Well it is December 30th, and I am still chugging along, I have been working out everyday which is great, but I have not been keeping track or my intake which really sets me back. I have to do both if I want to see results. This is going to be a new year and I must push my self past my comfort zone. My knees have been hurting a lot and I know it is due to this 60 pounds that is holding me back.

So for this week I must get back into
1. Recording what I eat ( when I do I make much better choices)
2. Push my workout harder ( using my HRM and Increase HR over 155)
3. Burn over 1000 Calories during my workout
4. Do not eat after 8pm (this has been my down fall over and over again)

Now since I have my lap top, I am able to log on daily and record my activities.

Well this is my short term goal for this week, I will check in on Saturday, January 5th.

Well what is your short term? Please let me know.

This week's goal: stay steady with my food and exercise all week, because last week was all over the place with the holidays.

Well I am back again, I find that if I am not doing part of my routine then I am just off track. so here it goes;

1. No eating after 8pm, this is so hard for me but I have to dig deep. Weight loss for me is 80% controlling my eating and 20% workout in order to loss weight.

2. Must commit to my work out twice per day. I need to wake up in the AM to do my P90X, I really like this work out series, I did the 12 weeks before and will do it again, but I need to control my eating

So Spark Members what is your short term goals?

Wow I have been away for a while and I have fallen off track. too many things happen, Sandy Storm, vacation and just off track. But I will be on track again. I cant let all my hard work go in vain. My birthday is in Feb so that is a goal of mine to be in the low 200's by then.

Must track and I must exercise.

Hi all. I'm new here, and new to tracking calories, so my short term goal is to get accustomed to using SP and to stay within my nutrition goals for the next week.

Hello Spark Members - What Is Your Short Term Goal?

Well I am on Phase 3 week 11 of my P90X. Well I am happy that I am sticking with the work out. I do know that working out is a part of my routine, I miss it and get disappointed when I do not do it, and I try my best to fit it in my day, even when I don't do it at 5am. This is still my struggle to wake up at 5 am and do work on time.

Well I have had a set back with my weight the last 2 - 3 weeks. I have been struggling again with my eating after 8pm. In addition I have been eating too much of bread like pastries. I just cant stop the eating. I need to get a better hold on this behavior.

So my goal for this week to watch what I eat; limit the sweets. Do not eat after 8pm. I do so much better when I follow these steps.

Hello Spark Members "What is Your Short Term Goal?"

Well I am on my week 9 of my P90X. I cant believe I am on week 9, I am really sticking to this work out regiment and I am enjoying it. I look forward in doing my exercise and this really works for me. My biggest problem is getting up by 4:30 -5am to do my exercise.

I have 4 more weeks to complete this program and I really need to push hard. I don't think I worked as hard in month 2 as I did in month 1. I saw a big difference in my measurements with my first month. The second month I did not see any changes, also I did not measure myself. I know that my rings are much looser and it slides off with not efforts and so is my bracelet.

I know that the inches are great but I need to see the number on the scale. I am dying to be in "One-derland" again. And I am 18 pounds away.

I really need to watch my intake, I know that is my down fall, I do well and then at times I fall. But I just have to continue. when I do not eat after 8pm, I do so well. This has be become a part of me just like how my workout is now a part of me.

So My goal for this week - No eating after 8pm. I really need to try and stick to this

Workout hard this week - push my self during my exercise, get out of my comfort zone.

Hello Spark Member - What is Your Short Term Goal?

SMMARTINI - great to see your "short term goal". Logging your food is a big thing for me. When I log It keeps me accountable and help me plan what I put in my mouth regardless if I go over my limit or not.

Well this is my rest week or week 8 of my P90X. I am happy that I found a "Bring It team" on Spark to support me in this work out series. I am enjoying the work out I am just not enjoying the 5am time to do my work out, but once I am in it I am good.

This is week I will continue to do my work out and really put my all in it. I have been exercising every morning 6 days, and at least 4 times at night. This my increase as I go to the gym in the afternoon and do a class, I do enjoy the Spin and Kick boxing class.

I have been controlling my after 8pm eating, I do have some slip ups every now and again, but I am holding strong. Plus my weakness for cookies etc gets the best of me some times, but I am still continuing my journey.

