I just started using Sparks on my iphone today. One enhancement I would find useful would be to add "Your Daily Goal" and "Remaining Today" under the Totals for the Calories/Carbs/Fat/and Protein tracking. It shows on the web PC version but not on the iphone. The iphone app only shows the totals when tracking your food.

I just started using the iPhone App & I lvoe it!

I will be getting the other service(s) I use and definitely coming back to Sparkpeople now.

The suggestion I would have is to add shopping to the App. Today I have to create my shopping list, then copy to my Google Docs in order to access at the store. Not a deal breaker, but just extra stuff to flip around on.

Thanks for the great app!

I find it gets stuck when I try to enter my food. It will eventually unstick if I just stop, but it can be annoying.

these problems continue, first couple of entries go fine then the app shuts itself off.

I'm having problems with the app closing itself when I am trying to enter my food. I was able to enter most of the day, some in each of the meals, no problem, but then for the additional attempts, it closed itself. Is this a problem for anyone else? It was looking really good until that happened.

I love the update, got rid of the other weight tracking app I was using and got rid of my last excuse not to track my exercise. Great job & Thank you!!! The only additional thing I'd like to see is to be able to see my extra meals.

Just got the update and it looks good. I think I'll be able to do everything I need to while I'm out and away from my computer. The weight graph is a nice touch. I'm glad I can track my workouts at the Y in one easy step! Thanks SparkPeople!!

Just discovered this app and have been playing with it, but it looks like you can't access your food groupings? That would be really helpful to me, as I try to enter as many meals as possible in the groupings catagory. It makes logging in my food very quick after the initial setup. This is going to be very helpful, though.

No excuse for not tracking anymore!

I recently downloaded the App and I LOVE it! FINALLY SP has developed an app to use with the iPhone, I've been waiting for this patiently! :)

Few suggestions:

- On the food tab, have the range of Carbs, Protein and Fat as it is shown at the bottom of MyNutrition page on sparkpeople.com.

- Allow to enter food in GRAMS, I recently noticed that this is NOT an option. I weight everyting in grams, so it makes it difficult to add foods to the app.

- The ability to add food from Food Groupings.

- The ability to show CUSTOM MEALS, I eat 5-7 times a day, and currently the add only shows Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Snack. Let's say I have foods in my custom category, it DOESN'T show those calories on the app.

- Add a weight in button.

- Add a view "Today's Food Report" OR show the % of Carbs, Protein and Fat.

Thanks a bunch SP! If I think of anything else I'll let you know, GREAT JOB with the App so FAR!!!

Don't be fooled by the calendar. There are only as many days in the year as you make use of.

I'm not sure how I missed this until now, but just downloaded the iPhone app...love it. I've been wishing for this app since I got the phone last year, great job.

Being a programmer myself, I know things take time and everything can't be included in the first version.

With that in mind, below are some suggestions:
- Have the home screen display summary information: water count, fruit/veggie count, calories eaten/remaining and any fitness minutes/calories

- A QuickTrack for fruit/veggies like the water one (love the water one)

- An A-Z search interface like in contacts down the right side of the screen to jump to favorite foods starting with a given letter (I have hundreds of favorite foods)

- Ability to add food into custom meals (I eat 5+ times a day)

- Ability to select from my food groupings

- And you already said it is coming, but I'll put my vote in for entering calories for activity

Again, awesome job!

I have a 3G iPhone and it works for me. What happens when you try to use the app that makes you think it doesn't work?

" I have synced the thing 3 times but can't figure out how to get it to sync to my sparkpeople account on the computer. What do I do? It has got to be something simple that I am just overlooking."

All you do is log into the app with your web account name and password and it automatically syncs the two via your phone's wireless phone connection as you enter the info. There is no "syncing" to be done by plugging the phone into your computer. When you log into your computer, the info is already there. And visa versa.

This app is so useful and has helped me keep track while at work. I am a nurse and getting my 1/2hr break for lunch is tough sometimes. So, this quick way of adding my food for the day is EXCELLENT!! Thanks so much for the app!!
I have seen the same suggestions that I was going to make regarding the fitness calories burned. I also think the ability to pick the food off your "favorites" list without having to scroll the entire list would be great. Sometimes I have to enter a food that begins with the letter "z" and that of course means I have to scroll all the way to the end of the favorites list.....

Again, thanks for creating this!! It is a huge help!

I put the mobile sparkpeople on my phone a few months ago, so at first ignored this one. Today I downloaded the version for the iPhone and it works much better than the one described as for mobile phone. Thanks so much.
I am looking forward to the updates some have asked for and you have said are in the works.

I still seem to have issues with freezing when entering in my food. Plus...it is so sloooooow!

