I just use the dried ones from Ocean Spray. That's what I use in my cooking and with nuts and in oatmeal and other things like that. My kids love them on a whole wheat mini bagel with cream cheese.

Good luck with your recipes. I used to buy the fresh and then freeze them hoping to make something but just didn't make much other than hot cider.

Sorry, I'm not much help.

Tiamet2 is one of my favoite ways to have cranberries. I make this up and use it often. Hubby says he will not eat cranberries, but I cook a pork loin and put this on the side and he laps it up. I have also made this with some fresh pineapple which is really good

Keep on track

Put some cranberries, sliced apple, a peeled orange and some nuts into the food processor. You can put in some sweetner if you like it. I often put in cinnamon as well. It's great with yogurt, with meat and can be used on a sandwich with turkey or chicken.

I have a recipe for cranberry apple bread (although I double it and make it as a coffee cake). It has very little sugar and also low cholesterol. The apples add sweetness naturally so there isn't a lot of extra sugar.

My favorite use for cranberry is as a drink. I buy 100% cranberry juice, no sugar added, (Trader Joes). Then dilute it 1 part cranberry to 8 parts water. I keep a pitcher in the fridge at all times and this is the only thing my husband and I drink! Is is super refreshing, you get your hydration and the added benefits of cranberry juice (there is a lot of research out there). If it is too tart for you at that dilution you can play with the proportions. I have found that once I got used to the tartness I actually prefer it a little stronger!

Thanks a million!

NCSUE0514, I haven't used stevia as the article I read suggested it does not hold up under cooking temperatures.

Here's the link to the SparkPeople article. I thought it seemed like a very balanced article.

Worth a try - thanks for the idea.
Have you also used stevia? Not sure what to do with that exactly...

OK. I'm going to open myself to some shots here, but so far as I can determine (from reading here on SparkPeople), you can replace sugar with half as much Splenda in pretty well all recipes. (Somewhere here on SparkPeople there is an article on sugar substitutes . . . )

I absolutely adore fresh cranberries in recipes and just bought a healthy bunch. Unfortunately, most of the recipes I've had in my pre-SP days are heavily laden with sugar. Can you guys share some great recipes using FRESH cranberries that are lower in sugar/calories?/
