I am in weight maintenance with the following targets:

Center Weight: 120.0 lbs.
Maintenance Range: 116.4 lbs 123.6 lbs
Using the Hacker's Diet Online trend weight

began using the long term (2014 - present) challenge average for the center weight with the onset of the Limerick Day Maintenance Challenge on March 11, 2020.

Diagnosed with 2 rare, complex, chronic conditions in 2019. Ongoing health monitoring continues.

Thyroid levels significantly out-of-range per lab results in both January 2020 and April 2020 Likely the worst I've ever experienced since the onset of thyroid dysfunction in the late 1980's. Set to return for additional lab work in June.

PLEASE NOTE THAT I HAVE CHANGED THE FORMAT. IT IS EASIER TO FIGURE OUT AND CALCULATE. We do the Calories in (Eaten) and subtract the BMR and calories burned (exercise). Much easier!!!

If you have been struggling with weight loss, it may be time for you to try out this challenge. It really does work if you stick to it.

We shall be continuing with the Daily Calorie Differential (DCD) which is calculated this way: Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) PLUS your Exercises Done MINUS Food Intake. Knowing your Daily Calorie Differential can make all the difference in your weight loss. On this thread, just put down your numbers on a regular basis. I personally have an agenda beside my computer where I insert all my information so if I don't have time to insert on a daily basis, I do it when I have a bit more time.

Remember, to lose one pound, you need to burn 3500 calories (average of eating 500 calories less per day or you burning 500 calories through exercises).

For your information, to get your Daily Calorie Differential, you need to go to MY TRACKERS above, scroll down to Report and there you will find this report. However, you do need to input your exercises done for the day and also have logged in all your food. SP makes this calculation for you. Spark People is great isn't it?

When I first read this very message in the link immediately above regarding the inability of losing weight, something clicked in my head when it said that my numbers may not be right. I was eating right, I was exercising right, but my weight was extremely slow in coming down -- it was downright stagnant!

Therefore, I went about looking at my numbers more closely. Something was bothering me - my BMR was quite elevated for my age group (right now they have me at 1960 when I have made a calculation of 1293! -- making it a difference of 667!!!). For your information, the BMR needs to be recalculated as one loses or gain weight. If your weight is stagnant, I suggest the following:

1. Recalculate your BMR (and if it seems correct on the Spark People, then continue with their report)
2. Calculate your Daily Calorie Differential this way. Add your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) and your Calories burned for the day. Then, subtract your Calorie intake (food eaten) for the day and you now have your Daily Calorie Differential.

P.S. RECALCULATE YOUR BMR AS YOU LOSE OR GAIN WEIGHT!!! (I've had to modify mine 3 times already).
