Simknot I walk 4.5 to 6.0miles in the park in the morning. Then depending on time I go back in the evening and walk 4.5 mile. Depending on work schedule I walk like this two to three times a week. I love walking. It is fun. My goal is to walk the sixty miles for breast cancer next year.

I f first you don"t succeed brush your self off and try again.

Is there anything OTHER than resistance bands that we will need for this boot camp?

Inspire12 - How do you fit in 4.5 to 9 miles a day in walking? Are you just constantly on the treadmill or walking outside in your free time or are you doing long stretches at once? Great Job on Walking so far. I was just curious.

NGleason, Just get some resistance bands if you can as they are being used for the bootcamp videos. I got mine at Target last weekend.

A lot of us are gearing up early because we are so eager to begin.

No, I'll start on Saturday. My workout schedule is Sunday through Friday, so I take the lighter cardio workout on Saturdays. It works for me.

The creaking should stop as you continue to exercise and your joints get used to moving. As long as it doesn't hurt, there's no need to stop.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to go get some!

Try some simple flexibility exercises to warm up. I yoga in the mornings as a warm up routine. There are some specific for the back that you can look into.

Does anyone have any good exercises for less than flexible shoulders. I did some fairly simple exercises yesterday (lift your arm above your head and back down) and I could hear crunches in them. I stopped as soon as that started but today they are sore!

It will get done. It will get done on time. It will be great.

There are super heavy duty bands, like those made by Jump Stretch, which are used in athletic and weight training.

I haven't seen any of the workouts, I'll be gone on vacation for 2 weeks, the hotel that we are staying has a gym so that will be the only exercise I'll be doing and a lot of walking. I have to catch up when I'm back. Good luck to everyone

ANDRAXIA I see this as something ON TOP OF my regular workout. It already requires cardio and then I am just going to do the video's and challenges on top of my regular work-out.

It will get done. It will get done on time. It will be great.

I didn't realize we were going to need resistance bands. I do have one and hope it will be ok. Otherwise I do have plenty of different weights of dumbells. I won't be able to start until May 6 because DH and I are going on a mini vacation.

CAELAXO, The bands you have might be too long for what you'll be doing in this bootcamp. I believe the Billy Bands are really long so that you can kick with them. You could always try to use them and if they end up being not the right size, you could go out and buy different ones.

SparkPeople does have resistance bands for sale in their online store and they aren't that expensive.

MISSDIANITA,

In the article I believe coach Nicole said that you could substitute weights for some of the workouts and other possible changes until you can get your resistance bands back.

Does anyone have any suggestions what I could use in place of resistance band for the first week and half? I have resistance bands I left with my family on the west coast... and i'll be going back to visit in mid-may. I don't really want to buy equipment if I don't have to. (Especially since I didn't even really use the ones I've left with them!)

Any suggestion is appreciated!

Thanks, D.

Today, I hiked in the mountains 70 minutes for cardio exercise! emoticon

I will be glad when this bootcamp starts because I need to get back to working the strengthening part of it! I did great with the last bootcamp, then slacked up a few weeks ago when I had a bad fall and couldn't walk for a few days.

My DH is opposite of everyone, he gets home from work at 3 PM and runs in 100F heat after work and sometimes works out after that. He has been my biggest motivator and supporter.

I found one in my local sports store. It is adjustable so I can adjust the resistance. It looks really good! I might add some more to the collection in the future.

Your very welcome Zommbie

I like my kit
It comes /w/ a ankle strap so you clip it on & can do leg workouts & it also can be attached to the door.
They range all prices.
I have a heavy duty tubing also which has a plastic bar that the tubing can be attached to & you hook it on the door jam & now i can do lat pulldowns & others.
This one is a good one . I got this as a gift & it was well appreciated.
Then I bought others. I also have pilates bands & you can do exercises /w/ them also.

SP Has a kit, maybe you'd like to check it out.

Lee thanks for the idea about getting a kit. I tried wrapping it around my hand but it was so big that it ended up being bulky and uncomfortable doing that. Sometimes being gravitationally enhanced is a bummer. emoticon emoticon

Zommie,
As long as you have the reciept there should be no problem returning it. If they do give you a problem, tell the person you want to speak to the manager.
But it should be no problem

Make sure, because when you do shoulder presses you need it to reach overhead.
I wrap mine around my hand to give more resistance.
I have all different sizes.
I think it's good to have the kit, because it comes all lengths & strengths.
I have about 8

UGH...I went to buy a resistance band today and I ended up with one that is WAY to big for me. Now I will have to return it (I hope they take it back even though I opened the packaging) AND find another one. Going to try two different shops tomorrow.