Goals for this week;

I will be to work out with intensity I most push my self out of my comfort zone!

Record my eating "if I bit it, right it"

No eating after 8pm.

Well I logged all my food and exercise for the remainder of last week. But I didn't get the extra workouts in like I wanted. But since this is a new week, I will just start over. My new current goal is to log all my food and exercise for this week, AND make my fitness goal for calories burned this week.

Have a great week!

OK, as you can see at the bottom of my post, I did figure out how to add the ticker. :) So, I reached a goal!! And even that small step feels awesome!

My new current goal is to log all food and all exercise for the remaining week. And since I haven't posted any exercise until today (Thursday) I will have to do a few extra workouts to burn my weekly goal in the 3 remaining days of this week. (so that is the second part of my goal) I have some time off from work so it shouldn't be a problem.

Fay,

I saw you post on a different forum where you talked about short term goals. That makes so much sense! I just HAD to come check out your forum.

I have been wading around SP for some time, but wasnt getting much out of it. I would sporadically log my food and exercise, (and also the weight gain) :( But today I told myself that I needed to spend the time to find something new about this site. And I found your post! So....

My current short term goal is: to learn more about this site and start using it to my advantage, I hope to figure out how to put some info in the little box on the left AND to get a little weight loss bar along the bottom of my posts. :)

Thanks for the inspiration!

Hello Spark Members - "WHAT IS YOUR SHORT TERM GOAL?

Today I completed my Kenpo X, of my P90X Lean Program, I had a good work out. I should do my Yoga X but I did Kenpo, I will try and do yoga tomorrow. I'm starting my week 7 on Monday, this is going to be very challenging as I have to get up at 5am to do my workout because school is back in session and we have 3 teens to get off to school. But I have to keep on as I am very excited about reaching this far and I would like to complete week 12. Also, others have noticed that I have lost weight so it is nice when people say " You have lost weight!" :-D

I have to be mind full of my eating, pick good choices and not eat after 8pm.

I need to set up my spark page, but I will get there. Anyway for the next week I am going to really work hard and "Bring It"

What is your short term goal? Let me know.

So I am happy to report that I took my pictures after one month and I can see a difference. I have lost 3 pounds and inches all over my body. I am happy with the results and this has given me the fuel to continue.

So I started Phase 2 this morning. I felt tired but I pushed on as I kept thinking about my before and after pictures so far.

Hello Spark Members - What is Your Short Term Goal?

So Since I have been doing my P90X, I have now reached my week 4 of Phase 1. I have never completed up to phase 1 before and I am very thrilled. I will take my pictures tomorrow and will let you know of the results.

I even completed a full Yoga X. It really was not bad as when I tried it a few years ago. It was manageable. I have to do it on Saturday or when I have time as it is 1:30 mins long and I do not have that time in the AM. I barely have 60mins for the regular work outs.

As I go into the next 4 weeks, I need to push my self and come out of my comfort zone. Once I feel the resistance I don't do any more reps I just stop, I need to go on and do just one or two more.

I start Phase 2 week 1 on monday, and I am excited about pushing play.

Hello Spark Members - What is your short term goal?

so I am happy to report that I am in my week 4 of P90X. I have never made it this far before and I am proud of myself. I am still not a fan of Yoga X but I will get more into it as time goes a long.

Today I did Kenpo X and I will try to get the Yoga X in tonight. I don't know what my weight is but I do feel my rings on my finger loose. I am just happy to keep it up and don't let anything stop me right now.

Hello Spark Members - What is Your Short Term Goal?

Today I did Cardio X and I skip through the yoga section, I am really not a fan but I hope I get into it before the end of my 90days.

I did not do my two work out today and I did not stick to not eating after 8pm. I had a long and hard day at work and it got the better of me.

We tomorrow is another day, and I will do better. How are you doing on your short term goal?

Well I did Kenpo today. It was a great work out. I like this one, i did not have time for Yoga X, i have to leave that for Saturdays when I have more time. Plus I am not a fan of Yoga X, but I will get there.

My husband did Kenpo X with me, it was great as i feel I work harder when someone is working out with me. Last night I completed my ABS section and my daughter did ABS with me, she really pushed me. I could not do all the move, but I did my best and forget the rest!

