IF you are struggling, yep professional help is one avenue, if money is an issue reach out the your local mental health advocacy group for assistance. They may also offer you peer group support. I am sorry to hear of your losses, was in a similar situation and coped with the first couple and then a minor situation triggered a full blown depression that took some time to recover from. Try to get help before it takes root.

It's time to find a therapist. You don't have to walk around feeling this way. As to meds, whatever you took in the past just wasn't right for you. You might consider trying again, keeping in mind that finding t he right one or combination can take a while.

GRANDMAJUDY6 - I am sorry to hear of your recent bereavements - it is never easy, particularly when young children are involved!

I strongly urge you to seek Therapy for your Depression. Also, it wouldn't hurt to make an appointment with your Dr and be assessed re meds. and also to have bloods taken - things like hypothyroidsm, low iron, B12 Deficiency, low electrolytes can all affect how you feel with regard to depression and energy and also impact on your weight. They are also easily treated.

With regard to p.meds, you made a comment that they weren't too good for you when you were on them years ago. There is a huge NEW arsenal of them now, but unfortunately it is a case of trial and error, because what will be a saviour for one person may have the opposite effect on another. We don't know until we try. We also NEED to be closely monitored while this is going on. A lot of people with depression don't require meds, but that is often more the "situational depression" where events/trauma have caused it rather than just having a chemical imbalance. Have you seen a Psychiatrist for a correct diagnosis? If not, then perhaps it may be time!

If you find that you are getting urges to harm yourself in any way, then I suggest that you present at an ER ASAP!

Keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

Take care,
Kris

I fully agree with the value of a multi B vitamin regimen. But in answer to your question, yes I believe you would benefit from talking to a professional. You have experienced 2 major traumas recently and when added to the daily stress of trying to function with a 'smile on your face' it all becomes overwhelming. Be sure the counselor knows all of what you are feeling so you can get the help you need and deserve. It will help although you may need to talk to them more than a few times to get through the whole thing.

Wishing you a peaceful and serene week. Call tomorrow for an appointment.

Definitely find a therapist to talk with. I can understand reluctance to do meds, but a therapist can help give you better coping skills, which are necessary for getting better!

Welcome to our team, Judy.

I'm sorry to hear that you are emotional pain. Your statement about whether it is worth the effort to go on living, sounds like suicidal thinking. I think you should present to the emergency room so that you can get the help you need. I really care about you, even though we have just met. Please take care of yourself, and please stay in touch, okay? I'm glad you're with us!

Stress can rob your body of B vitamins. Have you tried taking a complex B vitamin? It has all the B's and I swear by it. I take antidepressants but without this vitamin, I might as well not take anything. I had a friend who was going through a similar thing as you and I bought her a bottle and she has been thanking me ever since.

I've been dealing with a lot of stress and depression in the last couple of months (a friend recently passed away and another friend's 3 year old daughter died), it's having an affect on my motivation to lose this weight and I am having a lot of trouble coping with the depression. I'm trying to decide if I should go talk to a professional, there is supposed to be a free clinic nearby, or if I should just keep winging it like usual (I can usually at least make it through the day). I haven't taken medication for the depression in years (couldn't afford it and it was messing with my mind), I just put on my happy face everyday for everybody, and keep on doing what I have to do. I've been getting a lot of what I call "what's the point?" days where I don't even see the reason to keep on breathing. It often feels that our situation is never going to get better, that my husband is keeping things where his work is concerned from me, and that my physical health is not going to get better. Is it time to seek professional help? I don't think that I can keep hiding this with my usual sense of caustic self deprecating humor.
