Courtney - glad your back! - I did sign up for the Chrismukkuh virtual 5K too - (thanks for the heads up on this one) I really love these virtual runs!

Also signed up for the Virtual Walk/Run/Cycle thru US @ exercise.lbl.gov I need to have a target out there, hoping this helps.

I've been doing ok on my training, personal things going on and have been feeling a little down, I'm finding it too easy to put off training :(

here's hoping the Chrismukkuh virtual does the trick to motivate me. talk to you soon

Still haven't done any training since before my Trick or Treat Trot! Did do my Gobble Wobble and improved my time by a few minutes, but I think that had more to do with the lack of street lights than anything else.

Am going to do a Chrismukkuh virtual 5K (posted a topic on that if you want to join me), and would like to train a bit before that happens. Will probably have to go back a few weeks - will run in the next couple of days and see what I can still do. I'll keep you posted. :)

Hi I'm joining week 5 today, I am joining after finishing the walk/jog 5 week program and doing 2 days of week 4. It rained in Socal yesterday so I'm just going to jump in to week 5 day 1 because I've already done a week of these w2/j3 training exercises anyway

Courtney - - so glad your back! nice time on the Trick or Treat Trot, I'm shooting for anything under 60. things have been crazy busy for me with work and family; haven't trained since last Wednesday, I absolutely need to get back on track if I'm going to do a turkey trot! Saturday sounds like a great day to get back on track.

I did my Trick or Treat Trot 5K today, and finished with a time of 49:03. I'm pretty happy with that given that I haven't trained at all in the last two weeks.

So now it's time to get back on program, and keep training for my upcoming Gobble Wobble. I'm starting again on Saturday, with Week 5, Day 2.

How's everyone else doing?

:) Courtney

Definitely not ready. I've been in a bleh mood for the last week, which is taken a horrible toll on my exercise. (Or maybe not exercising took a terrible toll on my mood?) I think realizing that I wasn't going to be able to finish the training program in time to run the full 5K made me lose some enthusiasm for training. I haven't run since the 18th - a full week! Stupid, I know --

I'm going to try to get back into it and pick up in Week 5 again. My Halloween race is the 30th, and regardless of my laziness, I'm excited for the race and can't wait to tell you all how it goes!

And once it's over, I'm coming back here to finish the program and keep up my training for the November Turkey Trot I'm doing with my sister in the San Fran Bay Area.

:) Courtney

I feel the same way some days :) Some days are harder then others...this morning I had a wordrobe malfunction and it totally threw me off. Ha...oh well.

I am shooting for a 5K on Nov. 5th but I don't think I will be running the whole thing either, kinda stinks but it will just encourage me to enter another one and do better I guess. Your doing awesome~ keep it up.

I thought about giving up...but then I remembered why I started.

I honestly think I probably walk faster than I run. :P

Did W5D2 today - I wouldn't say it was easy, but it wasn't a killer either. I ended up doing an extra interval due to interruptions at the beginning of my run. I hate the idea of leaving Huckleberry behind during my training runs, but no matter where we are, it's easier without him. This seriously bums me out, and I need to figure out what to do.

Anywho, only 12 more days until the race. I'm pretty sure I won't be running the whole distance. This also bums me out, but I can only do what I can do. And it will give me a goal to focus on for the Turkey Trot I'm doing with my sister in November - keep training and make sure I can run the full 3.1 for that one.

I did W5D1 last night and it was great!

I love running down the sidewalk, saying excuse me as I dodge between tourists on Hollywood Blvd. :)

A had to cut a couple intervals short, as well as extend the recovery time once or twice, but I'm OK with that. I made up the time in the next interval when I could, and I also ran for a minute here and a minute there on my cool down walk home (about 20-25 minutes from where my run stopped).

In those last few minute runs, it helped that there were lots of people out and about. I pushed myself to not just run across the intersection, but to keep it up for most of the next block. There was also a huge line of people waiting for the doors to open for a concert at the Palladium, and I wasn't going to let them think I was just out walking. I ran past them to the end of that block - I'm sure they were all watching me and were totally impressed. :) Ha!

Anyway, doing well overall. Having a slight twinge in my lower back - same spot that I've had a twinge in for years now, but it's more noticeable with the running. This has convinced me not to try doing back-to-back days. Am also looking for exercises to strengthen my lower back and stretches.

Excited for tomorrow. Think I'll go early and try to avoid some of the ickster peeps at the park, and get a hike in afterwards. 30-35 minutes isn't usually enough for Huckleberry, and I'd like to push myself.
