I just need to put this out there in case anyone else with a FitBit Versa 2 has the same problem. Spark People does not sync with my Fitbit on maybe two or three days every week and if it does not happen by midnight them I get cheated out of all the steps that I have struggled to walk. I even leave my tablet open with the Fitbit page running so SP can sync but there are days that it still does not happen. I think I am getting a little frustrated with SP so I am going with the steps on the Fit bit since I am wearing it when I am walking. If anyone has any suggestions that would fix this I would appreciate hearing about them.

Hi Merle!

My phone was off and in a closet on the other side of the house, so I don't see how it could have disrupted the Bluetooth search for the Fitbit.

I'll take another look at the manual when I get home from vacation. At least I know I can track my steps and sync to my phone while away.

Thanks!

When you tried connecting to your PC, did you first disconnect the Inspire form your phone or make sure the phone was far away from it so your Fitbit didn't keep trying to connect to the phone?

I don't have an Inspire so I do not know if there is something unique with that model. You probably have already been through the user manual; but, here is a link to it in case you have not done that:

What do you think? My brand new Fitbit Inspire (the basic one) will not sync with my PC or my Android tablet--only with my Pixel 3a. But I don't use my phone very much and would prefer to sync to my PC. I have the app installed on my PC and it says to turn off Bluetooth to my other devices, but it still won't sync.

I did a long chat session with someone at Fitbit, but he gave up trying to sync with my PC once he learned that I had a Smartphone that would sync. I explained what I said above, that I would prefer to do it with my PC, but he just kind of shut down the conversation. When I asked if this wasn't a problem with the Inspire since it SAYS it's supposed to sync with Windows 10, he said, "No, because it synced with your phone." Huh? That doesn't seem right to me.

Anyway, any advice on how to get my PC to recognize it? I checked the Bluetooth drivers and they are up to date. Anything else I could try?

Would you return and try another?

Thanks,

CJ

Hi,

I can see your Fitbit has synced. Does it seem to be working okay or did you have to trigger a manual sync? It should sync to your SparkPeople account automatically after your device has synced your data to Fitbit.com.

I hope all is good. Love my Fitbit!

I just bought a Fitbit Charge 3. Does this automatically sync or is there something I need to do daily?

Hi HOBBESIS49,

Our connection with Fitbit is such that food only goes from SparkPeople to Fitbit, not the other way. That is by design. And fitness (minutes and steps) only goes from Fitbit to SparkPeople.

Does that answer your question or did I misunderstand what you are asking?

So I recently found my old Fitbit that had been lost ages ago during a move. I was amazed to find after all this time it still works. emoticon

But. . .

I have discovered that Spark People Tracking food log will populate to my Fitbit BUT NOT the other way around. So now with using the Fitbit I either have to track only on SP for logging and water but for everything else I can do the Fitbit. I am not sure what I am going to do. I keep reading and trying different things. Perhaps it is because Fitbit is a Fitbit flex and is several years old. I’ve looked at the newer ones but for now this one feels like an old friend. I hope to make it work out with not having to mess with something new. I have to admit this is getting pretty frustrating. After reading a lot of your stories although it does not look like I am alone in my search for answers.

I Love my Fitbit although & am so happy I finally found her emoticon

Can anyone tell me if the newer Fitbit models also have this same issue. . .

Hi ADRIENALINE,

I would be annoyed by that too. Is it possible your Alta is not automatically updating your daily activity on Fitbit.com? We get data from their back end system and not directly from the devices, so as long as the Alta syncs there first, it will then sync to SparkPeople. They send data to us, we do not pull it from Fitbit unless you use our sync button.

I have the charge 3 which is waterproof & is supposed to track laps. I bought this model because it tracks swimming. The pool in my community hasn't opened yet, so I have not been able to see how well it works.

