I have been strength training since January 2010 and it is my preferred form of exercise especially being a post menopausal 62 year young woman. Too much cardio eats up muscle and does very little to sculpt the body(create fat loss, build muscle) for the more mature woman or for any aged woman.

Strength training with "challenging" resistance at least 2 days per week is good but 3 days per week is optimal. You want to make sure to work muscles in the legs, chest, back, and shoulders using compound exercises.

You can do weight training whenever you'd like. Two times a week is ideal. Do it at you own pace. Your body will tell you when your limit is. Can't wait to hear about your journey!

Thank you! I went in thinking, "I am about to do the dang thing! I've lifted weights before. I got this!!!". Ummmm Yea... Lol. About 10 minutes in, I realized my muscle memory needs to do some catching up. Lol. I will take it slow. I am going to take a break tomorrow and give it another go on Monday.

Thanks for the reply! I think I am going to start Julian Michaels' 30-day shred today. It looks like strength training that would be good for me because it's not too hardcore. I have lifted weights before but that was a long time ago. Lol.

I am at the beginning of my weight loss journey and I have a loooooong ways to go. Lol. Would you all suggest I begin incorporating weight training into my current cardio routine or wait until I get a little closer to my goal?
