I finally got my catch all couch cleared off. I live alone and sit in a recliner. The couch is a giant "hotspot" that collects whatever I want to offload quickly! My living room is on the home stretch. I'm a former hoarder who is finally dealing with the fallout of the condition.

I have calls in to three contractors to do some work in my bedroom. It is something of a reward for all the hard work over the past couple months!

Woohoo!

Zenmind - I am in South Africa - our tax year ends 28 Feb and usually have to file before mid August.

Organised space in one filing cabinet - dumped obsolete computer accessories and paperwork no longer needed for tax - more than 6years old. If I keep on going, I'll have an empty cabinet soon :)

I bought plastic shoe boxes to organize my bathroom closet. I have shelves in it but they are 18 inches apart and are not very good for finding small items. I plan to remove everything and start sorting them into groupings such as Dental, Hair, Body, Makeup, etc. Once everything goes into a box and is labeled, then I can stack them and easily find what I need.

I have a cabinet in the laundry room that has 4 drawers in it - it houses my round the house screw drivers, tape measure, level, screws etc. But it also collects all kinds of other junk. Then there's a wall cabinet that has light bulbs, glue, spray paint, tape, etc. My goal is to clean those two cabinets out before Friday night.

Woah, TAXES! You are *really* organized. Or are those quarterly taxes? I don't even get my documents for April taxes until like February!

So, what have I done -- late last night and this evening:

- 1 load laundry
- shredded a bunch of old bills
- filed away a pile of folders and receipts
- vacuumed
- took out the compost and recycling
- got rid of a cardboard box that had been sitting on the kitchen counter for eons
- sorted the freezer a little

DD2 culled her book shelves and I took half a car load of books and papers to charity shop and recycling.
I uploaded everything that I have onto the Tax website for 2010 and waiting for banks to send certificates so I can complete - I must be too early :)

Yay for yard sales and donations!

I have not done anything yet today...feeling sleepy and lazy. It might be my day off after all the cleaning yesterday.

Got to at least sort the mail and do the dinner dishes...

I got a call back on a living room suit, tables and lamp I wanted to donate. Got everything ready for those to go. Thought they'd be leaving tonight. Looks like it will be tomorrow before she can arrange for someone to pick them up for her.

I've been stacking anything that resembled office supplies or craft supplies behind my front door as I cleaned the downstairs of the house. Today I started sorting through those things and sorting them into families. It kind of frustrating to temporarily clutter up a bit to get those things ready to go. Hopefully by tomorrow this time I will be feeling much much better about the whole thing!

Vacuumed throughout house
Made up bed for DD2's room swap

Cleaned out pool filters, sorted recycling and clothes for alteration.

Hi Zen!

Thanks!

Sounds like you managed to get a LOT of little chores that have been waiting for you for awhile. Bet your house feels fantastic tonight!

Today I cleaned under and behind the two dressers in my bedroom. I washed the wall and baseboards in those areas too. Finally the bedroom has been cleaned "all around!" I get to call for estimates tomorrow!

Did a load of laundry--the special handwash sweaters and have those laying flat to dry. Finally those are out of Mt. Washmore.

I went to Mass, took pictures of Mom's flowers that she wanted and had them printed out. Delivered those to her and ate lunch at her house. I took a nap and had a nice shower. In al a great day!

Awesome progress going on -- 1/2 of a pickup truck to Goodwill!?

I had a productive day:
- vacuumed hallway & hall rugs thoroughly
- wiped down baseboards
- vacuumed horrible dustball area under the heater (behind heating grate! UGH!)
- 1 big load laundry washed, folded, and put away
- hung framed photo on wall
- bought 2 more frames for other family photos I've been meaning to hang for YEARS
- my girlfriend did MY dishes! (nice, huh?)
- dusted random stuff in bedroom
- sorted a bag for Goodwill
- vacuumed closet floor behind the hamper

Stripped two student guest-rooms and bathrooms. Laundered all the bedding and towels - on the line for storing later. Washed down one room and will do the next then vacuum and finish the bathroom sanitising.

Glad you are following in their wake! lol!

Today I loaded up about half an 8ft. pick up truck bed with things for Good Will. It feels great to have it out of the house. I'm doing the final collecting and dispersing of items that don't belong in the "junk" room so I can move my bed in there.

