I haven't found weather bad enough that Dex doesn't want his walk. He LOVES to be outside. It's a real test for me now. January is when it gets really cold in TN. Dex gets impatient waiting for me to put on my layers to go out, lol. This is our first winter together. It should be interesting!

My mother bought this thing called a Paw Plunger--it looks like a huge travel mug with soft bristles inside it. You fill it partway with water and when the dog comes in from outside either muddy pawed or with snowballs in its toes, you just plunge their paw in this thing and it comes out CLEAN! It really works--you have to dry their feet afterward, but the mess of muddy paws or the time consuming taking-off-of-snowballs is gone. I love this thing!

My kirby will walk outside, doesn't like the coat i got for him. haven't gotten booties, because Hubby says "NO"! LOL. if snow gets in between kirby's paw pads, he lifts his paw up until i wipe the snow out. usually, we can do our regular 30 minute walk. Kirby prefers the snow to hot, humid weather.

WOW! That is great that you get out there even though it is that cold!

I recently change my exercise routeen because it has gotten down to 40 where I live and that is too cold for Chi's. OK, me to but I am a Southern California wuss!

They're talking snow here on Thursday into Friday, but not much. We managed to have a white Christmas this year, thanks to the good snow we had the week before (over a foot of snow--woo hoo!), but it's all gone now, except for where the snowplows shoved the snow along the highway. I LOVE the snow, but I wish there was a way that it would only snow on trees and lawns, and stay off the roads and driveways!!

Also agree, could send you some snow!! Though we had a Green Christmas this year, you would never be able to tell that by the amount that is on the ground now!

I was also wondering if you had booties/warm clothing for the Rotti. I know our guys fair pretty well in the cold weather, but they have the double coat so are more meant for it.

I just bought a snowboogieboard at WalMart on Sunday--now all we've got to do is have a good snow! Last year Laurie & I took the "girls" to my niece Nikki's house--she has a GREAT hill! I don't know who had more fun--us humans or the dogs!

Do you have a coat and boots for your rottie? That might help him stay a little warmer outside for his walks (as long as YOU can stand the cold!). I can't wait for the days to get a little longer--right now I leave for work when it's dark and get home when it's almost dark. I won't take Lily for a walk in the dark because of coyotes--I've heard them, not seen them, but it scares the heck out of me!

I was able to take my sweet boy for his walk today for the first time in days. It was slightly warmer today(-9 degrees celsius and a windchill factor making it feel like -16 degrees celsius). I'm so proud of my rottie because he really was a trooper. He does love to walk but if it's too cold he lets me know by raising his paws or he'll have an uneven gait. When he does this I simply turn around and take him back home because he is so enthusiastic about his walks and he'll go in most weather conditions. He didn't complain once and we were able to go for half a walk (1/2 hour rather than an hour). Despite the cold, it felt great to get out for a walk.

I am also very happy because I met my nutrition and fitness goals today. I would still like to get some yoga in and I'm going to go do that now.
