Things are up and down.
I got benched last week from my job. (Benched is like a temporary lay off) I was out 3 1/2 days of pay may not sound like a lot but when you are struggling with every dime already taking away 350.00 REALLY hurts.

Plants (the two I have going so far look like dirt cause they have no sprouts yet).

Healthier life style is good and bad in that my husband said he is starting to feel the difference yay!!!
Bad in that it is more expensive

Have you seen the trailers for Rouge One
I'm really looking forward to it.

Sorry about your tomatoes. Are you going to plant anything while at the summer house?

ok gotta get back to my fun fun job emoticon

I've closed down my classroom for the summer, and started the process of moving out to my summer home. It's such a fussy thing to do - I'm particular, and making sure I have everything I'm going to need is a real hassle.

It felt, for a while, like I was drowning in things to do. Also, I drowned my tomatoes. But I feel like I'm starting to climb my way out of that. I am one year away from my goal, and this is me, checking in and recommitting.

How are your plants? How is your healthier lifestyle journey going? How are you?

LOVE this day.

May 4th should be a national holiday or at least a nerd national holiday. lol

My friends and I have been texting and sending each other things all day.

So I have been kind of MIA
Sorry about that

Last week when walking I started to get some really bad intense cramping like pain in my legs mostly the right lower leg. After a lot of looking through things I found out I have shin splints. Not very Jedi like. ugh

I'm needing to let that heal and it is taking longer to do everything right now.

Wanted to give you a recipe for one of my all time favourite summer dishes
Basic fruit salad with a tropical twist

2 peaches cut in to small pieces
2 red delicious apples cut in to small pieces
3 banana's cut in to small pieces
1 large bunch of grapes halved (grapes of your choice)
1 basket of strawberries cut in to small pieces
1/2 pineapple beaten to a pulp

mix gently. the pineapple beaten to a pulp is kind of like a dressing.
If you want to add a little something something to it a dollop of vanilla Greek yogurt on top tastes pretty good.

how is your garden doing

what is new

Star Wars Day is one of my favorite days of the year! I'm so glad I have Star Wars in my life. It has been a huge motivator for me, and has changed the way I interact with my world for the better.

There are just certain times of years that are full up of birthdays, I guess. It's like a rash of birthdays. It seems like we've all been incredibly busy lately. It's that time of year - at least, here. Our school year is winding down, so I'm so busy I can't even believe it, some days. Fortunately, I seem to have recovered from the rash of illnesses that have also swept my area. No more coughs or fevers or anything.

Tomatoes smell amazing, even if you can't eat them. I'd love to sit in a little green house and just breathe in the smell of tomatoes. I have six little tomato plants, myself, and I'm mad in love with them. My friend keeps bees, and she recently got hers. I'm super excited to go visit them. They're a bit bumbling, but in a good way. Fuzzy little things.

It's so hard to keep myself in check! I always want to push myself further than my body can go. My right knee in particular gets grumpy with me when I'm overdoing it. I aim to do 60 minutes of cardio per day, but somehow I end up doing 90, 120 minutes.

Salads and fruit! And egg salad! Oh gosh I am so excited for summer foods. We should trade recipes of some sort, favorite summer dishes or something. Not that you can eat my absolute favorite - tomato brochette, with fresh mozzarella marbles, basil, and a little drizzle of olive oil. So yum.

I am still absolutely wrecked by Code Name Verity. I'll be wrecked by it for the rest of my life, any time I remember it. In a good way, mind. I hope you love it as much as I do - or at least appreciate it a little. Everyone I know that has read it IRL comes up to me every now and again and mutters the title like a curse. It's awesome.

I'm so glad to hear you're keeping up and keeping on. I'm taking it one day at a time, and I'm so excited for summer. I forget if I asked or you asked or it came up at all - did you see the Daisy Ridley holding Mark Hamil like Luke holding Yoda picture? It just delights me.What an awesome cast!

May the Force Be With You!

Wow must be something about April... or should I say August lol when it comes to birthdays anyway.
I have 13 birthdays that I have to take some part in from the 18th to the 25th. CRAZY.

