Quick drive-by on my way to do some more work on the newsletter, and to tuck all you lovely ladies in for the night. Got quite a bit done this afternoon, so that was good.

Sunny, I hope your appointment went well today, and was glad to read you are feeling better.

Thiry, I really hope your brother gets the help he needs and deserves! I'd love to see your lawyer go after your head office there! They deserve everything they will get too!

Barb, guess no news yet, but they are keeping in touch so that is good.

Kelly, hope you had some fun these last few days - I do remember you were crawling into jammies early last night.

The weather here was really nice today - sunny and in the 70s.

Well, I'm off to work on the newsletter. Sleep tight and sweet dreams!!! See ya in the morning!

BARB – yes, I am definitely worried about what she might do and the consequences of those actions. I hope I am wrong on that. While I was talking to his Saturday afternoon, I mentioned to him about contacting JAG. He looked at me kind of funny, but I told him to make sure and do it since he is retired military, they should help him. I am wondering if he didn’t show them enough of the pictures and of course he couldn’t leave the voice messages with them so I’m wondering if he had transcripts of some of that if it wouldn’t have made a difference. Your take on our management company being a POS is putting it mildly from what I have been thinking about them. Glad to hear that you got a chance to visit with Clara. Good to hear that Clara is learning that she needs to speak up for herself and pray that she manages to get to the point where she can actually do that. We haven’t had any snow here yet, but the temperature has been getting into the low 30’s at night and only getting into the upper 40’s or lower 50’s during the day. Sorry to hear about Clara getting a divorce. I do hate to say it but I believe all of us had the feeling that this marriage wouldn’t last when we found out who she married, but it is sad to hear that she is going through all of this stuff but she is much better off without him.

KELLY – yes, I am very upset that the judge turned down the restraining order. He has pictures and video of the neighbor and her niece messing around his trailer and the voicemails where she is telling him she “wishes he was dead and the he should pack his stuff and move to Omaha near his f…ing sisters”. I have a feeling that he didn’t leave enough of the documentation with them when he filed the paperwork as he is really being affected by the stress of all the crap she is pulling and it is affecting his memory. He didn’t get to look at the new rental as there was a long line and his back bothering him from stuff that he had been doing earlier in the day and didn’t feel like he would be able to stand in line to get his chance to get to the point of looking at the rental.

SHARON – yes, I am doing what I can and letting them know my thoughts on their actions regarding the tub and things they have/haven’t done on that situation. I agree that my brother’s situation seems dire and praying that he can find a place and get out of there. Oh, chicken pot pie sounds really good right now. I will have to get over to check out the recipe.

SUNNY – glad to hear that you took a day to rest. It sounds nice to be wrapped up in a blanked and just relaxing. Nice that you had a good time with your DIL checking out the wineries, that’s my kind of day. Right now, the repair man won’t even be here to look at the tub until 10/28, another 8 days from now. I do have a contract job lined up that should start sometime in the next couple weeks. They will be providing me with a computer and firewall to safely get into the website I will need to get to in order to do the job. I will be working from home, so I won’t have to worry about traffic or weather to get to work. Also, I won’t be spending money on gas, wear and tear on the car as well as not needing to have dress clothes for work and not worry about going to get lunch while I am at work. You are correct that purchasing groceries on-line will help keep one from impulse buying. Sorry to hear that you weren’t feeling well and glad to hear that you are feeling better. Hope all went well at your mammogram.

Saturday afternoon while we were working on things and getting ready to get some food before heading to Lincoln for the music show we were going to that night my sister called asking what time we were heading to Lincoln. She then told me that our brother was trying to move his security cameras which involved going up and down the ladder and that his back was hurting. After talking to DH, I took a quick shower, we got gas in the car, picked up the mail then headed to Lincoln. By the time we got there he had just finished moving and adjusting the cameras. We talked with him for a while and he played a bunch of the voice mail messages and showed me pictures/video from the security cameras of the neighbor’s niece messing around his trailer. A couple of his neighbors stopped over and we all talked for a while before DH and I left to get some supper and head to the program we were going to that evening. While we all were talking, they were saying that the neighbor was gone for a week as “she is so stressed she wanted to kill herself”. I won’t even put down my thoughts on that. Sunday evening my sister called and said that she was back already. Tonight, she called again and was telling me that the neighbor was accusing my brother of stealing a cement block but the maintenance man told her that since the cement block was sitting somewhere is shouldn’t have been he took it. He also told her that her padlock that she was accusing my brother of stealing was laying not too far away from where they were at. I guess the “court” has told her she needs to be getting some of the garbage she has laying around cleaned up. It sounds like the “court” has finally figured out some of the crap she is pulling and confronting her about it, PTL.

