Please keep my son in your prayers. He has "walking" pneumonia. I've already been sick (week after Christmas), and I don't want it again. My son is having issues at work, too. He's almost out of sick days/hours. He really needs to be out another day, but he's afraid to take more. As it is, he's planning to change jobs, and I don't blame him one bit!

Yesterday all the infection from a blister on my left wrist drained out and left a big hole where it was. It bled a lot and hoping that the bandage holding gauze tightly on it stopped bleeding. I feel and fear that the wound is too big to form a protective scab on it on its own. So I am asking for healing prayers that the wound stops bleeding and heals so no more infection gets in it. Lessened pain also would be nice too. Thank you.

My visit with the endocrinologist went well, although my thyroid levels are a little bit low. That could be due to the trauma of heart surgery and/or the water pills I have to take right now. He was pleased with the sound of my heart.

I'm going to see the endocrinologist in a little while. This is the first time I'll see him since my heart surgery. He's the one who called attention to this condition in the first place.

This is my last day for water pill. Please pray my weight stays down and I won't need anymore of that. I'm limiting (at least trying to) my sodium intake now. That's a real "eye-opener." Hopefully, that will help prevent the water retention now.

My walks are up to at least 30 minutes/day now (once/day).

Continued prayers for successful, complete recovery are appreciated. My bp seems to be staying normal. I just have a little trouble with some dizziness (not much) on occasion. Weird thing is, it usually happens when I'm sitting, not standing.

This is a timely quote for me right now. As most of you know, I was facing heart surgery. Thankfully it's over, and it was very successful. It's hard to believe it's been almost two weeks already since the surgery, and after today, I'll have been home for a week. They kept me in the hospital an extra day to get some water retention off of me. I have to weigh myself daily to keep an eye on that. They also have me on a walking program. Everyone was wonderful, and my favorite nurse is a post-heart surgery patient herself. She had the same surgeon I did.

I may not post every day, but this is the first I've posted on the team boards since I got home. However, I did log in every day, including surgery day, on the phone app. I posted and spun the wheel before my surgery, and then did at least that every day so there wouldn't be a break. Also, I could let people know it was over (those who were watching).

Several of the doctors, nurses, and therapists were amazed at my physical fitness and ability to do things ahead of schedule. I'm happy to say I'm not on prescription pain med at this time. I really haven't been for several days. I just don't need it, and it aggravates my IBS-C. I'm up to walking 26 minutes (in 2 installments) per day. Later this week, I'll transition over to 20 minutes at one time and increase that. I chuckled and shook my head when I heard one of them tell another, "She's so little." emoticon

I'm also happy to say that I had some opportunities to share my faith, and I know the prayers of everyone made a huge difference in my success and recovery, so far.

I've been given the "green light" to go ahead and reschedule my surgery. The practitioner said to give them until sometime Monday to schedule. It was actually Thursday before I went. Wednesday was too tiring and busy to wait as long as I might have to be seen. My surgeon does surgeries on Fridays, so he wouldn't have been in the office much yesterday. I don't imagine they'll have an opening for next week, but the surgeon's assistant said they don't schedule too far into the future. I imagine it will be sometime week after next. Prayers appreciated.

Planning to go back to the regular practitioner after work this afternoon to get "cleared" for surgery. I still don't know what it was I had. I suspect it was allergies.

I'm scheduled for surgery on 2/22 @ 8:00 a.m. Prayers appreciated. I believe prayers are already being answered. It's not going to be as invasive/radical as first thought. I have n need for bypasses, and the heart is in great shape. I have no aneurysms either. He said my arteries are "beautiful." I think this might have been a different story if I hadn't been led to SP and made the strides I have, healthwise. He put the right people and tools in my path/hands. Instead of splitting my chest open and prying my ribs apart, he's going to make a 3-4" incision close to the heart and put a new valve in. There's still a slight risk, which he has to legally inform me about, but I'm confident I'll come through it. (John 11:4,40.) Instead of not being able to drive for 5 weeks, he said 2-3 weeks. Instead of being off work 2-3 months, it should only be about 6 weeks instead of 2-3 months. I know the first couple weeks will be rough, He said he'd have me up walking the first day.

I saw the cardiologist again today. He's ordered another ultrasound of the heart to see what's going on. The anxiety seems to exacerbate the heart symptoms, and the heart seems to exacerbate the anxiety. I am going back to work tomorrow (morning only). I overdid it the last two weeks before Christmas. I bit off more than I should chew, and I paid for it. I'm really going to have to learn my limits after I have the surgery -- at least for the first month or so. I'm too much of a perfectionist for my own good. We still had a nice Christmas. The cardiologist indicated I'll probably need the surgery within the year. So, 2019 (part of it) won't be so great for me. Prayers appreciated.

Please continue to keep my family (and me) in your prayers. My heart is stable right now, but I've had quite a bit of family stress lately We had a house guest who was quite the "challenge." She went home yesterday! emoticon emoticon I tried hard (and prayed a lot) to be a Christian witness, but it finally came to a head. She was actually my son's girlfriend, and they broke up yesterday. He claims he's relieved, but I'm sure he's still very disappointed. He's very vulnerable right now.

Prayer requested for our church and the family of a friend who passed away suddenly yesterday. She was only in her late 50's, but had just had surgery last Friday. She had a total hip replacement earlier this year and weathered that to go home. Then she had a less serious surgery last week, but something happened (i.e. blood clot, diabetes complication). She died in her sleep yesterday.

