My dogs and I walk almost every day in the park that backs my house. I need to buy a pedometer, so I can track my miles.

Today is the first day of the rest of your life

I am joining you on this goal! My two dogs love walks, and I generally do it every morning, but not for a mile. I will set a new goal to walk a mile or more daily.

Thanks all!

I walk my fur faces in the morning here in West Texas. It gets so hot later in the day. We are maybe 3 houses away from home and Checker (boxer) is already trying to steal drool from Sadie(mini Aussie). After a mile Checker is ready for home. But they look forward to our walk and so do I .

Count me in! Better late than never! Odie and I usually do about 1 mile every morning. I will just have to kick that up a little and fill in after work if need be! They are the best piece of exercise equipment there is. emoticon

Great to know so many people set this as a goal. We can't let our best doggie pals down. I recently gave myself a goal to walk my dogs at least 20 minutes every day. I've got 6 days straight, and have been walking 35 minutes to 45 minutes; once I get started, I want to keep going. Today we walked for over an hour. I'm having to get up earlier and earlier as it gets hotter so we can walk before things heat up too much. emoticon

I'm late to the game, but love the goal. Just did about a mile with my mini-pinscher (1/2 hour) - he was breathin' hard - it's about 90 and very humid. We do more like 2 miles when it's not so hot out!

The weather kept us in the yard the past few days. Today we made up for it with a 3.1 mile walk emoticon Now she is sleeping on my foot, so I guess I am stuck on the computer for a while!

I have 2 dogs who will not let me rest until they go for a walk. This is the best motivator there is.
They keep me accountable for my daily exercise.
2 miles a day for sure.

I walk my dog Sparky every day. He won't let me NOT walk him. Every morning he waits outside my bathroom door. He knows when my shower is done its time for a walk. And every day when I get home from work, another walk and usually its the longest walk. We have a lot of nice trails to walk here. He's like my own personal trainer except for the fact that I have to clean up after him on our walks. He's 11 years old and if it weren't for us walking he would be a cripple. He is a shepard mix and has hip dysplasia so walking keeps him limber too. So its a win win situation for both of us! So we do at least a mile every day of the year!

Just got back from my 2ed 3 mile walk. We walked out to Slick Ass Ranch. Yes that is the name of the ranch. We don't go that way often.

I have a 1.5 year old 50 pound Golden Lab/Shepherd. We both prefer cooler weather, and really enjoy our walks right now. Not sure if either of us will feel the same when it gets warmer. Will probably have to switch to shorter walks more often then.

Speaking of walks...it's that time!

I walked Mutt 6 miles yesterday.

You are right, a dog is the best exercise equipment you can have. Mutt is a very active dog. He would much prefer 2 6 mile walks to 2 3 mile walks, but I don't have that kind of time. It was recommenced to me that he carry a backpack with a lb on each side. Now much your dog carries depends on how big and what kind of dog you have. Mutt is 60 lbs and even though he is a mutt we know a good part of him is a working dog.

My dog is SUPER active. We walk anywhere from 1-6 miles quite often. I return home exhausted, and she runs around the yard the rest of the day chasing squirrels, birds, chipmunks.....you get the idea! Sometimes I think dogs are the best exercise equipment someone could ever want!

Tonight after supper we had a nice 1.5 mile walk emoticon

Alrighties, this will be awesome. Just check in every time you do a mile on here and place it on your fitness tracker. If we skip a mile one day, we can add it to another day's walk. I just really want to get in at least 7 miles per week.

Yay! I'm sooo glad someone wants to join in :). lol I totally understand you! I have a yellow lab and he's a crazy baby too, but he's an apartment dog right now so we need all the exercise he can get so that he's not as wild indoors. If it helps, I'd recommend getting him a harness. They're not that expensive at all, I got my pups at PetSmart and it's adjustable up to 100 lbs. so I'm sure it'll work for you all.

I'm down! I really am trying to schedule walking my dog, I'm just a little gun shy right now, because on our last walk I was using a martingale collar, do you know they can slip right out of those? I didn't, but my dog figured it out, ran after another dog, then into a busy intersection! He's going back, though I hate it, to his choke chain(not the one with the spike) collar, until I can find an alternative that the brat won't figure out how to get off! But, he's got a big butt, like me & we need to walk!

I've been walking my doggy Harley a mile a day for the last week and we both feel great. It's also helped with my weight loss. This week I lost 4 lbs. I want to continue doing this the whole summer and was wondering if anyone wanted to do the same and keep track.

We can get ourselves and our pets in shape one mile at a time, one day at a time.

I'm going to start to keep track starting today by creating a map route for a walk around our neighborhood and logging it on my fitness tracker, you can do the same.

Anyone up for this?
