Hi Mary! I'm back after a long time in Waiting For Internet Land!

Some kitchens use big mitts to get hot things but they can be really unsanitary as they don't often get washed with any regularity like towels do. Kitchen towels are always available and multi use...and...always get washed. Perhaps that is why we use them . Patrick and I don't even have oven mitts at home...we use our kitchen towels for hot things. The kids have mitts though as they find them fun to use and I think that for them they are probably safer as they cover their whole hands and part of their wrists.

It drives my Mom crazy she she visits that we don't have pot holders! :-D

Watching cooking challenges, I notice the chefs handle hot vessels with folded kitchen towels. Wouldn't pot holders be better?
