I have a spark friend who rewards herself every time she works out--by putting emoticon into a stash jar--and saving for something special she might not buy otherwise.

I am going back to that now--For each day I workout I plunk One emoticon into my personal stash. This acts as both Incentive-and reward. Why not? Don't we expect an employer pay us for our hard work? I gave them my best and was paid for it; I expect no less for the work I put into my physical health--through exercise. I think I am worth it.

The last time II did this journey I promised myself that if I lost 50 lb I would get a massage. Well I lost 70 and never did get that massage. I couldn't "justify" that expense. I know that is all kinds of crazy but there it is. This time through I'm going to reward myself...it doesn't have to be a $60 massage. It can be a $30 one. Or a pair of gngerbread sox that will remind me of my success every time I look at them. I'm still working on my first 20 lbs. I need to think of what I will do. Actuallly, I really like the idea of the socks. I will have to look into that.

I love rewards, and think it's great you are rewarding yourself with a new blouse!

I am going back to stashing money each time I work out. (Saving for something special later).

I haven't weighed myself but I did ok at the Thanksgiving meal. I had filled out my tracker for the meal even before we left the house to go to the meal at a friend's house. My problem came when my husband came home with 4 boxes of Krispy Kreme doughnuts. I had one....but when I tracked it, I was happy to see that my numbers for the day could incorporate that doughnut without putting me overboard

MA DIDDLES - I love your idea about adding hummus to tuna salad! I'm definitely going to try that.

I need to come up with some easy and creative meals and snacks. I'm rapidly getting sick of what i have in the house. I was looking at Pinterest this AM and immediately got tired just from reading about all those ideas. I need something stupid-easy ...I'm disabled and have extremely limited strength and energy. I usually go without dinner just because I'm too tired to make anything. Maybe if I make some of that tuna salad in the AM when i still have some umph. And then slap it in a whole wheat pita...that might work. Maybe.

Sauted the vegetables for the stuffing today. Dividing the cooking into smaller tasks over several days helps keep my stress under control. Made some veggie snacks at the same time so there is always something healthy in the fridge. Tomorrow I cook the giblets and Wednesday Ill make the mashed potatoes and pick up the pie from the restaurant.

DH is taking responsibility for the relishes and rolls. This is a first for him so I am hoping it goes well but will be okay if he needs help.

DD is baking the turkey, making the cranberries and steaming the green beans and hosting at her house.

Its so nice not to feel responsible for the entire meal this year.

Thanksgiving Advice From ~Indygirl:

Wear something beautiful and form fitting so you feel good about yourself and don’t want to overeat. Mindset is everything!

•Drink 16 oz water before dinner/ between plates
•Eat an Apple 🍎 before dinner
•Fill up on Turkey, Fruit, Veggies, Plant Fats first then
•Have a bit of everything you like and nothing you don’t
•Take a toothbrush/paste and brush your teeth to stop cravings when you are comfortably full
•Remember it is a meal/ not a day or week or month.
•Get seconds at your next meal, not the same meal

SHAKTI816 Best Thanksgiving advice I ever heard was Its only one meal out of 21 in the week. After Thanksgiving, remember turkey is a lean protein, a gravy portion is 2 Tbsp, veggies are to be eaten cleanly and freely, watch your starch portion sizes and add just a taste of cranberries. If desserts are an issue, ban them after enjoying your one small serving on Turkey day. I love to make turkey soup out of the leftovers and load it up with veggies.

Debbie, you are amazing. With all that is going on in your life you still find time to think of your journey and of all of us. Whats your favorite healthy meal? Hope you can make a double batch and enjoy.

I am on a good roll this week staying positive and being disciplined with my nutrition. Sometimes my biggest issue is I get ahead of myself and let myself obsess and get overwhelmed. My focus right now is to concentrate on the day and making healthy choices day after day. I gotta stop putting pressure on myself to be at a certain number by a certain date. So all in all I'm doing pretty good but I'm not gonna lie...I've had Thanksgiving on my mind since Halloween lol. I am being diligent now that way I can enjoy relaxing the restrictions a little to celebrate Thanksgiving and enjoy my favorite things guilt free.

I spent most of last week on gardening and yard work. It is all starting to look good. I am proud of my progress even if I am slow. I had planned most of my meals. I measured to watch portion sizes as well. I only lost 0.5 pounds, but it is a loss so I am happy.

Today is Sunday the start of a new week. I did get grocery shopping yesterday. so some meals are planned already. Schwans man will be coming Tuesday and I will order more of their flash frozen veggies. I love the Normandy Blend and eat it frequently. I do need to concentrate on eating my soups and stirfries that are in my freezer from my last years garden harvest. I need to make room for the harvest coming up.

Today I plan on wogging and chopping up tree roots with my new hatchet for exercise. MA

I've been thinking that I really need a game plan when I go to stay at my dad's for a few days. We are really bad influences on each other. I can count on a 3-5 lb weight gain whenever i go there (about once a month) and it usually puts me back where I'd started in recent weight loss. I don't want to give up going....I enjoy it and need to get out of my house sometimes. He eats three meals a day with almost no in between snacking. But I was never used to three full meals a day. I had been (prior to returning to Spark) eating only one meal a day, with a handful of Cheez Its if I got hungry. Now that I've been Sparking, I'm eating 3x a day....but not huge meals I need a strategy. Any suggestions?.

I’m working hard at exercise and tracking. I’m a bit disappointed to have gained 3 pounds. The old me would give up. Now, I realize that muscle weighs more than fat, exercise retains water, it takes 3600 extra calories to gain a pound. I have not eaten 3600 extra calories. Water and muscle it is. My clothes are fitting better. There is more pep in me. I do want to track and work out. I feel happier and healthier. I think the scale is a little liar liar pants on fire!

