I'm 5'8, get 30,000 steps a day, 14,000 is walking the dogs. I have lost 50 pounds and have found I do best at about 1,500 calories a day. You are going to be different, but that will give you some idea. I would gain all my weight back if I did Fitbit's calories.

Oh, I don't eat the lowest but I don't go to the highest either. There are some days my tracker says I can have 2500 calories!

For years before Fitbit came out I wore a pedometer. Not a cheap one but about middle of the road. Over the years I wore several different kinds. I always got close to the same number of steps for a measured distance. When I got a Zip, I found that if I put it on my waist I got the same numbers, when I put it on my ankle I got the same numbers for the measured distance, but was over for work. I spoke to a guy that had researched the fitness trackers. To the point one time he put 10 Fitbit ones on at different places at the same time. He told me the difference was what he called soft steps, where you move your feet when you move your feet under your desk.

Remember if you eat below you lowest recommended the SP recommends, you your body might go into starvation mode and you burn less calories.

I like your explanation Mary Alice. I'm not worried about exactness. Just like to know my steps and I certainly don't eat as many calories as Spark tells me I can have when I have a lot of steps and activity that day. My FitBit is basically another way that I can keep track of where I'm at. Just like to make sure I'm getting plenty of steps in a day.

Fitbit tells SP how many minutes, any exercise Fitbit doesn't recognize swimming yoga and such can be entered manually. I don't worry about it since Fitbit sees way more exercise then SP will give me credit for. As for calories in/calories out. There are so many things to consider that it is next to imposable to get good number. Weather SP or Fitbit.

Take walking, Both SP and Fitbit say they use walking on a treadmill with no incline. But both say if you walk outside, I do, You have different surfaces, weather conditions, hills, and on and on. I found an exercise program that works for me and don't worry about calories.

Thanks for the answer. So if I sync my zip, then SP should also be synced to.? What about the exercises I do & enter on fitness page, but the minutes don't count. Why not? Do you know?

I never had any problem with the zip. SP doesn't sync to a tracker it syncs to the Fitbit web site. SP has always pulled over the same steps that the Fitbit web site had, no matter which tracker I wore that day or how often I changed tracker. I wear the zip when I forget to charge my charge and I have a flex for water play

SP Will not show all my exercise minutes from the zip. It will show only part of my steps for exercise. Anyone know why SP will not sync with the zip?
