I deserve a treat today because since joining Sparkpeople on March 22, 2010 I've changed. I've change my eating and exercise habits, dropped almost 30kg and 4 pant sizes changed my apperarance so much that people I see around work don't recognize me until I speak to them and have been taken off all but 1 medication which is being re evaluated in 2 months. That's right no diabetic medication, no cholesterol medication and only one anti hypertensive at present. I'm not on a diet and I don't have to cheat I just make better choices for me everyday and live healthier. It's sparkpeople not a secret.

i am not one to pat myself on the back or take compliments very well. i am the one always doing something for someone else and putting myself last. it is very hard for me to say that i deserve a treat since i don't always believe that i deserve it. if i were to win this prize, i would treat myself to a day for just me. i would then use the rest for my girl scout troop, which i voluteer as a leader.

I have been making good lifestyle improvements that are making a big difference. I've started to lose weight. I am more consistent and motivated to continue these changes and track my short term goals working towards the long term goal. I am eating when I feel hungry and stopping when I feel full. I am eating 6 or more vegetables and fruits each day. I am exercising and feeling better.

I am not any more deserving than the next person, and perhaps even less than many. What I am is diligent. I bounce back fast. I have good days; I have bad. I am mindful more often than not, and I love learning.

My treat is going to my plots (one vegetable, one flower) at the community garden. It's so much more than fresh produce or a beautiful bud. It's my sanctuary, my haven. I give thanks everyday I am there. That's what I call rewarding.

I deserve a treat because I have been taking great care of my body. I am cut out all high fructose corn syrup, been eating more cleaning, and *almost* have Diet Coke out of my life! I have started working out again which took a back burner to school. I work full time and go to school part time so it is hard to fit in a good work out but I am on the right path. I want to look so good when my husband comes home from his 8 month deployment in October! I will need some new clothes!!!

I did my AM walking, walked the cemetery at lunch, then mowed my lawn and part of two neighbor's lawns.

I also got a post card - stating I inspired a new acquaintance to loose 20 pounds.

Have lost 6# since starting Spark People. Did a 40 minute workout today with cardio. Made target heart rate, which is amazing to me. First time I was able to do that since starting a med that slows my heart rate. Have had other health issues that kept me from enjoying life in recent years, but went on a 2 hour canoe ride last week. Felt great.

When I get to 10# weight loss, I'm going to get a YMCA T-shirt. My favorite place to workout.

Have been conquering Celiac/lactose/soy free/weight loss meal recipes. Now combining with Kidney disease diet. Think I have it more or less down pat. Been a confusing last few months getting it all together. Had to cut some things from my budget in order to afford all the new and 5-6 small meals per day. But - just treated myself to an early birthday present for myself - a real growing potted orchid. have always wanted an orchid and finally figured I deserve one. And once every 2-3 months when I've saved a little bit at a time I will go to Red Lobster and have Shrimp.

Im finally getting my goals accomplished. I recently had two children as soon as i got out of high school and I was so over whelmed by the sudden changes of motherhood that I postponed everything from college or even the activities i enjoyed because of the weight I gained. Before I had children i was never over weight and I stayed active, but since the birth of my youngest I've been working hard on trying to reach my goals reguardless of what others may think of my size.I recently enrolled back in college to get my degree in criminal justice and made major changes to my diet not only to be healthier for me but my family I realized that my health choices not only affect me but my family as well.

... I have finally moved from the "thinking about being more healthy" to the "DOING something to be more healthy stage" and I am excited!
Spark is making it so easy and I can track right from my iPhone. (Which is where I originally found out about the Spark- looking for a calorie counting app.)
I love the points and the recipes and the water counter and all the support and the articles- and all for free! It's incredible.
I just recently lost my job and decided to return to school, so I figured now was as good a time as any to REALLY make a change. There's something about having something or someone you have to be accountable to that motivates me more than ever before.
I just need to keep signing in and signing up and see what happens. I realize now that a diet or an exercise plan is not what I needed, so much as a lifestyle change emoticon
So, I just bought "The Spark" book to reward myself. Ha! One more step in the right direction!

