So I am wondering how many ZUMBA classes I can do this month. The November schedule isn't posted. I guess really the only week that SHOULD be off is the last week for American Thanksgiving. But there's also Veteran's day which is a Monday & an election day.

And I really, REALLY want to walk more. A mile a day is a perfect amount!

I LOVE the idea of 100 days of something...but I don't usually even do 2. So 100 days also sounds pretty daunting.

Have any of you challenged yourselves in this way? Were you successful? Would you do it again? What did you learn about yourself?

The plan for March is as much Zumba as I possibly can & start to incorporate walks as the weather warms up. I don't mean my short little dog walks. I mean Monique & her headphones walking.

I did it!!! For week 1 of February, I actually did Zumba 3 times. My thighs are REALLY feeling it!!!

Week 2, I can only do Zumba twice so that means I also need to get in a gym day! I'll keep you posted on which day!!!

My goal for FEB is to work out 3 times a week. This week it just so happens that I can do Zumba 3 times. That being said...ideally I will also go to the gym at least once because I need to get/keep my walking mileage up.

Well obviously my fitness plans have changed since I can no longer get to Zumba. They changed the class time from 7 to 630 & there's just NO WAY. So here are my thoughts. I have a Planet Fitness membership. I'm spending the $10 per month. I should probably go use it. We also have a Rec Center in town. I thought membership was $20 for the year...but because I'm over 50 WOOT WOOT it was only $5. They have Zumba on Tuesdays followed by Yoga. I'm at least giving them a try! I'll also be going on the Zumba website to see if I can find just one more convenient class on another night. Obviously my body will be getting shaken up at this point by ANY activity so let's see what we can do!!!

I want to go to the Gym tonight. I have clothes in my car but no shoes. So the plan is to RUN home (hahaha) grab my shoes & go back out right away to the Gym before I settle on to the %^#&%^#&%*^ couch!

I don't have over grandiose plans. Some TM time & I'm not even sure I will do weights or not.

Getting my fanny in the door is actually MORE important at this point than the actual workout.

So my Zumba teacher did respond to my text & she said they were going to do some kind of "challenge" or something in July...so I might carry my happy ass to Zumba in July. I also would like to utilize my $10 a month gym membership. Yes...it's "ONLY" $10 a month, but when you're not using it it's easy enough to waste $120 per year.

I would also LOVE to start getting my 27 year old to walk with me. We shall see how that goes!!!

What is anyone doing for fitness? I haven't done anything for fitness in AGES!!! I know @GRANDMABEAST63 does her Cross Fit. I was doing Zumba & I've also done aqua aerobics. As stinking hot as it is, I would LOVE to get in a pool. Problem is I think the only pool in my town is closed. emoticon I reached out to my Zumba teacher yesterday. Hopefully if we get to chatting I will feel guilty if I DON'T go to Zumba. I gotta do SOMETHING. Help me get motivated Girlies!!!

So after you are sick...how long do you wait to go back to working out? On the one hand, I'm sure sweating out the toxins is GOOD, but you don't want to get anyone else sick & you don't want to push yourself too hard if you are under the weather. Advice anyone?

My legs are really killing me today! I worked 3 days this weekend at the part time job & yesterday a LOT of time was on the ladder. So...it FEELS LIKE I did leg day! LOL!

Tonight I'm going to Zumba & for SURE going to do legs up the wall for at least 10-15 minutes!

OK my tummy was giving me hell yesterday so yoga didn't happen. I will be walking today from a parking garage several blocks to where I am volunteering. When I am done tonight if I am up to it...I'll hit the gym. No guarantees. Just being honest.

There is no Zumba tonight. The facility where we do it is actually closed bc their parking lot is still a sheet of ice. I need to grocery shop for this week & try to get some food thrown together. My body actually HURTS from the lack of movement the past 4 days! (And probably from the cold that seeped into my bones too!)

JANUARY FITNESS PLAN
* Walk dog daily usual 1/2 mile walk 2X per day
* Wed 10th - Wed 31st...Zumba twice a week
* Gym 2 X per week (minimum)

TEAM...we aren't going to meet our goals or change our selves, our weight, our anything unless we have a PLAN in place. The plan has to have 2 components: nutrition AND fitness. They are both incredibly important. So let's ALL start thinking about what our fitness plan is. And how are we going to work that plan?

I need to finish 2017 OUT of the 280s. Period. And I like to eat in general but I REALLY like to eat holiday food. So I REALLY need to bump up my fitness. Now to concoct a plan!!! Yup, I struggle too!!!

I'm currently adding more running into my walking routine. I'm really just running laps around my backyard and walking a few laps them running some more to keep my heart rate up. I'd like one day to become an actual runner but I'm okay if my knees won't allow it.

