Outback had chicken that was good. And with some broccoli on the side. I also like to go for Greek food -- I will often get a souvlakia (kebab) with just chicken and either another veggie souvlakia or a side salad. I eat Greek 2-3 times a month and my weight is still going down, so not a dealbreaker. :-)

My favorite restaurant meal is Applebee's 7-ounce petite sirloin (it cooks down to 5 ounces, so you can eat it all) with a double order of broccoli instead of broccoli and rice. I ask for no added butter (or added anything). YUM. YUM.

I hope you enjoy your night out. You can do it!!

One of my favorite tricks is to ask that a take home container to be brought with the meal. I then usually put 1/2 to 2/3 into the container and give it to my wife to hold on to. Really helps control portion control, gives me another 1 or 2 meals at home, and makes eating out seem much more affordable.

Applebee's and Red Lobster are our favorites.

for Mexican I've discovered Chipotle and Qdoba. They both offer the burrito and fajitas in a bowl without the tortillas and they have great salads. The spices are really great.

I haven't done Japanese, since I love sushi and california rolls and rice is a no-no. I've done chicken, beef, and shrimp stir-fry at Chinese restaurants and pick out the carrots and other stuff that are questionable. I just stay away from the rice & noodles and have been doing just fine.

Wow, this sounds great! Has anyone tried eating at Japanese restaurants or Thai?

I have fallen in love with Trader Joes all over again...their frozen swordfish, mahi mahi, scallops, salmon...so inexpensive! Then I just pick up a few bags of frozen greens and it's perfect!

Yet, still haven't braved the restaurant scene, yet. Thanks everyone, keep it coming!

I go to our local Mexican place and order Taco Salad with no shell. Chicken or beef and it usually has a few pinto beans, (not refried) lettuce, tomatoes, onions, guacamole and sour cream. I know that is not a 'pure' lean and green but I am down 20 lbs in 2 months so it doesn't seem to be setting me back. No Chips!!!!!

I've done the same. Almost all restaurants have a grilled chicken, grilled fish, and/or a lean steak. I've eaten fajitas w/o the sour cream, beans & tortillas, and have asked for more veggies in place of pasta or rice. I always ask for the dressing on the side and wind up not eating even half of it. I do eat less, though, than if I had prepared it myself, since I really don't know what they added to it while preparing it. Stay away from anything prepared with a sauce, they usually have some cornstarch or flour. I really haven't had any problems. As a matter of fact, that's why I'm loving MF so much. I can still go to lunch w/ my friends and/or dinner with my husband w/o having to do too much planning or "sacrificing". Good luck!

A lot of places are really good about special orders. I ask for extra veggies instead of pasta or ptatoes and it hasn't been a problem.

Olive Garden-they have a Mixed Grill and I think that is the name of the dish. It is grilled chicken and beef and vegetables. I do eat the salad even with the dressing on it and half of the dinner. Leave the bread sticks alone. I ate a bread stick there not too long ago and I didn't like it. It was all bread and garlic grease! My taste buds have changed! Almost any other restaurant I order the grilled chicken or grilled fish and salad. I order vinaigrette dressing on the side and use half of what they bring out. And yes I allow myself a few croutons.

Hey team!

So, after 2 weeks on MF, I'm ready to go to a restaurant for a relaxing dinner out with my husband. Or, at least know that I can go to a particular restaurant for a particularly-yummy meal! I mostly cook fish (flounder, tilapia, salmon and scallops) at home or roast a chicken. I look online menus, and just see that I'd have to special-order so much to get a MF-friendly meal that it's not worth it, but I want to try!

Where do you like to eat, and what MF-friendly meal do you order? Let's get the conversation started!

-Valerie
