I am so disappointed in myself. I made myself a cup of coffee this morning and then ate a little biscotti with it. Then I ate about 6 or 7 more!
I guess this will be an exercise in just moving on. Wish I had made a better choice. Think I'll go have something with protein in it now as that was too much sugar to dump into my system first thing in the morning.
Moving on, moving on........

Hope everyone is doing well. I've been kind of holding my own recently which makes me optimistic. Starting to create some good routines. I find that even 20 minutes of aerobics several times a week has been helping.
How are you all doing?

Lily, I have a problem with SAD, too. Something I find helps is spending time outdoors. That extra light can make a difference. Just make sure to bundle up.

If you can afford it, Hawaii is awesome!! Lived there for seven years and still miss it. Florida is ok but like all places on the mainland, the temperature can fluctuate more in one day than it does all year in Hawaii. Where I lived for six of the seven years, the annual temps went from a low in the 60's to a high in the 80's.

Oh no! I'm showing definite signs of early onset of my usual SAD disorder ... Brought on by long winters without much sunshine. I should consider moving to a more moderate, sunny climate!

Do it, NOW!

Eileen, now that's a story. Our situation was so much better. (Except we're 64 and 68.) Still, we were at no risk. Boy, the things we take for granted.

Off to a college basketball game tonight. emoticon emoticon

I was married in Feb. 1968. My husband, Val, was in the Marines stationed in NC. We got married where I lived in Mass and did a honeymoon in the area. All the time, he kept on saying, "Wait until we get to NC - it's warmer & no snow."
We arrived at night. There had been a freak snow storm and there was an inch or more of snow on the ground. We were renting an 8 x 40 trailer. While Val had been up north, the oil burner had put out soot that covered the walls. We turned the water heater on and the whole place filled up with steam from the ceiling down to three or four foot from the ground.
WE WENT TO GET IN THE BED & IT COLLAPSED. We ended up sleeping in the small "bedroom". The room had a bed on one side, the hallway in the middle, and dressers on the other side.

I think others had a slat or two break whereas we had an absolute collapse. The tech who came said he rarely sees a collapse like this. Still, the fact that broken slats are common and they have to recommend a heavier duty system ( which they charge for) shows a design flaw or inadequacy.
Good thing is Bassett ended up covering everything and we're back in our bed.

BTW, this could really give a girl a complex, but come to find out, they have been recommending people purchase a heavy duty support rail system since so many customers have been calling about broken rails!
I just love a happy ending. emoticon emoticon

At first I was really aggravated since they said it wouldn't be covered and we'd have to pay for the service call and parts, but after escalating and explaining that all the slats and supports had broken, it was covered.
Laughing about it now that it's all fixed and this insomniac got almost 7 comfortable, blissful hours of sleep last night.

I hope you also got to laugh about being stuck in a bed or at least laugh in the future. (It's got to be better than crying.)

What a rude awakening!! Falling out of bed is a lot more common than falling "into the bed"
Hopefully that will be a once in a lifetime experience.

So how is this: Last night my husband and I were rudely awakened when our king sized bed collapsed! Thank goodness for the TP foam mattress since they probably absorbed a big amount of the shock. I had a hard time getting out of the V shaped bed/mattress then which made it very clear that I need to work on my core.
So, I'm going to try to remember to add crunches, etc. to strengthen my core.
In the meantime, not looking forward to the ordeal of calling the furniture company to fix the problem ASAP!

Thanks! It's been slow trying to lose the 50 pounds I gained during the pregnancy (and people who drop all their pregnancy weight by the time they go back to work make me sick... all jealousy on my part...).

Tracy,
Breastfeeding does burn calories. Everyone is different, but when I stopped breast feeding I gained a lot in the first month afterward. I think it's because my mom advised me to eat a lot while I was breastfeeding to provide enough milk.

In retrospect, I would have just continued to eat a very healthy, well-balanced diet and not had the extra food.

Others tend to lose when they stop, so you'll see how your body is, but wanted to mention it, just in case you'd find it helpful.

I've somehow dropped a little weight - but it's probably from breastfeeding...

Tracy, you and I share some of the same exercises ... A 6-month old (in my case it is Annorah, my newest granddaughter) comes in handy for strength training, as well as the jouncing and bouncing for extra daily steps! I then add in a 3-year old wild man boy, and think it should add up to more than the recommended daily exercise. Too bad the scale doesn't seem to recognize my efforts.

Do it, NOW!

I don't get on the message board often enough - right now my exercise consists of swaying and bouncing while wearing a 20 pound 6 month old... sometimes I do squats while wearing him...

I agree with Chippee about dancing around for exercise. One of my 'best friend Sparkers ' came to me through the Richard Simmons team on SparkPeople ... And we both agreed that we don't really follow his exercise routine, but we do like to 'move it' to his music. I think I'll dig out the VHS versions of Richard again. Great idea, Chippee ... Let's all get moving.

Do it, NOW!

I'm still kicking around, too. I've been trying to get in some walking or aerobics a few times a week and not doing too badly. I'm kind of treading water right now. Seems that as long as I have a few good days amidst some not so good ones I can pretty much maintain.
I am determined to get back on track though. Winter is hard, though as we tend to stay inside more and I love to read so I'm more sedentary. We had about 8 inches of snow where I am in Dutchess County, NY last week and tonight is snow turning to freezing rain so I'll probably stick around tomorrow.
Still, if I put on some Latin dance music, I cannot stay still so that's good.
Let's all dance and move and get and keep healthy together!

OH MY GOSH!!! I haven't heard from or about you, SANDIELD, in such a long time ... and am so happy that you've popped up on my radar screen again. Do I remember correctly that you live in San Diego? As I am looking out my window right now at big, fluffy snowflakes here in Idaho, San Diego sounds pretty cozy.

Good job on the daily exercise. What I have going is occasional exercise and consistently poor eating habits. Knowing that I can do better, I often wonder why I don't? Another one of Life's Mysteries goes unsolved.

Your way sounds much healthier than my way - maybe I'll be a copy cat :-) .. Keep posting - every one has some good ideas to share.

I can agree with you, but I will try to be positive. In spite of my occasional poor eating habits, I have continued to be consistent with the daily exercise and that has helped the numbers that are more important than the numbers on the scale. I had blood work last week and all is well.

Here we are once more ... End of another year is just around the corner. I can't really say I have a lot to show as far as weight loss goes, but I would be silly to expect better results, based on the effort I've put in to it. I can do better ... Starting now!
