If the tracker is counting it as a workout, I would reclassify it. If it isn't counting it as a workout, I would say to go ahead and add it manually.

Hi. My question is when I should reclassify versus adding a workout. The tracker doesn't seem to pick up some of my aerobic classea as a workout since many of them are bootcamp types or Tabata. Should I add tge fitness minutes separately or will that mess up the step numbers because the steps are still tracked. Thanks! And I am loving my tracker. It has got me back on track at least as a start.

It looks like you already disconnected your Spark from your account, but any workout events that were recorded would have been transferred to your Fitness Tracker page and that data would remain on your account. The other data is what is removed.

Well, when I looked up how to delete the tracker from my spark page tracker, it says
1. go to main activity tracker page
2. click the goal /settings link
3 click disconnect now at bottom of page.
it says I will loose data, what data will I loose?
I cannot find a disconnect button.
Where is it?

My tracker is no longer working. It does not light up when tapped and
it is not putting any information in the site.
Very sad.

MIAJOEB - Unfortunately, there isn't a way to do that. If you have both set up on your account, they will both show up. For it to do what you are asking, you would have to disconnect one of them.

Thanks, Coach Denise.

I believe I am wearing the tracker correctly, I think the elliptical must rotate more like a bike, but I do get a good work out, better than on the bike, so I just reclassify. It's not a big deal, I was just curious.

Have a good week!

I want to get the number of paces from the fit bit to predominate on my account.
Is there a way I can do this without disconnecting my spark people tracker?
I tend to find it harder to keep track of it so I end up not using it. If I do not have it it does not count all the steps I take. So I have days when I have over 10,000 steps a day but the spark tracker does not count it. I do not care as much about the minutes. How do I set up which tracker should predominate. I like both and most days they tell a similar story.
But I do water aerobics and I Love the way the tracker keeps track of high activity minutes.
I just love the Fit Bit Flex too.

Is anyone else having a similar problem? I could not find my spark activity tracker today so my 8000 steps with my water aerobic class does not count.

COLUMBINE2 - Cycling activity should only be tracked when the Spark tracker is worn on the shoe and tracks more than 10 minutes of continuous activity as circular or "orbital" motion. However, in certain use cases if the Spark is positioned incorrectly this could also track when worn on the upper body. This should be pretty rare, but if it is happening for you often, we would recommend trying to wear the Spark on the shoe location [Make sure it is flat on your laces and parallel to ground with the open end of the clip pointing towards the toe. Also make sure it is firmly clipped and not flopping around - we find its best to try to get it through at least 2-3 laces (which really snugs it down)] if possible for longer exercises or on the waistband/belt as closely to the side "hip" location. This should prevent cycling activity from being tracker incorrectly.

In regards to the step counts, generally, when you reclassify a workout event (walk, run, or unspecified) it takes the length of the workout and multiplies it by the pre-categorized amount of "steps per minute" for the activity type selected. This steps per minute value is derived from the Surgeon Generalís published figures for Steps per Minute of various activities. So if you are reclassifying an event, you may see higher or lower step values based on the activity.

Also, when you reclassify, it changes your steps/calories/etc. However, while this changes your display/results on the site, it doesnít update your light progress and totals on your Spark device. So for the day, your Spark and the site will show different step counts.

With the calories burned portion, that is going to be an estimate, not an exact measure. Using a heart rate monitor that gives you that amount would be your more accurate amount since that is monitoring your actual heart rate, but even with that there is some error. The Spark will give you calories burned amounts based on that activity that are used from proven studies over time.

Hope that helps!

Coach Denise

WINDY01 - It could be that the stride length on the elliptical is very close to the motion of that on the bike. Various ellipticals have different stride length and the Spark may be picking up more of a cycling motion on your elliptical rather than the elliptical motion.

When wearing it on your shoe, make sure it is flat on your laces and parallel to ground with the open end of the clip pointing towards the toe. Also make sure it is firmly clipped and not flopping around - we find its best to try to get it through at least 2-3 laces (which really snugs it down).

I'm recovering from knee surgery & riding my stationary bike at a low level of resistance. My SAT is classifying that as a run/walk & the calories burned are much less than my bike shows.

How can I accurately record the calorie burn? And I have no idea how to analyze if the "steps" or miles are accurate right when I'm actually riding a bike. I really need the motivation & feedback to stay motivated.

Hi!
I just wanted to mention that my tracker thinks I'm riding a bike when in fact, I'm on the elliptical machine. I reclassify every time, and the calorie counts actually change pretty close to what the machine at the gym said I did, I know I burn more on the elliptical because I also do the bike later on, and I'm never as sweaty as I am on the elliptical. Anyway, not that big of a deal, just wondering why my tracker can't tell the difference. Thaniks!
Linda aka: windy01

Wanted to also mention that I'm wearing the tracker on my shoe. I only put it on my bra when I get home for the night, but by then most of my walking is done! Anyway, I really love my tracker, and I feel it has gotten me moving a lot more that I was!

I haven't used a street strider, but it looks like it's a cross between a bike and an elliptical. For the motion that you do on that, I would think that perhaps an elliptical would be the best reclassification. It's just a guess though since I haven't used a street strider and am only going by info I see online.

Wow 1550 days without soda awesome. Does anyone have ideas on how to calibrate or repost a workout on a street strider. I really love my Spark Activity Tracker but it seems to be flummoxed by my Street Strider workouts. emoticon

Where do I find goals/settings?

I made the mistake of reclassifying a cycle workout today. There needs to be a stationary bike entry. My gym uses Polar equipment. My 30 minute workout says I did 11 miles and burned 212 calories. The only choices are bicycling and each speed category I chose did not match up with what I actually did. Since I made the mistake of choosing to reclassify, I could not go back.

I've also asked this on another thread, but why should recalssiying change my number of steps? That is the most annoying thing about the tracker.

emoticon What would you classify Leslie Sansone WATP DVDs as? Moderate Aerobics? I do keep up with her for Most of the 15 - 20 minute workout, but especially towards the end and with the Arm Movements overhead I have to modify a bit, but I am Always out of breath, sweaty, and my Heart Rate is UP, LOL!!

edited to add: I used the "Firm Resistance Band" for this workout, if that would make a difference?

So how does one recalibrate or even calibrate the tracker? Interesting that the question of how to was completely side stepped and never answered.

1. If you go to your Activity Tracker page and scroll down, you'll see the entries that are coming from the device. Hover over one and you'll see a button that says "reclassify".

2. Calibration does indeed help a lot with distance, but it will not affect your steps, calories, or minutes. So our opinion is that calibration is good to do if you can, especially if you want more accurate distance measurements. But it is not essential for everyone to do.

Hope that helps,

Hello y'all,

I just have 2 questions that arose from reading other posts. I would search, but I can't seem to find a search bar just for this team.

#1. How do I reclassify workouts that show up automatically from the Tracker sync?
#2. How do I calibrate the Tracker itself and how important is it to do it?

Thanks in advance!