So I'm slowly clearing out things for being able to make the green house. At this point it looks like I'll be able to build it around August or September. I know one of the things I'm going to have in there for sure it tomatoes. My husband loves them and I can't have them. Still I love the idea of him being able to just go to the patio and get some for a sandwich when he wants them.

I'm trying to write very fast here wanting to let you know I didn't forget about you or anything like that but I'm at work to so going to make this fast.

I do know what you mean about being adventurous and it being Rey's fault on some level. Personally for me it was seeing the way she moved in Star Wars. I was very much "Well if she can do it..." lol I need to remember the reality of it too though. She is much younger than me, and I don't think she has been in the car accidents or fallen down a flight of stairs that I have. I need to keep myself in check though it gets difficult sometimes. I'm sure you know what I mean there.

Summer recipes for me are really just kind of simple stuff. I love salads! Really all different kinds of salad. Spinach salads, fruit salads, salads with things that you wouldn't think would go but do.
Most of the time though my salads are just made with what ever is in the house at the time.

I'm going to have to look in to this book Code Name Verity. It sounds interesting.

ok well I gotta get going but I hope things are well with you.

Sorry for the delayed response! April 10 - April 17 I know no less than twelve good friends/family members that have birthdays. It means a constant stream of doing birthday things with people essentially from the 8th to the 18th. Add testing week at work to that and yeesh, I'm not sure how I'm still going, some days! Sleep is a dream I miss sorely.

I look forward to the pictures of the greenhouse! There is something about the smell of growing plants, man, it's just amazing. I want to make a tomato-basil salad thing, though, so badly. A few types of tomatoes, along with basil, fresh seed mozzarella, a little dash of olive oil, all mixed together. It's just a refreshing summer meal and I haven't had it in forever, it feels like, and I remember it being cool and amazing. I can't imagine not being able to eat tomatoes. What are your summer recipes that you're dying to break out again? Mmm, I also want watermelon. Oh! And we make the best kebabs. I think summer food is some of the best. Clearly I am hungry.

That movie sounds heartbreaking, though. Speaking of heartbreaks, I just re-read this book, Code Name Verity? It kills me. It is the saddest, most amazing book. It makes me want to do and be so much more than I have been, though. I decided a while ago that I was going to have adventures - to try and live up to that think Juliette Gordon Lowe tried to teach girl scouts. Try new things. Do good turns. Be adventurous. It seems like a good goal. It's Star Wars and Rey's fault, but I think the seeds of my aspirations to be that sort of person were planted back when I was a little Daisy Scout in a cute blue smock, y'know what I mean?

I love my new bag. I have been getting tons of complements on it and as long as I'm not carrying it too long the digging in to my shoulder isn't too bad.

I'll send you pics of my makeshift greenhouse once it is put together. It's gonna be a little while though. I really want to grow Basil and Tomato together. I have heard they effect one another a lot while growing. Both in the growing phase and in how they taste. Of course since I can't eat tomatoes my husband will have to tell me about the taste of those. lol

Your weekend sounds like it was great. I'm looking forward to the day I have a car again and can go places. There are so many places I want to show my husband and want him to show me.

The movie we watched this time was "Turtles Can Fly" it is a drama about children just trying to live while the U.S. and Iraq war is going on. Very serious, sad at some moments but very good.

My husband and I host movie nights every other Sunday. We have a small group of friends that come over for dinner and a movie. Every week we have someone else pick the movie. The idea is for people to bring movies that they feel not everyone may have seen. I'm looking for people to see things that may be a little out of their comfort zone so they may get introduced to something they never would have thought they would have liked.
It's like that new favourite dish you end up trying but you never would have thought you would like because it's squid or something like that. lol

You make a good point about the straps on the bag - I hadn't thought about the fact that they would dig in like that. It's super cute, though, so totally worth it!

This weekend was a series of adventures! Friday, I went to hunt a wild tomato plant - and by wild I mean planted in my friend's green house. She also keeps bees. She's kind of a huge inspiration. I want to keep bees, too, but I've been told they do not play well with chickens. Tomato plants, though, are going to make my whole house smell amazing. She lives on a lake and has just the most incredible set-up. We ran around and played in the dirt, and it was awesome. We even barbecued.

