I am still reading the Heist. It was my book to read while I was home sick. I read some before bed and weekends. I just picked up Full Blast. I enjoy Janet's books so much while I commute. Characters from previous book or back. Nick is grown up, Dee Dee is still married to the Wrestler. I am really enjoying it. Libraries are sure wonderful.

I am reading The Light in the Ruins by Chris Bohjalian. I really like it. It jumps back and forth between 1943 and 1955. I also checked Wicked Appetite out of the library. I haven't started it yet, but maybe today. I read Wicked Business and really liked it. I am reading Lions of the West by Robert Morgan to my husband. He would rather I read to him than he read to himself. He doesn't get bored as quickly, and he can do other things while listening.

ooooo! New profile picture! Its like a Chagall with all the blues.
Thanks for the info on Paolini and Eragon. How is the moving and settling in going? I just finished another Sookie book "Dead to the World" I am kind of wishing Eric hadn't gotten his memory back but we couldn't have that now could we. I totally admit that I loved all that happened to that B Debbie Pelt! Now I have a pile of other books to read from Mercedes Lackey and then I'll be looking to find the next book in the series.

I thought the Dexter books might be that way!

Here you go Kacey

Author(s) Christopher Paolini
Cover artist John Jude Palencar
Country United States
Language English
Series Inheritance Cycle
Genre(s) Young adult
Fantasy novel
Publisher Paolini LLC (first edition), Alfred A. Knopf
Publication date 2002 (first edition), August 26, 2003 (Knopf)

Eragon is the first book in the Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini, who began writing at the age of 15. After writing the first draft for a year, he spent a second year rewriting it and fleshing out the story and characters. Paolini's parents saw the final manuscript and decided to self-publish Eragon. Paolini spent a year traveling around the United States promoting the novel. By chance, the book was discovered by Carl Hiaasen, who got it re-published by Alfred A. Knopf. The re-published version was released on August 26, 2003.
The book tells the story of a young farm boy named Eragon, who finds a mysterious stone in the mountains. A dragon he later names Saphira hatches from the stone, which was really an egg. When the evil King Galbatorix finds out about Eragon and his dragon, he sends his servants, the Ra'zac, after them in an effort to capture them. Eragon and Saphira are forced to flee from their hometown, and decide to search for the Varden, a group of rebels who want to see the downfall of Galbatorix.
Critiques of Eragon often pointed out the similarities to other works such as Earthsea and Dragonlance. Reviews also called the book a notable achievement for such a young author as Paolini. Eragon was the third-best-selling children's hardback book of 2003, and the second-best-selling paperback of 2005. It placed on the New York Times Children's Books Best Seller list for 121 weeks. Eragon was adapted into a feature film of the same name that was released on December 15, 2006. It was directed by Stefen Fangmeier and written by Peter Buchman. The film starred Ed Speleers in the role of Eragon and Garrett Hedlund as Murtagh.

Yes, Dexter's books are much more intense, especially the images you can create.

I don't think I would read the Dexter books. I forget quickly what I watch on tv but in the books they form pictures in my mind and they tend to stay , you know?

Does anyone else know of these Eragon books? The author? Yaeme doesn't seem to be around.

Yaeme can you give me an author and a title for the first Eragon book?

Is that like Dexter on the tv series? I kind of liked the premise but him sitting in a pool of blood in a storage container was a bit much for me I thought. They took the series off regular TV so I never got to see it after that. They were just about to find where he dumps his bodies and then rats and mice! Never got to find out what happened. Any body know?

Am just about to read my first Anne Rice Vampire chronicles book, Interview with a Vampire. I hope its better than the movie. I am on my fourth Sookie Stackhouse book . I saw the Eragon movie and had hoped for sequels to it. I didn't know there were books... who writes them and do you know the titles of the first two in the series?

Everything! Mostly Anne Rice, I like the Sooki/True Blood series, there is a lot of differences between the books and the show. I also indulge in my daughters young adult series; like vampire academy, and the house of knight series. Oh! and the Eragon books!

Always move forward

Thanks for the links, I'll give them a look at. No it definitely wasn't Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The woman apparently was somehow caught up in the werewolf world because she could breed with them and they wanted the werewolf cubs to build up the population. But she gets rescued by a Vampire whom she falls in love with and becomes his mate and lives in a small circle of his vampire friends. anyway it was several years ago and a very interesting series if only I could remember who wrote it.
Btw I read the first Sookie book yesterday Dead until Dark. It was pretty good. Interesting enough to take a look at the next one in the series. I just can't see how she is going to handle this thing with living with the undead and being a live person so different from them. And then there is Sam.what's gonna happen there? I suspected Rene or Sam to be the killer. Because Rene just seemed to nice to be true. What are the Trueblood shows like? Are they out on DvD?

The Harper Connelly series is about a girl that had been hit by lightening and ever after can find dead people and hear their last moments so knows how they died.

Here is the link to Charlene Harris's page about those books

I loved Dark Shadows with Barnabas Collins although we couldn't get the program too often in Canada. The other sounds either like Buffy or the books by Jeannine Frost - here is her link

oh really? boring with description sounds like a Hemingway sort of book that I snoozed thru in HighSchool. Did you ever read the Old Man and the Sea? ZZZZZZZZZ
I'll probably give them a pass. Its not in books that I know of, but I kind of liked Diary of a Vampire on tv until that really evil vampire showed up and it turned into a constant sibling fight. Then I left it. Way back I watched Dark Shadows but it wasn't almost never about the Vampire killing a victim. I can't think who wrote them now but there was a series where this one vampire actually helped the vampire destruction squad and was a love interest to the female main character on the squad. Were some hot scenes in that series for sure and they didn't wait for the morning. She had some werewolves in that series as well. Wish I could remember who the writer was because I'd love to see if she has any new books out.
What are Charlene Harris's Harper books about ?

