I enjoyed this workout. I did it twice, despite my band popping in the middle of my second time. I finished up with a pilates stretch band and it was all good.

Wow thanks guys for the thoughts on this. It's good to have confirmation that I need to incorporate a little muscle rest - it means I'll be forced to work more cardio and stretching into my life; no more excuses like "but I already did my exercises today"!

I think the bootcamp will be a great way to get new ideas on how to shake things up.

BTW - I discovered that running the sparkpeople video in one browser window while I have another browser window playing an upbeat radio station (e.g. something on www.lastfm.com) is a great way to put some music behind the video. (Faves for cardio: Pink, Prince, Eminem.)

Hey LARALOYD3Y.

I have always heard/read that it is not good for your muscles to work the same ones everyday. When you do strength training your muscles are actually tearing a little bit (in a sense) so they need a day in between to repair, and that is when you will see results.

This bootcamp does the 3 day rotation, but you could do a 2 day rotation on your own if you felt it wasn't enough. I usually will pair up abs and legs on one day and then do back and arms the next day, and then continue this rotation, But for boot camp I just follow the routine they give us here. I have heard in the past that the core muscles are different, that you can work those more often, but I'm not positive if that is good or not.

Remember you can always do the video's more than once. If time allows I do the video's 3 times (so that it is 3 sets).

I hope this helps. Good luck :)

You can do strength everyday but you really should alternate major muscle groups so do arm work Mon, leg work Tues and you could do arm work again Wed. It is good to allow you muscles the rest, they take that time to feed themselves because building muscle tears the little muscle fibers and the rest allows them to heal if you will which is where your muscles start to look larger. Plus not giving your body a break does increase changes of injury. So maybe you should have a few different routines, to give your major muscle groups some rest! Just think of body builders they surely won't be backing off if they didn't have to and they get their results!

LARALOYD3Y,

It is recommended that you not exercise the same areas every day. The way SP has the bootcamp set up you do a different group every day. So you'll do lower body one day, upper body the next and then core the next day then repeat the sequence. The 7th day is a cardio day so you only do the sequence twice a week.

Hope that answers your question.

Hi Everyone! About to start day 2! :) Day 1 went well and was fun. I did the optional weigh/measure challenge - measured lots of places on my body to see how the shape changes as the month progresses.

The last 2 weeks or so, I have been doing a daily strength routine (wall pushups, squats, calf raises, plank, superman, situps, leg lifts, etc - 15 reps x 2 sets each till my whole body is done, takes about 40 min) which has already done wonders.

I know sparkpeople advises a day of rest in between strength exercises. But I feel like if I skip a day I'm being a slacker and I lose momentum. Is it ok to keep doing those every day? Will I really get better results if I only do them every other day?

Regardless, I still have to get more of the outer layer of jiggle off my body before I can go anywhere near a beach. I really need to be better at getting regular cardio in... So... my goal is to do the bootcamp stuff in addition to what I already do; I want to go backward instead of forward.

Go team go!

Today's video was a good little leg workout. I also added the Hips, Glutes & Thighs, Booty w/Ball, & Core w/Ball workouts. I'll be including 60 min of cardio to top off today's fitness.

The three fruits are almost in - 1/2 pink grapefruit at breakfast, fresh blueberries at lunch, and will have watermelon (slurp) at dinner.

I did today with my weights. I have ankle weights and hand weights do I just used them and concentrated on the move and staying balanced. The workout was ok but i've been doing Jillian Michaels videos so i'm used to a harder workout, but every little bit helps and it's great when you're pressed for time. I also did 60 minutes of cardio and 40 minutes of strength. Good Luck Everyone!

I thought today's workout felt really good. I especially liked the stretch afterward. I did my cardio first thing in the morning, but plan on an extra walk in just little bit. Gotta take the pups for their walk.

Did Day 1 and Day 2 videos yesterday and today. I really enjoyed both. I love the kickboxing (a little clumsy) and I got my first resistance band to use for this and I loved it. I only had trouble keeping it on during one move, had to point my toe more to keep it on. Got 30 minutes cardio done right after.