I've already mentioned this in another post, but my youngest is going off to college next month. He isn't going far, but he WILL be living on campus so I will be home alone. That being said I will have to run home to walk the dog after work. Which will not give me the leeway to go to Zumba for awhile. Soooooooooooooooo...

For the rest of July & August I am going to get my 2 days of Zumba in & also try for 2 gym days per week.

Not to mention me & Mr Dog will have to start walking more in the morning AND at night so that he isn't bored & misbehaves during the day!

OK...so this is weird. So my budget is a little off kilter these days. So since I am already paying for the gym, I will be skipping Zumba for a bit & going to the gym as often as possible. Wish me luck!!!

I'm on the "move whenever I can" plan. Plus doing the physical therapy exercises as many times as I remember. I have access to a gym but very little time to get there between job and commitments.

At this point I'm doing Zumba once a week. I'm working a part time job where I am moving & walking & I get in between 6000 & 10,000 steps on the days I work that job. It isn't "fitness minutes" bc I'm not going overly speedy, but I'm not discounting the steps. I'm intermittently getting to the gym & doing the treadmill thing. I can actually walk a mile now on the TM. It isn't fast & it isn't pretty...but it's do-able. And I feel like I'm improving my "functional fitness". Like I'm not running a marathon or lifting 250 pounds or anything, but I am enabling myself to walk further & more in my every day life. I really want to add in another day of Zumba. I'm in the process of finding a 2nd class I can go to on a regular basis.

Gloria, I started out just walking during commercials for my favorite shows. I would walk from my chair to the edge of the living room and back to my chair a couple times and then sit. I also did the exercises on the sit and be fit program on PBS.

eFitTVSHOW
That is the official channel on youtube so you can see if you like to shows, I just watched them on PBS when I could. They were pretty hard at first and I rarely got through one.

In time you will do more it's just great to move and get any exercise in. emoticon

I have no fitness plans, however, I am trying to do a little exercise. I am very heavy and have very bad knees, which stops me from doing a lot of things. I am taking it one day at at time and do whatever, I can in the way of exercise. Cleaning, walking not a lot. I do upper arm exercise and a few sitting in my chair. As time goes on, will see whatever else I can add.

Thank you Monique. I'm cutting back on my fitness for the month of December- before I was pushing myself to 90 or more minutes of pedaling a day and it just isn't sustainable and admittedly I got bored. However I recently came to own a rebounder trampoline so I'm enjoying that. I'm limiting the pedaling to 30-45 minutes a day, and hitting the trampoline here and there when I need to get the blood flowing after too much desk time. Also hope to get my aerobics going again soon, but alas my DVD player is my computer which is in the shot and I have specific videos I am comfortable going crazy to keep up with.

I wish I could bike. The range of motion in my knees just will not allow it. Kudos to you Lisa!!! I don't even know if after knee replacement (in a few years) I will be able to bike & that just makes me sad. I LOVED bike riding in my younger years!!!

Hey Olivia--Have you checked out Jeff Galloway's site for info on walking and or running? Apparently he's the man!

I have a little pedal bike thing that I use rain or shine- if I do nothing else I crank out 45 minutes on that while watching netflix or something. Three times a week I've been popping in an exercise dvd. My current favorite is Sweatin' to the Oldies. I sometimes do Walk Away The Pounds but I get so bored with that that I turn the sound off and play my own music instead while following along. I also try to do strength training with resistance tubes a few times a week.

I'm saving up to buy myself a three month membership to the YMCA in January. I look forward to other equipment to try and swimming. I haven't gone swimming in YEARS.

I'm doing the Couch to 5K right now, it's a bit of peer pressure and a bit of "I want to see if I can do this," that got me into doing it. A large group in my workplace is doing a 5K and I was invited to join. (Totally shocked me as I don't think of myself as the sort of person anyone would invite to exercise. LOL)

Karmaletta, dancing sounds like so much fun! I looked up an old Richard Simmons Dancing to the Oldies 'video' and danced away my Tuesday last week. I need to try that more often!

I am trying to exercise a little everyday to the music, I listen too. I do it to my own pace and do not follow any certain program. I just do what I can. Starting slow, I have been doing at least 10 minutes, once in the morning and in the evening. Last week was my first weigh in, and lost 3 lbs. was pretty happy about that.

Now that I'm tracking again I'm back into daily exercise.
Yoga & stretches (PT for back & shoulder injury)
Tai Chi Chih

plus doing thing for just moving more. Like I restarted dancing to an upbeat song at least once a day, parking further away from the door, etc.