I can't wait for the exercise updates!

Losing weight is a little like hiking. If you only look at how big the mountain (or how much you want to lose) is, it becomes overwhelming. But, if instead you look just 5 feet (or 5 pounds) ahead, it isn't quite so hard!

Love the app, or in my case due to technology dumbness the idea of the app. OK I have the phone and it is way smarter than I am. I have synced the thing 3 times but can't figure out how to get it to sync to my sparkpeople account on the computer. What do I do? It has got to be something simple that I am just overlooking.

Love the new app -- I'm using it every day. Thanks!

Two quick requests:

1. Can we get more extensive food searching and creation? I'd like to search foods created by other members, as well as creating custom foods not listed. Without this, I'm often stuck not being able to enter anything for a meal eaten when I'm away from my desktop.

2. How about using the iPhone's camera to take a photo of a meal and save it for reference? This would allow us to remember what we ate and look up any unkown foods when we get home.

Thanks, and keep up the great work.

Pam - I've been using Lose It as well. I just found out there was an application for iPhone. I've only had the phone a few weeks and I'm still learning.

POZEN, I think I also hit your other thread. We definitely want to add calories burned and weight tracking/progress is our next release.

I also want to do a survey of our iPhone users to see what features they would most like to see. Keep an eye out for this in the next few weeks.

Thanks!

Posted this on a different thread.. but this looks like a much better place for the feedback. :o)

Thanks for the App!

Any word on feature updates? There's lots of feedback on iTunes already... but, here's mine:

1. LOVE the interface... very easy to use and intuitive.

2. THANK YOU for making it SO easy to add foods to a favorites list and easily access them later.

3. Would it be possible... instead of having to "log out" to secure my info, to let me assign a 4 digit PIN when logging in via iphone? I don't want everyone who uses my iphone to be able to see my personal data; but I don't want to type in my full username and password each time, either.

4. Why can't we search fitness like we can foods? I'd like to be able to see the calories burned BEFORE adding it... (I see this is coming?)

5. And, this is my make-it-or break-it request: Until there is weight tracking and progress reporting through the iPhone I will continue to use "Lose it!" as my primary calorie tracker. For food tracking, the SP app is SO much better... and I LOVE the idea of it interfacing with my SP account... but, the App on my iPhone would be my primary calorie, activity and progress tracker... so it would need to be full featured... and, I'd pay for it. See Lose it!'s Reporting or MyNetDiary for great reporting interfaces... (looks like this is coming too!)

6. I would LOVE to be able to use this App while NOT connected to the internet and have the ability to sync after-the-fact. I use the OmniFocus iPhone app that allows for this feature.

THANK YOU for the App! I look forward to future updates!

Pam

I just realized that the app was out today and immediately downloaded, of course:)

After a quick look around, I've noticed a few things (sorry if you're already working on them!)

-A place to enter weigh in data
-ability to enter calories for exercise.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111

I have the app and have played with it since you announced it. I still prefer to log my food into Lose It on the phone because I can see my nutrient tracking and see my calories remaining and have my weight tracking. Their food list is terrible though. Ugh. But I just get close and it's good enough for me for now.

I log my water and fitness into the Spark app though because I do not like how Lose It subtracts the calories burned from the calories eaten to show my calories remaining for the day.

However, I hate hate hate that I do not have my favorites list of fitness items and have to type them in every day. This is crazy.

Good start but it has a long way to go before it is my only tracking app on my phone.

Not sure if something was going on this weekend, but every time I tried to enter in food I got kicked out of the app.

Waytago on the new app! It's SOOOO much better than the mobile website!

One lil suggestion, if it's at all possible in the future, could you add the ability to add custom foods on it? I tried to enter a cinnamon raisin muffin, and it said 68 cals, and the muffin is actually around the 140s - that's a big difference.

Of course, I know the app is new, and that you guys are working on it still - I expect it will just get better.

I LOVE the water graphic! lol - it's fun to fill up the glass. (I know - simple things, LOL)

GREAT job! Woohoo!

YAY! Thanks you guys!! Not just for this but for all of the work you've done with the site over the last year and a half. It's so much easier to use since I first started, and the app is just another great thing!!

My only suggestion is to make it possible to enter grams (of food) on the app. I still can always use the mobile website, but just a suggestion ;)
The app alone is going to save me tons of time!!

Wooo weee!!!

Make sure you have the latest software on your iPhone before you try to download it otherwise it will prompt you to do so.

I'm playing around with it right now and I love it! Only problem so far is that my Fitness wasn't enabled and when I tried, it kicked me out of the app. But when I went back in, I was able to log my fitness.

Did I mention how much this rocks?
