I am learning how to use it in vegan cheese-y sauces--I am NOT vegan but I do have a cholesterol problem and so I need good sauces without actual cheese to keep my intake low, or to use as a flavor booster to a small amount of actual fatfree Cheddar cheese. I was able to go to Whole Foods earlier this week and got some from bulk; will probably be getting the packaged brands from a store that is much closer to where I live in the future. If I get hold of a good recipe I will share it.

Peace out,
Mary S.

Just beginning to experiment with adding it to things... the flavor takes a little getting used to straight up. It is a great topping for beans or chili.

It's the best. I eat it straight from the jar.

I use it quite regarly in cooking. Amazon has a bulk bag by hoosier hill farm that is relatively economical. I used to always buy the Kal brand on amazon which is also good.

I do- finally found a kind that is not fortified as I do not want excess vitamins but just the food.
Sari Foods is the kind i use. I used it yesterday in a lasagna. Mixed it in with tofu. Sprinkle it sometimes on avo toast. I use it in my mac and cheese.
And cream of broccoli soup.

I love nutrional yeast. I use it whenever I want a "cheesy" flavor.

Yes, I've tried it and have exhausted my supply. Have to get some more. I bought it in the bulk food bin. I used it in the very first vegan recipe I tried...Nachos from Fork over Knife. I love that recipe & will post it in the recipe section.

Have you tried Nutritional Yeast? Nutritional yeast is NOT brewer's yeast, the kind used in baking. It's a whole 'nother animal! Just kidding, it's not an animal product at all! I am sure many of you know this. And for those who might not, nutritional yeast is a non-animal source for vegans of the B-12 vitamin, and also has high quantities of other B vitamins. I have only started using nutritional yeast recently, and I use it in place of grated dairy cheese on my spaghetti. I also use it as an ingredient in vegan White Bean Alfredo Sauce. I know some people use it on baked potatoes and sprinkle it on salad. Sources are right, it does have a nutty, almost cheesy flavor. What are some other recipes for using nutritional yeast?
