LOL, Diana, you are still amazing!

Travelbug, what a wonderful gift you are giving your brother while he heals. I'm sure he will be grateful to return to a near, clean home. Bless you!

It has been an incredibly busy Saturday for me. I got up early to shower and cook a nutritious breakfast, then see DH out the door for his flight to start training. I cleaned the kitchen and headed out for a vigorous mixed yoga class, and did grocery shopping and stopped at the hardware store on the way home. Then I went to get the car washed (exterior) on my way to my deep-tissue massage. I returned home to finish cleaning the car's interior, do some laundry, change the bed linens, and vacuum/scrub the rugs in the workout area. Then i started cleaning out under the kitchen sink before I ran out of steam and decided to do some SP time. And here I am!

Hi all, I haven't done anything at my house in the past few days. I'm staying with my brother who had extensive facial surgery on Thurs. (after a fall off of his bike.)
But being a constant putterer.....I'm organizing and cleaning stuff in his house.
My SIL has to be out of town and so I have lots of time to putter and clean.
Today I'm going to clean the rails on all the sliding glass doors.... ha ha

When I get home - I'll be back to my organizing and purging of "Junk".

LADY I did have one in the past. I used it a few times and it seemed to work pretty well. I use Easy Off.

AVOVATA what a clever idea for storage. Adding a little class to your drawers with origami! It feels so good to donate and get rid of some clutter.

Celia I am sporadically amazing. LOL I told DH today when I woke up so sore I groaned all around the house that he was grounded. I knew if I felt sore he had to feel many times worse since he does most of the heavy lifting. I called and scheduled him a massage today and I went to an antique store and spent my massage money!

So, the only thing I got done today was go shopping for chain saw chains and lunch with DS and DH. We needed a day off!

Tomorrow we will go get a backhoe to move around a load of topsoil we ordered today. I will also do my laundry including the stuff left behind by DS. We will wash it and take it to him since he ignores our request to take it with him every time he is here! Thereís more than one way to skin a cat!

Happy weekend

Diana, you're amazing! Good luck with that house.

Lady, I use my self-cleaning feature, but I have a cabinet above the oven, and I open the doors, because the self-cleaning process generates a LOT of heat. I also try to wait for cooler days, if I can because of all that heat.

Avovata, I had to chuckle because I'm really good at hiding clutter in drawers until they burst.

Today, my crowning achievement before heading off to ST and the grocery store was washing a load of towels.

Wow, you people are so motivating, and busy. This month I took the opportunity to clean out a lot of clutter from my storage closet while all the camping supplies were out, and I could get in there properly. I donated three large bags of clothes and stuff from there.

Today I cleaned off the top of my bedside table, and the inside drawer. I'm amazed at how much crap I managed to shove in there. A small bag of garbage came from that, and many items were relocated to better places. I've started making cute little origami boxes as dividers for my drawer to hold the little things like lip balm, post its, etc. You use double sided tape on the bottom to keep them from sliding around.

Celia hot dates always top organizing! We have been busy little bees. I have been falling into bed at night.

CMR I hate cleaning the stove. Good for you!

LQUEST I canít believe summer is over so fast. I bet you are happy to finish up your trim. Those are things that can get away from you if you donít pay attention. After a while you donít even see that it isnít done!

I missed posting. I was so busy. We have most of the big stuff taken care of for now on that house anyway. I bagged the most of the trash in the house today and we cut down the remaining small brush around the house and hauled it off. I was surprised I still had so much trash inside the house. I thought I finished today and when we walked through I found the cabinets had more stuff in them. So, I guess one more day of trash duty. We still have a section of front porch to finish as well, but at least DH has to do that! LOL

Looking forward to our vacation at the end of the month!

Glad to see you again, Diana! Looks like you've been busy!

I installed the trim around the last doorway today! Now I can put my clothes hamper back where it belongs! I've had the wood for the door and window trim stacked there. Als glued the trim on some cornices I designed.

At work I finished up an excel spreadsheet of information about my students.

Summer vacation is done. Back to work tomorrow!

Wow, Diana, I wondered where you had gone. Sounds like an amazing transformation on your house. I'm impressed, because I would not have the fortitude to face the Herculean task you tackled.

Still stressing at work with budget matters and no time to clean. I go straight from a late telcon to a hot date with hubby.

Hi everyone. I have been too busy to post this month!

We bought a new house ready for demolishion. In order to get it off the list of demos we had to put on a new porch in 114 degree heat and clean out the insides which was a nightmare since the previous owners were hoarders. We hauled off a trailer and a half of items yesterday and I will try to wrap it up today.

I was able to bag 10 bags of items for charity. We also cut down two hundred year old dead trees out front. It has been a busy August!