I can feel my legs burning this is a great feeling.

Hello Spark Members - What is your short term Goal?

Well for me this is starting my week 2 of P90X! I did the Core Synergistic today and it was hard in some of the areas. I did what I can, as I figure as the more I do this the better I will become.

So my goal for the next 90 days will be to check in on how I am doing on my P90X exercise.

Hello Spark Members - How are you doing on your short term goal?

I went to the gym this morning for my kick boxing class. I am really a class person, but I think I am also going to incorporate work out DVDs in my twice a day work out. I am going to start the P90X. So my short term goal is seeing how much I can do daily.

I just need to keep it moving. Plus I am really enjoying the exercise :) I actually miss it if I don't do my exercise.

Mrsrhawkins - congrats on your weight loss. it is great when you see the results.

30 pounds lost that is a great!!! Continue with the exercise, that is what works for me, plus watching what I eat.

So my short term goal is to continue with my work outs, push my self out of my comfort zone and burn 1000 Cal per day.

This morning I spin, and I will spin again this afternoon (too much spinning LOL).

Hello Spark Members, What is your short term goal for today or this week?

Mrsrhawhins - thanks for the words of encouragements. How are you doing on your short term goal?

Well today I did a total body work at my gym. When I first started this class I could not jog around the gym for long and now I am. this is really a high for me. I stuck with my work out and now I am feeling my muscles, this is such a great feeling. I will do a Zumba class tonight, this will help me to burn 1000 cal per day and this is my goal. I also have been watching my eating after 8pm and for the most part I am compliant.

Also I had an all white event on Saturday and I have to say that I look slimming!!!!

Mrsrhawkins - Congrats on the weight loss, every pound adds up. Let me know how you are doing on staying on track.

For me I am still trying to get my two work outs in per day, in the AM and PM. It is going ok. I am doing 4/6 so I am still working at it.

The 4th is fast approaching plus I will be on vacation for a few days, I need to really staff in control.

Hello Spark Members "What is your short term goal"?

We today I did a Boot Camp work out. This was good, the instructor was good and I had a great time. This reminds me of a P90X work out.

I will not be going to the Gym tonight as I have dinner plans, but I do plan on cutting my meal in half and taking it home. This is my short term goal for today.

Hello Spark Members - What is your Short Term Goal?

So another week has past, and I feel very accomplished, i am really increasing my work out and I am very happy about it. I have been controlling my eating, journal my intake and doing my exercise which helps a lot. I really do enjoy using the tools on Spark as it really helps me in my weight lost.

So this week - I plan to continue my two work out per day for 6 days. I have not quite made it yet to 6/6 but I am still pushing :)

I will continue to journal my intake. I love the saying "if you bite it then write it"

Plus I really want to increase my heart rate, it takes me a while to reach my heart rate zones in the 150s, but I want to push to be in the 160s then I know I am really pushing.

in the 150s I know that I am working hard but when I am in the 160s then I know I am challenging my self.

Hello Spark Members - How are you doing on your "Short Term Goal?"

One of my daily goals is to burn at least 1000 calories per day. I can do this when I work out twice per day. I do enjoy doing a work out class in the am and then in the pm. So far this week I made it 3/5 am classes, and 5/5 pm classes. So this is not bad for the week and my week is not over as yet. I plan on doing a Zumba and Spin Class on Saturday :)

I am very happy with my process this week, even with my down fall with the cookies! I got back on the horse and did not let it ruin my week :)

I have decided to only go on the scale one every 3-4 weeks as the scale is my frien-enmy. This will give me some peace of mind, even though I am tempted to step on.

Any way Spark members what is your short term goal. Please let me know how it is going.

So far for this week I have been increasing my exercise. I had a down fall with cookies on Tuesday, the good this is that I incorporate it with my intake, but it was still too many cookies. i am so weak when it comes to sweets.

I am trying not to go on the scale as if it is not going in the direction i want I get upset, so I will only go on once per month.

So my goals for this week is coming along. Also i have been not eating after 8pm.

Mrsrhawkins - I am with you Onederland is in my future too. One Spark members said that her short term goal is to get to "Over Weight" and no longer "Obese". I have now made that my medium goal.