This will be, I hope, the last long story about my Fit Bit. I finally got the replacement and since they didn't have any more of the one I bought just last year they replaced it with the next one in line (a Versa 2) which is still outdated but it seems to be working so I am not saying anything. I managed to get it all set up today and hope that it will sync with SP the way I want it to. I just looked and it is trying but slow so I will see how long it takes to catch up. I am just happy to have it back because having it really does motivate me to go out walking. Lets just hope it keeps working.

I never even thought about the fit bit being waterproof. It's something I could use as I do go out to the lake if the weather permits. I don't really know what version of the fit bit I am going to end up with because they asked me what I wanted to do. The two options were to replace the Versa that I have had for the last eight months or take a 50% discount off a different one. I chose to replace the Versa which turned out to be a trick question because the email reply said that they didn't have any more Versa models so they were sending me a newer different model. The helpline was both helpful and a royal pain. I got good people who understood what I was trying to do and some who really could care less. I guess that might be the way with all help lines. I am waiting to see how things go but I am not going to lose the helpline number that's for sure.

MISS_STELLA1 - That's great that they are replacing your Fitbit! I surely hope the new one works well for you. My current Fitbit (Charge 2) works and syncs well; but, I've been thinking about buying a waterproof one so I can swim with it. So I am very interested in how your customer experience is going with them.

Just had my final call with the Fit Bit help line and they have officially given up on the fit bit I bought about 8 months ago and they are sending me a replacement one. Not sure how long that is going to take since I don't know where it is coming from but either way I will be off the grid until the new one arrives. More news to follow I am sure but not for at least a week.

I am pretty frustrated with this fancy new Fit Bit that I indulged in not even a year ago but the woman on the Fit Bit help line that I spoke with this morning actually was really very nice and gave me more information in the 10 mins or so that we had to come up with a solution. I found out that I can't sync my fit bit until I download and install the latest Apple update and since my phone won't let me do that it means another help line and another bunch of techies that don't like talking to people like me who know less than nothing but that is for tomorrow. After I do that I should be able to sync the fit bit but it means another day or two of no tracking which can't be helped. At least I got somewhere finally. As a last resort I really am thinking about ditching the fit bit and going for another kind of tracker. It's an option I have really thought about.

Miss Stella,

I had the exact same problem (6 postings in this thread)... the only thing that fixed it for me, unfortunately, was buying a new Fitbit (after struggling for nearly 10 months).

I hope you do not have to go to that length, but I do want you to know that is a possibility so that you are prepared for it if that is the case. I hope not though.

Best of luck to you.

Here comes the latest updated update on my ongoing fight to have my Fit Bit Versa sync with Spark People or my tablet or my phone or all three if life was perfect. My third call to the Fit Bit help line this morning was the best one I had so far as long as it lasted. I was talking to a really nice lady who told me that the problem showed up after the latest Apple update and just as she was about to tell me how to correct it, the call got dropped. UGH!!! I have decided to let the whole thing rest for the next three days because I am beyond frustrated and if I need to write down the steps from my Fit Bit I will do that to save my mental health. I am sure there will be more and if by chance I do find someone who can fix this I will definitely let you all know.

Just thought I would post an update to the misery of my Fitbit and its inability to sync with the rest of the world. I got a phone number to the Fitbit help desk and actually got to speak to a real human being. That's the good part of this rant. I was busy explaining (whining) to this nice person about all the crap that my Fitbit has been handing out lately and in the middle of it the Fitbit from H E double toothpicks starts to sync perfectly. As of about 1/2 hour ago it is still syncing perfectly. I hate it when I look like an idiot. I could almost hear the person on the help desk sighing. The good news is I am up and running so life is good again.

Hi MISS_STELLA1,

Sorry to hear your Fitbit is not syncing again. Have you contacted the Fitbit support people? Since the issue seems to be on that end of things; hopefully, they can help.

I guess I get to answer my own last message and I just want to say that I hate it when I am right. My Fit Bit stopped talking to Spark People at the end of May so I deleted the Fit Bit App and re Installed it about a million times and lo and behold it started working again for all of two days. I see it is gone again today so instead of being a tad upset I am going to ignore the whole thing and deal with it later. Anyone who has ever had this problem and managed to solve it please let me know. You'll be saving a life - mine!!!

