Im happy to see some of you still here and visiting the page on occasion. Ive been gone for more than a year - it got too much of a chore trying to inspire people.................. inspiring myself sometime is chore enough.

Im doing fine - and as always - I use the Lent season to buckle down and give up sweets. Im right on course this time too - down about 9 pounds and hardly waiting for warm weather to do things like garden - and bike ride...............

Hi There
I have also been MIA for a while. When I was working, it was easy to quickly log on to SP and give an update. Since I retired...I keep busy in other ways, and unfortunately have disappeared from checking in with my groups and friends (Bad me).
I recently got a notification of a Water Challenge from a friend...and it was so nice hearing from her and I decided to jump on board.
I don't know how active I will be, but I will try harder. The support you receive from members of Sparkpeople make it worth while.We can always use a boost in your life.
I'm active at my gym and I'm there Monday thru Friday and my Church keeps me busy on the weekends. I hope to squeeze a little more time with Sparkpeople.

I realized I haven't checked in with NJ in quite a while, so I wanted to say "hi" to my fellow garden-staters! I've been on SP for 11 months now (on this go-round) and am doing well. Down 55 pounds since last February. Sticking to my program and slowly getting the weight off.

This crazy weather is insane, though! I can't believe we're going up and down 30 degrees. And the flu is just spreading like crazy. Hopefully my family won't get sick. None of us got flu shots this year and I'm thinking that maybe we should all head in to get that done...

Ive been walking 3 miles every morning............... sure is an easier thing to do when its a bit cooler. Im enjoying the cooler evenings and mornings............... and warm afternoons.

Took the grand kids to the beach yesterday...no school.

I was afraid the water would be too rough but as it turned out they had a grand time. I also thought it would be our last time there for the season but who knows. I see that we are going to have temps near 90 coming ahead. Hope its sign of a perfect Fall in NJ emoticon

I never thought about it before but most of us in NJ know somebody who lives somewhere in Florida.

I for one am hoping for some nice warm weather days to spend on the beach. We had plans for the Labor Day weekend but cancelled because of the rain. I was so disappointed. emoticon

I promised my granddaughter we would go and I can't break my promise to her!

Now that the heat and humidity are gone I have no excuse for not getting out walking. I love to walk alone. Walking alone clears the cobwebs. It gives me time to think quietly and organize a mental list of what I want or need to do.

its been months since I came here to post........... Never saw much action so I kind of gave up being the only one posting..........

Hoping you all are finding your fitness journey to be beneficial - and that you are enjoying this beautiful summer weather. Ive been walking 3 miles every day - and just thinking about attempting a 5 mile walk to the gym - workout - and then a 5 mile walk home. That would take hours - but I certainly have the time ----------- just not so sure about the energy. I bike ride to the gym all the time - but walking would be a new challenge. maybe will try it once per week. Going to have to start out earlhy to avoid the heat. Stay healthy and happy everyone

I've been trying to find active teams, too and it seems everywhere I go it's really minimal. What's up with that? Maybe people are just going on the spark cafe, or using the start page message board since so many are using the app on their phones now?

But anyway - good for you about the nighttime snacking! I usually keep 1/4 of a trader joe's dark chocolate bar for evening snack a few times a week and that makes me happy. It's less than 100 calories for that portion and I don't feel like I'm depriving myself.

I hit 20 pounds lost today so I am thrilled. It took a few months to get here, but it's been coming off slowly and pretty steadily so far. I hope by the fall I can be 50 pounds down...

this site and this team have gotten so inactive I hardly ever visit................ but I decided topop in today.

Have learned a few important things........... it is and will always be mostly about what and how you eat. Im finally losing a bit -but its because Im substituting night time snacking for protein powder and water.........sometimes a simple smoothie. COuldnt break the snack habit so had to find something that didnt do damage.Thingsare looking brightere now

Holidays are done. I had my first piece of bread today since Passover finished on Tuesday night. Not bad! Trying to keep the carbs down...

Anyone doing any races? My sister and nieces are doing a 5k cider run in Warwick in a couple of weeks. Well, probably only one of them will run, the rest will walk, but hey, good on them, right? I declined to join them when they first signed up because I just wasn't ready to start exercising yet at that time, but I have finally started moving, so I'm happy with that. I might - MIGHT - look for a 5k to do in the fall, so we'll see if that becomes a long-term goal. But maybe I'll go cheer them on in May and have a cider!

Lent is over - Easter is over and Passover is almost finished....................... time to look to spring and the blossoming of the earths bounty.

I lost a grand total of 5 pounds during my Lent fasting - feels good. I did eat some dessert for Easter but plan to stay on a modified Lenten diet going forward.................... I dont need all that sugar.

Hoping to get back into the 130s within the next 2 weeks.

we are 2 solid weeks into Lent and I hve not cheated once. Im produ ofmyself.Changing up my Lent challenge to now include lower carbs. Going togive that the next 2 weeks and then add something else for the last 2 weeks.

I spent 3/4 of January sick. Felt truly sick when I stepped on the Dr.'s scale fully clothed. The last time I saw those numbers I was 9 months pregnant (30 yrs ago). This Fat-Baby has got-to-go!!!
I got through week-1 of my 12 week workout plan (mostly at home). I was able to go to the gym yesterday since I am finally feeling better and finished with my antibiotics. I'm logging my food again to gauge where I'm falling with that.
This is not an easy ride!

Round 2 of the 2017 cold. I had a 1-week reprieve but hit with it again. I have stayed out of the gym to keep my germs to myself while staying away from those not so conscientious in hopes to get better. Today I chose to start day 1 of a 12 week workout program and just worked out at home. Glad to have accomplished this even if at 1/2 strength.

focusing on nutrition and eating well. I know it all has to start with that. I find that making a smoothie mid morning and using that as my daytime snacks helps alot. It s already prepared and in two different cups with lids in the refrigerator. When I feel the need to snack - I drink one. I also put protein powder in it. Im down about 2 pounds......... and hoping to keep the momentum going.

Now how to lose the jiggly belly fat.................................

My biggest roadblock is time.

My available times are 4:30 AM or 8 pm during the week. Neither of which are enticing.

******different ideas are popping up as I write******

I will try 1-week on my way into work (I prefer to start my day with exercise), 1-week on my way home from work and 1-week after dinner & clean-up.

Getting myself organized will be key in success. Fly lady and organize yourself skinny have great tools for this. I CAN do this!

Ive been very focussed on proper nutrtion so far. this year. Using my slow cooker and blender for smoothies alot. It helps me alot to plan meals and have healthy ones ready for dinner.
Hoping to stick to this to the tune of dropping 15p ounds.

Still nursing a cold. Made some healthy chicken soup in the slow-cooker overnight. I found an awesome replacement for croutons. It's roasted broad beans (fava beans). Makes me think about roasting chick peas or other beans myself to add a healthy crunch to salad.

Another new year, another reboot. A nasty cold has held me back from joining the throngs of people at the gym. I am taking this opportunity to eat right and plan for my success. I look forward to taking you all on my journey! Happy 2017!
