I got my fitbit the middle of June and discovered a couple of weeks later that I could link it to Sparkpeople. I have no problem synching. Just have to remember that food logged on Sparkpeople will go to fitbit but not the other way around.

I'm so glad that SP finally is able to link to the Fitbit. I don't know when it started, but I'm glad I found out about it. It was actually on the mobile messageboard that I found out about this just this week. It makes it so much easier to track my activity.

Hi All,

since my SPAT went down the toilet (literally) earlier this month, I dusted off my fitbit zip. WIth SPAT I was able to see my active minutes itemized. With Fitbit, it combines my total active minutes. Since I commute, I break up my workouts throughout the day, 10-12 minutes here and there, one to three times/day. With SPAT I was able to see all three, not with fitbit.

Is there a way to set the fitbit so I see the individual workouts instead of them being combined?

I have the same issue as well, right now it shows on the zip that I have over 2,000 steps and I synced today and on Sparks it only shows 690 steps, don't know what's with that.

My Fitbit is synced to Spark, but I do not let it determine my calorie intake anymore. There were days where I would get 10,000 steps and it would say I could eat 2,000 calories. THat just didn't seem right, so I stopped that.

Others? Do you have it where your FitBit determines how many calories you can eat?

Thank you for all that info, I just set my fitbit up last night. I'm having trouble getting it to sync with Spark however my food intake did communicate to my fitbit (to my surprise).

Hi,

Not know what model you have You need to read the Manual and it should help you
The Manuals ARE Here:

I am new to this team & as a fitbit user but not new to Spark People. I just purchased my fitbit flex this last Saturday & realize that like initially becoming a SPARKPEOPLE user that the fitbit has a large learning curve but I'm beginning to really like it a lot. I have made friends with my silent alarm and now it gets me up in the morning to go on a morning walk (rather than being blared at by an alarm. Be patient.. ! It will all come together little by little. Technology can be very frustrating and then liberating.

I'm reading finding many people like me are struggling with the learning curve of fitbit use in reference to syncing with other devices and things not matching up.

I have an iphone 4 (which is considered an older iphone that will not sync with the fitbit on all applications) but will read what has synced with the computer from SPARKPEOPLE & the SPARKPEOPLE app from my phone but oddly not in reverse.

*Meaning I can track specifically food from SPARKPEOPLE and then the data will then sync into the fitbit tracking system but I cannot track food intake on the fitbit & then have it show up on SPARKPEOPLE (so far I've only figured out how to track my distrance and steps on the fitbit and then have it sync with SPARKPEOPLE.

I'm finding that the following article to be of particularly good use:

help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_

ticle/How-do-Fitbit-trackers-sync-wiR>th-iOS-devices

Keep at it we'll figure out this together..

Help! Just realized I could sync my Fitbit Surge to Spark. I transferred each day for the past week and I don't know where the expended calories for exercise came from, but the number synced to Spark was not the total for the day or exercise calories. Can anyone help. Thanks

Yup. Stopped syncing with Fitbit for me too, despite being connected in the "connect" section. Isn't tracking workout or sleep.

Doh! I just noticed that I'm not getting any fitness minutes synced anymore. I see by previous comments that it has been going on for a little while. Oh, Spark, Spark, Spark. I'm not going to buy your tracker. I guess I'll just go without any points or credit for my hard work. It will still count in the most important place anyway--my body.

I am new to Fitbit, and have also started (prior to buying my Fitbit) been using my S Health in my smartphone. Several times this week, my S Health has logged a lot more (once, twice as much) as my Fitbit. I put off purchasing a Fitbit as I had gotten one of the Spark walkers last year, and it was a migraine and a waste of time - every time I turned around I had to resync it, until it was having to be done every hour, at which time I disconnected it. If I'm going to have the same problem with this Fitbit, I'll just use my phone!!

I know that God will not give me anything that I can't handle. I just wish that He didn't trust me so much. - Mother Teresa

For those complaining about calories on the fitbit, it depends on which fitbit you have. I have the new one that has a heart rate monitor included in it, so that is how the calories are calculated. Might want to consider upgrading. Well worth it.

Thanks DEETZ1 for the link for the team members.
I have been sparring with one of the monitors for most of April at that other chain.
I am not sure why SP does NOT want to track our steps. Their logic simply does not make sense.

I will repeat some of what I wrote over there:
This is my proof that Fitbit is still transmitting total steps, not just "ACTIVE" minutes.