Thank you for the information about syncing the fit bit with SP. I will try anything at this point. It seems to be back today but I'm not optimistic that it will stay. I deleted it from my iPad and my phone so now it is only on my computer. Annoying but wasn't having any luck the other way.

I had a similar issue. I first had it sync with my phone. Then it asked to sync with my iPad, and I said, ďyes.Ē Now my phone wonít sync until after Iíve done it with the iPad. Sometimes it takes several minutes for the ďsync and refreshĒ to complete, with a big stall at first. When it really canít find the Fitbit, I plug it into the charger and then try to sync. That seems to help. Go into tools and settings in SP Exercises and reauthorize.

Good luck!

I am really hoping that someone out there will be able to help me with this problem. I have a Fitbit Versa less than one year old and I would like it to sync with Spark People and it has been but not on a regular basis. Each other day or so when I want to sync my steps that I know I have taken it keeps telling me that no device can be found. I have tried deleting it and I have tried just about everything I can think of. Yesterday was good and it recorded everything and now today it is gone again. I am so frustrated. If anyone has a solution I would love to know how to fix this once and for all.

My last update just in case others have this same issue come along...

I was able to track my unrecorded Fitbit steps from the past under "Other Goals," however, that is the only location that it shows for those dates. It does not add it to the fitness tracker as having done anything.

So... kinda pointless.

My new Fitbit is recording daily, so that is good.
SparkPeople does seem to be sending food calories to Fitbit, though not water intake (which is odd).

Thank you, SparkMeryl, for all you do for us!

UPDATE: Apparently I cannot log the unlogged Fitbit distances without having the times. So converting those steps was wasted. Will attempt to log the steps, now that you've told me where to do it (Other Goals).

Hahaha...

I had wanted to record the steps but couldn't figure out how to make it happen manually, even after looking it up on my search engine. So I whipped out a calendar and converted it all. Well, "whipped out a calendar" isn't actually accurate. I figured out how to calculate my stride and then went to www.thecalculatorsite.com . I hope that's an okay link to put here, it's got a lot of great calculators relevant to the SparkPeople community.

Regardless, yes, this information you've given me will be helpful! Thank you!

Hi PINKLISSA,

If it is distance you want to record, go to your Fitness Tracker page and click on the "Mileage" tab. You can enter distance there. Use the back arrow next to the little calendar icon (or use the icon itself) to go back and select past ate.

If you are wanting to record steps, you can go to your "Other Goals" page (My Trackers - Other Goals), and enter steps for your step goal there.

I hope this helps! And hope you enjoy your new Fitbit!

Hi SparkMeryl,

I just got a new Fitbit (today is day one) and it seems to be syncing automatically.

I have written down my distances from the FLEX and am hoping to find a place where I can go in and enter them manually for all of those no steps recorded days.

I will wait a week or so and see if SparkPeople sends my food tracking to my Fitbit account as well. Am really hoping everything goes back and forth as I desire it to!

Have a great week!

Thanks Merle.
I deleted and reactivated the account and it now works. The numbers do not match 100% but close.
I did actually have another account and changed it recently with my new Fitbit. Perhaps that was part of the problem.

Hi RUBYKINS1,

I checked your account and can see you have your Fitbit account connected to SparkPeople and Fitbit is sending us that calories burned info. However, they do not show a Fitbit device on your account and that is why there are no steps. Do you happen to have more than one Fitbit account? Please log into Fitbit's website and check your account there to be sure it shows your device as being connected. If you do see your device there and it shows your steps on their site, please check what your Fitbit User ID is (it will look something like 2VTYJ2) and let me know what that is so I can see if it matches the account you have connected here.

Iím still waiting for My Fitbit steps to show up on SparkPeople, All it shows are 997 calories burned which is highly unlikely . My Bluetooth is on and I gave all the authorizations to Sparkpeople. I manually requested sync since it didnít, happen and still no steps showing I an also connected to the Weight Watchers App and there are no problems syncing there.

