I've actually tasted the cronut and it's delicious. Definitely knocks you off an eating plan/diet but it's really tasty.

I think what's important is that while most of that food seems strange and pointless, people follow trends. This is what's selling right now. Is it good? Hmmm, that's up for discussion but if you don't want to follow the trend, you should at least know which way it's going, especially if you're in the food industry.

I can't/won't judge what people enjoy eating and if one wants to eat a spaghetti burger, then have at it. I'm more repulsed by weird, cheese-laden casseroles and things that use condensed cream of crap as an ingredient. Even the word casserole brings up disgusting images for me, but I know many people love them. They can eat them, I won't.

I'm disappointed in Zagat for this.

Zagat labels these as "must try?" I wouldn't eat any of these on a bet.

Mexican Cheeseburger:

two small cheese quesadillas on corn tortillas for the bun
combined ground beef and chorizo patty
top patty with sliced green chilis

Irish burger:

ground beef patty topped with Dublin Cheddar and Irish back bacon on soft roll

Italian burger:

Why bother? A cheese meatball sub beats a regular burger any day!

Totally ridiculous, and gross-looking to boot.

Let me add a few more: The mac and cheese burger. Most of the fad burgers available today.

Land O' Lakes Saute Starters -- how hard is it to make compound butter at maybe one-fifth the price? Same for their "Half Sticks." If you're too lazy to cut a stick of butter in half, you deserve to be soaked for the premium price.

I imagine that most of you are familiar with this...but this is one culinary creation that I just cannot get behind: Spaghetti Burger (why?)
heres the link: www.delish.com/food/recalls-reviews/
sp
aghetti-burger

I'm normally not a party pooper when it comes to these types of things but this looks like a party poop. I love deconstructed food if...it works. I would rather deconstruct this spaghetti burger back to what it should be Spaghetti Bolognese, plain and simple.

So I ask: why do this? and more importantly why pay for this?
