emoticon Dianne.

Do you have any ideas to get the smell out of a carpet after a dog has gone on it? I soaked it up with paper towels and sprayed it with Thieves Cleaner, but I guess not enough. It smells horrible. I think if I can't get the smell gone I will have to cut out another piece of carpet.

Has anyone on here tried the Slique blend or the tea for their diet? I have tried a couple drops of the oil in tea before (not the Slique tea, though), but I can't stand the taste of it.

Do you have any oils or herbs you like to specifically use during the winter? I usually end up with a stuffy nose when sleeping all fall and winter, so always order eucalyptus. I also got Christmas blend and Thieves cleaner.

For herbs I only have orange mint and lemongrass that I am going to try in tea.

While it's not something I grew or essential oils, I am trying some golden milk to help get rid of the pain I have been in for a few days. It's coconut milk, turmeric, pepper, cinnamon, cardamom, and clove (I think on the last two). Turmeric needs some fat with it to be effective, and some pepper, so I added a little bit of butter/olive oil mixture.

Natural Insect Repellant Spray

Lavender Lavandula angustifolia oil: 15 drops
Lemon eucalyptus Eucalyptus citriodora oil: 10 drops
Tea tree Australia Melaleuca alternifolia oil: 10 drops
Lime Citrus aurantifolia oil: 6 drops

Bergamot Citrus aurantium var. bergamia oil: 6 drops
Distilled water: 2 ounces
Vinegar from your kitchen: 2 ounces (I prefer white vinegar, but apple cider works too! Leave the balsamic for the Caprese salad!)
Blend all the ingredients and put into a spray bottle. Shake well before using. Note: Both bergamot and lime are photosensitive oils. This is an aromatic blend meant to be diffused into the air around you and is not intended for topical or internal use.

Seen somewhere a recipe using oils to keep flies away and now can't find it. Anyone else know what oils to use?

Oily First Aid

My husband was fixing the pellet gun for our oldest today when, even after my husband removed the clip and cleared the chamber, it shot a pellet hitting my youngest in the back of his upper arm - he was standing less than a foot away.

I don't even want to think about the scream that came from my youngest emoticon

Immediately I had my youngest come into my room, take his t-shirt off and I put on a layer of coconut oil & vegetable glycerin followed by Lavender, Aroma Siez, PanAway and one drop of Peppermint, then one more layer of coconut oil & vegetable glycerin. Before I was even done applying the layers 90% of the redness had gone away and my youngest said that about 50% of the pain was gone as well. Here we are a little over 12 hours since it happened and if you didn't know what it was to begin with, all that's left looks like a mosquito bite!

I'm going to put one more round of coconut oil, vegetable glycerin & Lavender on it for the night just to continue the healing. I couldn't be more thankful for my Young Living Essential Oils!

Sorry Haven't been by of late. I have been struggling with feeling depressed. Doing my essential oils and am feeling better. Vitevier really helped me. This weekend I had my first raindrop technique treatment. I felt better than after having a massage. It was amazing.

A few weeks ago I also ate my first dandelion. Quite tasty. Guess it has been a time of some firsts. emoticon

Have a good week!

Hi Kelly! Well I am a newbie to essential oils, but I use peace and calming to distress. I diffue it and have found that it does mellow me out more. It is a blend of Tangerine (Citrus nobilis), orange (Citrus aurantium), ylang ylang (Cananga odorata), patchouli (Pogostemon cablin) and blue tansy (Tanacetum annuum).

I have started using oregano oil to treat my toenail fungus (gross I know, but most people have it).

I am also working on emotional stuff --trying to have less negative emotions so I have been using harmony (blend of Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia), sandalwood (Santalum album), ylang ylang (Cananga odorata), frankincense (Boswellia carteri), orange (Citrus aurantium), angelica (Angelica archangelica), geranium (Pelargonium graveolens), hyssop (Hyssopus officinalis), spruce (Picea mariana), Spanish sage (Salvia lavandulifolia), rosewood (Aniba rosaeodora), lemon (Citrus limon), jasmine (Jasminum officinale), Roman chamomile (Chamaemelum nobile), bergamot (Citrus bergamia), palmarosa (Cymbopogon martinii), and rose (Rosa damascena) for that.

I have found that their Theives toothpaste and mouthwash is absolutely changing my gums! I used to have have allergic reaction to something in regular toothpaste that would cause a skin sluffing of my cheeks about 30 mins after I would brush my teeth. I don't get this with their toothpaste and I am seeing an absolute change in the puffiness in my gums (not that they were bad), but a definite improvement. There is no junk in their stuff and it works!.

I use peppermint for my headaches, not lavender. The peppermint I put on my temples and the headache goes away shortly thereafter.

I am still learning and need to be more consistent with using my oils for the negative feelings I have for myself, but I am a baby just learning to crawl. emoticon

Welcome Sarah! I would love to learn more about your experience with essential oils. I have a bit of herbal knowledge but no training in essential oils. I use them of course in my skin and body care preparations as well as soap and shampoo that I make. And we could not survive in this household without tea tree essential oil or lavender essential oil. We use the lavender almost daily. My hubby gets bad headaches and migraines and lavender helps him more than anything. I use lavender regularly to de-stress. But as for actual healing with essential oils, I would love to hear of your own experience!

I hope everyone has a nice day! I'm making Rose's white bean and ham soup and plan to get some work done outside. My little seedlings in the dining room window are begging to be transplanted outside!
