Believe it or not, I HAVEN'T read it yet. They don't have it at my library and the cost even at the UBS that I go to (which has a fantastic used GN section) is still pretty prohibitive. But I keep hoping that either my library will get it (which I may request through their purchasing requests) or I'll find a great deal on it some day.

And I'd have to agree with an "If someone finds..." thread. I'm hoping to get to my comic shop every couple of weeks (one week with the boys and one by myself) so I'll have opportunities to pick things up for people.

Amber, I assume you have read From Hell by Alan Moore...?

And this makes me think we should have a thread for us to help each other find comics we're looking for! If we find something on someone else's want list (I'm talking new stuff here), we could pick it up and send it along...just sayin'.

I stopped by the local comic shop today (and dammit, they don't have any available boxes for holds, so I'm going to have to either look for another local shop that DOES or do online subscriptions. :/) I found 1, 2 & 4 (I think) of Green Arrow, Year One but not 3. Grrr... I've got to keep a closer eye out. I'm also trying to find Green Arrow Brightest Day #3. I've got 1,2, 4 & 5 and the shop has 6-10. But I really don't want to skip over 3 yet. I suspect I'll be looking for it online as well.

I did get some new reading while I was there though. For my oldest boy, I picked up Tiny Titans, #38, for my youngest Scooby Doo, Where Are You? #3, and for my husband, Doctor Who #14 (Tom Baker). For myself, I picked up a used GN of Green Arrow, Sounds of Violence. For Rich and I, I picked up Doctor Who #1 & 2, with both covers for each. I've been wanting this one, because along with being a comic fan, I'm a Doctor Who fan AND an amateur Jack the Ripper... well, "fan" isn't really the right word for it. But I do know a lot about JtR and read as much fiction regarding him to see what fictional theories are out there. Having both covers for each issue is partly because I wasn't paying attention and partly because it'll be a nice collectible some day... maybe. ;)

Oooo Batman Year One...I got all excited this weekend when I found a mint Part 4 for fifty cents, but he didn't have the rest of them. Wasn't much point then LOL! I still want to read it...

Sorry for being gone for a couple weeks. Crazy is an understatement!

I finally finished up Batman: Year One. Definitely dark. And I really, really enjoyed it. Though as I was reading it, I saw it as just as much Gordon's origins story as I did Batman's. And that's one of the things that I really liked about it. I wrote a review over on Goodreads and on my blog, but I don't think I've said much more than I did here.

I finally got Trinity, Vol 3 from the library (now that they've actually ordered it). I'm about 1/2 way through, maybe a little less. It's feeling... odd. Maybe it's just because it's been so long since I've read Vol 2, but it feels like they've finished everything up by this point so... why is there still so much left? I dunno. I'm willing to give it a try.

Both my boys picked out kids' graphic novels the last time we went to the library. Teddy got a Spider-Girl and Pete got a Spider-Man. I love that I'm raising geeks!

I still need to find time to get out to the comic shop. My husband wants to come with me, but the weekends have been filling up too much. emoticon . I need to make time for the important things, I think. Like comics.

I'd like to know which issue the cover refers to...I think #523 is the last issue I've purchased. And I am SO glad to have Phil Jimenez on pencils - I am a HUGE fan!

Isn't organizing and cataloging your collection a pain? I know it is for me, but it's also a labor of love. Sometimes I get distracted by a certain book and I end up reading instead of filing or entering database info LOL!

Levitz has gotten me to do the same thing! And the cover to the latest Adventure is an homage to an 80s cover, but I can't remember which issue. I know I have it, though, so I guess I'll be looking through my boxes. Luckily I organized them a few months ago and they're still in good order, so it shouldn't be a very hard thing to find.

Annemargo, I couldn't agree more! While the team has changed, the feel is back thanks to Levitz. It made me go read some 80s stuff again! I'm enjoying Adventure and Legion very much.

I picked up some oddball books at a flea market this weekend, including Video Jack, a Cary Bates/Kieth Giffen weirdfest from Epic Comics back in the 80s. STRANGE, but very funky and cool.

This past week I was conserving money so I can go moderately crazy at Wondercon, but I did pick up all of the Thor First Thunder issues and Adventure Comics 524. Both good reads--I am so happy Paul Levitz is writing the Legion again.

I got so caught up in crushing on Cap LOL that I forgot to post my latest picks!

We went to a shop south of us so I could get caught up with the titles I read. I picked up:

Birds of Prey #9 & #10
Secret Avengers #10
The Stand: No Man's Land #2
Thor: Wolves of the North
The Walking Dead #81 and #82
Legion of Super-Heroes #9
Green Lantern #63
Brightest Day #18, 19 and 21 (had #20 already)
American Vampire #12

I've only read Secret Avengers as of this writing...but looking forward to reading the rest AFTER I get some things done around here, including working out! It'll be my reward for doing it :)

We also made a stop by Borders, which is closing its stores. Their trades were all 30% off, so I picked up The Walking Dead HC Volume 6 and the first three Sandman trades.

YES, I buy TWD each month AND the HCs, but I can't wait to read them!

Steve Rogers, when written correctly, is a man's man! He's, like, the perfect dude! I might be admitting to a bit of a man-crush here, but I've always liked Cap when he was written well. He's a leader, and he commands respect from everyone. Who wouldn't like that? Men want to be him, and women want to be with him...or something like that LOL

I'm still reading old stuff LOL! I haven't had time or resources to pick up new stuff for a few weeks now, so I'm entertaining myself with classics...

