Good for you, Chippee! Sometimes we play ping-pong with the same handful of pounds, and it is an accomplishment to keep them from getting out of hand. Today our class of SP is starting on our 9th year - I often feel that I'm just marking time, or walking in place, but the one good habit that has stayed with me for the past 8 years is awareness. I don't always 'do' what I know I should do, but I usually always know what I'm doing and am aware of the consequences that are likely to follow my decisions. HAPPY SPARK-a-versary to us.

Oh, and I have reached my original goal, only to realize now that I severely underestimated what I could accomplish with SparkPeople friends cheering me on. Today I am bravely looking to the future and have some new goals in mind - a pound here, a pound there - an extra few Fitbit steps here, one less cookie there - knowing that if I get through winter, better walking weather is ahead 😜

Do it, NOW!

So....gained about three pounds this fall, but have lost almost all of it this week when I decided to get serious again. Journaling my food again along with exercise. Synched my Fitbit with Spark, and am being more mindful of what I eat.

I have high and low calorie days to keep my metabolism tricked into not resetting itself lower and that really works for me. Tonight we're having a get together and I'll enjoy myself, knowing that it's my high day.

Thanks, for the encouragement. You're doing well with your steps, too!

Actually, I didn't gain any weight which surprised me since I didn't eat as many veggies as I normally do. But I guess oysters are fairly low in calories!

Still, I have to get back to my routine. I keep working for those 10,000 steps a day.

Just or back from a week at the shore. Gonna bite the bullet tomorrow morning and get on the scale. I wasn't able to as much this past week and I also ate a lot of things that I normally don't. So I've promised myself not to be discouraged. I have to just get back on the saddle and do well again.

Better for weight loss than all the Fitbit steps or most stringent diet - being really sick for a week! I'm not recommending this bizarre method of losing weight - just sayin'. ;-)

I am on-again/off-again with my food logging. Do better with exercise but will be sad to lose my SPAT. I have a fitbit coming so will see how that goes.

It's exciting to know that I'm starting my eighth year with spark. Though not at my goal, I'm about 15 pounds closer to it and my real goal is to be healthier. So I'm excited about continuing to make good choices and to continue moving and exercising more.

Hi there. I'm still plugging away but no real change. Every step forward seems to be accompanied by 1.5 steps back. However, I've been encouraged by reading your posts and seeing some still here. I'm re-energizing my efforts and coming back in to the website every day. Picking up some more exercise too. I will aim to make 2017 the year I make real, long-lasting progress.

Lily, sounds good. Something I did was make a list of vegan and vegetarian meals cause sometimes you just can't think is what to have.

Summer is great for salads and we love Salade Nicoise. You can just leave off the tuna, hard boiled egg, and anchovies. But the boiled potatoes, green beans add so much and taste great with olive oil and a splash of vinegar. Throw on some chick peas to increase the protein.

We like pasta e fagiole or with lentils or chick peas ( pasta ceci and pasta e lenticchie.). All kinds of veggie soups. And you can do great stir fried dishes and curries.

For breakfast sometimes I'll have a whole grain toast with peanut butter or leftovers. Cereal with rice or almond milk.

Hope that helps. Let me know how it goes! emoticon

It's hard to get my 10,000 steps in when the weather is so hot - so I'm waiting for the sun to go down in about an hour when it will be ideal walking/weather.

My daughters are hatching a plan to go 'vegan' for the next 30 days and I'm thinking of joining them. Amy good ideas on began eating? Anyone??

Just finished planting my garden - because our growing season is so short, I'm a little limited as to what will grow to maturity, but part of the fun o a garden is taking care of it and watching things grow.- even though it is a slow process - just like losing weight and taking care of ourselves is a slow process-but very rewarding 😎

Been eating a little differently. Very little meat, more veggies and snacking more on fruit than anything else. Trying to eat more organic, too.

I've been feeling pretty well, too. Most days less heartburn, but that remains a problem.

I'm really hoping that this healthier eating will show on the scale, too. We shall see...

So good to hear from both of you! We should do a June support group! My focus for June is to do regular exercise again. Some plantar fasciitis derailed me.....

Hey, Bestme, so nice to hear from you. We've had a bit of a heatwave here in Dutchess County NY, but temps have moderated and it's been in the 80's the past few days. Next week back to .highs in he 70's. Makes it a lot easier to move when it's cool.

