Ohh man, 2020 is almost here. Good luck with the clean eating!!

I've been working on my 2020 goals. One of them is going to be better meal planning. I was good at it once, but kinda forgot how at some point.... So now I just buy things and try to get meals out of them. It is kinda ridiculous. Also with meal planning it is easier to get in more veggies since they aren't an after thought.

Yard looks so different without the trees. We got 7 taken out. Hope to do more next fall. It is going to make spring/fall clean up so much easier.

The new year is right around the corner. Is anyone making changes to their normal workout and eating routine?

I'm going to try clean eating. Allowing one day a week for a "cheat" day. I love veggies so adding more to my diet shouldn't be to difficult. The hardest part will be the snacks and lowering my fat intake. I've been trying but failing miserably which is why I'm trying the clean eating route. I've already I've already talked to the hubby about it and he is supportive. We may just be eating different things for a while. He has to lower his salt intake to that makes it a little easier on his end.

Hope everyone is doing well this holiday season. Merry Christmas and good luck with your own future plans.

No :(. I am so sorry about the migraine. They make life much harder. I am glad you had a safe place to be both days.

I find having trees removed to be interesting. It really does change the feel of the property.

I have been having a rough time getting in weight training, so this morning I downloaded an app called Workout Alerts. Randomly throughout the day it will give me an alert and tell me to do a random exercise. So far today it was 10-20 pushups. Since i had the time i went ahead and did 4 sets of 10-20 to make it more worth my while. Not sure how I will like it in the long run.

Rough day yesterday. Migraine from hell and I couldn't be home to take meds and sleep in a nice dark room until later in the afternoon. We are getting some trees take out and my husband didn't want me home (he's a big worrier) while they were taking the big oaks by the house out. So I hung out at his office with a headache that was progressively getting worse and worse until it developed into a migraine.

Luckily today I thought ahead and am going to my daughter-in-laws for the day. I'm happy to finally be getting these trees out but it puts a crimp in my schedule. No steps or workout. It's too cold and snowy to go outside so it's another day of sitting on my butt for me.

Welcome home! It's so hard to keep a routine when you are away from home. I'm glad you can get back to a more normal routine. As a big creature of habit myself I understand how hard it is when you are away from home.

I am FINALLY home and it feels good, but I have so much to do. All of my clothes are in the process of being washed and put away. The dogs that were at my Aunt's home got into everything of mine and I am so allergic and they wouldn't remove the dogs and I had to take care of them as well as my Aunt.

I am getting some workouts in between the laundry and sparking too. I no longer have the stress of being at my Aunt's house and taking care of everything and I feel drained as all of the stress is leaving my system. Sometimes I want it to all go away at once but if that happened I do believe I would be in the bed for about a week, so little by little is okay with me.

While I was taking care of my Aunt, I didn't get as much exercise as I usually do and it feels wonderful to get back in the groove, so to speak.

I AM HOME!!!!!

Sorry you aren't in loving to workout mode, but keep at it. You will get your mojo back!

I am doing okay. Working out is making me tired though. The harder I work out the tired-er I get. Then the more time I spend being non-active the rest of the day. I've never really found a good balance for this. I like to workout first thing in the morning to make sure it gets done, but then I am tired the rest of the day. If I want until evening, I am more likely to miss a workout all together.

I haven't posted here in a while thought it would be good to check in and see how everyone is doing?

I've been up and down. My anxiety has been up and down causing my workouts to be up and down. Causing my weight to be up and down. Basically causing my life to be up and down.

I've been getting outside to walk more instead of workouts on my elliptical. The weather has been great for getting outside I have a hard time in the heat so cooler temps (60's) have been nice. I just wish I could get back into my loving to workout mode again.

Good luck with your treatments Nancy Jean. That is some heavy stuff but you can do it!! We will be here rooting for you!!

Lakendal - busyness really does through wrench in plans. I knew someone had to make those surveys, but I didn't know who. I actually like being called to jury duty (it has happened twice). I hope that if I am ever on trial, someone like me will be on the jury, so I try to do that for others.

As for me, the church needed my help this week, so a big chunk of my time is being spent there. I get to answer the phones yah :). I've also been trying to cut calories, but my migraines really hate that. Still working on balance - forever a work in progress.

I am way off kilter and have ended up taking a detour. I am waiting for news of me going to St. Petersberg, FL to a VA facility that specializes in PTSD and MST. I will be an inpatient there for however long it takes for me to be the best that I can be. My PTSD has never been to the point where I was ready to put a man down on the ground but it was last week. A friend of mine told me that it's a good thing because I have been in flight all of these years but now I am in the fight mode of not letting someone beat me again or worse.

After I get done with my treatment there I will be going to the Atlanta VA hospital because they are taking all the hardware out of my right leg after all of these years and I am very excited about that. Of course, I will be off of that leg for at least two months but it's worth it to get this stainless steel out of my leg.

Really, all is well and God is just making this temple of his BETTER than it was before!!!!

My normal "routine" is off again. Between being on the jury board and ball games for the grandkids I haven't spent much time at home. Housework and workouts have been slacking. I'm trying to catch up on everything today. Tomorrow the hubby and I are heading up north to Mackinaw City (Michigan) for the weekend. We are also planning on going to the upper peninsula to a place called Oswald bear Farm. It is a bear rescue and habitat that you can visit. We will probably also hit Tahquamenon Falls which means I will get a lot of steps / stairs in which is good because I've been sitting most of the week at my jury board job.

How is everyone else doing?

Hey LAKENDAL,

Thanks for checking in. I've been doing good in the getting stuff done department, but slacking at some of the others.