So for this week My goal it to burn 1000 cal per day, push my self more during my work out, ( I tend to be afraid to push my self to my limit - not sure why). Also the most important one of all, record what I eat. I am so not compliant with that goal.

So Spark Members "What is your short term goal"

to get to Onederland!!! I am between 219 & 220 right now and am losing approximately 5 lbs per month. It's so tempting to make more major changes that will get me to that first goal more quickly, but I would rather take it slow and keep it off forever. Hope to be at 30 lbs lost by the end of this month!

Hello Spark Members - What is your short term Goal?

I did not log or exercise yesterday, as I did not manage my time well, but I think I stayed in control with my selections. I was a graduation party and I made very good food choices :)

My weight is know 224.1, I have been hovering around this number for a few months give or take a + or - 1 or 2 pounds. I need not to go on the scale, I should go just once per week, or once every 2 weeks. I know the scale is my frien-nemy so I need to stay away.

I have been increasing my exercise so I do hope to see a change in the next few weeks.

I have been going to the gym with my friend, some times I go alone, but I am going to the classes and I am having fun.

My goal for next week it to journal every day and increase my exercise. I need to put my all in my exercise.

Let me know how you are going on your short term goal.

Hello Spark Members - What is your short term goal?

So last night I went to an event, while what I wore was nice, as my skirt could not fit me last year, and last night it went on with room to spare. I had over my calories in cocktail patties. It was too but on the positive side I did not indulge in cake, cookies or any other food.

This morning I had a head ache so i did not go to the gym, instead i stayed home and completed a 20min Turbo Jam. I am glad I did something.

I brought my lunch today and I also plan on going to the Gym later with a friend.

Hello Spark Members, How are you doing on you Short Term Goal?

I started my new week yesterday. I did not get to track yesterday, but I am tracking today. This morning I did my exercise of Spin, it was great and I worked hard. i will not be able to go to the gym today as I have an event.

I have to be very conscious of my eating at this event so I really have to keep myself in check.

I will see how my week goes with my exercise and eating. I do feel my rings spinning on my fingers. (that's a good sign).

Hello Spark Members how are you doing on this lovely day? So its the end of my week and I met my goal. I recorded what I ate (on most day, some days I did not record my dinner but stayed within my range). Also I worked out all this week! Sometimes I did two exercise per day. This is great. I also stuck with not eating after 8pm, apart form on Thursday.

Today I went to my Spin and Zumba class it was great we had a ball. I am really happy about what I did this week and I am looking forward to next week.

How did you do on your short term goal?

Hello spark Members, how are you doing on your short term goal?

I am doing very well! I had a good day yesterday, I stuck to my intake, recorded all my food and completed two workouts!!!! The biggest of all was that I resisted the temptation of the doughnuts!!!

I really feel good about my accomplishments. This morning I wanted to go to a spin class but I work up late :( but I put my DVD in of Turbo Jam and I had a great work out. At first I wanted to quite as I wanted to go to the spin class and I talked myself out of it and said any type of exercise counts it does not matter how I move I just need to move.

I have an event today so I will not be able to do the the gym but I plan on moving a lot to burn some calories.

Yea - I am doing it!!!

Hello Spark Members!

I did well today, I did not do my work out this morning but I walked for over 2 miles at lunch. Plus I did a Zumba class today. I stayed in my calories. I did not put my dinner in, I had soup, but I know it was less then 400 cal.

My great achievement today, was that in a meeting they had doughnuts and sandwiches, but I had my lunch and G-Bar and I did not eat any of the food they had ( I was eying the doughnut but I did not take any). Someone even offered to share 1/2 a doughnut with me and I said not thanks. That was a great moment. :)

This was a day well spent. Thank you all for your support.

I will have to do my work out in the am as I am working very late tomorrow.

How are you doing on your short term goal? Please share.

Hello Spark members;

I feel that I am on yo-yo. I am trying to break out of the 220's and it seems like a struggle. I have been in this area from April 2012. I am trying to increase my work out to burn about 1000 calories per day. Keep my intake to 1600 cal per day. Make healthier choices and not eat after 8pm.