Ya know, I've never read Batman: Year One. That's Frank Miller, right? Never a huge Batman fan...just in fits and spurts. Let us know what you think!

I haven't been reading much of anything yet. Things here have just been a bit crazy. I'm hoping to get to the comic shop one day this week, but things have been so insane that I can't make any promises.

Still, I do have Batman: Year One and a JSA graphic novel that I need to get into from the library. Once I find the time....

I was reading old Swamp Things, but I got bored with 'em and pulled out The Great Darkness Saga storyline from Legion of Super-Heroes. Those that have been here a while know that it's my go-to fave story ever...

I haven't set up a new sub service for monthly releases yet...oddly enough, I haven't been jonesing for new comics, because I'm reading my old Swamp Thing comics. The original stories have a very EC Comics feel to them, with a thin plot running thru each issue. If ya'll ever find the original series in TPB form, check them out. The artwork by Berni Wrightson and Nestor Redondo is incredible!

My oldest has really gotten into Tiny Titans. We've checked out all of the compilations that our library has so far. (Though, funny story... yesterday when we were at the library, he told me he wanted to go to the Super Models. When I told him our library didn't have Super Models, he replied, "You know, Mommy. The things like Tiny Titans." How many times have you confused Super Models with Graphic Novels. :))

I picked up the DC Encyclopedia and I still have "Who is Diana Troy?" waiting to be read. It's been a busy couple of weeks so even picking up the graphic novels has been tough. But, I have been getting a bit of covert reading in - Teddy (my oldest at 5) has been wanting me to read bits from Tiny Titans for his naptime and bedtime stories. And my Pete (my 2 year old), has been wanting me to read from a Toy Story and an Incredibles GN. My family is really rockin' the comics!

DCBS is fantastic! I've been doing it for about 4 months. Discounts are 30-40% off, sometimes 50%! You order 2 months in advance, and can get shipped as often as you like. No complaints at all!

I also started using My Comic Shop online to trade for credit. They offer a price for any individual issue, so you can see what you'll get. I've been getting mostly current issues I missed when ordering, and they have pretty good discounts on tpbs.

I just got my monthly box from Discount CB service, so I'll mostly be working on that, but I'll be finally reading Spider-Man Big Time because I couldn't get 1 issue, so bought the HC online. Also been stockpiling Wonder Woman since #600, so wanted to get to those sometime.

I haven't had a chance to read them yet... too depressed about the computer situation. :) But they are on my radar for this week. I've also got Trinity, Vol 2 and Countdown to Final Crisis that I'm in the middle of, and Tiny Titans, Who is Donna Troy and Justice League: Heroes on the horizon. I should be done by... oh, mid week.

I also picked up a History Channel DVD on Superheros in comics. I'm looking forward to seeing this.

Digitek, Die Cut and Doom 2099....!!!

Those hearken to the days of the near-death of comics back in the 90s! Holofoil embossed covers, laser-cut 3D overlays...Marvel almost went under at this time! Doom 2099 actually enjoyed some success - Pat Broderick's artwork didn't hurt the series at all! All of those books from that time are guilty pleasures...well, most of them. Some of them were TERRIBLE! LOL! Enjoy your finds - let us know how you liked them!

I just read Batwoman: Elegy. It's amazing the kind of stuff you can find in a high school library. It was really good and thought provoking.

Batman Beyond is currently on constant replay in my house, since my son is fascinated with it. I don't know which is better for him, that or Thomas the Tank Engine... keep in mind, he's not quite three.

otherwise, I've been too busy sewing to read much lately.

You can make it a great day or not. The choice is yours.

I got several more books from the library today. Most of them are Teen Titans - Teen Titans Spotlight: Raven, Teen Titans Vol 4: The Future is Now and Teen Titans Vol 5: Life and Death. I also picked up Trinity, Vol 2 and Justice League Unlimited: Heroes. I read a bit of Raven while I was out at lunch with my family. I'm trying to finish up The Book Of Lies before I jump back into it, though.

I also came across a neat find at one of our local cheap-o stores. They had a whole bunch of bagged comics (2 to a set) called Super Hero Comic Book Spectacular. I picked up two of them and came out with Digitek #2, Die Cut #3, and Doom 2099 #3 & 4. I'm not really familiar with any of them, but I figure I'll give them a read and if they don't seem something I enjoy, they can go in the box with some of the other comics I'm selling to the local comic shop.

Since I still don't have a subscription anywhere, I'm not getting weekly books, which could mean trouble in some cases if a book sells out. I've been home sick, so I've rifled through my collection and found my old Swamp Thing reprints from the late 70s. Berni Wrightson art...a master! The ones I'm reading now have a very gothic feel to them and are incredibly well done. I'm going to look around for a few more to read today...if the codeine doesn't do me in =)

I'm curious what comic-related things people are reading/watching/etc right now.

On the reading front, I finished DC's Trinity, Vol 1. I'm waiting for Trinity, Vol 2, Teen Titans Vol 4 & Vol 5 to come in from the library. Before those come in, though, I've got Batgirl queued up to read.

On the watching front, I'm alternating between X-Men: Evolution and Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. Both are kid-friendly (and my boys are really enjoying both) so it's one that I can watch throughout the day with them.

I suspect I'm going to be sans comic/super hero stuff before the end of this week. I might delve back into either my Sandman graphic novels or 1602. Does anyone have other suggestions for me?
