Jennifer- Thank you again, getting up and moving again to keep my mind off of food; I'm REALLY loving your tip and my house is looking better too. =)
I'm sorry to hear about your fight, glad to hear that you're able to move up and on from it toward the next thing going on.

I am yo-yoing with 1 lb. So I have added more cardio to my workout. If I'm not sweating I'm not working out hard enough. I know I'm no help, but I'm with ya on the Plateau thing!!!

Did 43 Minutes on the Wii = 275 Calories Ran 1.2 miles in 10 minutes and am sweating like crazy. Time for a shower!!

Maggie I have no suggestions because I am in need of input too. I have not lost or gained since Dec. 2010 I adjusted my calories, picked up the pace by doing walk/jog challenge and still nothing. Been out of the exercise loop for two weeks because of back spasms. Got okay from doctor to start walking again, slowly. My calories have been adjusted for my current activity. I am at a loss why my body is not responding to anything. The meds I take have some effect however not enough to cause the stand still per my doctor. Doctor advised to keep eating smaller portions and walking. I have to be doing something wrong to go this long without even losing a pound. I track my meals and stay withing range allowed......ugh I am so frustrated!

Jennifer - glad to hear you're not taking someone else's insecurities personally. Sounds like you have a good head on you.

Maggie- try changing your routine a bit. Add 10 extra min to your walk and try some different strength excercises. That might just do the trick.

I haven't worked out at all in the past two days. I've had some really good momentem these past few weeks, but my fiance and I had the idea that we would both get up early and walk together. That's not working for us. We've been getting up early and working out on our own, but for some reason when we try to do it together we decide we'll do it another day!

I need some suggestions... I've hit a plateau since April, haven't lost haven't gained..
I walk 3 miles 5 days a week, strength train at Curves 3 X week. According to tracker I burn 2400 calories and I try and stay between 1200 and 1600 calories. I'm menopausal... enough said. What else do I need to do? I tried walking 2 x day and I was exhausted. Anybody have suggestions?

Frannymae - YOU did it - YOU took the action - Congratulations!!

Thanks for letting me know it helped. You don't know how much that means to me this morning to know that I was in any way helpful to someone. I had a rather demoralizing fight with a family member last night, who's greatest desire was to tell me how worthless I was & what I horrible person I am, & how everything in their life was MY fault. (they took no responsibility for their own actions - again).
So I was struggling to get "out from under it" this morning & let it go & go on, but it was very difficult.

So I'm so glad I could help in any way at all - it is encouraging to me to stay on my feet & keep moving

Jennifer

CMHEIN - I *love* those sassy days! I'll bet you feel like you can accomplish ANYTHING!

FRANNYMAE - I hope today is a better day for you. Great idea, SPARKLES!

Last night, I stopped at Hobby Lobby on my way home to pick up some things for tonight's birthday party for SweetPea.

Once home, I made dinner, washed and folded clothes, put them away, did the dishes, made a shopping list for today (birthday sundae fixins) and put goody bags together. I sat down for a half hour at 9:00pm, got up, took a shower and went to bed. Tonight after leaving work an hour early, I'll hit the grocery store then head home to decorate and do a bit more cleaning before the kids arrive. After they all leave, I'm pouring myself a Mai Tai. :)

I feel a bit beaten with the birthday party tonight, Great America band event tomorrow, then the busy after work schedule we have next week. There is something going on every night after work next week - it's all good stuff, but the busy busy busy go go go pace makes me want to crawl under the covers. Work will be busy, too. Keeping up with it all, plus housework and other errands... well, you know how it is.

This will pass, I know. I'll just 'ride the wave' until it does.

Looking at the big picture exhausts me. Today will be a good one if I take it in little pieces.

Have a great day!

Take care,

Kelli

SPARKLES, thank you for the WONDERFUL suggestion yesterday! once I got up and moving my mood just started to melt away, a little upbeat music and I was on my way!

I'll have to put that at the top of my list the next time I start to feel overwhelmed. Thanks again!