I work as an AmeriCorps at the American Red Cross in NYC. Since February I've opened 4 Shelters, helped with 3 Reception Centers and made countless phone calls trying to get other volunteers here. I've recruited the next group of Response Based AmeriCorps and I make less then a kid working part time at a supermarket.

I'm doing this because I wanted to help people. I am doing this because I didn't want to go directly into the daily grind of a job I hate. I am doing this becuase I love my job.

I deserve a treat becuase my pedicure is 7 months over due, and I haven't found the time to treat myself to anything. I respond to major New York and National Disasters and I'm watching hurricans knowing that we're so close to having one touch down on land and distroy homes.

All Disasters begin as Local Disasters. And its the Red Cross who helps people with basic needs following these disasters. I'm one of the lucky ones who gets to help.

I deserve a treat because I have turned my life around. I get a treat for every 10 lbs lost.
I just bought a lot of new face creams and lotions.
Trying to ward off all the new wrinkles that skinny skin has. No more fat to plump up the skin. Smile.
That's OK, there's always the nip and tuck.
I feel reborn with the so far weight lost of 85 lbs.
Now on to the next 85 plus. emoticon emoticon

I deserve a treat because I've been on a diet for 10 years. Once I discovered SparkPeople I changed my tune. I'm no longer on a diet. I've changed my lifestyle. This is amazing!
My ultimate treat will be to wear a bikini. Last night I decided on another treat, I want to learn how to surf!
In the mean time, the little treats I get are manicures, pedicures and massage!

I'm back on track. Lost my husband unexpectedly of a heart attack 5 days before our restaurant was scheduled to open and in the year since, I've neglectted my healthy exercise and eating habits.

But I moved myself and my two young boys to a new city and home a week ago, joined a gym, started a good cardio and strength training program and am eating yummy, healthy food. I totally deserve a treat because I'm doing great in my new life!

I deserve a treat because...I have lost over 68 pounds since Oct 2009.
It has been a journey for me,See when I first came to spark people I was over 275 and never workout in my life at all.I was always out of breath every time I tried to do something. My doctor told me I was headed for 10 mayor health problems and I was killing myself with all the bad foods I was eating. He said you need to change everything if you want to be here for those kids. I had to take a look at what I was doing to my kids.See I have 7 kids from ages 18,9,7,6,5,3,1. I told my husband I was going to start changing all my bad habits and start exercising.Well he didn't believe me cause I would tell him this all the time.I had to prove to him this time.
I started by cutting out all fried foods and fast foods and sweets and anything that has sugar in it. I also
went out and brought the biggest loser boot camp DVD use that three times a week at first.Let me tell you it was hard but I kept it up for over an month. Cause I knew I was worth it and I wanted to live. After that two months was up I was losing weight. It was a new beginning.
So I told my self okay now it time to quit smoking and drinking. I did it cold turkey.Today it will be 8 months of being smoke/drinking free.
My husband couldn't believe I was doing it this time. I went from 3 times a week to 6 days a week of exercising. I completely change all my eating habits and everything.
Now I eat egg whites, turkey bacon, whole wheat toast in the mornings,or a bowl of multi grain cereal with fat free milk. For lunch I eat a chef salad with fat free dressing, diet coke. For dinner 4oz of grilled lean meats, mix veggies, brown rice with 16 oz of water. For dessert I eat sugar free pudding or jello. I been doing this for awhile now.It feels good knowing I am eating healthy. My family had to play the price cause they had to put up with my mood swings, depression,I was a mess cause my self image was gone.I put them through a lot and they kept my me no matter what. They would tell me that they all loved me.But see I didn't love myself at that time.
So if any one deserve a treat it's my family.Cause I put my husband through hell and back. I took the TV away from my kids so I could workout. My family stood by me
and gave me encouragement and love.My husband is disable do to a job related and he on SSI/SSA and three of my kids have ADHD and on meds.the other four are just sweet
kids.We live in a four bedroom mobile home that falling apart. We do what we can with the limited income we have.I am also on Disability from when I was a child. So I also get SSI.But I do odd jobs like watching other people children from time to time and take care of the elderly. Like clean their mobile home do their laundry stuff like that just to make extra money to make ends met.But we always make sure our kids have food and a roof over their head and clean clothes. We love our kids and I want to make sure I am around to see them grow up. So if I won the money I would take only $100 and buy some new clothes cause most of my clothes are way to big since I lost 68 pounds. I give the rest to my husband and kids for putting up with me while I am trying to get healthy.I still have more weight to lose cause my goal weight is 140. I am making progress...I wish everyone the best. Good luck All!!!! Sandy

