, broccoli, corn, green beans and black beans. I also use balsamic Vinegar and Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce instead of soy sauce. I was surprised at how good it was.

I had to get up at 730AM yesterday and 630AM today. It was late before I feel asleep but still woke up and got up 5 minutes before the alarm went off. I felt more awake then I have in months. I really need to get into a good sleeping pattern so I will always feel rested.

Week 3 Day 1: ready to eat healthy and exercise more. For lunch had stew meat, onion, garlic, cabbage, canned tomatoes, tomato sauce, peas and carrots and beef broth all cooked together for 30 minutes. It was very good so I will have this again and add other veggies like broccoli and spinach for added flavor and fiber.

Wk 3, day 6 -- type 2 -- post breakfast is 216 -- I'm trying to figure this glucose stuff out -- normals are so much lower than that, yet my doctor isn't concerned -- must be something I don't know.

I have lost 7.4 lbs. since January 4th following the Diabetes Nutritional Plan here on SP. I have tracked my food and exercise every day for 21 days in a row. My FBS has gone from 135 to 123 this morning.

Last week I did 3 15 min. toning exercises and 4 20 min. chair cardio workouts.

I am looking forward to breaking 250 lbs. this coming week for my February 1st weekly weigh in.

Good luck all! Pam emoticon

Checking in. My am blood sugars are getting lower (new meds last checkup) and I lost another pound. Only one pound this week emoticon but at least I lost something. I guess I fell off the wagon a couple times this week so it's my own fault.