I received a call from our attorney from the call I put in last Friday. I told him about the bathtub situation and he said that he just can’t imaging what we could be doing that they would be considering abuse to the tub short of DH putting spikes on his feet, getting in the tub and doing jumping jacks. He also said that if they do try to bill us for the work on the tub to forward the bill to him and he would take it from there. Our maintenance man finally replaced the broken toilet seat today. When he took the old one off, I mentioned using the rag next to the toilet to clean off the area before putting the new seat on. He said if I wanted to do that I could as he “doesn’t do any cleaning”. He moved off to the side and I took the rag and wiped off the area then he put the new seat on then picked up the old seat and the box then left.

Yesterday I received a call from DIL as she wanted to apologize for not getting the phone bill payment to us, they now owe a little more that 2 months. She was telling me that they have been really stressed as someone turned them in to DSS and the girls spent a week in Blair with the other grandmother. They were turned in for the condition of their house, I’m kind of surprised it hadn’t happened sooner from the condition of the house at some of the birthday parties they have had. In addition to the condition of the house the girls got out and down the street to one of the neighbor’s houses. She said that when the social worker came to the door. they felt she looked tired. DIL deals with fibromyalgia so she said she is always tired. The week the girls were out of the house they had a friend that works as a social worker help them to get done what they needed to do to be able to get the girls back. They spend a lot of time the week that the girls were with their grandmother driving to and from Blair getting food and taking it up to eat with the kids. I am actually really surprised that DSS allowed the girls to stay with that grandmother as the one time I was at her house, a few years ago when the kids still lived in Pennsylvania and were back visiting, the house was a real mess with food laying all over the place and getting moldy, the bathroom sink didn’t work and stuff laying all over the place, not much better than what the kids house looks like. The have the girls back now but I know they are going to have to make it a point of keeping the house cleaned up and making sure that the girls are dressed properly and not outside alone.

DH and I spent part of Sunday working on trying to finish cleaning up the stuff that we started to sort a couple weeks ago and hadn’t gotten back to it. We got most of that stuff sorted and organized then I started going through the bags that he has all his tools, nuts, bolts, screws and other misc. items in. it was during that when Bubbles decided to sleep in one of the bags. After he got out and was walking around the room, I noticed that he had red spots on his back left and butt area. At first I was thinking he might be bleeding but then realized that the bag Bubbles had been sleeping in was the bag that DH had a plastic bag with a chalk line in it and that some of the chalk was still in the bottom of the bag and that was what was all over him. Needless to say, since we can’t use the bathtub, we can’t try washing him to get it off, so it is going to have to wear off.

I need to get back to working with my pork and getting it cooled, put into bowls and work it into the freezer. Good night all.

Have a great week.
Thiry

Tuesday: Well, still wrapping my brain around Clara’s news. BUT it really is for the best. Sadly.

The sun did come out for awhile yesterday. Then the afternoon was cloudy, but no more precipitation.

Hope you have a wonderful Tuesday.

HUGS

Kelly: Thanks, I definitely hadn’t thought about passwords. I will text her that now!

Supposed to be warmer tomorrow, then back to the 40’s for highs the rest of the week. And rain/snow.

That is definitely a perk shopping early . . . the produce is not picked over. Meats . . . perfectly good meat is discounted because it is @ the expire date. Just have to use it that day or freeze.

Sharon: All I can say is, Clara’s news didn’t come as a surprise, really. So, able to be a little more ‘rational’ about things. The lawyer is a godsend. He is a pitbull and a lamb all rolled into one. Perfect. Don’t cross him!!! Sooooo . . . we know she has good representation. She may not even have to go through a divorce, but rather an annulment as they’ve only been married a month. **SIGH** Good riddance to the jerk as far as I am concerned (oops . . . editorial opinion popped up there). She knows we’re here to support her and our utmost priority is her and her safety. That’s where the lawyer is coming from, too.

Good luck w/the newsletter.

Sunny: Sorry about your GI distress, but glad Pepto to the rescue.

Good luck w/the mammogram.

Yes, Clara did move farther away . . . she lives about 20 minutes away. Not terribly far. Yes, it is definitely painful for her, to be sure.

Thiry, Tika, Marsha: Hope all is well.

HUGS and prayers for our soldiers, families, country and 1st responders.

See y’all @ 3 pm.

Good morning, ladies! Just checking in early. Feeling better this morning. I developed some GI problems yesterday afternoon. Ugh...but I do feel better today so moving forward with my mammogram today. I did not go to Bible Study and sure glad I didn't but I can now say that Pepto is my friend. hehehe

Barb, does Clara live close? For some reason, I thought she had moved away. I sure don't know where that thought came from. I am glad she has you to lean on. No matter the circumstances of the divorce, it is still a difficult and painful process. Bless her heart.