I guess as you get older in your forties the harder it is for the weight to come off. I really have to work harder! But I am not giving up.

I have my spin class today, and I am going to really give it all I have. Yesterday morning, I did a DVD of Turbo Jam for 40mins, I burn 400 cal plus I went to the gym in the afternoon and I used the elliptical and burn 600 cal. I was very pleased of my accomplishments.

Hello Spark Members Please let me know what is your short term goal for this week or for the day.

I had a great Spin class yesterday, I need to get it in my head and work harder, I know I can do it :). This morning I workout on my own, I find that I need a class or others to work out with as I will push myself more. But never the less I did a 30 mins work out.

It is June 1st and I would love to loose 24 pounds by the end of August. Or be in the low 200s. i feel that I have been stuck at this weight for a while and I need to break this cycle. So I really need to do my exercise, no eating after 8pm and watch my intake.

I have a Zumba class tomorrow and I am so looking forward to that class.

So Today is Wednesday, May 30.

yesterday, I started out my date well and then ending up spiraling out of control!!! I hate when that happened but it did and I have to move on from there.

This morning I did a great workout, it was 20 mins, and I gave it may all. I burned over 200 cal. Only recorded 200 but I know the effort I put in and that is what count.

I have to stay focus even if a fall off the path, I must get back on and continue this journey.

My knee is still hurting, will follow up with the MD, but for now I will continue doing my work out and I will not but too much pressure on my left knee.

Let me know how you are doing with your Short Term Goal.

It is Monday and I went to two parties, one on Saturday and Sunday. These were great events. While I did not track all of my calories for both days I tried to stay in control. I know I went over my calories, but in the past I would be stuffed at these events and this was not the case :)

Also at the Sunday event the host had a candy/chocolate station. this table was full of snickers, ferrero rochers, plus many others, (I mention these two as they are my favorites), the good news is that I did not OD on the candy. I need to learn to have it in my environment and develop self control. I really did. This does not happen all the time so when it does I am very thrilled.

I also danced a lot at these events which helped to burn some calories. Plus, I wore a crop pants that could not fit me last year, and now it was fitting lose. So I am very proud of my self for reaching my goals for that day. So my Short Team Goal for these events went well.

My Short Term Goal for this week will be to watch my cal intake, (it i bite it I write it), and do my exercise.

Please let me know what is your short term/Daily goal and if you reached it.

Keep on Keeping on.

I went to the gym this morning and I had a great work out. I had to keep telling myself to push. With my knee that is not so easy.

I have 2 events this weekend so I must watch my intake and make good choices. I am saving most of my Calories for my event today.

Keep on Keeping on!!!

It is coming up to a week that I am controlling myself as best as I can to not eat after 8pm. this is hard but i am doing it, and I am very happy with my process and progress. One of the things I noticed is that when I don't eat after 8pm, I stay with-in my calorie goal, (no big surprise there!).

I did my workout this week, but I felt as though that I did not gave my all, as my legs felt so tight. I realized that I need to stretch more as my legs were cramping and making it difficult for me to move. i will see what happens in my Kick Boxing Class tonight.

my Goal for this week is to
1. No eating after 8pm
2. Push myself during my work out.

If I conquer these two then I can move on, to new goals.

Please share What are your short term goal and how are you doing reaching them.

Well this is really a one person blog, LOL. So please others you are welcome, I need all the support I can get.

I made it! I did not eat after 8pm. I eat my dinner earlier went to the gym and only had a cup of tea with toast. When I eat after 8pm I just cant stop.

I did a great work out on the tread mill yesterday, Monday. This morning I woke up earlier and did a workout DVD.

I may not get to the gym today but I am hoping to stick within my cal goal.

Today is a great day so far. I had a great work out this morning, I went to the gym and did my Turbo Fusion work out (low impact), I burned 450 cal, I love using my heart rate monitor as I can see how many calories I am burning and how hard I am working.

I came home and I ate a large Egg white, ham with veg breakfast on an Arnold thin whole wheat (yum).

Yesterday I OD on cake. The Cake was good but I just could not stop. I so need better control. I worked out at my Turbo Jam class really hard burning 650 cal. I really want to be under 200 lbs by the end of August 2012.