I just checked again and it now shows 1007 calories- itís counting calories like steps

Hi,

As long as your permissions are set up to allow it, fitness should sync to us from Fitbit and food should sync from SparkPeople to Fitbit. If you tell me a couple of those dates where FB and SP do not match on steps, I will take a look.

My Fitbit data is syncing to the Fitbit website dashboard. Though it is true for the last 8 months or so (since September I believe) I have been having issues with my app finding my device. But that is a totally different issue.

I checked the Fitbit site to see that it was allowed to communicate with SparkPeople and it does list having permission to do so.

Should it be communicating in both directions or do I have to do things like add my food and water to both locations separately?

So ON SparkPeople ...

Even if I get it to sync by pushing that "Sync Now" or "Sync For date" buttons and it works, it does not fill in the missing past dates that my device has collected. So I have to go back and tell it to sync each date separately, and it doesn't always work. I have steps showing on the Fitbit site that I cannot seem to sync to certain dates here regardless of how many attempts I make. It's rather frustrating.

I am happy to hear it is just not working properly as that means it is fixable.

I appreciate your time helping me work this out Spark_Merle.

Hi PINKLISSA,

No, you should not have to click the sync request button every day. For most people, the sync happens automatically throughout the day. The main cause of that not happening is usually because your device has not offloaded your data to Fitbit's system. Your data has to sync to the Fitbit system backend, not just to their app, before it will sync to SparkPeople. You might want to log into Fitbit.com to check that your data is there first.

Hope this helps!

Hi Spark_Merle,

I have a basic question first and then if the answer is no I will have a little bit of work to do and come back for some of your hands-on-my-account magic I see you have done for others.

So, here is the question: Do I really have to his the Sync Request or Sync for Today buttons each and every day? There must be an easier way. I sync the day after because it isn't automatic and I want credit for the steps I take in the after-midnight hours too! (every little step is a step toward the goal).

Thank you so much!

I have a similar question. Do we need to separately track exercises that donít generate steps?

For example, when I use a stationary bike while wearing my Fitbit, it doesnít generate many steps but Iím definitely moving muscles and my heart rate goes up. Is that already captured in exercise calories burned or do I need to add it as an additional activity?

Sorry, but does anyone know when it comes to your Fitbit syncing with exercise minutes and calories burned if you need to also log in separately your workouts?
Does it keep track of miles done on a walk?

Hi SUNSHINEROSE3,

There are generally 2 reasons why your step data might not match.

1) If you manually enter steps on Fitbit, those will not sync to SparkPeople. We only use steps that were tracked on your device.

2) Your device has not synced all your steps to Fitbit's backend system. We get data from their system and not from your device nor from their app. It is possible for your steps to sync to the Fitbit app and not to their site. You can check on that by logging into your account at fitbit.com.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you want me to check anything else on your account. If there is a particular date where you want me to try to verify your step count, just let me know.

HI, I noticed that my Fitbit and SparkPeople doesn't match. My Fitbit is saying I have a lot more steps then what is showing on SP. Is there anything I can do to get them the same.
I'm new with Fitbit, so it's all a new to me.

Thank you

Spark Merle, My new Inspire HR has been synced and been listing everything since I got it and first synced it with SP. The other day for several days it just wasn't recording my steps on SP. I kept working with it and nothing. Finally yesterday, it came back to working as sneakily as it quit working....lol It was tracking on my watch but not SP. All okay now. Thank for your response.

ELLYMOUSE,

I know you asked a while ago; but, in case you still are wondering about that: If the calories burned number that syncs from Fitbit to SparkPeople includes those workouts, then you should not manually enter that same workout here on SparkPeople. That does result in double counting, which you do not want.