I deserve a treat today . . . because in spite of being in the middle of a divorce and going through the grievance process of that, I made a decision yesterday to get back into the gym. I have not been to the gym for 2 mos. due to my kids summer camp schedule. Their last day was Fri. and I made a conscience decision to be in the gym on Monday. Today, I even went without my gym partner! Now that definitely deserves a treat!

My original plan was to lose 10 pounds by September 4th (that goal was set back in March). It's mid-August and I've lost 20 already! Outside of just the raw numbers, I can tell I'm much fitter than I was. This summer, I backpacked in Yosemite covering over 20 miles in 3 days; I don't get winded climbing 4 flights of stairs; I sleep better; I have more energy when I get home from work (so much that I'm even working out twice a day - once in the morning and once after I get home). SparkPeople has definitely helped me track my calorie intake and my exercising much better (goodbye Excel spreadsheets). Not to mention, it's great seeing everyone else getting healthy too!

I treat myself with little things like a new box of tea, fresh flowers, some fun little kitchen utensil (the last one was a new oven thermometer), etc. Bigger rewards are things like mini golf with my boyfriend or cool stuff for the house like a slow cooker or a dehydrator.

Of course, ultimately, the biggest reward is better health, more energy, and being in good enough shape to do things like backpack in the Sierra backcountry and enjoy it!

I really deserve a treat today because I have gone to the pool everyday for 2 months and did at least 1 hour of water walking. Only aerobic type of exercise I am able to do.

So I am giving my self the treat of a pedicure today.

Since July of 2009, I've lost 60 pounds thanks to SparkPeople! I've been given some clothes from friends, but would love to buy some for myself!

I deserve a treat because I am doing all I can do be the BEST me that I can be each and every day. Even during the worst of times I am fighting to continue workouts, eating healthy and just staying positive for myself and others. After losing the weight before my wedding last year....I am HOLDING on to the success. I keep a CLOSE eye on my weight and when a pound or two creeps up on me....I ZAP it away and remind myself that skinny feels better than ANYTHING tastes. In the long run I want to be healthy so I can enjoy life to the fullest.

I am in the midst of my longest-ever Spark Streak and I'm keeping it up - so far, 29 pounds down! I got myself a set of fancy art makers as a reward. :D

I deserve a treat because I have been working out at the gym every day and watching what I eat. And I bought a pair of pants several months ago but could not get then done up (the gap was about 4 inches). I am wearing them today!!

I deserve a treat because I'm sitting in a store full of free candy and I'm eating yogurt. :)

I deserve a treat because despite set backs and my own self sabotaging ways I have managed to lose 40lbs since having my daughter. I like rewarding myself with new clothes when the old ones don't fit and pretty colored nail polish and new workout dvds when I'm working out hard.

Yes I do deserve a treat because....Well because I am worth it! That is the treat for me! I have discovered over this journey that I am worth fighting for and believing in. I am worth all the hard work and sacrifices. But who really deserves a treat is my family! For years they have endured my less then desirable mood swings and bouts of depression all stemming from my poor self-image. Through all of it, they stood by me with words of encouragement and love. My hubby, after loosing yet another job has been working so hard to start a lawn care business while going to school full time. After his long day on his feet, it is mine that get rubbed. Then there are my 3 boys who so graciously endure me taking over the TV for exercise videos and cooking shows. Young men who have stepped up to cut lawns with dad in order to help support the family. Kids that are always limited and held back by the lack of finances within our family! Do I deserve a treat....you betcha and for me it would be to pay-it-forward to the ones that have loved and cherished me through my journey of health and love for myself! To delight the hearts of the ones that I am fighting to stay around for, would be a true blessing for me! I pray that everyone of you would be treated for all you have struggled through! The pain before the gain, and the fight for flight to a healthier you, and battle to sustain! We are all in this, and thanks to SparkPeople we are in it together! Thank you for the opportunity to share...Good Luck Everyone!