Saturday was an impromptu run to the city, with a dear friend. We even went to the book store! It was one of those days where the sky is clear and beautiful, and everyone is happy, and silly pop tunes are on the radio, windows down and a car full of laughter. It was a lot of fun.

Sunday, I tried on my clothes that don't fit yet and found that some of them do! I've shrunk into some of my "someday it'll fit!" clothes! Otherwise, Sunday was fairly chill, laundry, getting ready for work.

What movie did you watch? Was it good? I sometimes wish I had the patience not to fill my weekends to the brim. I just always want to go DO things, even when I'm still sick and should really stay home and relax. I'm silly that way.

May the Force Be With You!

Sorry about the long delay again. work work work

lol

My new bag could definitely fit a good sized laptop if needed. Though I don't know I would want to carry something like that since the strap is soft though doesn't have a lot of padding. I had a small thing of milk and a can of diet soda in there this morning and it started to cut in there. Thankfully I generally don't like to carry much anyway.

I really like to look at the ability of herbs... Mind you not as replacements but in addition to. I know some people like to go extremes with one or the other. I am not like that just like to add in what I can with natural remedies.

How was your weekend. Did you do anything big?
Saturday was completely kick back and relax while Sunday we had a bunch of friends over for a movie night with lots of good food.

I could see how improving a green house would be better in the long run - you could design it how you want it to be, instead of working with what you can find. Ooh, and I'd never thought about it, but mint does have a way of opening up sinuses and things, doesn't it? That's fair clever.

That bag is darling! Is it big enough? I tote my 14" laptop everywhere, which I suppose makes me the weird one.

Ooooh, your husband was a professional wrestler? That's awesome! It's a shame he had to quit, but better for you in the long run - my uncle was a professional athlete and that is hecka time-consuming. Two or three divorces later, he's got a slightly more boring job and is significantly happier. It's way more fun to spectate/enjoy things from the sidelines. I'm not a huge fan of wrestling - I just never had a reason to get in to it - but I'm glad you got to enjoy it!

I'm in the second camp, for sure - there are all these pieces where the story leaves things open-ended for the writer/director of the next film, and in those gaps there are infinite possibilities. I appreciate the characters' chemistry, too. The cast is superb.

I have developed a cold, apparently. Still going to do my cardio. I have decided that makes me cool, or maybe just silly.

I think I'm going to end up making my own kind of green house soon. I have some old mik crates that are going to be emptied very soon so I'm going to use those along with some planks of wood I'm going to put some water resistant paint on to make them into shelves then prop up a clear drop cloth over it. I think I'm also going to try the community garden in a much smaller area just putting mint in there. My husband has asthma and mint is great for helping when someone is having problems but not an attack. It will be nice to know I have some just a few steps away.

Ah and here is a picture of the bag as promised.

This weekend was good over all. One of our events of the year was Sunday "Wrestlemania"
I don't know if you are a wrestling fan or not. I use to watch a little not much and then I got together with my husband is an ex-pro wrestler. He only was in the local feds here good chance he would have gotten picked up by the bigs but he was diagnosed with a hear problem and had to quit. We have a big party every year lots of food (stayed really healthy this year for him and I other brought junk food) and had a blast with friends.

Due to money I have still only seen TFA once and haven't bought the online version yet. I have heard from some the more they see it the less they like it and others the more they like it. Are you in either camp?

I have a minor obsession with only eating tidy or clean foods, so for me it works out quite well. I have no idea where that particular quirk comes from, but it's mine and I suppose I might as well own up to it. I don't cube my food or anything, but I am far more particular than is entirely reasonable.

A mini green house sounds perfect. Home Depot's website swears they have a ton of different sized greenhouses but they don't ship here, so I don't really know how well they work.

I love the digital download - watching TFA in bed on my iPad is awesome. But I can't wait to have the special edition three-part set when it comes out in twelve years or so, either. It's going to be so lovely.

