I am new to this page and am so happy that I found it
I have pcos (UUGH! ) am wanting to lose at least 60 pounds before getting pregnant...But my long term goal is to lose 100 pounds by 3/25/13....I recently had surgery to improve fertility and am not exercising like I would like due to recovery. I am 26 years old, happily married to my luv, and we have been ttcing our first child since we were married in September 2007. I was not diagnosed with pcos until October 2009, don't know why these doctors can't make a proper diagnosis these days...it took me three OBGYN's before I got the pcos diagnosis, and when i did, my OB new it right off the bat after listening to my symptoms and going over my cycle history.
At that same time i also had high blood pressure and really high insulin levels...I am insulin resistant and taking 2000mg of metformin daily to keep my numbers down. before the pcos was diagnosed I had taken 50 mg of comid twice with no pregnancy resulting...I was put on metformin then in 2008 since I was told I was insulin resistant, but never told I had pcos...they go hand in hand u dumb docs....seriously!!!! I knew i had pcos long before the diagnosis was reached...even my husband said that is what I had....just by reading the symptoms and knowing what i was having as a symptom....my uncle even approached me about pcos andasked me if I had it? I said I wasn't told I did, so i didn't think so....needless to say, we were all correct :)
I have struggled with weight issues for many years, since puberty in fact, and have tried so many diets and things it's not even funny :( my heaviest weight was 270 pounds....when i was diagnosed with pcos i weighed 260 and was suggested to me that i drop 30 pounds and then try to conceive....
Last april I was told I was gluten intolerant and went gluten free for six months...my starting weight then was 230 and by the middle of May that year I was down to 217 just like that !!!! My weight started going up soon after that since the GF foods are full of carbs and sugars :( I found out in november that I wasn't Gluten intolerant and went back to my regular eating...
I am currently weighing in at 224....i started my weight loss journey on here march 18th 2012 and was losing 2# a week ever week...i am at a standstill right now though :( I just have to work harder :) I look forward to getting to know u all, and hearing your ttc stories and your weight loss goals :)

Good luck with restarting your ttc journey. I hope that if you take clomid, you have a much better experience than you did with femara.

I know this is an older thread but I am slow to getting in and reading everything. Did either of you have luck with the clomid and get a bfp? I am on bc at the moment, this is my last month of it they were trying to reg af so in a few weeks we will be ttc again (9 years of ttc at this point sucks) my ob said that if I don't get a bpf in 2 months they will send me to a specialist and I can request clomid. We had an unsuccessful cycle back in 09 with femara and it was a nightmare with that drug. I am hoping that if we have to used clomid that it's better.

IM NOW TAKING 1000MG OF METFORMIN DAILY AND WILL BE TAKING 100MG OF CLOMID. MY DOCTOR SAYS THIS SHOULD WORK THATS WHY WE ARE ONLY DOING ONE CYCLE. BUT SHE SAYS IF IT DOESNT WE WILL UP THE DOSE OF CLOMID TO 150MG. WHICH HAS A HIGHER RISK OF MULTIPLES. SO I HOPE IT WORKS ON THIS DOSE.