It will get done. It will get done on time. It will be great.

My DH is the same. He works all day sitting down answering phones and then he comes homes and sits in front of the tv and he claims he is sooo tired. Yet I wake up 3 hours before he does. I get the kids (3) ready for school, I drive them to school, I go to work (sitting also), I p/u the kids, make them dinner, make sure they bath, wash clothes, p/u the house and then I make sure they have lunch for the next day. I don't go to sleep until 1 a.m. and yet he says I have it easier but his job is so much harder than mine. Then, of course, I am tired but he wants me to be the perfect housewife and pamper him but hey I need help and not expectations. Yet I find time (not a lot) to take care of myself and workout so he should be able to do it also.

Hi ladies,
Mine DH is the same. I think most men are like this.
They clam they work all day & are tired. If they had the work we have to do, then I can really understand how tired they'd be.
Our days all week long is work & if you have kids that's even more & if we have a job also. I did it all & always made time .
So I agree even if they walked for 15 minutes before or after dinner, something is better than nothing.
I don't even say anything no more. I say to him I'm going walking or bike riding. He tells me enjoy!

I worry about him not walking or doing activities.
I guess men are like this, my friends say there DH are the same.

Redhead, I know how frustrating to watch someone you care about being so exhausted they don't want to do anything in the evenings. My DH is the same way. I know if he just got up and did 10 minutes of exercise he'd feel so much better. Ah well. Glad you went for the walk anyway. Great Job!

I have had some birthday and easter junk- so now I am totally back on track! I have a little question, my boyfriend has a very hard day at work and doesn't seem motivated or also extremely tired is more the point, to go on a walk with me in the evening. It is beautiful outside in the evening this time of year, and I miss that. I understand he just can't do it. He is up on the ladder, walking back and forth, and so on all day. It is also a great way to unwind from the hectic day. I just guess I had to vent a little. I do enjoy walking, and will go on anyway. Better bikini body, better me emoticon

I got this from a customer I waited on yesterday. First of all, I work in a pharmacy and as this woman picked up her prescription I noticed she had gummy bears. She was very fit and I said "Oh candy huh? mmmm" and she goes wanna know a little secret? Apparently in Muscle & Fitness magazine there was an article that said if you have 1 serving (measured) of gummy bears immediately after a workout that it gives you the net carbs that your body needs after a workout for fuel. I'm dying to try it as a matter of fact I'm off to get some!

Although, I'm writing REWARD FOR WORKING OUT on them to remind me why they're there. Also, this may help those that struggle with candy cravings.

I would not recommend going against the advice of your doctor. But you could probably do some things sitting on the ball or on the floor which don't put any weight or pressure on your foot.

He just said - no exercise! I have an elliptical at home and have considered putting on a tennis shoe and trying it, just staying more on the ball of my foot. I've been walking on it with pain for 2 months and finally went to the dr.! But I don't want to prolong the healing either. I could probably do some upper body and abs on the ball, don't you think?

It should be five 30 minute cardio sessions. It's probably a typo and should only have been Monday through Friday, although the cardio sessions could be done on any days that work better for you.

Curious- the other bootcamps have been 5 days of cardio, and the article says this one is too.
But, the 7-Day plan overview though shows 30 minutes of cardio Mon through Saturday. Is that a typo or true? I don't mind- just want to know!
Thanks for doing this!!!

Has your doctor given you any kind of guidelines for what you can and can't do? Would you be able to swim? I would suggest indoor cycling, but I'm not sure how that would work with the boot and the pedal. Maybe elliptical or rowing?

I have a fractured heel and will be in a walking boot for 5 more weeks. Any exercise ideas would be a great help!

Because this Team will become very large during the course of the Bootcamp, it's a good idea to keep new posts to a minimum since the Team is so large and there are so many emails. You can post your thoughts about the daily workouts here, or in your SparkPage blog, or both!

Thanks!

Coach Nicole