Thanks Ladies,

He is not my Husband, he is my X-husband - We have been divorced for 14 years, but we share a house and raise our kids together. He knows that some day in the future I will move out and there is nothing he can do about it, so..... (I think he might still be in love with me, but the feeling is not mutual) Its just financially convienient and we dont have to fight over the kids.

Anyway, I did 50 minutes on my Wii Fit & burned 281 calories today, I am tracking my food which I am usually bad at and trying to make good choices. I am making a Cranapple Crunch for dessert tonight with Splenda - YUM

Have a Great Day

Rayne

FrannyMae - I was like that a couple of days this week. The most recent thing that helped me was last night, & thus the suggestion: Get busy doing something that helps take your mind off of it. Last night I washed a big load of dishes with hubby, & then packaged up a bunch of ground beef for freezing. By the time we were done, I didn't need that extra bedtime snack I was craving earlier.

Maybe try drinking water & going for a walk outdoors. I hear that SO much around here, it's almost cliche - REALLY. But it CAN help. Anything that you can stay busy at & not eat while you're doing it, helps you get through cravings until they pass. And they WILL pass if it isn't true hunger.

Having a REALLY tough day ... all I want to do is eat, its all I can think about; consuming my every thought and fiber of my being. Luckily I don't have too much in the way on junk food .... but there's enough Easter candy left to do some damage. I guess I'm just overwhelmed today and need some positive reinforcement.

Hang in there Jennifer! It's tough to fight off those cravings, but you'll get it with some practice.

Raylogen - I completely understand what you're going through. My late husband used to acuse me of wanting to find a better man and that's why I worked out. He'd do the same time everytime I went to my class! It was awful.

There was a great article on spark that I read a few weeks ago with good pointers for spouses who sabotage. You should check it out if you haven't read it yet.

My husband used to worry that I would leave if I got fit. Thing is I've been living a healthier and more active lifestyle for over 4 years now. He enjoys being able to do things with me like hiking, kayaking, playing active games on the Xbox together etc. He is relaxing more now because I am showing him more attention and affection, so now he's become more supportive of my efforts.

Sorry your hubby doesn't do that.

Oh it was no mistake, It was sabatoge, I have been telling him not to buy me food for 20 years....... Buy me a plant, kitchen gadget, candles, stuff for camping - NO Food, but he still does it anyway. It happens at Christmas, B-days, and just any day of the week. He brings home cookies and coffee cakes and just crap food, he goes shopping and buys junk food, no veges or fruit or even meat. I think he likes me fat so I wont date other people.

Well, he has another think coming. I am headed out for a 5 day b-day get away by myself in a few weeks and what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.

With holidays (like Christmas), I will tell the kids ahead of time, "nothing edible please. I love candles," and give them a hug and a wink. But I have to say it every year. All the holidays market edible treats, so it makes sense that sugar is given as gifts. We're actually asking our families to go against the grain.

Hi - just introduced myself on the other thread. Am fighting the urge to eat more this evening. I've been overeating for several weeks & stretched my stomach all out seems like. Was feeling kind of pukey earlier from it - felt way empty. Had been getting some acid this week, so am back on Prilosec. Not sure which was the cause of the odd things my stomach was doing today, but a few crackers fixed it for awhile. Trouble is a few crackers turned into a whole 150 calorie serving. Then at dinner I was ravenous again. But scarfed a can of green beans instead of chips & guacamole etc. Oh I need to shut up - I had forgotten I had that - haha!
I think some hot tea & my bed need to be in my near future. If I get too hungry to sleep I might have to have a piece of toast or something. I'm already over on calories, so I'll try to do without.

I'm not sure it's an intentional attempt to sabotage you. Look at what you would have liked/have gotten in the past. It takes some time for the patterns of thinking to change. It's taken my very supportive husband 4 years to realize that the candy/baked desserts that I used to love are no longer what I want for holidays/celebrations. He had 16 years of conditioning before that to get them for me. So it may take some time before they truly understand what it is you like/want/need now.

Raynelogan - I understand the unsupportive family and if this was an attempt on their part to sabbotage you, then I don't think you overreacted. If it was harmless and they didn't realize it, maybe a more gentle reminder next time that these are foods you're trying to avoid.