This weekend was jam-packed. Yesterday I went to the city. It's a little more than an hour away, and I wanted to be there when the book store opened - 9:00 a.m. As you can imagine, that required leaving here by 7:30, and being up around 6:00. We went to two malls, a ton of stores, a friend's house, two restaurants, and a movie. We spent fourteen hours in the city before going home. It was so late. Today is chores day, wherein I make sure the house is spotless, and it essentially took me all day to get things scrubbed, cleaned, washed, an in order for the week. I'm supposed to do my taxes tonight, but I may put that off until tomorrow morning. I'm just wiped. It was so much fun, though!

This week, I'm having a Force Awakens release party, too. On the 5th, naturally.

I am not very good at taking things easy.

How was your weekend? Looking forward to summer arriving?

Funny. I think it braver to wear suits, blazers and such. I'm afraid I'll spill coffee tear something, get a wrinkle. I don't know. I just feel more comfortable in hippie gear and therefore actually look a little better than if I'm wearing the other.

I'm hoping to find some kind of mini greenhouse that I can put on my small patio and use that but so far everything I have found is too large for our patio.

The fake products on think geek are great. Some of them I wish were real though. Every year I tell me myself I'm going to think up one for them and submit it but then don't think about it until the 1st. oh well

I still don't know if I am going to get the digital download or not. Honestly the only things that we have to watch it on would be our computers which are in the same room with the tv's only the tv's have bigger screens. We are mulling it over at this time.

Do you have anything big planned for the weekend or just looking forward to taking an easy?

That's the perk of living in Alaska - there is so much land. We have chickens, and a good friend is a beekeeper. There are a lot of backyard food choices. I sort of think you're a fool if you live in Alaska and don't fish. It's a great way to stock up the freezer on healthy food. Further, there is no shame in using raised beds - it'll spare back pain as well as knee pain. I love them, and would like to make some myself.

It takes way more bravery to do the hippie-ren faire look than I have. Slacks, blouses, blazers, and sensible pumps act like a protective layer, like armor or something. They don't stand out, either. Camouflage. Maybe I'll be bolder about colors, when I'm thinner, too. I like to think so, anyway.

Today is The Internet Lies day. The only good part about it is the ThinkGeek fake product posts. They're always really funny.

Did you see that The Force Awakens is out on digital download? I pre-ordered it through iTunes ages ago, and I'm looking forward to an after-work watch.

I would love to do more gardening but just don't have the room. My husband and I are in a small 1 bedroom apartment. They do have a community garden there that I really enjoyed for a while and then I kept finding my things randomly smashed and or pulled. Nothing like spending 6 months on a plant you know needs love and attention giving it that just starting to see a sprout and then you come back a couple hours later to show someone and it has been pulled and torn apart.
Hopefully my husband and I will get to the point where we have a house of our own where I can have a greenhouse. Due to bad knees I just don't see myself on the ground at any size but would like to have planter boxes both in a greenhouse and a garden.

My look is much more laid back. Today at work I'm in nice seats and a clean t-shirt with a quote from Dr. Sheldon Cooper from Big Bang Theory. "I'm not insane - my mother had me tested" . Though I would say if I was more comfortable wearing dresses and had the money I would be dressed like a hippie a lot of the time. Well really cross between hippie and ren faire.

Etsy is another place I love to shop but can way over do so need to be careful.

ok well I gotta get back to that job thing.

Hope you are having a good day.

I know that pain - I do a lot of talking myself out of purchasing things. Lately, it's been "buy something new when the older thing I own is so much too large that I start to look sloppy."

By "clean cut" I really mean "structured as heck." Epaulets, stiffer material, crisp lines in solid colors. Things that all need to be ironed, daily, and probably starched. Slacks, almost always - charcoal or black - and blazers, stiff jackets, and so on. Clothes that have their own shape and therefore hid mine, probably, if I were to consider it from a "how did I get here?" perspective. I never felt like I could wear things that hugged, emphasized, or even acknowledged my generous curves.

I look forward to seeing the bag! I think nerdshopping is the best kind - Etsy was such a wonderful invention for finding things. There is this amazing Legend of Zelda bracelet I got there - it's the Song of Storms button pattern. I also have it in Song of Time. It's a good time to be geeky.

It's spring enough that I am desperately curious about starting a garden. It's been a few years since I did my own planting and growing, and I have a huge, empty greenhouse.