I didn't find the books as gory as most. The show True Blood... well... that just is really gory and soft porn too and the series is now nothing at all like the books. The first three seasons kind of nodded at the books and now is off on some other story line.

I really love Charlene Harris's Harper series but I found the Sookie ones fun too. I actually found Ann Rice descriptively boring... on and on and on and building up to a romantic moment and then jumping to the next morning. Honestly I never really liked her books

How were the books? I admit I like some vampire books but not gory violent ones. I won't watch a vampire movie anymore because its so graphic its gross. Some one told me Anne Rice writes good vampire books but I haven't checked that out yet.

Yes, I do believe that they may cross although so far all the books I am looking for I get right from Kobo Canada which is great. I do shop Amazon.com and Amazon.ca

Yup, Sookie is Sookie Stackhouse and I did finish the 13th book and it really is the end of the series. I really did like how she ended it up. There is a book after it that finishes up all the characters by short stories. I will probably get that later.

If I am right You have Amazon.com in Canada right? They have a kindle reading section that most of the libraries here send you too for you kindle books. Maybe it works for Kobo in Canada.
Is the Sookie character you mentioned Sookie Stackhouse a fictional character and protagonist of The Southern Vampire Mysteries book series, written by Charlaine Harris. Are you on the 13th book? There is talk on the net that its the last book of the series.

I am looking forward to setting it up at my new place. A Kobo reader is just the Canadian version of a Kindle. Right now I am collecting my favourite read-again series and then I will be getting the rest from the library.

Just finishing up the Madelyn Alt series (waiting for the latest to come out though) although I have to say that I just would love to smack the main character Maggie. What a twit. I love the rest of the characters in the book except of course for Maggie's mother and sister and wish Maggie would stand up for herself but maybe that is later. The mysteries are good though.

Most Public libraries now have Ebooks and Audio books that can be downloaded to your tablet or kindle as well as computer. And a lot of them use the Overdrive console for them I get mine from Chicago Public Libraries and they cost nothing, there is just a restriction on how long you can have them.

I am also reading Wicked Appetite and Wicked Bad and some other JE books not in the Plum adventures. Keeps me busy.

not sure what a Kobo is but Amazon.com has a kindle library of a ton of books and, especially if Mercedes Lackey has a page there I'll bet you could find them. I don't know where you are moving to, as I came in just as you were going to look at some places wherever it was. But there is an online library that you can get all sorts of e books from for computer or phone app or tablet, I think maybe kindle too. They are really inexpensive. You download something called Overdrive Media Console to your whichever, mine is on my laptop. and then you can read, rent e books from them. I don't know if they go everywhere but I think in most of the States they do. Its called OverDrive this the link:

Yes, those are really great books Kacey. I like them too. I just finished the last Sookie and I must say I like how the author tied up most loose ends and who Sookie ended up with but I think by the end of the second last book I knew it was going to happen. I read reviews that said they were disappointed but you know, I like how at the beginning she put the notes about how this was how she saw the series going and stuck to what she wanted to do with Sookie and I liked it. I really do.

Will I re-read them, you bet I will emoticon
And you know, I wonder if I can get a few of the Mercedes Lackey books that I wanted to read but couldn't find them in print on my kobo reader

Mercedes Lackey books. I like the way she takes the old fairy tales like Sleeping Beauty or Cinderella and makes a whole new story thats fantasy but not made for children, yet she sticks to the story elements of the original fairytale.

I will have to check those books out. Thanks, I am re-visiting the Sookie books since I see the last one in the series is coming out soon.

Just an update - I now have the last one but I am still going to keep reading from the first to end. I am on the 4th one now.

I really enjoy M.C. Beaton's cosy mysteries especially the Hamish MacBeth series. He is a village policeman who keeps some sheep, pets, and enjoys his country life while solving crimes and mischievously avoiding the wrath of his boss who hates him. These are funny, lighthearted "cosy" mysteries that transport you away from any troubles you may have.
( Of course i am also reading some books about healthy living such as "Salt, Sugar, Fat".)

I just finished Perfect Peace by Daniel Black. It was amazing. I am reading Bertrice Small's The Border Lord's Bride. I listen to Janet Evanovich books when I commute. She does crack me up. I enjoy the interviews with her at the end of some of the audio books.

I like the Tim Dorsey books. Of course, I started with one in the middle of the series, so I was like "what the heck???" It was like an acid trip in print. lol Once I realized that there were 5 or 6 before the one I started on, they made a lot more sense.
I also like the Kim Harrison, Jim Butcher, Christopher Moore, Karen Marie Moning's Fever series. I'll read just about anything. I love the free books on Kindle.

I like Iris Johansen Novels... She has some that are romance and some that are more like Janet's books. Tami Hoag is pretty good as well she is more of a mystery writer. And I am just getting into Nora Roberts (J.D. Robb) her two different styles of writing. But I am always looking for more suggestions.
