I bought a huge jug of white vinegar for $2.29 at the supermarket and a pretty green spray bottle for $2.79 today, and made my first batch of this veggie wash. I used it on some Bing cherries I bought at Sprouts and you cannot taste any vinegar once you rinse the produce. By the way, they did look beautifully clean and shiny! I should be able to make this wash for at least 6 months with this one big jug of vinegar. Considering a spray bottle of commercially produced veggie wash costs just under $5, I think this is a great deal! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

By the way, we use a mixture of white vinegar, alcohol, and water on our laminate flooring and it works just as well as expensive commercial cleaners. emoticon

Thanks Carol......

.Not too long ago I came across a solution with vinegar and water to rinse your berries in and it keeps them for weeks longer......used it with blue berries and raspberries. I now have forgotten the ratio but when I find it I will send it along. Vinegar is wonderful.

I gargle with it when I have a sore throat as well..

Have a good on

I can't afford those expensive store-bought fruit and veggie washes so I did some looking and found this homemade wash that is cheap to make and effective. Thought some of you might be interested in having this info

Want to use a fruit and vegetable wash, but scared off by the price? Here's how to make your own at a fraction of the price:

What You Need:
White vinegar
Water
A spray bottle

What You Do:

For Hard-skinned Fruits and Vegetables:

1. Fill a spray bottle with equal parts white vinegar and water.

2. Then, spray the solution onto your fruits and vegetables; rub it in; and rinse.

For Soft-skinned Fruits and Vegetables:

1. Fill a bowl with equal parts white vinegar and water.

2. Then, soak your fruits and vegetables in the solution for a minute or two, and rinse.

Why This Works

The acetic acid in vinegar kills bacteria and helps to dissolve the wax and pesticide residues found on the skins of many fruits and vegetables.
Benefits of Making Your Own Fruit and Vegetable Wash

cheaper than store-bought washes
cleans more effectively than water alone
all-natural

Tips and Warnings

1) Use a scrub brush to work the solution into the skin

2) Store your fruit and vegetable wash out of the reach of children

3) Always label the contents of your spray bottles

Happy eating