I seriously can't spend much time on think geek because if I do I'll end up spending my rent.
You are right about pyramid collection but I still love their stuff. If I could afford to I would own just about everything they have. Working in a call center lets us dress a little more casual than the regular office still need to keep it clean and nice though.

Once I get my bag I'll send you a pic of it. It's hippie/nerd/gamer ish lol

I love my Bag of Holdings. They're not as typically feminine as a lot of bags, but they fit my 14-inch laptop perfectly, so I can pack up my nerd gear and go easily.

It sounds like you're just dipping your toes in the ThinkGeek well of awesome. You'll find so many things you'll love. I have, over the years. They've also usually got a few of the Espionage Cosmetics nail wraps - makes me feel nerdy and cute. It's important.

I have looked at the pyramidcollection and it's a lot more ren faire than I typically dress. I'm sort of clean-cut and structured. My brother says I "dress up every day!" but it's not really true. I just like looking professional for my job. I want the kids I work with to take me seriously, so I have to take me seriously. That's how I feel, anyway.

Your easter bunny was smart and healthy minded. lol

Got to say sounds like you are holding a lot of bags of holding. So what do you hold in your holding? lol

I just bought a pho suede messenger bag on ebay for 10.99 s&h included in price. Really nice has a heart/peace symbol on the front. I sadly have to let my old bag go. It was a really nice cloth bag with a celtic peace symbol on the front. I bought it about 12 years ago. I was able to patch up the holes ok but now the zipper is unraveling and has snagged a few shirts. I loved that bag. lol I really wanted a pho suede bag of holding but couldn't find one for under 100.00 which I just really can't do.

So far I have only bought two things from thinkgeek (a Marvel wallet and a Manga cookbook) both for my husband for Valentine's day.

I feel I may spend more money there soon I like sooooooo much of their stuff.

Have you ever looked at the pyramidcollection.com I'm not sure if you would like it or not but you may want to check it out. It's another one that I could see myself spending a lot of money at.

I didn't know there were things that were just plus-size in HerUniverse! I'll have to look again - I'd always gotten so grumpy when I realized the only way to order things was in 5X. It's a silly vanity thing, but it just rankles because in most clothing stores I'm a 1 or 2X, at the most.

I do love ThinkGeek, though. I have the Heavy Metals shirt, it's one of my favorites. Their Pi Day sales every year and fantastic. I have the Handbag of Holding, Bag of Holding, Con Survival Bag of Holding, and Messenger Bag of Holding. I want the Deluxe Bag of Holding so badly. It's pretty and it ZIPS. I think that's the most useful feature ever, especially with SNOW.

I'm so psyched - this year the Easter Bunny (well, me - I am the Easter Bunny in my family) brought a FRUIT basket for everyone. Raspberries, blueberries, kiwis, pineapples, apples, oranges, strawberries, a coconut, even some weird Mexican turnip thing that was advertised as being an Apple-Pear hybrid, but no, is in fact turnip-y. It's a jicama, in case you were curious. I'd never seen one before, and I was curious.

Made the whole not overindulging during the holiday thing a lot easier. During dinner, I loaded up on veggies and fruits, too, so I managed to stay in my calorie count, even with the strawberry shortcake.

Matthew (The child that passed) was 13. The doctors had originally told his mom he wouldn't make it to 3, then they said he would be blind, then he said he wouldn't be able to do anything. I watched him for 10 years so though he wasn't my son because I was a live in nanny in many ways it was like I lost a child. His mom had a closed casket burial and then a celebration of life because although we were told he wouldn't be able to do pretty much anything he did just about everything a kid can do up until the last 6 months. We always made him wear a little extra padding in case of bumps when riding a bike or rollerblading but he did those too.

For the her universe stuff there are some things that are just in plus size listing but I do agree it is harder for us to get things instead of men. Thinkgeek.com is another good one.

Hey maybe we should just look in to starting our own company. lol

It's awesome that you were a nanny - I'm sorry to hear that one of them passed away, though. I knew a baby quite well that had a heart defect and passed, and the parents chose an open-casket funeral. I did not know what true horror was until that funeral. It was the worst thing I ever saw.