My grandmother knows I'm trying to lose weight and she always makes us candy bags for the holidays. She called me before Easter to ask what I want instead. Having a supportive family really helps, but hang in there. You can always lean on us here for the support you need!

We need to re train our families as to what will be appropriate "gifts". They give us what we once thought was great. Chocolate, B&R's Ice cream, etc.....I now encourage them to get me flowers and plants...cards...time together...funny cards....movie passes....If you don't tell them....especially the guys.....they will continue with the old behavior. When I do get gifts
I just thank them for thinking of me and re-gift. : )

DS, with whom I've had many conversations about being diabetic & needing to eat healthy, got me a charming cheesecake for Mothers Day. emoticon

It's the thought that counts, and I was thrilled that he thought to do it. And cook a nice dinner for me. (This is the first post-divorce Mum's Day, so this year he doesn't have XW to do it for him. He did a great job!)

I ate one little piece & left the rest at his house. Let him eat it & get fatter -- LOL!

Its Wednesday again.....

Hey ShassySue, you think you had a bad Mothers day - I got a balloon bouquet (that was nice), and I got a big bag of Munchos Chips, A Twinkie and a Chocolate Cupcake. My family is soooo supportive of my weight loss efforts.... NOT. I was pretty upset so I picked them up and put them right in my X's lap and told him he should eat them cause I was not going to and thanked him for all his lack of support then stormed off to go shopping (that always makes me feel better).
Does that make me a bad Mom?????

Hang in there, Sammy! I'm tired and somewhat grumpy, too, but I'm determined not to fall asleep at my desk and to "pretend nice" if I have to. :)

Well, I kept moving as much as I could yesterday -- that doesn't mean that I got any real exercise in, though. I let housework, another headache, and the sudden 90 degree temps yesterday deter me from doing at least that walk around the park last night.

Tonight is a band concert for our oldest, and I don't foresee me getting any exercise in for the next few days. Tomorrow night I have to get the house ready for our middle girl's birthday party with her friends (Friday night). Saturday, I will be walking around Great America with our oldest, again for a band event. (at least I'll be walking!)

I am suspending my bootcamp involvement until Sunday, unless I happen to find myself with some extra time/energy before then. The next few days will be busy busy busy -- I already have my list, and feel tired just looking at it. I've tucked it away so it is not a distraction at work (I hate thinking about all the stuff I need to do at home when I'm at work), and am ready to start my day.

This morning I rotated laundry, checked the air in my tires (my van 'told' me I had to), and watered the flowers before coming on in to work. I could use a nap now. :)

How are you doing today? What's new in your world?

Take care,

Kelli

I'm tired and grumpy today, but determined not to stress eat and to get some kind of exercise in before bed.

Hi! I've been a member of Sparkpeople for 5 years and I'm definitely in the rigth place because I think I've lost a total of 15 lbs since then!

I'm currently trying to lose weight (again) because my cholesterol is way high and I need to get it down. I'm too young to be medicated!

I used to have a great group that I was a member of, but I haven't been in it in so long, I don't know anyone there anymore!

Hoping this group will be what I've been missing!

Hi everyone my name is deanna and I have been with SP for over 4 yrs now and had lost 53 lbs here then got preggo with my last baby after 7 1/2 yrs of trying!!! I have MS and arthritis, carpel tunnel and chronic pain, along with depression and a host of other problems. I have been struggling to lose 20 lbs since the birth of my son almost 3 yrs ago. I have NO support here so losing has been next to impossble. I lost my dad to lung cancer 2 months ago and my youngest daughter is in foster care in state custody due to being out of control and violent. SO with all the stress and no support I have not found my "SPOT" in which I can manage all of this and stay on track without resorting to food for comfort! SOOOOO HELP!!!! LOL

Hello, Alice! You are in the right place. Welcome! You CAN reach your goals!

