Well, fellow Sparkers ... This topic doesn't seem to be sparking much interest, and I'm fresh out of 'motivational ' ideas to help us regain an interest in this team. We ALL must have had interest when we joined. Spark People 5 years ago???

Knowing that some of us have 'graduated' and are moving on ... And I say, 'good for you'. I am happy for your success. Some of us are 'stuck' or in a rut, or discouraged ... And that is why I keep bugging you ... Because I know that when I find myself in that boat, it is usually some fellow Sparker or friend that helps me get up and try again... And that's what I think SparkPeople is all about!

Sure, we can do what we are going to do by ourselves, but wouldn't it be a lot easier, and more fun, to share this journey with others?? Just sayin' 🎃

Do it, NOW!

I'm still here - just need to refocus my efforts. I keep using the fact that I am breastfeeding my toddler as an excuse not to cut calories (but I end up using it as an excuse to eat EVERYTHING). I am 10 pounds below where I was when I joined SP, but 10 pounds heavier than I was when I got pregnant (which is 40 pounds down from where I was when I gave birth).

I have GOT to start moving and working out again - I know I would feel better...

Hello again WoGrace ... Off, on, off, on ... Again and again ... I'm sure we've all been on that 'roller coaster'. The important thing, it seems to me, is that you 'have the tools' AND you KNOW you have the tools, so you have already put yourself on the road to success! Keep moving forward ... We're with you!! I'm here!!!

So, in the last 5 years I did well, gained it all back, lost even more than the first time, gained all THAT back plus some, and actually hit 331.8 pounds at the beginning of this month. THAT is what stress does to me. I didn't eat more, and I didn't eat worse than usual, but there it is. I've narrowed it down to stress and naproxen sodium. Me and sodium ANYTHING is just a no go.

I have lost 8 pounds so far in the last 2 weeks, and I am continuing my journey. The stress has lessened immensely on one front, increased on another, but I know I have to tools to combat it.

Hi Folks. Thanks for the new "kick-start", Lilybelle. I am still here and I have lost weight since I started the SP journey but my progress is 3 steps forward and 2 steps back. I really identify with what Andi said about the body craving what you give it. My problem is that when I fall off my healthy eating and exercise plan, I have great difficulty getting back to it. I sabotage myself at every turn.
Regardless, I haven't given up and as long as I keep coming back to SP and keep plugging along, I do make progress over the long term.
Thanks for hanging in here with us. I will be watching and reading to try to pick everyone else's brains and plans for help with my own!

Thanks for this info. It sounds logical, and seems to be working for you. I especially agree with setting goals ... If you don't know where you are going.then you'll likely not go anywhere. Keep it up, girl!

Lilybelle8, here is the answer to your question.

The Things I have learned mirror what SP teaches.
1- set goals ( for me this was writting it down and joining a challenge group)
2- start small and focused.
10 min of exercise to start allowed me to feel better without feeling pain and worn out.
Before I tried to do it all, this time I focused on nutrition and what used to be my biggest failing - exercise.
3- I learned the body craves what you give it regularly. Give it junk food and it just craves more. Now my body craves water and non-processed foods. Once I got off the junk its amazing how readily I recognize how crummy I feel when I "treat" myself to an old favorite food. My body and my mind feel like they are struggling to move through molasses.
4 - a lot of it seems to be about being mindful of of how I feel in relationship to what I do and eat. Makes it much easier to make decisions about food and exercise when the focus is on how I will AFTER I eat X or do Y rather than how I feel WHILE I am eating cheescake or walking on the treadmill.