Tuna salad turned out excellent. I added roasted garlic hummus with an equal amount of light mayo.cuz I thought I was going to run out of mayo. I will do that again for sure.
Measuring this week and watching portions. 1 cup of smoothie for breakfast w/toast.
! cup of tuna salad for lunch on a spinach flat out wrap. Freggies for dinner..

It is easier to track in the nutrition tracker when you eat the same thing. It is less time consuming.

NEWSTARTGIRL ..... What a great start to your week with 4 pounds gone! I did the food clean out when we moved into the RV for 2 years. It really worked for me and DH was a great game player.

MA_DIDDLES ..... I would bruise my (backward muscles) if I tried to walk around backward.... TEE HEE emoticon I will have to stick to peddling backward with my floor cycle.

I was going to add house walking to my routine this week but that didn't happen. I did do walking though..... school programs, birthdays, 4 grandchildren coming over to spend the night, and major house cleaning for the birthday cake eating party.

The first week of my weight-buster plan went well with a loss of 4 pounds. I still need to incorporate more exercise into each day this coming week as I continue lowering my total calories. This week, in particular, I hope to eliminate all the foods that tend to cause me to be inflamed. Apparently tomatoes cause inflammation but I love them. Now that the season is over I should be able to mostly avoid them.

Shopping and meal planning done for this week.
I got all my grow boxes planted for the season.
Need to keep up with weeding and watering and other misc garden chores.

Deb - My home is small too. My living room is long, so I walk backwards a lot. One discovers a whole new set of muscles. giggling!

Hoping I will be able to get back to the pool soon. MA

Today I started a two-week weight buster plan to kick start my return to a healthy lifestyle. I have a real problem with deadlines and limits because I feel like such a failure if I don't meet them and then I get off-track. So I planned this event by eliminating all non-necessary foods from the house. Planning seems to really help me so I have frozen meals if I feel that I need food in a hurry, lots of fruits and veggies, and protein shakes available. So far today I am on track!

I plan to give the house walking a try. Our house is very small, only 1064 square feet, but I have to stop a lot due to my lower back so I certainly do not need a large area. I also want to give the nighttime munchie monster a shot. I think that's a great name for the biggest problem I have!
I had my flu shot about 3 days ago and my arm is finally feeling touchable again.....

I do have the floor and table top exercise bikes and will be using them some this week as well

Tracking is a must for me or else I underestimate or forget altogether what it is I ate. Writing it down, before I prepare the meal is a huge help, but I don't always do it that way.

I also like food tracking so I can see exactly where the calories came from: protein, carb, fat and then for example what type of carbs--is it from bread, veggies, fruit, so I can keep things in balance.

All excuses are lies.

Yesterday I posted my goal for the day was to beat the night time munchie monster. When I was tempted, I remembered and won. I will make that my goal for a few more days so that it becomes a habit again. Being able to report back here each day will give me more strength and resolve to follow through (instead of shrugging off my goal when hit with strong unhealthy habit in the evening).

10/14/19 I did good for two day but not so good on the weekend. Today I resolve to eliminate eating after supper. It's a positive thing to do but I haven't found a way to state it without using "stop" or "eliminate" or negative words. This journey is easier when I run towards something instead of running away from something. I think that's what IndyGirl has been telling us, too.

Planning my meals ahead of time. Making healthy choices. Tracking honestly. Reflecting on my thoughts. Remembering to correct false beliefs. Walking more. Exercise snacking (love that phrase).

Happy because I know its working.

2 hr wrkout on the Ifit this morning
Garden and yard work everyday for over a week. I am still at it. I weed and water everyday. I still have 6 grow boxes to cultivate and plant, more bushes to trim, plants to clean, refurbish soil and fertilize, mulching to get done. About the time I get caught up, it will be time to start over.
I do house walking and chair exercises while watching TV sometimes. There are days when I need to rest every 15-20 min. I do try to keep moving.

I need to get up and move right now. I seriously need to drop out of a challenge or 2.
Some are just to demanding of personal social time for others. The only thing I care to celebrate here are healthy living achievements and weight loses. I do not have time for another FB social media page.

I went over in calories the past two days. They were healthy calories though. I did not let my overage throw me into a binge. I exercised. I win!

Life is happening now, not 10 pounds from now.
200 plus lbs lost without surgery, crazy diets, or extreme exercise- so have hope!

House walking...I swear by it. Bad back (compression fractures L4-L5), severe degenerative knees, heart disease and COPD make regular exercise impossible. But walking, resistance bands and chair exercises I can do. Have to modify them but at least I keep moving and fighting.

“Exercise snacking refers to “fun-sized” portions of exercise that fit into a day instead of what you may have traditionally thought of as exercise.”

I read an article about exercise snacking and it motivated the socks off of me! I’ve been preaching something is better than nothing and small bouts of exercise since the beginning of my journey. Nothing hit me like the term “exercise snacking.”

Snacks are things you may not notice adding calories in the moment but really hit with an impact. Exercise snacks do the same but don’t wear you out, hurt, and they burn calories.

My favorite exercise snacks are using my desk cycle or house walking.

Devotional time on porch this morning
Raked leaves in the yard.
Planted cucumbers and got 4 more boxes ready for planting.I planted some spinach seed in a couple of egg cartons to see if I have better luck at starting them this way rather than directly in the pots.
wogging and chair exercises thru-out the day.
Did well at eating and drinking water today.

After vacuuming and walking while shopping, my back starts hurting and I dont want to cook. We ended up with grilled cheese sandwiches and canned tomato soup for dinner. Not that healthy.