Hi NANFACEMIRE1,

Is it working for you now? I checked your account for the past few days and see your Fitbit has synced steps to us. Usually, if steps are not showing on SparkPeople it is because your Fitbit has not synced to Fitbit's backend system. Your data has to sync and display on Fitbit.com (not just to the Fitbit app) before it can sync to us.

I hope all is good now.

Any suggestions.....
After i first synced my new Fitbit Inspire HR to SP, all worked fine. Now for some reason my steps are not adding to my account or showing on my mobile app. I did the "reauthorize" but that didn't seem to help. On my phone, it just continues to say "syncing".

Hi Everyone!

I was wondering if anyone knew if the calories burned is being doubled on SparkPeople because of duplicate info from my fitbit?

Example. I logged a workout today burning 215 calories directly onto SparkPeople; my All Day Fitbit activity includes that workout and therefore duplicates the calorie burn?

Hi LARRI2010,

The Fitbit connection with SparkPeople is still alive and well. I checked your account and can see we are reaching Fitbit and I can see your steps, etc. there. However, we do not have authorization to sync your activities over to SparkPeople so that is why you are not seeing that data. Please go to this page ( www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/
connect-yo
ur-device.asp
) and click the button to reauthorize the Fitbit connection (don't disconnect it). Be sure to accept all permissions needed--at a minimum, allow profile, device, activities, settings. After you do that, your data should start syncing to us again.

Please give that a try and then let me know if things are not working better for you after about 15 minutes.

Syncing to Fitbit seems to no longer be an option. It shows that my last sync was 7/17. A week or two ago, there was a sync now button, which I clicked. 12 hours later, after nothing happened, I clicked it again, only to get the message that I had already clicked it and that it would sync within 10 minutes. It still hasn't synced.

Today, there is no longer a sync now button. I can't find any information on how to sync nor how to link/unlink Fitbit. It's all gone.

What I DO see is My Fitbit Results page. With no results.

Did Sparkpeople discontinue linking?

My Fitbit One stopped syncing to SP about a week or so ago. I just couldn't figure out what was wrong. I did all on SP that I could find to get it to sync......but it did not. My daughter suggested I Google how to sync Fitbit to Spark People. I did what it said and it put in all of my info correctly. I sure hope this "One" doesn't quit since you can't get it any longer.

Hi DIAMONDWIFE2018,

I see you reconnected SparkPeople to Fitbit. That typically pulls over current data only. I went into your account and manually synced it for the 9th and 10th. You should see that info on your SparkPeople account now.

Hope this helps!

That's a good question. I have android and did it through the SP app but if the app on your phone is having issues then you might need to reach out to SP to see what they reccomend.

How do you unconnect and reconnect? I can't find anything that will let me do that on the SP website, and when I touch the app on my iPhone, it tells me the developer needs to update the app to work with the current version of the iOS. There's no update on the App Store, and no new app to download. Appreciate any hints.

I unconnected my Fitbit from SP and then reconnected it. It took a few tries but eventually that day did show. I'm not sure why SP is having an issue with Fitbit at the moment. Might be from the update that Fitbit did.

My Fitbit is also not syncing to Sparkpeople. Problem started 8/8 midafternoon, and I have been unable to sync since despite repeated attempts. My Fitbit dashboard is up to date, but SP is capturing none of it. Any advice?

I do. I finally got it to synced yesterday's data but not the 9th or 10th and I had data both days.

DIAMONDWIFE2018 - if you log into the Fitbit app or the Fitbit website, do you see your data for those dates there?

Is anyone having issues getting their fitbit to sync to SP? My steps and exercise haven't been logged since 8/9 (even after going to my fitness page and syncing and then going to fitbit details and requesting a sync).

I have a charge 2 fitbit and have tried many of the suggestion on this forum without success. Any tips for me?

I have a Charge 3 and have been very happy with the way that I can use the SparkPeople nutrition tracker and it syncs with the fitbit. However, I am not seeing a way to have the water intake sync, so I have to add it each day to both places. Is there some way that I am missing to have water intake automatically synced (either direction would be fine with me)?
