For starters my goal is to be in bed by 10:30 p.m. and up by 5 a.m. with a focus of going to bed a little earlier each night until I can manage going to bed the same time my husband does- 9:15 (he gets up at 4:00). I would love to set the goal of sleeping clear through the night too, but it's hard to reach a goal you have little control over, so for now I'll concentrate on the ones I have control over and also limit my water intake past 7 p.m. and turn down the thermostat then see what becomes of it.

emoticon It's now 10:45 so- Night all!!

I'm a new Mom, my son is 10 months old. 2 months before he was born I developed insomnia so since then I have not had a lot of sleep. I goal is to get myself back on regular a sleeping schedule throughout the night. I don't think that I sleep 2 hrs. without waking up. My son is sleeping about 5 hours during the night before waking up so I'm hoping to get myself sleeping that long too for starters.

- spend some wind down time in bed to read

My schedule is always slightly skewed. I travel back and forth from the east coast to Alaska for work. There is a four hour time difference. So, by the time I'm adjusted to either eastern time, I'm headed back to Alaskan time.

I try to split the difference, and maintain a two hour time difference, but that doesn't really work either.

Clearly this is part of my problem.

I seem to be on a regular sleep schedule, but I do not seem to make it through the day without a lull in energy and wakefulness.
My goal is to track my sleep patterns and find the problem so that my sleep may be restful and in my daytime activities I will be alert and refreshed.

My mother told me that I NEVER wanted to go to bed - even when I was only couple of month old.
I get up at 6 every day - except on Sunday. Problem is that I don't put myself to bed ever before 11h00. Now I need 1 more hour of sleep, so here's my goal:
1-go to bed between 9 and 10 at least 5 days a week
2-keep track of how I'm doing

Thanks for reading !

My goal is to not take my worries to bed to me. Sleep is vital for health, and anxiously thinking about my responsibilities instead of sleeping just makes things worse.

I do have sleep apnaea but haven't been using my c-pap machine due to allergy-stuffy nose.
I need to get back to using it every night.
I have already made a conscious effort to get 8 hrs sleep each night.
I might have to drink a little less water so I am not waking up for a bathroom break.

My goal is to STAY asleep. I fall asleep within a 1/2 hour or less of laying down, but I seem to wake up off and on constantly for no reason! It is very frustrating!

I am new to this challenge, and I hope that in the end, I will get real decent sleep and be able to maintain that.

Insomnia is definitely an issue for me, so hopefully this challenge will help me get things back on track. Here are my goals:
1. In bed at 10:30, so hopefully I'll be asleep by 11:00.
2. Up by 6:30.
3. Depending on my work schedule, I'm going to try morning workouts instead of evening.
4. Keep a sleep journal, at least until this becomes habit.
5. Read before going to bed more often, instead of always watching TV.

Here are my goals:

#1 - Use 1/2 hour of time to unwind before bed reading a book or magazine - I sure have enough to occupy this time!

#2 - Do the above by 10:30 pm each weeknight so I can have lights out by 11:00 pm

#3 - Keep a sleep journal in conjunction with the journal I am keeping now for day-to-day needs.

Here are my goals:
1-Turn off the computer at 11:00PM. Let family know since they are the ones always saying just one more game or chat. We all play on a game site.

2-Use 1/2 hour to relax. No more than 1/2 of reading a book no matter how interesting. It will still be there in the AM.

3-Use my online journal to track sleep habits.

My daughter (she's 10)and I both have terrible sleep habits, so my number one goal is to set a better example for her and establish habits for both of us. It's hard to enforce a bedtime or wake time when I'm the one always doing "one more thing" before bed and then hitting the snooze button over and over in the morning.

Goals: Go to bed the same time every night (give or take 15 minutes) To do this I need to start chores and homework earlier in the evening so we're not scrambling to cram everything in when we should be in bed!
Stop hitting the snooze button. Those extra four minutes of sleep (multiplied by the number of times I hit the button) are not exactly refreshing anyway and it makes my whole morning rushed.
Learn relaxation techniques (yoga, hypnosis, music, whatever works!) so when I go to bed I'm not staring at the ceiling.
And the goal I'm dreading most but know is most important: break my daughter of the habit of sleeping with the tv on. I know it's awful - a habit we started when I first got divorced and she was in preschool and I thought it would be temporary. So this week, I'm going to set the sleep timer on the tv and allow it to be on for 30 minutes after she goes to bed (currently it stays on all night; told you it was bad!). Next week I'll start the new habit of going to bed with no tv. Maybe I'll teach her one of the new relaxation methods I learn! Or maybe we'll get into a real bedtime routine - reading out loud or to ourselves and then praying together. The changes will be good for both of us!

My Goals:

1.) To not wake up and worry about things in the middle of the night that are out of my control.

2.) Listen to soothing music before bed or a little bit of Yoga! Yoga always helps me unwind and sleep better!

3.) (This will also be a challenge for me) Getting up at the same time every morning instead of laying in bed...

I'm just me being me!

Just looked over the team goals for week 1, and I've now taken the quiz (10/10... BUT a realization that I don't always DO the things that help-- especially the regular bedtime aspect.... which is not helped by a VERY erratic *husband's* sleep schedule!

Made my first 'sleep journal' entry, using my SparkPeople planner journal (what a wonderful tool!!!)

Plan so far: be *in bed* by 11:30pm, with teeth brushed by 10:30pm, a mild exericse time starting at 10:30pm (including relaxation and prayer at the end), and a nice dark bedroom, and evening *prayers*

ALSO-- am committing to waking up *to my 6:00am cellphone alarm* each morning this week... I'm usually VERY good about this, but after a week sleeping outside in our 'Sukkah' (Jewish fall festival...so sort of like 'camping out', without my phone alarm...), I'm a bit 'off schedule', and this morning slept in an extra half-hour.

Overall goal in the challenge is to give rest importance in my life - to truly value and appreciate it.

I just joined so havent started anything like journaling. I already track all my food in the tracker and quit soda completely. Not a tea drinker so I really have no caffeine intake. My main problem is vivid dreams. They are soooo real that I catch my self throwing off the cover and getting out of bed to do stupid stuff like dishes or laundry. Its not like I didnt already do them during the day. I also have back and sciatica pain that come and go. So I am in the habit of taking a muscle relaxer and a 8oo mg ibuprofen before bed just so I get knocked out completely. No pain and there are no dreams. I have tried visualization and relaxation techniques to no avail. Really hoping I learn something here that helps. I do keep normal sleep/wake times most times. In bed by 11 up by 8. Just aggravated.

I would like to take sleeping pills less often, only 3x a week. That's a pretty big leap for me because I've had chronic sleep problems since I was a teen. I would like to sleep enough and well enough that I'm less depressed, stressed and exhausted every day. I'm tracking those in my sleep diary.

My Week 1 Goals are:
1. To go to bed by 11pm each night.
2. To wake feeling refreshed at 7am, and not go back to sleep.
3. To not feel exhausted in the afternoons at work (desk job - hard to stay awake when you're so tired!)