Lily, happy you had such a nice day. And everyone should break their routine once in a while, don't you think? It's only when see exceptions and treats become the norm that we run into trouble. At least, that's true for me.

So it's June, can you believe it! Let's make this a good positive month, taking care of ourselves by eating well and getting in our exercise. Let me know how you're all doing.

100 degrees? I can't even fathom that. Our high today is near 67 with a mild breeze - perfect weather for visiting grave sites on this Memorial Day. My husband is buried about 2 miles from here, and it was very impressive for me to see how many of our friends left flowers, flags, colorful windmills, bunches of wild flowers, and even coins in memory of him at the grave site.

Dieting and exercise are on hold for the day while sweet memories come and go. Today is also our wedding anniversary, and although he has been gone for many years, the memories grow sweeter with each passing year.

As Scarlett O'Hara always says: "tomorrow is another day" ... I'll think about diet and exercise tomorrow.

Happy to say I'm getting back on track. Lost 3 of the 4 pounds I had gained and ready to put on a push to lose some more.

Summer helps with more fresh produce available. Had a Cobb salad for dinner last night. Just snacked on blackberries. And my husband, who was underweight most of his life, but gained weight in the past few years, has been watching what he eats. Can you believe he's lost 12 pounds in the past 4 weeks ! Although I don't lose very fast, I do lose when I try. He's been inspiring me.

We're gonna get healthier together. That means you guys too! emoticon

Hello from Idaho ... Rainy today, expecting snow in the mountains - which is where I live. Might have a negative effect on my walking today :-(

Chippee, seems like life is full of "u-turns" and it is really hard to stay on the "straight- and-narrow" ... I think we all struggle with having to turn things around after a spell of neglect. So, of course, you will get yourself under control soon ... And then on to a great summer. I'm cheering for you!

Do it, NOW!

Hi, everyone, hope all is well.
I've been struggling to get back on track. My anniversary was April 1 and since en I've just kind of backslid. Too many chocolates and eating out and making exceptions which are fine occasionally, but not when it's so frequent.
So, gonna start cracking down today. The scale is finally catching up to my splurges and I'm determined to turn it around and start heading back down again.
It's a beautiful, sunny day. Exceptionally cool, but should make it easier to move.
Have a great day everyone. emoticon

Hi everyone - I just got home from a 10-day visit to my daughter's and, miracle of miracles, I managed to lose 2 pounds during that sweet visit. What that tells me is that I should go visit her more often ... Even if it is a 12-hour drive to get there ( and, of course, another 12 hours to get back home).

I've upped my Fitbit steps to 10,000 per day, often more - except for today and after my long drive, I feel perfectly justified to acknowledge that I'm tired (excuses, excuses, excuses :-l )

Bought a microwave popcorn popper - that uses no oill or butter - at Walmart today, and my idea is to keep a bowl of popped corn on the kitchen counter because I am a 'grazer' and likely to throw something sweet or salty in my mouth when I'm not really hungry. Hoping a few popped kernels will be enough to keep my mouth busy so I don't reach for other not-so-healthy junkier food. We'll see how it goes.

And what are you Sparkers up to?

Do it, NOW!

Good for you Lily! Half a pond is like 2 sticks of butter that's not hanging on your body or traveling through your veins. And it beats staying the same or even gaining.

It's nice to have a goal to motivate you, too. I'm sure you'll look great at your grandson's wedding. California has such great weather. I bet you even manage to lose a bit there too.

Keep moving and make good food choices. You're inspiring me! emoticon

I've just been reminded that my grandson in Cal. (I live in Idaho) getting married on June 18, and I had set a certain goal of weight loss for myself. Unless i get serious about achieving that goal by wedding day, I'm going to be very disappointed with myself - so I'm going to increase my Dailt fitbit steps, and do a better job of Self-monitoring what goes in my mouth. The goal really is do-able, but not unless I do it!

Lost 1/2 pound this past week but surely I can do better than that?? We'll see!

Do it, NOW!

Great suggestions for eating more vegetables. I'm going to try some of them and branch out from there. Thanks!!

I've just about decided that I need to do 10,000 steps a day to get much benefit. I've been hovering between 7,000 and 8,000 per day for a couple of months and haven't lost an ounce! Now that the weather is cooperating I'm going to bump my goal up to 9-10,000 per day and see what happens.

Exercise and vegs - what could it hurt?

Do it, NOW!