Wow! I am so stoked about these workouts! Today's wasn't quite as hard as I thought it would be, but I still felt the burn. I even broke a sweat, so it must've been working! LOL I even did the 10-minute cardio one from yesterday again! It was awesome! I hope I can keep this momentum going throughout the whole month!

Oh, and about the resistance bands. I could not find the kind that she has on the video, so I went to 5 Below and they had one that is a circle with two handles. I just stuck one handle on one foot and the other handle on the other foot. It actually freed up my hands for when I lost my balance...and I did! LOL I think it might've worked better than the one she had. Great workout! Can't wait to get my 30 minutes of cardio in tonight!

Good luck everyone! Keep up the good work!

Hi Everyone !!!!
I missed yesterdays boot camp video challenge so I did it today along with day 2. I LOVE the Day 1 video !! I have put it in my favorites and I am going to aim at doing it everyday. By the end of ten 10 minutes, I had sweat rolling down my back. Awesome !!
I also went walking and hiking for an hour today. I might just go for another 2.5 mile walk..
I am having an apple with peanut butter right now and I am making a smoothie later, so I have had my servings of fruit today. emoticon

Oh my gosh, I have handles on the resistance band but I had so much trouble keeping it on my foot! I almost think I did more cardio trying to keep it on.
I did do 60 min. of cardio after though.

I was thinking that if you don't have bands and you have ankle weights they may work for awhile.

Finished the Day 2 workout - yea! Some of you are asking what you can use if you don't have a band - you can use your body weight as resistance - you concentrate on the motion and control the action - I think this is called isometric - isolating the muscle. You can do it even without the band. Keep strong, we will all get there. emoticon

My Lord am I sore, and I am sure I will be tomorrow too. I did the video for today, plus the 20 minute resistance band video sitting on a chair, and then messed up and started doing tomorrows workout, then realized what I had done. I could definately feel the burn in my legs and arms. But it feels good, I have never really worked out with a resistance band so this is good for me to do something new.
Good Luck to you all this week and take care!!!

I really don't care for resistant Bands, I think next time there's a video similar to today's I'll strap on my ankle weights.

Have a great day!

The day 1 kick boxing kicked my but...but Day 2 is a little easier for me, since I do a lot of resistance band work due to my size! Thanks, Coach Nicole!

Well, I did it, with very little modification, the biggest trouble I had was I do not have the resistance bands with handles, but I managed. Now off to do about 45 min cardio on my recumbant bike.

LUCKYSASQUATCH, that DEFINITELY happened to me! In fact, it was the "standing leg" that I felt got the most workout from this exercise, which didn't surprise me, since I really get a lot of leg exercises from all the hiking I do. I think I needed a band with more resistance in order for this to have worked the "working leg" better. That might have taking my mind off how sore the "standing leg" was getting! LOL

I did the Day 2 video twice this morning. I didn't feel like I got that great of a workout. I think that I need to get better resistance bands. I'm a little disappointed. emoticon

Good for you MYTURN. I normally do Jumping Jacks, Squats, Leg Lifts, Knee Lifts in the ladies room when I go. But I haven't been ballsy enough to try the workouts at work at my desk. LOL

I enjoyed today's workout. It was great. I shut the door to my office and, muted the video and went on my merry way for 10 minutes. How cool is that instead of sitting at my computer?

I enjoyed yesterdays and today's workout videos. However; when I clicked to add it, and I also clicked to add it in addition to what I already have scheduled to do, it erased all the strength training I had planned, so now I have to go back and add everything. That's a lot because I do 30 to 40 minutes of strength training on Mon, Wed's, and Fri's. So I am little aggravated.

I enjoyed Day 2 workout! I did it three times in a row. However, I was curious if anyone else experienced this: The outer part of my thigh, just below my bum, on the opposite leg was burning like house on fire. I have a weird little pouch of fat there, so I am glad, but curious if that happened to any of you????

Wag more, bark less!