Yesterday I called to have the furniture removed from the "junk room." It will go to a charity for battered women. They will pick it up in a few days. Meantime I'm pulling the rest of the house together before they come.

I bought a paint sample for my bedroom. Going to prep part of a wall and try it out to see if I like it on the wall as much as I like it on the color chip.

I hve a load of wash out on the line and another clean in the machine. Time to take one down and put the other one up.

When the wash is put away it will be time to start sorting out the final items in the junk room and the bedroom. I am pleased.

LQuest how exciting! I have a similar project. The guest room was completed this morning. We are trying to pick out a comforter set as an inspiration piece to work out the rug and paint selection. We are ready to go looking at replacing the old bedroom furniture now.

When everything comes together we'll be sleeping in the guest room I just decluttered.

Great Job!

I cleaned for about an hour and 40 minutes in my "junk" room. Got much more done than I thought would be possible. Then I sorted out the "contributions" and entered them on a spreadsheet I keep in my 'puter. I'm off for the summer, so hope to have it more or less finished up by the end of the weekend.

The plan is to call a local charity to take the used furniture out of there next week. Then I'll move the contents of my bedroom in there. Then a contractor is going to do some repairs in my bedroom. When he is finished, I'll have the bedroom I've wanted for at least 25 years!

Woohoo!

oh, also, yesterday I straightened the cupboard under the bathroom sink, straightened the hallway rug, and swept and vacuumed the kitchen.

(I know it's kinda weird to vacuum the kitchen, but it helps pick up the weird little crumbs. I would've mopped but didn't have time yesterday. Gotta do that SOON.)

Sounds like a productive day, CCedille and Goldie!

I finally got most of a double dresser emptied out. I will be donating it to a battered women's shelter soon. It had all my lingerie from before my 230 pound weight loss in it! Time for those to go! It also had the usual assortment of "junk" and some things that belonged to late husband. Glad it is gone! Also dismantled and dumped an office chair. While I was working in bedroom I went through the closet and got rid of everything I don't wear. Sorted through the empty hangers and got them in baskets ready to reuse. In general a VERY productive day!

I just want to string together another week or two of them!

This morning before the electrician came I sorted through two boxes in my closet. They have been in there for 19 years since I moved in here with my first husband! On opening them I discovered about one or two items worth keeping. The rest went into the donation basket or trash! Sorted through over half of the garments on the rod in order to get create space for electrician to reach the access panel in the top of the closet. While I was taking things down I put everything that didn't fit into the donation basket. There were some other things that I am keeping only on a trial basis, so sorted them separately. Tomorrow I will finish up the closet! Woohoo!

The best part is that the electrician that came today (the second one who looked at this) was able to isolate the problem. Then he devised a way to correct it that was "out of the box" to compensate for an old house with limited access! The final price was very reasonable! Many thanks and blessing to him and his family!

Woohoo!

Congrats on the yardsale and the new nightstand!
I attempted to rewire a lamp. When I plugged it in it did something to my home electrical system. The electrician is coming tomorrow morning.

I have nearly all of my bedroom cleaned now. Think I will stop and work in the living room since the electrician is coming.

I just received a night stand, so I cleaned the area, swept and moped then put in new night stand. I have kept it clean and organized for a few weeks now, it helps that it is .

My yard sale had a fairly decent turnout this weekend. We sold $220 worth of stuff. Everything thing else is packaged up and ready for pick up by the Salvation Army next week. We used the $220 and bought a brand new grill. Our old one sold for $30.

Great Job, Robbie!

It seens ti me that we need a day now and then to catch up on things that get out of place due to our larger cleaning jobs. That teems ok to me too. There is no sense trashing what we already did to claim that we are making progress.

Today I just did a little bit of pick up myself. Had an alergic reaction to something that I came into contact with while gardening Sunday. Woke up swollen and burning after a nap Monday afternoon.

I did two loads of laundry, put anything that was out of place in areas I've already cleaned back where it belonged and went through some magazines so they could be purged. I wiped up the kitchen and vacuumed and now the house feels good to me again.

So maybe I learned something. Even if I can't make a lot of forward progress, I can sure avoid falling backward!

Have a great day!
