I buy steel cut oats from Whole Foods Market bins. Add-ins include one tablespoon of oat bran and 10-15 raisins or fresh apple pieces. When done, I stir in a half teaspoon of Promise fat free spread to seal the flavor!

I like the idea of adding flax to oatmeal, but how much?? Just curious as I overdid it and it ended up being pretty gross. Also, blueberries and flax added to whole wheat pancakes come out pretty good.

I make mine the night before with more water, then I put in the fridge. In the morning it soaked up all the water and it's very creamy. Then I add whatever I like, pumpkin puree, cinnamon, etc...

You can save the microwave mess by adding boiling water to rolled oats and covering for about 10 minutes. Same great taste, no boil over and no cooked on mess. Stir in favorite fruit or peanut butter powder for extra protein.

I like to add flax to oatmeal, too. And blueberries I bought fresh and then froze (they thaw quickly).

I love oats for breakfast too. I use a larger bowl because of boil over and add flax. Yummy in the tummy.

I make old fashioned (gluten free) oats by nuking for 1 minute and 10 seconds (any longer and it boils over in my microwave). when it's done, I add 1-2 spoonfuls of honey and 3-4 chopped up strawberries. Oh so yummy!