The drugstore chain Walgreens gives store credit for fitness, every step is converted into a fraction of a mile and points are awarded for each mile. NOTHING has changed over there. My steps are still counted, my miles are accumulated, I am still receiving store credit as if nothing had ever changed.

You can still go in every night and manually enter your steps. I have set my goal at 6000/day and can go in at midnight or the next morning and simply copy the data from your fit bit. Perhaps if we all do that and loudly proclaim that we are doing that they may take notice and change their protocol.

I think most message boards are monitored...sure wish someone from Spark could fix this. I have a year long streak of 125 minutes or more a week...and I usually have more! Now I don't and I won't be able to get it back. Such a shame. This is a major blooper to me!

I have the plain old Fitbit Zip and have had it synced for well over a year. My steps are being recorded but not my minutes for the last few days! My week shows zero minutes of exercise and that is NOT the case! Is there anything that I can do to make this work? I have looked to see that I am connected to SP and obviously if my steps are recorded on my Fitness Tracking, something is working!

Hopefully someone can help with this!

Mary

My Fitbit One just decided to stop syncing. It has synced all this time. It synced like normal on Sunday, but hasn't since then. When I go to the "connect devices" page, it says it's already connected.

Update: I have been logging my tracker in via my phone (android) app. All of my steps show up there, they just weren't syncing up with SP. So I went to the fitbit site via a computer. Nope. None of my steps were showing up on the website - but they were on the app. Hmmm. So I logged into the website (not the app) via my phone. Bingo. All of a sudden every step was there. Double checked on the computer. Yup. Now they were there. Strange. Gotta love technology. Everything is syncing with SP now. Go figure.

I'm synced and appreciate there's one less entry for me to worry about. Like Bibliotekar2 I don't measure my calories or food that closely. (I kind of "eyeball it" : ) Have a great day!!

@ AMESS9515"

The syncing path is as follows:

Food syncs from SparkPeople to FitBit
Fitness syncs from FitBit to SparkPeople
Weight syncs in either direction
Water does not sync
Changes made to food entries do not sync either. You must delete the food entry on the FitBit page and then re-enter the correction on that page only.

So in response to your question, unfortunately no.

how do you get it to sync? I've allowed it on both pages but it doesn't seem to do it. Please help!

Not sure, but will watch to hear the answer...

My sleep record was all messed up yesterday--I wonder if that sort of thing happens when the battery is low.

All the best,

Is there a way to sync the food you enter in the fitbit app to the Spark page? Or do I have to enter it in both places?

Update:
I was pretty frustrated with the fitbit to spark logging issues... I think i went through 11 system re-boots. As a brain injury survivor, this is really hard. It was barely worth it--UNTIL IT WORKED.

I am glad I stuck with it. While it may have been me, I don't honestly think so... the 'links' to do this are pretty well hidden inside blog updates...and then they don't always work. I am not trying to be a whiner, it was just rough.

NOW I am working with all my data, I feel like it will be a better fit (pun intended) for me :)
I REALLY appreciate the information on my sleep (or lack there of). This is good info for myself and for my neurologist.

I would LOVE to see a simple note here like FIT BIT TO SPARK EASY FIX! Gosh that would have been grand. I don't have the brain power to go and read every item in the background, go back and forth and not have stuff actually work.

Thanks y'all!

Hey there,
My flex is working and while the mile is synced to the Spark page, it is not syncing the steps. I have started/stopped/rebooted/re-installed and am frustrated! Any clues???

Thanks! emoticon

Hey! Got my flex in the mail this morning and set it up. It has synced all 22 steps since I put it on. Ok just a few more to go!

Ok, I've tried reading the entire thread for the answer, but I still haven't found it.

When I got to my Fitness page, today it said I had burned 300 calories. Then when I clicked Sync my Fitbit, the minutes stayed the say but my calories burned went down to 131.

I know it only syncs or moderately or very active minutes, but why do the calories change? Today, it seems the 131 was more accurate, but is that always the case?

Hello
I just received my Fitbit Surge. I love it! but I am getting frustrated with Sparks!
Everytime I try to synch my fitbit with spark - my husband's info is entered. So it is his weight and his steps and his sleep time. I don't know how to fix this. I have disconnected and tried to reconnect but the same thing happens. The dashboard on my computer is logged in for my info.
emoticon any ideas? - thank you
