How does your garden grow?

I so wish I would have started a teeny garden this year! I live in Houston and it won't hit colder weather til another month, but thanks to all the info and tips I'll be ready to go next year! Very interested in jalapenos, spinach, tomatoes, maybe broccoli since I always buy it frozen. Any suggestions just visit me on my spark page :)

I have over two dozen bell peppers. I picked four yesterday and am waiting until the end of the week to pick the rest. I plan to stuff and bake mine, then freeze.

Still have underdeveloped beets & carrots in the raised bed. Hopefully the frosts won't affect these until they are mature.

I went out last weekend and picked all the peppers and tomatoes because of a frost warning. I have a lot of tomatoes that are ripening slowly. I need to freeze peppers before they grow old. I am storing them in the fridge until I can get to this task. I need to check the garden in a few days.

Need to can my 3rd batch of tomatoes tomorrow. My second planting of green beans will be ready to pick by the end of the week. I thought the broccoli was done but found more side shoots this afternoon. My pepper are only the size of golf balls but that is my fault I planted them where they did not get enough sun. Second planting of carrots have a ways to go and the beets can be done anytime. Busy, busy and the freezer is getting full.

Finally got to pick my green bell peppers. Tomatoes are mostly green so I figure I will need to pick them and let them ripen in the house since we are looking at our first frost this week. Hoping it will hold off until the brussel sprouts are a little bigger.

I have really enjoyed my first garden this summer and can't wait to do it again next year.

I have been picking tomatoes and green peppers! The beans are gone!

With all the rain we got, I was unable to plant anything new,but continues to reap Cherries,plums and Guavas. During the pass week I made several batches of Guava Jelly..Had to destroy the beans because they just grew and grew leaves and more leaves no "fruit set" because of all the rain. No beans. Shortly i will be planting some lettuce ,pumpkin and sweet potato ,they should do much better now that the rains are not so frequent,

My bell peppers and hot peppers died a couple months ago. Bugs and bunnies got them. :( I did get quite a few hot peppers out of them, though.

Doing lots of freezing and canning. Even with all the rain here in Northeast PA the garden is doing great. We were lucky and did not have flooding in our neighborhood. Prayers for all the people who were flooded.

Now that I cut down the okra (which was great in July!) the tomatoes are kicking in. Also we are still getting plenty of Swiss chard. I've been picking the older leaves and the younger ones in the center just keep producing! Green beans have finally started producing now that the horrible Japanese beetles have finished their mating season (now I just have to worry about the larvae eating roots and stems!). My small garden has produced enough for me and Scott to eat all summer, plus a few good dinners with kids and friends! I hope to keep it going a while this fall, with the help of some Visqueen!

Waiting for the tomatoes to ripen but have put some stuff in the freezer. Eating a lot of cucumbers and squash and lettace. Corn should be ready to eat in a few days. And the weeds are very plentiful!

I have had a few ripe tomatoes, a few green beans but the leaves are being eaten by beetles, a few peppers. It has been hot and dry here. Our corn fields are really suffering!

Rained yesterday and today, just what the garden needed. Been harvesting and replanting some things. Cucumbers, beans, squash, lettace, chard, beet greens are plentiful. Waiting for tomatoes, corn and broccoli.

Japanese beetles are attacking my green beans. Otherwise all is going well. Starting to get some ripe tomatoes. Time to replant lettuce, chard, and carrots.

No rain again so we had to water again tonight. Garden is doing so good that watering is not a problem. Ate a handful of cherry tomatoes today. They were delicious right off the vine and warm from the sun. Yummy.

My cucumbers and tomatoes will be ready soon. Sugar peas and wax beans, along with chard, lettuce, lambsquarters, and other greens are still going strong. Peppers are setting on. I love summer garden time!

I have 6 tomato plants and 2 chive plants in containers. One tomato plant is a sugar snap that grows small orange cherry tomtoes, we have munched on a couple of those already. Looking forward to toasted tomato sandwiches! Yummy!

Planted my first garden this year in raised garden boxes. Nothing is ready to pick yet since we have such a short growing season and could not plant anything until the second week of June.

Picked peas today. Had a salad for lunch with the lettace and cucumbers from the garden. Will be picking beans in a couple of days. Will be thinning the beet greens tomorrow. Everything tastes so much better fresh from the garden.

Lots of lettuce, tomatoes and weeds, green beans are slow and few.

It is my first garden and it is doing well. Next year will be greater

We are loving our garden this year. It had a rough start but everything is taking off. We haven't been able to pick yet but within a week we should have cucumbers ready. We planted Zucchini, Cucumbers, Green Peppers, Celery, Cauliflower, Yellow Squash, Tomatoes, and Rosemary. We also started strawberries for next year's picking!

tomatoes are doing well--as well as lettuce- in my garden--- gooseberries too!

My raised bed is great! Tomatoes are coming along but still need to get ripe. Ditto for the green beans, carrots, peas, cucumbers, and most of the peppers. I have a few jalepenos ready and dh had one with dinner:) Also made a salad with some of our Romaine lettuce. Our first batch of radishes are done.I planted more radishes, carrots, lettuce, and spinach the other day for fall. Have seen a few things I will do differently next year...like give our tomatoes way more room:)

Garden is doing great. Lots of lettace, radishes, peas, beet greens and swiss chard. Strawberry bed is about done and am waiting for the tomatoes, peppers and corn.

My poor garden. The bunnies & critters have been feasting on everything so there's not much left.

The one's in the pots on the patio are growing and need to be thinned out. Maybe when it cools down later. Right now it's blazing hot.

My green beans are done. I am working on my tomatoes.

We have attempted our first garden this year and planted tomatoes, mixed colored bell peppers, mixed hot peppers, poblano peppers, green onions, beets, lettuce, patty pan squash, and zucchini. My herbs were going good until they got knocked over twice and the overwatered. I'm not sure I can save them.

I've got tomatoes, peppers and some volunteer herbs from last year.

Pregnant this summer so will try to garden next year!

Great baby veggies...my granddaughter's favorite food right from the garden...she heads out as soon as her dad gets home from work to pick them for dinner.

Wish I had room for a larger garden. I only grow tomatoes, peppers & herbs but it helps!

That is awesome! Nothing better than fresh and grown by you!! I envy you - I have a very
persistent groundhog that will never share with me - so I gave up this year!!

I planted a small intense garden this year, and I've been eating out of it for 4 or 5 meals a week. Soon I'll be flush with tomatoes, peppers, okra, carrots, beets, kohlrabi, squash, and pumpkins. In the meantime, I have lettuce, chard, kale, and lambsquarters for greens on a regular basis.
