Hi Margo,

It looks like there is some kind of glitch. The same thing is happening on my account now as well. I will let the tech team know so they can investigate when they have time. Sorry about that!

Hi Spark_Merle,

If I click the sync today button it will load the information. But if I don't click the sync today button it doesn't come over. So I was able to go back in time to get the sleep information to sync but it isn't working on its own moving forward.

I had reauthorized some time ago because it wasn't coming over and another thread had advised someone to reauthorize. It didn't change what I was getting sent over from Fitbit.

Hi Margo,

I clicked the "Sync for today" button on your Fitness Tracker page for Dec 18th and your sleep data did come over. You can see it there now. I expect it will work going forward since you did the reauthorization. But, if you want past days, you will likely have to use that Sync button to get that data.

Hope this helps!

Thanks. I thought it was supposed to transfer sleep information but it stopped some time ago. I went in a while back and re-authorized but sleep still isn't transferring.

Hi CARAMELSMOM,

Yes, sleep still transfers from Fitbit to SparkPeople. The original poster was just asking about fitness and food so I didn't think to mention the sleep component--that is still available as long as you allow that permission when you set up the connection (or during a reauthorization).

Hope that helps!

I had thought that at one time the sleep information from Fitbit would transfer to Spark. Am I imagining things or is this something that used to exist but no longer does?

I wish the sleep information would transfer.

Thanks.

There is one thing that I have noticed with my Fitbit and SP Land passing on what I eat. If I put it under breakfast and it was supposed to go under lunch and I correct it in SP Land, the information on the Fitbit says I had it for breakfast and lunch and it will not correct itself the way SP Land does, so you will have to go in manually and correct that.

Blessings!

Yep, that's the way the data flows.

Just to verify...

Food
SparkPeople -> Fitbit

Exercise (Steps and activities)
Fitbit -> SparkPeople

And obviously both systems must be receiving information correctly for either of those to work.

Thanks!

Spark_Merle,

Thank you for clarifying that for me as you put it in plain English, so to speak, and I understood every word. Again, thank you!!!

Hi DUCKBOXXER,

The way the connection works is that food goes one way (from SparkPeople to Fitbit) only and not the other way around. Fitness activities and steps go one way the other way (from Fitbit to SparkPeople).

When you connected Fitbit to SparkPeople, there were several permissions you had the option to approve. And what specifically syncs between your accounts depends on what permissions you granted.

One thing to note is that your data syncs to us from the Fitbit back end system only; we do not receive anything directly from your Fitbit device nor from their app. If you are not seeing your steps sync to SparkPeople, check to make sure they have synced to Fitbit.com (not just to their app). Once there, they typically sync to us within a few minutes. You can also click the button on the Fitness Tracker page to trigger a manual sync for that day from Fitbit.

I hope this makes sense and helps! Let me know if you need additional assistance.

Hey Duckboxxer!!! I enter EVERYTHING into SP Land and it automatically puts it in my Fitbit. I have never done it any other way and I am not sure if I set something up in the beginning for it to do that.

Blessings!

I just set up integration between my Fitibt Inspire HR and want to know what is supposed to sync. I see that food from Fitbit went to SP (almost immediately) but thus far I haven't see food from SP go to Fitbit or exercise at all. Is it that I am impatient? I ask because some information may be easier to enter via one application/ website or the other depending on the activity, day of the week, the phase the moon is in, etc. :)