Son in hospital. Two surgical procedures last week. Has a wound vac that he will need when he comes home. Yesterday afternoon learned he now has C dif so must bleach down everything. Will be in both oral and iv antibiotics for six weeks. So frustrating. At times I feel like an RN but not the income. Hopefully he will be released today or tomorrow. Also have to get car into garage today as it is making weird noises.

I started using my new c-pap last night but had issues sleeping. May need different chin guard. Will give it a try until Monday. Did not sleep well last night.

I've been having a rough 2 weeks recently. Today, I finally had to admit I probably need to see my/a cardiologist sooner than later. It seems the problem might be starting to progress. Either that, or I'm having anxiety/nerve problems again. This is probably going to spoil my vacation plans for the summer -- church camp (a 200th anniversary celebration) -- not the year I wanted to miss of all years. emoticon

Plan for this summer is to seek a second opinion about the best approach to remedy the heart problem. Two of my practitioners question the wisdom or need for the open-heart method. Then I saw a story on our local news about OSU Ross Heart Center and how they make a model of your heart. They do tests on that model to see how your heart would respond to the methods of treatment. Then they decide the best for you. If they tell me open-heart is the best route to go, then that's what I'll do when the time comes. I really hope that time is down the road a few years. The cardiologist said it could be. Also, thinking I may contact my brother-in-law who's a doctor, although not a cardiologist. He had a procedure done on his heart a few months ago.

I have an appointment to see a heart surgeon on March 1st. Prayers appreciated. My cardiologist seems to believe a valve transplant via open heart surgery is the best route considering my age. It would be longer-lasting, and I'd be better off in the long run. I have another echocardiogram Friday (this week) to see if there's any digression since the one in December. Continued prayers appreciated.

Unfortunately, the echocardiogram shows the aortic valve leak is between moderate and severe, so surgery could be in the more immediate future than first thought. I'm on a medication now, but may be having a catheterization soon. It's still possible the problem could be remedied through that.

Thanks Smilingeyes2. I think it went well. I haven't heard anything back, and it's been almost 3 weeks. I have an echocardiogram the week of Thanksgiving and a leg vein ultrasound the week of Christmas. What a way to celebrate the holidays, huh? This was the first treadmill stress test. The first one I had (9 years ago) was chemically induced. My blood pressure nosedived right after they put the IV in me. Needles and an empty stomach don't mix well for me, and I got pretty sick. The cardiologist did say he thinks I may need to go off blood pressure medicine. That was one of my goals when I started losing weight. My family practitioner hasn't been too cooperative. Low blood pressure can be just as serious as high blood pressure, I think. I'm not talking about normal range compared to high range either. My blood pressure that morning was 90/50! I did get my heart rate up to where they wanted it without chest pain. I was barely winded, in fact.

The thyroid is starting to even out. I'm gaining more momentum, and my nerves are settling down, somewhat.

It seems the thyroid problem will be easily corrected with a new medicine and a lower dosage. He said the generic isn't that good because it's not regulated well enough. Unfortunately, I have a heart murmur that is getting worse. My family practitioner has been too nonchalant about it. So, a visit to a cardiologist is in the picture for the near future. My father had the same thing (leaky heart valve). Prayers appreciated. I was hoping the way I felt was associated with the thyroid problem. My father also had thyroid problems, and his sister died from heart complications related to a goiter. Of course, in those days, they didn't know as much as they know now.

Prayers appreciated for me. I see an endocrinologist for the first time tomorrow morning (since I was diagnosed 32 years ago). I hope I get some answers and that nothing is seriously wrong. I've had a rough few months, and the last two weeks, especially week before this past one, have been especially tough. I made it through an entire week of work and survived.

She went home today (home not meaning Heaven this time). She has some problems with her sugar and blood pressure, but it wasn't pneumonia, thankfully. They have her on meds for both of the other problems. Her daughters said she needed this time away from home; she was actually joking with the nurses. The girls said she just needed a rest and a change of scenery.

Yes, it is. However, now my husband's aunt (the mother of the young man who recently passed away) was taken to the hospital tonight and is not doing well. His passing has been hard on her, understandably. Plus, she is near 90 years of age. He was the baby of the family. Prayers appreciated again for this family. emoticon

Once again my husband's family has lost a loved one. In fact, it's one I mentioned in my last post last month. My husband's cousin who has been 2-years-clean from drugs passed away suddenly last Saturday morning. He had recently been promoted to full-time with a good raise at his job. He is the youngest of his family, and this is extremely difficult for his family. It appears it was probably a heart attack; he'd been under a doctor's care, but no one saw this coming. Thankfully, he was ready to go, spiritually speaking. emoticon

Thank you SmilingEye. I'm also on here to report a praise. I don't know how many of you might remember me asking for prayers for my husband's uncle's wife (about 2 years ago). She passed away nearly two years ago. Today, my husband's uncle is getting remarried to a very nice lady. So, today should be a "happy day." We are happy that he found a new love for the rest of his life. She's a good Christian lady, and has already enriched his life. Please do remember his late wife's family; I'm sure today is sort of sad for them, although they will wish him well. I realize his kids may still be having some difficulty with this too. I think they are trying to be happy for their dad, though. My husband's family is a good group of people. Then, next Sunday, we have a family reunion with the same people. One of the cousins is 2-year's-clean from drugs, and he recently became a Christian. He's now planning to go back to school to become a drug counselor.

My sister-jn-law is finished with her cancer treatments! They found her cancer did not have estrogen in it, so she won't be taking the estrogen blocker like they originally though she would.

God has been good to our family!
