I'm still reading through everything to see if I have this down... I don't have internet access at home, but for the most part have access at the library or at work. I'm hoping that by watching the video, I can retain everything and then do the workout myself at home. emoticon I've never been part of a challenge but have wanted to do it...

I signed up for the bootcamp and am really nervous. This is my first challenge and I hope I am ready, because I purchased my dumbells and stability ball yesterday and still feel kinda scared. I need to do my measurements, which is the part I'm scared of. lol. Truth is what is scaring me I guess. But going to give this a try. emoticon

I plan on using my treadmill and bike for the cardio part. I wonder if Leslie Sansone Walks would count as cardio to?

Thank you Sarah, for letting me know how long the videos are. They aren't as long as I thought, so I can sleep just a bit later. : )

You can get a good stability ball with a CD at walmart for $6 and yes zumba comes on videos as well. They have some good deals on ebay for them, HOWEVER! There is nothing quite like being in a group, big or small to help you push thru even when you get a little tired. I get lost alot and lose the groove, but you just keep going. I have found that I really lost my dance abilities as I get old AND that is ok. I am also very shy about doing anything in public, it took me almost 8 months to join a gym and I refused to go to Zumba even tho I was invited for months. I started in a small group of about 5-10 and now I am in a new class with over 20 and we have men too! I still get confused, go the wrong way, giggle and laugh at myself, but I have fun and it is really more fun than a workout! I am going to a beginners class tonight and taking two newbies with me, maybe 3. Take on the challenge!

Roxann--sure know what you mean about "instable" balls, but I just kept sitting on it, finding my balance and doing some simple arms exercises, very slow. I really enjoy the extra strength to my core and balance I feel I have now so keep with it.

Also want to remind everyone especially new to exercise persons that to begin your exercise time every day or during the times you have set is the most critical. I didn't say that right but getting out the door or getting first few minutes in is the worst of it. I tell myself when I don't feel like exercising "ok, you only have to do 5 min or 10 min" but always when I get that first few minutes done I always want to complete it. So just keep on keepin' on.

Brenda

I'm going to be walking the dog or going to the gym and using the eliptical machine. I'm a little nervous about the stability ball. They're, well, less than stable. They feel like an injury waiting to happen.

EHULQUIST: The ball has to be strong enough to sit on. Your kids' balls probably weren't designed for that.

Anyone that hasn't tried Zumba really should find a class. Some places offer beginners classes and they are fantastic, a great way to burn 600-900 calories and you don't even know you are exercises, just having a blast!

We have a balance ball and weight set at home. I use the balance ball as my desk chair - that sucker definitely works you out! Someone asked about inflation - mine is a little big so I let it get a little deflated and now it works for me better.

I just checked out a new belly dance workout DVD (I've been in dance for 2 years) and just watching it made me tired (and intimidated). In one session even the instructor is sweating - can't wait to try it out!

I am already signed up for a conditioning class on January 3 so that will be my first boot camp work out. emoticon

This may seem like a silly question, but how do we track the videos on our fitness page? Or do we even bother?

My current set up has me doing strength training 3-4 times a week, specific exercises. Should I scrap all of that and manually enter the exercises I do in the video, or just not worry about it?

I am trying a new exercise tonight. it is called cardio strip. I have seen it advertised so I decided after months of being hesitant to give it a try. It seem like fun. It includes pole dancing and lap dancing.

I f first you don"t succeed brush your self off and try again.

I *love* EA Active for the Wii! I got the "more workouts" version for Christmas along with a step for the wii fit balance board and an 8lb medicine ball. I got weights and a ball last year for Christmas (and haven't used them... lucky for me bootcamp came along!) I also have my fitness coach for the wii but I don't use it very much, I have a heard time following aerobic type videos. I will be using the various wii things for my cardio mostly and looking on freecycle & craigslist for a free/cheap rowing machine or nordic skier.

I'm all ready. I couldn't find my weights (still packed), but I have 3 different resistance bands, so I should be good to go. I plan on using my Wii for the Cardio (Golds gym boxing, EA Active, Biggest Loser, and My personal trainer are really good to get the heart pumping).

I just signed up for the boot camp stating in Jan. I'm a little nervous about it because I always find excuses not to exercise. I hope by signing up for this I will make it a priority. Righ now I'm a little concerned about how much weight a stability ball can hold.

This is my routine.. When Dd is in school I walk Monday-Friday 55-60 minutes very briskly, and I do 3 days of weight lifting and 5 days of sit ups, push ups, and other exercises. I have a medicine ball I use for a few exercises and a fitness ball that I use for wall squats. I also have a old and failing elliptical that I use on Tuesday and Thursday for 20 minutes and on the weekends when I can't get out of the house. When my dd is off from school ( like now for the winter break) I can't walk so I use the elliptical only for 30 minutes instead( in addition to the other exercises).

For those that don't have time to order a stability ball from SP, I know that I have seen them at the local retail stores i.e Wal-Mart, Target and Shopko and Dunham Sports. I will be starting with smaller weights and building up as I go along.