Sue - This was the first year that the kids really "got" it. I honestly don't expect much for Mother's Day. This year, I marked the day off on the calendar (in advance - MOM'S DAY OFF), and set about doing what *I* wanted to do. I'm glad you were able to do that on Monday.

Way to go Riche and Scazares!

Sunday was a perfect day to garden, and I'm really glad I had the time and energy to do it, and today I am SO sore. My motto for the day is "Must. Keep. Moving."

Last night, I let an oncoming headache and these sore muscles excuse me from my walk. Tonight, weather permitting, I *will* walk. I'm not sure about boot camp, though. While I understand I need to rest my muscles, I also know that complete inaction will not help either. My motto for the day is Must. Keep. Moving. Even if it's more of a shuffle than a sprint right now. I'm still moving. That's good.

Busy day here at the office today, and it will be a busy night at home tonight.

Have a great day everyone!

Take care,

Kelli

Good morning ! I laughed at my three elder sisters when they told me - upon my 30th birthday - that my body would slowly change. Not much happened and I laughed even more when they repeated that "threat" when I turned 40. Approaching 53 and looking back, they were right. I slowly gained weight. Not much, but heck it is clinging to my hips for dear life! I want to get rid of these 6 kilos, approx. 14 pounds. My goal is to get on the scale on December 31st 2011 and see that number 62 (in kilos). That gives me seven months to achieve that goal, slowly but surely. I know that portion distortion is my issue. I am working on that, not always successfully, but I am working on it.
This morning - instead of taking the bus - I walked the 14 minutes that it takes to get to the office and enjoyed the sun shining on me and I listened to the birds singing.
Right, and now I want to drink a glass of water, I already had a large glass of orange juice and three large cups of herbal tea.

Have a good day!

Hi everyone,
Garama that was too cute. I think I'm using the same kind of shampoo lol. Had a good day today. Did a lot of walking at work today so I'm hoping that payed off. Have a great week.

It really was a good weekend, loving family, lots of fresh vegies and strawberries.
I relaxed, too, so I'll be feeling it today. Oh, well, hurts so good.

Back to working out this week. Going to really work out hard. I am 1 lb away from my second 10lb goal.. I will be down by 20lbs.. My family noticed that I had lost weight.. they all told me how great I look.. I feel great too!

I'm so stoked to finally be truly down another pound. These last few pounds sliding past my goal are certainly the hardest.

I wish it was as simple as changing shampoo's! LOL

I also gardened alot this weekend and yesterday I thought my body was in a vise grip, today not so bad, shoulders do hurt and back is sore, but the flowers look good and got some veggies in the ground too. Peppers of all colors, zucchini, cucumbers, tomatoes!

The guys cooked Sunday lunch, so I chilled with 2 oz red wine 4 oz diet sprite and a magazine, then took a nap and then played with the grand - girls!

Hubby got me a mp3 player for mother's day and downloaded Biggest loser top 40's hits for a high powered walk-run, son got me a kettlewox dvd and weight! I needed a change in my work out so I'm all set!

I was shocked how well I did this weekend eating under control. Today is Monday and back to work.......I hope everyone has a good day...can't wait to go home and get my walk on and do some kettleworx....let you know tomorrow how it goes.

GAARAMA - That is SO funny! I'll have to check my shampoo when I get back home! I bet I'm using the same stuff! :D

How are you doing today? How was your weekend?

Friday night, I sat down after dinner. That was my biggest mistake. I did not accomplish any measureable exercise on Friday or Saturday.

On Sunday, however, I gardened for 4.5 hours -- and BOY am I feeling it today! Woo! It's good, though, you know? (I got a little over-excited by all the pretty flowers at the gardening center in town Sunday and I had a gift card! :) I bought three flats of flowers (violas and impatience), plus some creeping phlox and two pansy 'bowls'. After lunch, and a walk around the park, I started weeding, transplanting, and digging and twisting and bending. At one point, I was in a tug of war with a deep root - I won, but ended up falling on my behind when the root pulled free. Hee!

Ok, so today is Monday, and it's back to work. The sun is shining and, in spite of some sore muscles, I'm in a good place.

Have a great day, all!

Take care,

Kelli