I am going to try the recipe soon. I did order some chicken so I will let you know. I love the posts and look forward to trying them.

I am off to the shower soon. I will check in when I get home. Hugs to you all.

Bed check and time for lights out. . .

Glad to see we're almost all here.

Barb I am so very sorry to hear about Clara. I commend you on your strength since you received "the news". I'm not sure I would have been able to do what you have done. I'm sure you both gave her some good advice, and nice that the lawyer chimed in about finances, and everything else she needs to protect. I too will be sending her strength and resilience energy.

Nice that you got out with your DIL over the weekend, Sunny for some much needed "fresh air and fresh perspective". We have almost always found the smaller wineries have some of the the best wine, and the friendliest staff. We like them because of that, and a chance to chill if we want. Also, their prices for tastings are more reasonable, too. Nice to support them during these trying times for small businesses.

If you all try the revised chicken pot pie recipe, I'd love to hear your thoughts . . .
Leftovers for us tomorrow night. Yes!

Well, off to work on the newsletter a little more before bed. Sleep tight and sweet dreams to one and all! emoticon emoticon

Sharon your recipe revised or otherwise I am sure will be a go to for a cold winter day(s) of prep and sitting in front of the oven with spoons to eat right out of the pan! Love the idea of using a baking dish, I've done pot pies (but nothing like yours for sure) that way but not in that size. I think I have one that size somewhere. Apple cider vinegar is good for you anyway and I always wondered about using vermouth (which I do often) being different and you answered that. Thank you, as always, for taking the time to edumacate us in the kitchen. I think pot pie will be a project very very soon though.

Oh Barb I am sorry to hear about Clara. I am glad she was told about her finances, remind her to change her passwords to everything first too. Sending her hugs and strength.

Glad you got out over the weekend Sunny. Sometimes the least crowded wineries have the best. I have tried the pick up, even before all this, I go so early in the morning that I feel okay with shopping although I found I got really nice produce so I may give it a go more often for the big grocery days.

It is warming up for the week, crazy weather and not sure if we'll even get wet. Nothing new or interesting around here so let's go get in our jammies.

Hugs and Prayers!

Kelly

So sorry to hear that Barb. Bless Clara's heart. I am just so thankful she came to talk to you about the situation. Praying for the best Barb. Do keep us posted.

Cold Monday here but I think I will get out to the Bible Study. Don't always want to get out but am OK once I get there.

Shopped on line at my local HyVee today and will pick up my order tomorrow after my mammogram. Shopping this way does keep one from the "impulse buys". hehehe

Have a good evening.

Monday: Looks like rain . . . a little . . . mixed with . . . *S* Still cold, but it’s that time of the year. The temps are supposed to reach near 60 on Thursday, but then right back into the 40’s. Hmmm. . . . the sun came out. That’s an improvement!

Plan to check in w/the surgeon again this afternoon. HOPEFUL we’ll have some information, but . . . won’t hold my breath. Left a message.

Got a call from DD. *SIGH* She is on the path to divorce. While I didn’t say so, it is no surprise, and I think it’s for the best. She has to be done w/him once and for all. I think she’s there. Gave her the name of our atty. and she did call. Called us back to tell us the advice she was given (all good) and is going to take care of finances today. Steps in the right direction. Sad. But he just is not a good person.

I wish you all a motivated Monday!

HUGS

Sharon: Wow! Looks like a great recipe. LOVE the apple cider vinegar tip. I read that and have used it the last 2 times I’ve made bone broth. Excellent!

I love having several containers of chicken bone broth in the freezer to use when I want it.

The sn decided to come out for awhile here. But looks like it’s gone now again. BUT no more precip.

Good Monday morning ladies.

I just finished typing and posting my "revised" Autumn Chicken Pot Pie recipe on the What's Cookin' board. This version was done over 2 days - stock and "prep" done on day 1, and assembly and cooking on day 2. I have to say, in all honesty, it was most definitely worth it!
The flavors were much richer, and much more developed. Don't be discouraged by the "length" of my written recipe. It's very detailed, and basically step-by-step instructions for you.
Plus, you're not doing everything in one day.
Barb, if you'd like to make and freeze, I'd do it in heavy duty aluminum baking pan, and double wrap without the puff pastry, in double layer of heavy-duty aluminum foil. Place on baking sheet in freezer for 24 hours, and the it will be frozen solid so you can remove the baking sheet. When ready to cook, and partially thawed, remove foil wrapping, place on baking sheet again to cook in oven.

Kinda sunny here, actually partly cloudy, but no rain. Slightly warmer than the weekend.

Hope everyone had a nice weekend. I DEFINITELY have to work on the newsletter today!

