New Balance, SAS, Sketchers, Asics, Nike have been great for us.

Going to echo ECONLADY here on the Walking Company. Excellent selection of quality walking shoes. The store was recommended to us by my husband's podiatrist.

Then I broke my ankle the Dr told me to get good walking or running shoes. No sling, heals over 1 inch, flip-flops, or open back shoes. I have tried just about every shoe out there from 15 to 150 dollars. For me Dr schols, walking shoes and Aces work the best.

good for you. This OCD exraying was driving my crazy.

I could look for a specialty store, but live in a pretty rural community..

I have always liked Birkenstocks, but not sure it that would be enough support.

I know I will have to have some strong support around the ankle.

Thanks for you 2 cents

You might want to go to a good shoe store that specializes in sport shoes. They will fit you and watch your gate. I broke my left ankle and right foot two years ago. I was also X-rayed every week. After 8 weeks I said enough! Went back at 12 weeks and had the cast removed. Put the boot cast that Iíd used on my right foot on the left. Iíd previously broken my right ankle and at that time I had the one X-ray, they said see you in 8 weeks, X-rayed again. I donít see the need for weekly X-rays??