The thing about Her Universe is that it's junior sizing, so if you're, say, busty like I am, you're a 5X. I know it doesn't really matter, but it burns, man. It burns.

Call center is very stationary. Every Time I got to the bathroom I walk to the end of the hall and back to the bathroom then when I get out of the bathroom walk to the end of the hall then back to my desk. Doing what I can to get extra steps anywhere I can.
I love working with kids too, was a nanny for 10 years but one of them passed away (born with a heart problem) and it kind of finished me for working with kids. I'm very close with the other one though. He is 22 has 3 kids and is doing really well.

I do know what you mean about getting that creative side out.

Also was wondering if you have checked out Her Universe for merch.
Men still have more overall but this is a great site for us nerd girls

www.heruniverse.com/

Check it out and tell me what you think

Oh, awesome! It sounds like you're working on a lot of cool projects. It's a tough field, which is why I have a real job, too. I work in education, though, because it pays, and I'm good with kids or something.

I mostly write middle grade horror like RL Stine, but unpublished. I love tapping in to that potential for the world to be uncanny, you know what I mean?

Call center sounds a lot more stationary than working with kids. I gotta say, I do love my job.

I have a few different things I want to do.
There is a script I wrote that was shopped a while ago but never got optioned. That one is a drama, I wrote a short that is kind of British comedy / Charlie Chaplin ish that everyone loves when they read it and my husband and I are working on writing a featured animated movie that is family friendly.
You are right about it being difficult though which is why I have my call center job.

What kind of things do you write?

Well as I just mentioned I work at a call center and it is now the end of my day YAY
I'm running away and will talk to you more soon.

I'm in the same slightly selfish boat - I'm a writer, and the last thing I want is to make not paying artists seem like a viable option!

I love the Star Wars merch, even the silly things like cleaning supplies, but I have been so mad about the lack of female-oriented new franchise apparel. There is a very, very little amount of it. The older series, sure, you can find tons of things. Most of the apparel for the new franchise is menswear. I know people say "oh, well, that's unisex!" but I have boobs, dang it, and "unisex" shirts don't accommodate that.

I could see the first-aid kit being cool, but to quote Adam Driver on this, "Kylo wouldn't like those chips!"

What sort of film work are you trying to get in to? I hear the industry is incredibly competitive, but I imagine it's really rewarding to actually complete something. I know just finishing a novel is a major accomplishment.

That is how my husband and I are.
We are both also wanting to go into the film industry so why would we promote something that would help to eliminate it in the long run. Just not going there.

Right now we have a lot of general Star Wars things though finding stuff in the store that is just ridiculous. The other day I saw a Star Wars first aid kit, Star Wars chips, Star Wars cleaning supplies. SERIOUSLY???

lol

I'm not a fan of pirating, either. I feel like my dollars have something to say, when it comes to media I want. I have a fairly strict "must do this legally" policy.

Which is also why I have bought a bunch of Rey merchandise. Speaking with my dollars.

I'm not sure what we are going to do yet. We were offered one of the pirated ones for free but turned it down on principal.

that is a great Pi Day meme! Another good one I saw was a die hard reference. Makes me wish I was ready to talk about oscillation in my physics class... but alas, we are only up to gravitation (with a test on rotation next week).

Anyway, I've been surprised with myself at being able to keep up with the show, honestly. But it makes it easier when my kids want to watch it with me, or at least won't pitch a fit when I put it on.

At this point I'm so far behind on Rebels it's essentially become my Christmas list. I'm behind on every show I follow, and a great many I could only daydream about having time to watch. I guess that's end of semester. It has me wondering where the hours in the day go.

I am so excited, though, you guys! Pi Day is coming up! This is my favorite holiday.

I haven't seen it. Now I'm curious, but I too would rather wait.

On another note, Star Wars Rebels ended its season last night, or at least is going on a hiatus. It was a good cliffhanger, but now, I'm all like--ARGH!!! I NEED MORE REBELS!!!

yay! I find sewing to be very relaxing... when it's going my way. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to unearth my machine at home and the one I have at school, I usually only use during emergencies for my robotics team--like last minute design changes to the bumpers and things that are not very relaxing.

