Amy-----great job for getting it started....
Don't give what everyone else does a second thought...this is YOUR journey...everyone has a diff stride length...
You want to just do this 3 days per week, no consect. days...ok to walk other days.....with the WU the time was about 25 min total...but then a cool down....

keep at it...(sorry if this is short, wanted to get back to you before work...)

I did my Chalean Extreme yesterday..will do it today...running again tomorrow I think..need to look at my blog...LOL

I did the 1st day of the program. (Couch to 5K/Cool Running) Not sure *how* I did- but I did do it! lol
I know you say not to worry about speed, and in the beginning it is more about endurance. BUT I am a little self consience about my speed. Not sure what pace others walk/jog/run at- but for me a real comfortable walking pace is 3 mph (as timed on my treadmill). Normally when I want a brisker pace I walk at 3.2 to 3.3 mph. And when I do occasionally jog for my short stints it is between 4.0 and 4.3.
Recently when talking to a girlfriend I asked her what pace she walks at. She WALKS at 4.0. Guess I am not athletic!
So anyway my normal leisure mile is 20 minutes. Today when I did the program- my pace according to FItBit was 15:47 per mile. (I did 5 minutes warm up, then the alternate jog/walk for minutes 6-25 and then cooled down till I was at 30 minutes). Was I only suppposed to do 20 total (including the warm up?)
My other question is - I normally walk on my treadmill like 5 or 6 times a week. Should I try to do the program every time- or if I do it the 3 times a week is that okay?
Thanks for all your help.

Beth, thank you for the encouraging words and information! I might have to repeat each week 3 times! lol But I guess if I improve my pace and endurance that is the main thing. NOT how long it takes me to get there.
I bookmarked the page and will look it over more carefully on Tuesday (my day off).

Raul, Great Job on your run! I am willing to bet you can do anything you set your mind to! emoticon

Beck- Great Job!! I am really thinking if I was ever able to run a half mile without stopping it would be some kind of miracle!

Great news Beck!
Today I decided to push myself so I ran my usual Saturday route twice! A little over 7 miles! It felt good to run for over an hour and I was truly surprised at how strong I felt at the end. Maybe a half marathon is possible?

Today I...Well actually yesterday I got on my treadmill and ran! For about 45 minutes. I did a progressive playlist that increased BPM (I run to music) and I gradually increased my speed as I went. It felt pretty good. Maybe I'll run today as well!

That picture was at a local fun run. Just 2 miles. I used to do a lot of 5k's and a few HM's thrown in, but I never was a long distance gal. I was fast enough to usually get a ribbon on the short ones, but the farther I go, the slower I get. And yes, all my steps are walking. I work as a janitor, so I rack up 10k just going to work. If you ever look at my fitbit profile page, those big dips are weekends. Its a struggle to keep up my average when I don't work.

I love to run but I also love to just workout! Am getting more and more into lifting weights and love that, too!
Amy, I agree, doing a 5K can be so rewarding. I have thought about training for a half-marathon but I love to run fast so the distance is somewhat daunting. I definitely will pursue it but need to learn to pace myself!
Beck, I am surprised that most of your steps are the walking variety. Everytime I look at your profile picture I imagine you being this long-distance runner. Don't get me wrong, walking is great, in fact I do alot of it at home in the evening just to get my steps in!
Thanks for starting this great topic Beth!

I used to run a lot. Got a fitbit and became a walker. Sometimes I miss it, but it takes a while to build endurance back up, and I haven't done it nearly enough. It comes easier with a goal or motivation, and I haven't got one. Occasionally when on the treadmill I'll kick it up, but that is minutes compared to miles. Only 1 more year until I hit a whole new age bracket. Maybe I should give the old ladies some competition!

Hi Beth! Was looking at your page the other day. Was going to welcome you to the team, and think I got sidetracked. So, a few days late, but emoticon

Walked on my treadmill twice today (total of an hour), at a brisk pace, but have never been much of a jogger/runner. Have thought of starting a couch to 5k program but I am scared of failure.

You look like you have achieved some wonderful things! I see you have done some half marathons! emoticon

What exactly is ChaLean Extreme?

Nice to have ya on the team!