New here & sharing my current plan.
First I want to say I have many goals, big & small.
I want to run, I want to mountain climb, I want to walk the Appalachian..
But, I also want to comfortably tie my shoes, walk stairs without feeling pain or like I'll never catch my breath, and fit in seats in public without feeling shame. (Those are just a few of my goals)..

Today is day 6 of my workout, and I have a basic plan I follow that will a/ help me lose weight b/ tone skin the best of my ability and c/ work towards my long term fitness goals mentioned above.

I have followed every day of my plan to a tee (until yesterday), and tomorrow I have decided I will toss tomorrow's plan out the window as I'd rather hike a trail. So, i tend to change the day to do something new and interesting to keep me motivated. As long as I am moving for an hour a day!

But, here is my basic plan.

1/ Monday - 30 min walk & Home Workout & Weights
2/ Tuesday - 30 min walk & Cardio Day
3/ Wednesday - 30 min walk & Gym workout
4/ Thursday - 30 min walk & Home Workout & Weights
5/ Friday - 30 min walk & Yoga
6/ Saturday - 30 min walk & Cardio
7/ Sunday - 30 min walk & Gym workout

Also everyday I work on squats, calf raises and triceps (to help with loose skin)
And, when I walk I am working on running intervals, which are very small right now but will extend them as I get more fit. And then I'll add hills intervals.

These give me balance, 2 days at the gym, good deal of cardio, balance of yoga and weights to work the upper and strength.. When I change days, then i ensure I get the extra gym day as the 'walk and intervals' can be cardio also.. It all balances out and helps me work towards my goals..

But, for the most part I want to have fun and keep interested, so doing different things is important. Having this plan lets me choose a variety of things to do, nothing is ever the same.

My goal for August is to do 3500 steps per day. Seriously. I should be done with classes & able to focus for about 3 weeks on fitness & starting to get back up early so the boy can catch the school bus on time & walk the dog in the morning. All that being said I am taking 2 weeks of interim steps.

This week 7-17 thru 7-23 (ISH) I will do 2500 steps per day.

Then the week of 7-24 thru 7-30 I will do 3000 steps per day.

TBH the 2500 isn't hard. It's just getting off my a** & doing it. It's not being a lazy couch potato. I have a LOT to do school wise the next 2 weeks. So the reminders to get up & walk will be helpful b/c school work requires a lot of sitting!

I'm trying to decide if I have time in the AM to walk around the neighborhood. It's my alternate plan really but it is quick and I should be able to fit it in before we have to prepare for company.

What I plan for the next few weeks is to walk more either at the mall, park, or my neighborhood. Also I found my resistance tubing and I have found a few videos to do some toning.

I wish I had a bike because that would be great this time of year!

LOL...oh that's attractive Jo!!! Yes, I am the girl who would rather have 3000 mosquito bites than be unattractive. Makes sense, EH???

So my fitness PLAN for this weekend is to go to YIN yoga tonight. Lots of stretching & holding poses for longer times. Hopefully all my yoga gear is in the car or I might be in a bit of a bind.

I am going to walk the bridge Sat Sun & Mon as long as the weather isn't wonky. No way am I getting up there if it's storming. Barring that...early morning or after 7 & I'm aiming for the 6th light pole this weekend.

Sat I also want to get to Zumba. I'm missing it!!!

Walmart is the quick link, but other sporting good stores carry them. They're not expensive, they're light-weight, and they're relatively tear-resistant. I think mine might be Coleman brand, but it's the same idea. Because there is a covering over the body, I often won't bother with sunscreen, but I rarely go sleeveless if I'm around bugs anyway.

How close have you been to your Steps Goal this week, Mo?

I'm still dealing with a lot of headspace crap, so deciding on a goal isn't right yet. I can't focus on the goal if I'm constantly worrying about this or that -- I've tried, but it doesn't get me very far.

That said, because this is a long weekend (Friday is Canada Day) and I'm taking Monday off as well, my goal is to get at least 1 hr of outdoor work each of those 4 days off. And to remember to avoid overheating and to drink plenty of water. I love my bug jacket but I have been trying to wear it less and less, especially when I'm not in the yard where all the mosquitoes live.

My Wife & I bought a kiddie pool on the weekend, and we'll be setting it up under a larger tent, so we can enjoy cooling off at home this summer. The tent is 15' round and the pool is 8' round x 2' high. I'll take it. :-D

This week my goal is to get my step goal EVERY day!!! So that's 3500 steps per day. For me it works out to about a mile & a half. And these are daily steps. I'm not out there hoofing a mile & a half at one time. So there's no reason I can't do this. I'm posting to be accountable!!!