I need to work on my Depa Billaba build... must get fabric... must convince the husband that I need fabric.

I adore that Leia ball gown. OMG...

I'm hoping to make a trip to WDW for my 40th birthday next year (yikes!) since it will also be the 40th anniversary of Star Wars. I'm sure there will be some amazing things that Disney plans for it. I'm hoping to have the kiddos in costumes for then too, if we go. Trips are so expensive!

I love the inclusion of Leia with the Disney princesses. I think I have to head to a convention some time this year - even if I do just wear clever t-shirts and blue jeans. I'm suffering from the weird mash-ups withdraw.

If you like layers and hiding, the Legions always need more Tuskens and Jawas! The important thing is to feel comfortable with whatever you do.

We just got our tax return in and one of the fabric stores near me is closing (sniff), so I might see what I can pick up for a young Anakin and maybe a good classic leia for my daughter. She's really into the Disney Princesses right now, so I'll have to convince her to wear it... or Maybe she'd like Rey better.

You should go for it while you still can! Kids grow way too fast, don't they?

I am not brave enough to ever feel comfortable doing anything as showy as a Twi'lek. I'm a chicken and hide under layers and masks and things. Maybe that won't be the case when I am smaller. Maybe I will come to a point where I feel less like I need to hide my body. But right now, today anyway, it's such a distant place I can't even really imagine it for myself. Maybe tomorrow my imagination will be better

I've been threatening to make my son a young Anakin costume for years. I should really get on it before he gets too old.

And I really do hope that one of them decides to pick up the torch, or saber as it were.

Making a new costume has always been one of my rewards. I really want to make a Hera costume or a twi'lek dancer costume, but I feel very strongly about being fit enough to wear it. While the legions don't have any sort of weigh discrimination (at least officially), I just can't see myself as a larger sized twi'lek...

JACLYNGFC - See, that sounds awesome, to me. I'm sure as your kids get older, that'll be easier to manage, too. At some point, they'll have to learn to sew, right?

I can't wait to get fit enough to comfortably wear my Officer Uniform again. Though I'm really tempted to make some Jedi gear, I just haven't had the time or money for fabric.

I miss my days trooping with the 501st and Rebel Legions. I haven't been able to do much since I had my daughter.

You can make it a great day or not. The choice is yours.

Nice

And you may want to look into doing a costume for yourself at something like 10lbs under what you are now.
You know give yourself step goals. I know that is what I'm doing. when I get under 320 I'm going to get myself a nice shirt or something then when I get under 300 I'm going to do something really special like buy tickets to a show both my husband and I want to see. I won't do it until I hit those goals and I put a tiny amount of money aside now.

I can't really sew that good but I may try something like that for next year. Tons of time to practice and my husband already has a Jedi robe (it's what he wore for our wedding).

Typically we only get to the one con a year. Between life, Dicken's Fair, and life again the money just doesn't happen. As it is we wouldn't be going to Dundracon if we didn't have free entry and a free room because we work in the anime room to be there.

What character would you be from SwordArt Online? My husband has seen more of that one than me but I did like it.

See, that's awesome - I bet it was a blast. I'm not sure what the next con I'm planning to attend is. I was looking at C2E2 but I put off planning too long so that's right out. It's legitimately one of my favorites, though. AnimeBoston, too. That one has a permanent place in my heart. I attended for years, and it was one of the most friendly cons I attended.

I took up a sewing needle last night for the first time in ages, too. I think I have to make a Rey costume for a friend, for the excuse to sew. Probably her final form one - the one that is Han-inspired, according to the art book. If I hit my goal weight, I know I'll be making a ton of cosplays for myself. There are costumes I have wanted to make for years, but have always felt too fat to pull off (like, say, Zelda, for example, or something from SwordArt Online, FFXIV...)

It was called "A Seance to Remember" having to do with a party, ghosts and possession with happen before the seance even started. Setting was London 1920's and a lot of fun.

You are sooooo right about con crud though. ugh my husband and I were both sick with a cold 3 days before got over it just in time to feel good enough to go only to come home feeling like crap again. Eh it is what happens when you get like 2,500 in a small place for 4 days though right.

Other than those things it was a blast.