So Saturday, I when I weighed in I was 225.6 this was good as the last time I weighed in at the nutritionists I was at 231.6! This was an increase weight in 3-4 weeks. So I was happy that I went down that 6 pounds and back to where I was before. This morning I went on the scale and I found my self at 227.4!!!!!! This is so frustrating for me as I think I was trying.

But when I look at my intake I know that I have been eating too much of the wrong foods, snickers and cheez-its. when I dropped the 6 pounds I was increasing my exercise to at least 2 hours per day instead of 1 hour per day.

I need to stop being so lazy and do another hour of exercise, stop eating so much junk food. I need to limit the junk to a once a week treat, as I have no self control.

I need to work on these two points the next few days 1) limit the junk foods 2) increase my exercise.

This is what works for me and if I want to see results this is what I need to do.HELP

I have to say that when I keep my Short Term Goal in focus, I do very well and in return feel good about my self, my day go very well even when I encounter bumps in the road. This is a domino affect in my life.

My short term goal per week or even shorter per day, is to record what I eat. I find that if "I bite it, I write it", I have heard this over and over again and there is so much truth to this fact. When I record what I eat I get very conscious of how much I but in my month. When I don't record I pretend that its not happening and then it becomes a free for all. (this is not good).

The goal is my work out/exercise - I must exercise, at first I want to work out twice a day but what I am really looking for, is to burn up to a 1000 cal per day in my work out. I usually can do this by doing two 45 mins work out class. .

I have so many other short term goal to reach my big weight loss goal of 170 pounds, but small steps at a time. I need to master the above to move on to my next goal level.

So far this week I have been tracking what I eat and working out. Some days I get close to the 1000 Kcal but I am working out.

Keep on Keeping on :)

Noel did you make your 2 pound goal?

I know have to start small, So for now I am trying to work out twice per day. I want to exercise in the AM and the other in the PM. I feel this would jump start my energy for the day. Some days it works out well, But most days I am only getting in the PM Exercise.

So this is my short term goal for now. When I feel that I have gotten this under my belt i will set another goal.

Thanks and Keep on Keeping on :)

Great to hear from you Fay.

Oddly I need to lose just 2 more pounds,
and then I'll be 'overweight.'
Which sounds kind of silly.

But that's my short term.
And, when I set my long range goals last year,
I should lose 20 more pounds by the end of jUne.

Which I know isn't going to happen.
But if I have to revise, I will.
as long as I'm in control of setting those goals, and reaching them.

Keep on keeping on!

Noel711 - that is a great accomplishment to loose 78 lbs! Keep on and it will below the obesity level.

I too need to be descipline with my eating and documentation. I did not do my work out today, but I am going to try again for tomorrow.

If I look at the big picutre then I may never reach my goal, so baby steps or as you say, eat the elephant one bite at a time.

I will let you know how I am doing and you keep me posted as well.

Hi!

Just catching up on my emails, and saw this timely topic.

Yes, short term goals, very specific steps are important,
and helpful.

It's like that old joke: how do you eat an elephant?
One bite at a time.

So... for me, how do I get healthy?
One day at a time, one step at a time.

Every day the goal is to track my meals,
and to stay within caloric and nutritional guidelines.
I need that discipline.

And with my fitness, I walk, power walk, 6 miles for 3 days a week,
and 4 miles 3 days.
On the 7th day I have the choice to something active for fun...
or do something for me... like shopping.

The goal of all of this? To get my BMI below the obesity level.
Even after losing some 78 pounds.. that BMI won't budge.
So that's my goal, and that's how I'm doing it!

I know that when I have a goal to work towards I do so much better, so I have to set short term goals for my self. I just worked in getting in a LBD (little black dress) for my husband B-day party. I have been working out to reach my goal and I did!

Now my next goal is the month of June 2012. I have so many events coming up, graduations, conformations, grad parties etc and I really would like to step out with confidence.

I have been working out 4-6days per week for 40-60mins per day. My goal is to increase my workout to 90 -120 mins per day, and control my eating, especially sweets that is my down fall.

I will let you know how I am doing with my short term goal. Please let me know what are your short term goals and how are you doing with them.

Fay