I picked up a bit, went in at work and entered quite a bit of data on a spread sheet, installed trim around my front door and went to Mass to sing for the Assumption.

I confess to getting no de-cluttering or cleaning done. It was one of the roughest days I've had at the office, with the boss on vacation the week all the end-of-fiscal-year decisions were due. I ran out of steam to even talk to anyone before the end of the day, and at one point the budget analyst was in tears. Hoping for a better tomorrow.

Did a load of laundry.
Got rid of a bag of trash.
Painted eight rosettes for my door trims.
Organized two grade levels of IEP's at work.
Started a spreadsheet of information about incoming students.
Picked up curtain rods.
Installed shelf bracket/cornice hangers I created for the curtain rods.
Installed the rods and rehung the old curtains temporarily until I get the new curtains made.
Cleaned up the sawdust from drilling.
Put second coat of paint on the rosettes.
Going to dry that load of clothes and eat some dinner! Woohoo!

Sorry I haven't been around. Just busy.

As for being busy, one thing I have been doing is going through all my old magazines and ripping out what I want and recycling the rest! I'm then filing them in a container.

I also redid my closet organization. Tosses / donated all I don't wear or use. Got bins for shoes, instead of the boxes, and just cleaned it! I redid my dresser too!

Reorganized my bathroom closet and under the sink. I have lots of stuff and little space in my house, so time to clean and toss / donate / and at the end of the month we are doing a Flea Market (whatever doesn't sell, gets donated... no back into the house.

I went through my cubs / boys clothes too. They actually enjoyed doing it this year... surprising!

Still have a lot more to do, but have been busy enjoying life too. Summer will be over for the cubs in two weeks, so time to have fun and pick up when school starts back up.

Looking forward to doing...

finish little touches on my house

I'm working to sort boxes of old photographs. What a project! I have way too many to put in albums, and frankly some of them are not of album quality. Do I keep them anyhow? I hate to just throw them out. Maybe I can mail some of them to relatives, including my grown children.

Went back to work today and spent half a day organizing in my classroom. Got four boxes of things out of there. I returned items I do not use that belong to the district to the central office. I filed a stack of books. Then printed out my class roster and copied IEP's for two classes out. I met a potential aid for the room and called it a day.

At home I installed the wood trim around one doorway. In a moment I'm going to put a load in the washer and do one more doorway before having some dinner.

Another great decluttering day for me yesterday. Finished the Flylady Decluttering Games:
Day 11 (office desk), Day 13 (hot spots), Day 15 (3 tasks that I modified from Flylady's), and Day 16, Dresser Drawer Deep Dive. I can now see my desk top, my desk basket has only a few pieces of paper in it, and the remaining clothes don't jam when I try to open the drawers.

In addition, I ran an errand for DH, did the laundry, got in all my fitness (cardio, ST, and yoga), played with the cat, and got a pedi. I feel so efficient! And jazzed!

Today I gave my front door a second coat of fresh paint on the outside and inside. Went to school (I teach) and worked in classroom for a couple hours, then did a load of laundry and watered outdoor plants. Am getting ready to hang out laundry, spray door screen with hose and attack a pile of clothing in my bedroom!

Blessings, ND, as you grieve the loss of your brother.

Broadbrush, know what you mean about one inconsiderate person. I'm no great shakes in the housekeeping department, but my step-daughter seemed to take delight in leaving her dishes unrinsed (bug attactors), and she couldn't lower herself to actually wash anything.

Yesterday was a banner day for me. I got so far behind on the Flylady de-cluttering games during the work week, but yesterday I did these:
Day 8 - my closet. I can see the floor now! There is no place for the cat to hide in there anymore. My closet was my June project, and although the shelves could stand some de-cluttering, I'm ready to declare victory.
Day 9 - septathlon of 7 small tasks - done.
Day 10 - gather recycling - done, though this is a daily upkeep item.
Day 12 - shine all the sinks in the house (actually did this Friday when I cleaned all the bathrooms)
Day 14 - This was actually the Friday job of 7 tasks that resulted in clean bathrooms, including the floors and mirrors. Yesterday, I added laundering the rugs.

In addition, I paid bills, mopped the kitchen floor, changed the hummingbird nectar, attacked virtual clutter in my e-mail account, set up my work backpack for the week, went to yoga, did the grocery shopping, and took care of some minor home errands.

Today, I'll work on Day 11 (office desk), Day 13 (hot spots), Day 15 (3 tasks that I modified from Flylady's), run an errand for DH, and finish an administrative task for the homeowner's association.