And then there's always con crud, which hits no matter how much VitC you chew while there, or how many times you wash your hands, after, no matter how sick you were while there.

It sounds like a lot of fun. I'll have to look in to it for the future. I love trying new cons. What sort of LARP was it?

Sorry it took me this long to answer but getting ready for the con, being at the con, and then recovering from the con is rather time consuming. lol

I was really looking forward to hitting the prototype room but wasn't able to. Just too many things got in the way this con for that. I did get to participate in one larp, and two RPG's.

My hubby had some health problems when we got there so there was a little more than a day of just taking care of him. Other than that I had a blast. You should look into if it is your kind of thing. We do get people from all over the country every year.

That's not one I am familiar with! I've attended dozens of cons, but the only game-specific one that I can think of that I've attended in the past five years or so is the Midwest Gaming Convention. That was in... Wisconsin? It was a blast, but it was very small, which I think was the fun part.

Anything particular about the con you're psyched about?

It is nerd central and I'm going to the nerd headquarters in two days for vacation. I'm going to a gaming convention called Dundracon. Ever hear of it?

At the very least I'm about, though I live in Alaska, instead of anywhere fun. I have a ton of friends in the SF Bay area. It's nerd central in a good way, I think.

Just checking in that people are still here. I would hate to see this go dormant.

Also wondering does anyone live in the SF bay area besides me in here?

I know domestically Star Wars will trounce, but abroad? Star Wars: The Force Awakens did dismally in China, and I know it's not exactly sweeping the floor with the rest of Asia, either. They don't have the same nostalgia factor, which is, I believe, why they cast a number of popular Chinese actors in Rogue One - to try and hook the fan base there. Or, that's what I've read, anyway.

There are just not enough hours in the day! I am so far behind on everything, too. I don't know where all my time goes. Or, well, I do - dishes don't wash themselves, floors don't sweep themselves, and a girl's gotta work, or she'll end up on the streets. Still, tempus fugit like woah, right?

Wow going against Avatar2. hmmm Star Wars wins hands down. lol

I hear talk of Leia being in Rebels. I'm way, way, WAY behind in Rebels right now but it is really pushing me to get to viewing. Just not enough hours in the day to watch everything I want to watch. lol

I just started a Rebels binge, so not yet! I know there's been a lot of buzz, though - the people over on Bombad Radio posted something earlier while I tried valiantly to ignore it.

Also - I am now dying over the Episode 8 push-back date. I am glad they're doing it, if it'll make a stronger movie, but man, they've pushed it to December! It's literally going to go head-to-head with Avatar2. Who made this decision!?

Anyone else using Rey's Theme as a work-out mix? I'm loving it.

Edit: Actually, the Spotify lists they made for them are amazing. Rey's is so up-beat that I forget how long my work-outs are running. Highly recommend. How's everyone else' work going?

Very nice thank you.

I'm going to be printing that and posting it in my hallway at home.

I think might be able to get my husband to try a little bit of it. He has a lot more to lose than me and much less mobility. Still we work on it together.

I see a lot of people do that Walk to Rivendell thing, but I wanted to do a Star Wars version, so I'm setting out on my journey across the Death Star today. It's about 74.5 miles. I'll be doing half an hour a day. Once I manage that, I'll have to consider Death Star 2, then Starkiller.

Might as well have fun with the working out!

Thanks for sharing that awesome workout! I have printed it out and will work on it with my new lightsaber as soon as I wrap up my race in two weeks. Never want to try any new workout this close to race-day!

Not sure other than keep posting.

I did find this chart that I can't really use yet but have a goal to be using by this time next year.

What do you think?

I tried to do a wall post as a "shoutout" to find out how many members are still around...It looks like the group mods have been inactive for a very long time. Thoughts?

Good idea

Just wondering if anyone in here is on the fitbit too.

It might be a good way to additionally challenge each other.

We need to round up anyone who is still active, send the message to call them back to the Temple. :) Get some challenges and posts going as we head into the new year! Where are our mods and can we get some stuff sent out?

The team is very quiet! Who is still in, active, or looking to get back at it? A busy group is really helpful here on Spark. Can we get this crew back in gear?