Tree-Go is sort of like zip-lining, but it's not as fast, and definitely uses more muscle to get to the next tree. My sister went, and she's a bit shorter than I am, and she struggled a bit to reach up, but not a lot. She's also the gymnastics coach, so she often has more upper body strength than I do. There is one in the provincial park nearby, and using weight as an excuse isn't apparently valid, since I can't find weight restrictions on their site. Height, yes. Weight, apparently not. So now I have no excuse. :-P

Write more? really? sometimes I feel like I can't shut up. :-D

One thing I forgot to mention is that I like to find motivational posters and slap 'em to the wall in the gym. The bigger problem happens when the government I work for is a bilingual one, so signage should have equal representation in French, too. So that's what else I'm working on for the gyms - find some appropriate and inspiring motivational posters written in French and slap 'em on the walls.

Jo I swear I learn something from you every time you post. You should post more! emoticon

I had to Google what Tree-Go was & basically it seems to be the Canadian form of zip-lining & an adventure course. Darn Canadians have to go & re-name everything. Zip-lining is something I would definitely like to do. What is the weight limit for that b/c right now I don't think I could go. I've never wanted to do the splits or kick like a Rockette. But I see the value of both. I want to love gardening too & if I wasn't a big dumb chicken who hates being HOT & hates bugs, maybe I could be.

So...this isn't my Fitness PLAN...but this is my current fitness GOAL. This is how I would LIKE me life to look. Then I have to put my GOAL into action with some steps & I can get there & in all honesty, I don't want to run a marathon...this shouldn't take that long.

M-F I want to get up in the morning & walk the dog with my son. Starting with the 2 blocks I already know I can walk. Adding ONE house each day until I can walk the mile & 1/2 around the middle school & home.

M-F in the evening I want to walk the dog with my son. See above on distance.

S&S I want to get up & walk the nature park with my son & the dog. (Are you sensing a theme here?)

Sat...I want to continue to do Zumba on Saturdays with the possibility of Wed evenings for the summer as well.

By October, I really would LOVE to be able to do the PINK month 5Ks. There are 2 of them I especially want to do. That's basically just over 3 miles. I can't walk a full mile now without pretty much dying & being useless the next day. I have 4 full months to "TRAIN". I've got this!!!

1st week of June Fitness Plan: Saturday morning Zumba & start with ONE walk per day

Week of June 5th Continue with one walk per day

Week of June 12th Integrate 2 walks per day 2 days of the week (Sat Zumba)

Week of June 19th 2 walks per day 4 days of the week (Sat Zumba)

Week of June 26th 2 walks per day 6-7 days of the week (Sat Zumba)

My current fitness plan is somewhat consistent. M-F at lunch, I work out at the gym at work, using videos most of the time. Walk Away The Pounds and Shred videos are my go-to activities, even if they seem miles apart. I also do a little mall walking during my work breaks. Weekends, however, are not planned.

My fitness goals have changed, especially in the last 4 years. A while back, it was to be light enough to go to Tree-Go. Then it was to be able to do the splits. Then it was to be able to kick high like a Rockette. Then to walk 2 miles within 40 minutes, then down to 30 mins. Lately, though, my fitness goals aren't defined, so I go through a lot of "motions". I'm not sure what the fitness goals are now, if it's not to help lose weight. It's been a while since any real fitness activity was a lot of fun.

How do I challenge myself? Some days, just getting out of bed is a challenge! :-D I try different variations on the same workouts I do. I keep looking for exercises that will help my hamstrings and glutes from cramping in the middle of the night. Some work, most I forget.

What would I like to do that scares me? Tree-Go. I'm light enough that I can do it, but I haven't. I would love to ride a motorcycle, but I fear accidents on the road. Have I mentioned I fear a lot in life? I miss off-roading, but I won't take our road-worthy vehicles because I don't trust my judgement in front of those big puddles that we have to drive through. I would love to experience free-fall, but jumping out of a perfectly good airplane just seems wrong. I wish I had the nerve to get on a bike again. I want to spend more time outdoors, in my back yard, without a bug jacket. I want to love gardening. I want to love working on landscaping. I want to go to Home Depot and accept the fact my project won't turn out the same and that's ok and I'll love it. I want to learn how to use a chainsaw without cutting off my leg. Basically, I want to learn to love living again.

Jo

OK...the last one had February in the title & I didn't want that throwing anyone off. I know that there is some wonderful balance thing between food & fitness. You have to have BOTH in your life for successful, long-term weight loss & weight management. The formula is different for different people. And for folks who are or have been obese (as evidenced by the BIGGEST LOSER folks gaining back LOTS of weight) the formula is different than for most of the population. All that being said...here is the bottom line...

TO LOSE & then MAINTAIN weight loss, YOU MUST MOVE!!!

So what is your current fitness plan? What are your fitness goals? What do you do to challenge yourself? What would you LOVE to do if you weren't scared?