My daughter is here and she is so good at organizing, didn't get my A.D.D. personality thank the Lord. She knows where to start and keeps going until she is done. I love her so much and my son who pitched in and helped too. I think I have been not only not feeling well but finally facing my grief after losing my brother 3 years ago. I feel some hope now although I know I am up against another hard year but I am going to focus on the positive.

I like the idea of the spring top garbage can for pop cans is great. thanks!

isn't it amazing how many sm grocery bags are collected. I started using them to line my bowl when I peel or clean fruits and veg. then I either take it to my compost pile or throw it out after I tye it , when I throw out anything that will get smelly I first put it in the sm bags and after tiying, toss it in the regular garbage.

I actually sorted my mail today, and my maill area was neat enough to make it a snap to sort
maybe i finally found a system that works

knuckles - i can tell you that just one inconsiderate lout in the family - which i have - who never lifts a finger to clear, or clean up - doesnot even know how to open the dishwasher door - will trash your kitchen in a matter of seconds with no remorse whatsoever.
in fact, i think he lies in wait until it is all cleaned up again so he can come back and trash it some more - i hope there is justice in the hereafter believe me!!!!

I didn't do much organizing/clearing today. In fact I'm making a bigger mess by sewing!!
I'm making a couple of table runners - They are fast and easy - but any sewing for me will make a mess.
It is still hotter than Hades here !!!!!
I went to my Yoga class and thought I was going to pass out - and it was in air conditioning at the library.

Knuckles, have you never caught the kitchen gremlins? They hide immediately when you turn on the light, but sometimes you can see the blur a they scurry.

I've been organizing book shelves. I've ordered two more (nice ones) and found wall space for them.

My husband and I have been married 40 years. We've probably acquired 100 books a year, so that gives you an idea of the volume of books we have. Some are still in boxes from the last move (14 years ago). My goal is to sort, donate, organize and display as many books as I can. Maybe by Christmas I'll have the boxes all emptied.

Love the idea of a tissue box for the plastic bags. We use them to line small trash cans and to clean out the litter boxes, but we always seem to accumulate more bags than we use.

Another day of not getting much cleaning done. I did do two loads of towels (including the ones DH used to sop up the bathroom floor after he turned on the water in the sink and forgot about it). Other than that, it was a VERY busy work day followed by ST and a chiro visit, then dinner and cleanup while DH had an evening call. Just now catching up with SP.

Flylady made an earring tote with a piece of plastic canvas inside. (This is used for crafting tissue box covers, etc.) It costs less than a dollar for an 8x11 sheet. You might adapt this idea by cutting it with scissors into convenient sized pieces for your existing jewelry box(es). Then you just push the earring through a hole in the grid and put the back on it to hold it in place. It will keep the pairs together and easily accessible. Here is a link, but you can easily go to the locally mart store or craft store an pick up a few sheets very inexpensively.

an empty tissue box works really great as a small trash container too. We always keep on the table with all of my son's medical equipment. so when we have a small piece of trash (such as a used tissue) we can "dispose" of it right away and still keep helping him.

I have a question? how do you guys store your earrings, (pierced). I cleaned out my jewelry boxes and condensed three places I had jewelry into on spot. got rid of all unmatched earrings etc. but now I want to come up with a way to keep the pairs from getting mixed up again.

the tissue box is a good idea!! I am going to work on cleaning utility room today, I would really love to get it done, so I can paint it tomorrow! My goals that I started with in January were to paint all rooms in the house, I still lack the utility room and two bedrooms!

A tissue box does make a great dispenser for plastic store bags you plan to reuse. I keep a box of them in my classroom for students to use as needed. I bring home empty tissue boxes, fill them up and Mom uses them when she does craft shows.

Hi Julie,

I just happened to see and idea for plastic bags today. They took an empty tissue box (the pop up kind) and stuffed it with the plastic bags. It supposedly keeps them separate, so when you need one, you can just pull one out. I haven't tried it, so I don't know if it works. Personally, I have a plastic tube on the wall from IKEA in my laundry room that holds them.
As for the cans, we have a small plastic trash can in the garage. When it gets full, I just put it in my car and go cash them in!

Hope that helps!

MY husband and I finally tackled the paper monster! We organized coupons., bills, menus, club paperwork, and my husband's diabetic information.
It feels great knowing everything is organzied and we'll see if we can keep it that way.

Does anyone have any ideas how to organze pop can returns and recycle bags? I have a couple of places to keep them, just want it to be neater than sacks that fall over

I'm not there yet but closer than yesterday

Was productive again this evening. Opened the door and trim paint and painted shelf brackets, a shelf, eight rosettes, trim for two doorways and shoeplate for two walls.

I've been working on this upgrade ALL SUMMER! So glad to see completion gradually moving closer.
