As I haven't written such a blog since 2012 and we have new members who this could be useful for I thought I write a 'simplified' (hopefully) version of the New Slimming World version.

Hope this helps!

Of course SLIMMING WORLD is mainly in 3 steps

STEP 1 - Choose lots of free food each day – unlimited

STEP 2 - Choose Healthy Extras - these are measured amounts

STEP 3 – Choose 10 syns per day or 70 syns per week

WITH SLIMMING WORLD NOTHING IS BANNED, ITS ALL ABOUT BALANCE


STEP 1 - FREE FOODS (and Speed foods)

Free foods include Meat and Poultry, Fish, Dairy Products, Eggs, Vegetables, Fruit, Beans, Peas & Lentils, Veg Protein Meal Replacement

HEALTHWISE – 2 golden rules for a healthy diet, A Eat a Wide Variety of Foods
and B Everything in Moderation

S – Speed foods are even lower in energy density

P – Protein, Most meats help keep you fuller for longer

SPEED AWARENESS – FILL AT LEAST 1/3 OF YOUR PLATE WITH SPEED FREE FOODS, S AND MAKE IT YOUR FIRST CHOICE BETWEEN MEALS

MEAT – Many are Free Foods and Speed if you remove all skin and fat from poulty, trim all visible fat from meat and if you use fat in the cooking count that fat as syns

FISH – Many are Free Foods and Speed including canned in brine or spring water is also free food

DAIRY Fat Free Natural Yogurt/ Fromage Frais
Fat Free Greek Style Yogurts
Unflavoured Quark
Fat Free Cottage Cheese

Any flavoured dairy will have a syn value so must be counted

VEGETABLES – almost all are speed foods except Cassava, Parsnips, Potatoes, Sweetcorn,
Sweet Potatoes

FRUIT - almost all are speed foods except Bananas, Grapes, Cherries, Mango, Pomegranate and Pineapple

Rice, Cous cous, Noodes, White or Wholemean Post, Noodles and Quinoa are all Free Foods, (however fresh pasta and noodles contain syns)


STEP 2 – HEALTHY EXTRAS, you need to choose 2 Healthy Extra A Choices and
1 Healthy Extra B Choice

For the HE A you could choose from
350ml Skimmed Milk, 250ml Semi Skimmed Milk,
200ml Whole Milk
Cheese – 30g Red Leicester or Double Gloucester
50g Mozarella from cows milk or 70g Reduced Fat Mozarella

For the HE B you could choose from Cereal, Bread, Crispbread, Dried & Can Fruit,
Nuts & Seeds
For example 45g Bran Flakes
40g Alpen
50g All Bran
40g Porridge
40g Shreddies
2 Weetabix

Wholemeal roll approx 60g
Wholemeal Pitta bread
Wholemeal bread 1 slice from 800g loaf or 2 slices from 400g loaf

White bread and seeded breads are not healthy extras so have a Syn value and must be counted, for example 6 syns for a Thick White Slice of Bread or 5 syns for a Seeded wholemeal bread slice
