I know this thread is a few years old, however, this is now January. What about revisiting this?? They are all still good ideas. Who is with me?

I've been going for a walk every day, but, have recently increased it to 2 walks a day.
I admit that I haven't been keeping track of my fluid intake; altho I usually have a glass of something....whether it's ice water or a cup of coffee....
Visiting other team members blogs...that's a good idea, too.

Good idea Lilydog11, I think I will do that. I do know it is easier for me to drink flavored drinks rather than plain water. I guess if I at least drink more than normal, that would be an improvement. Well I noticed though since I started working out I am able to drink a little more water than usual. Of course I feel a little thirsty after working out, but my old behavior was to reach for a soda or juices but instead I did drink plain water the last 3 days..one glass only lol..but a start. Thanks
And your idea of walking in the stores is a good one too.

Sparkette-CJ: Your might try Iced Tea flavored with Lemon, some no calorie flavored water drinks I like the Crystal Light ones for the Iced Tea. I also live in a warm climate and have a water bottle in the car at all times in case of emergency ...like getting stuck somewhere LOL, that hasn't happened in years, but it is a fear of mine.

Well yesterday I walked in the Super Walmart for 15 min back and forth up and down the Isles and then way back in the parking lot....so that was it for yesterday, except for the exercise bike. Today I will do my treadmill to break things up. emoticon

P.S. also diet welch's juice or other diet juice drinks.

I'd like to try this...but I have a hard time drinking water, or drinking liquids of any kind...I don't know why but I can eat meals without even drinking anything..my Mom used to do that too...she ended up a diabetic and I really know I need to improve on this. So I'd like to set my goal of water a little lower if ok...? I think I can try for maybe half that...and even that is going to be tough for me to do for a full month..but it may get me more in the good habit of drinking water. Thanks!!!

Pool_Schurke -- WELCOME! We are delighted to have you. As far as exercise for now, if you can do at least 30 minutes a day that would be great. If you would like, you can break it up into 10 mile increments. Maybe walk around the building on your lunch break will help. I truly understand the time restrictions. It seems like I am always working. Good luck on your goals. We are all rooting for you!

I'm in. The water part may not be as hard as it sounds. I have a standard 16 oz water bottle so I would only need to drink 4 a day. That doesn't sound too difficult....provided I remember to pick up the bottle and drink. :p

Exercise. Ok....I can do this. Is there any specifications as to how long? I work full time and go to school. One of the biggest reasons I'm back on Spark is because I'm tired all the time (which makes me lazy).

Motivate someone I don't know. That sounds like fun!!! I love to meet new people! Yay.

Count me in...I'm looking forward to this!

Since most of us are beginning anew this year, I propose that we start the year off with a small challenge and increase as the year progresses. For the month of January, the challenge is to work out at least 3 times a week, drink 8 glasses of water per day and to motivate another person on your team either by responding to a blog that was written or by commenting on their Sparkpage. Try to motivate someone that you don't really know so that you can get to know different people. We will add things as the year progresses. The goal of this is to do something that we can stick to which is why I didn't make the challenge so hard. This is a lifestyle change.