I'm doing my bike challenge so I am getting my cardio up, which is good.
I also try to get in some strength training, though I am not too consistent.

I too am struggling with food. I am finding that if my cut my calories I wake up either super hungry are 130am or super hungry with a migraine. If I then eat something (like a peanut butter sandwich) then i am no longer hungry and my migraine clears up. It is so weird. So, still a work in progress. I like to think, someday, I will find balance :). I am hoping the increased calorie burn with the bike riding will shed some light one way or another.

I used to live in Panama before they kicked the military out and we had to give them back the land that we paid for along with the locks. In fact, that was the sadist day when I had to stand in formation as the American flag was taken down from the place of honor and the Panamanian flag was put in its place on the military post. I cried standing at attention in that formation. I even stood on top of one of the locks but when my company commander wanted me to re-enlist standing on the locks I told him no way because it would be just like him to open up the locks and down in the ocean I would go!!!

I know what you mean about the locks, I live in Michigan and Sault Ste Marie Marie is only a couple hours away and we've done the loc tour there. I can't imagine what it would be like o see it on the scale of Panama.

I wouldn't mind doing another 30 day challenge. I was doing great the first 2 weeks of this one but have faltered a lot. I actually saved a couple more that I wanted to try.

I like the 22 minute one but normally I work out longer than that.

Hmm, not sure how to rotate the picture, it was correct on my computer...


Anyway- I've been thinking about March, maybe I am ready for spring :), or thinking forward to new challenges. Originally I was thinking the about that was it 30 minute challenge I found... or was it 22 minute, I'll have to see what I did with that post (I know I brought it up somewhere on here....). But I also really like the 30 day pick your own challenge, even if i am currently struggling with my Feb challenge.

What are your thoughts?

I'm back! Got a couple of good workouts in and Tuesday night was dinner and dancing so I was able to get a bonus workout in. I didn't do the best as far as food goes but I did do better than I usually do. Dinners were an issue and I stayed away from dessert until the formal dinner Tuesday night. It was cheesecake. I can't say no to cheesecake.

Good news is I got home and weighed myself this morning and there was no weight gain. I weigh exactly the same.

To answer your question there's a lot of spouses but most of them are men and don't workout. Another female spouse showed up at the fitness center right as I was finishing up on the treadmill. So I stayed a little longer and got almost 20 more minutes in.

I'm glad to be home and back to my normal routine. Although when we got home we had to shovel about 10 inches of show from the walkway and front deck to get into the house. I guess that counted as my "workout" for yesterday.

I've been doing so good the last couple of months with working out and staying within my calorie range (most of the time). Now it's time for conference with with husband. We go to two of these a year. One in the summer and one in the winter. I always struggle with food and drink (there's an open bar) and I usually always gain weight.
I'm hoping to do better this time. I'm not sure if there's a workout room at the place we are staying so I'm packing my 5 pound weights and I've done the walking workouts on YouTube enough that I can do different moves and still get a workout in. My goal is a 300 plus calorie burn while we are gone.
You probably won't hear from me much until we get back on Wednesday. I'll sort of check in but I'll just have my phone. It's harder to do the spark thing on my phone. I'm just hoping for a good weigh in on Thursday with no gain. This would be easier if it were summer conference because I have a walking buddy during summer conference but she doesn't come to winter conference.
Special prayers that I can find another spouse to workout with.....done with my daily rambling on and on.

I love water! I never join water challenges because they are not a challenge for me. On a low day I'm at the recommended 8 glasses.

I did alright for the week. Weekend was a bust.

We are getting closer to finishing the coast to coast challenge. I'll be getting the Appalachian Trail one together so it is ready to go after we "arrive" in New York.

This was a rough week for me on the BINGO challenge. I am so glad I am a water drinker!

Hopefully this week will shape up. I have some soup I am making today for lunches this week, that should help.

My back is giving me some issues, so working out is light (if at all) until I am back being upright without pain.

I was kind of lazy yesterday. I'm hoping to be more active and knock more stuff off my to do list today. I really wanted to get outside for a walk but with the windchill it was in the single digits. That's just too cold. Plus my road is an ice rink. It's only January and spring can't get here quick enough. Which in Northern Michigan is a long way off.

I use to be more like that, but now my job is much for sedentary. All I want to do is eat and be lazy. At home I would randomly do mini workouts or plan better foods. Not being stuck to a microwave is also nice while at home.

I'm the opposite I do better during the week. I'm not working so I'm more productive when it's just me at home.
Plus I workout which makes me eat better. Weekends my hubby is home. He try's to be supportive but when he's home I eat more things I shouldn't eat. My weight is usually up on Monday's and down on Friday's. I think things will get better in the spring when I can get outside and make him go on walks with me.

I understand. I want chips. Munchos to be exact. I'm trying to stay away from chips until I go to a conference with my hubby at the end of the month. I'm sure there will be chips there so my goal is to hold off until then.

I'm doing good so far on the bingo challenge. Calories are spot on and I never have problems with my water intake.

Still need to meet my goal of strength training. I'm making that my goal for today. I think I'll concentrate on upper body.

Since we have several new challenges starting up. I thought it would be good to have a nice clean place to discuss them.

Right now we have the New Year New You Goal Setting and the January 2019 Bingo Challenge that have just started up. Please pop on over and join them, if you like.

We are wrapping up the Coast to Coast trip across the US as well, so if you want to help us wrap that up, we are so close! After that, we are on to the Appalachian Trail.

Personally, I am pretty excited about the challenges, they give me a little extra motivation push!