Will catch you later around 6 my time for sumthin' - or maybe more - depending on how it goes!

Sharon: OHhh, will head to What’s Cooking to see that recipe!

Sunny: Yes, today (and yesterday) were days that I could have stayed wrapped in a blanket, too. But . . . braved it and didn’t!

Our Aldis is closed for remodeling too! I was surprised. But we’ll see what it looks like when it’s completed.

Oh, Clara looked good. I think she’s learning that she is going to have to speak up for herself. Anyhow, she seemed calm and much happier yesterday. I was pleased.

I sure do hope to hear about Jas’ treatment plan for the thyroid this week, but am pretty resigned to the fact that we’re going to have to go back up another time for the thyroid procedure. But I’ll keep you guys updated.

Sounds like you and DIL had a good time wine tasting.

Good luck w/your grocery pick up. Hope it goes well.

HUGS

I went back to page 4 and was pleasantly surprised to find the Orange Cranberry quick bread. I had been looking for that recipe. I made it when you first posted it and wanted to make it again.

The pot pie sounds delish. I know your friend is going to love it! Makes me wish I lived closer. hehehe

I am just stopping in and saying Hi. Looks like everyone has had a nice weekend. Snow flurries? Say it isn't so.... I have been wrapped up in my blanket today and have resolved to stay there until Spring! Ugh.

It was a nice day in St. Louis yesterday. DIL wanted to go to a couple of wineries so we set out after lunch, leaving the guys home to watch football. The Wineries were packed and we found out there was a Wine Festival yesterday. Well, duh. We did finally end up at one winery that wasn't too busy and we did a tasting. Stopped at her local Aldi's as they recently just opened after being closed for a remodeling. It was very nice. Home early and to bed early. All in all, it was good to be with family.

Thiry, I do hope you get the situation with the tub fixed and I hope/pray you get a new job soon that will enable you to move out of that place. Ugh...

Barb, Clara visited? How is married life for her? Do keep us posted on the news from Mayo this week. Praying for the best!!

Sharon, I will check out your recipe. I need something new/exciting for fall. I am making Taco's Al Pastor in the Crock pot tomorrow. I picked up corn tortillas, green onions, and cilantro at the Aldi's yesterday so that stop was productive.

Hi Kelly, glad you had a nice day. I really enjoyed it and today - low 40's here and a cold rain. Ugh... I am not ready for this.

Going to shop on the computer tomorrow at my local HyVee and schedule a pick up. No delivery out here in the country but at least they offer the other service.

Take care team and I will see you tomorrow. Hugs, Sunny

I posted the recipe on the What's Cookin' board the first time I made it.
It's on page 4 about halfway down. It's soooo good, and comforting.
After Ina, Anne is my second favorite chef. Everything of hers I've tried has been outstanding, too! Am making a pie plate version to take tomorrow to my best friend.

Sunday blessings to one and all. . .

Checking in really quickly because I am making an Autumnal Chicken Pot Pie. Made the stock yesterday, and am making the gravy right now and waiting for it to reduce. Then I'll mix everything together and let it sit on the counter until I add the puffed pastry top, and put it in the oven.

Not much else going on thank goodness. Looking forward to a true welcome to fall comfort meal.

Barb nice that you and Clara had a face to face. I hope that made you feel better.

I hope you all are enjoying a nice Sunday afternoon. Will check back in later tonight.
Enjoy the rest of your day. emoticon

Sunday: Had a wonderful, but short visit w/Clara yesterday. We sat in the garage (and it was COLD!) but we were bundled up. She looked good and seems like the problems are ironed out for now. I think it will be a continual process, but she’ll learn that, too.

Same gunky weather today. OH well.

HUGS and blessings.

Sharon: I am hoping, too, that both procedures can be done @ once. HARD to wait, but the surgeon did reassure us that the radiologists are still reviewing things. So . . . more waiting.

Hope you got a good rest!

Kelly, Sunny, Tika, Thiry, Marsha: Have a good Sunday.

Quick drive-by for lights out . . .

Sorry you all had flurries already! Yes, Fall still has to put on her Sunday best for us I hope.
Cooler here, but still manageable.

Thiry, glad you are taking the bull by the horns and getting your management comp nay off their duff to fix your bathtub! Your brother's situation sounds dire. I hope that other rental works for him so he can get the heck outta dodge!

Sorry to read Barb that you are still waiting for an answer. Hopefully they are still working out a plan to do both back to back or at once - just want to make ti efficient and the best it can be. Brunch sounds delicious!!

Off to crawl into my own bed as I am one tired puppy tonight. Sweet dreams ladies!

Quick drive by to say Hi and hope today's weather where you are is as nice as ours ended up. We had frost overnight (Barb, sorry about your flurries) but it warmed up nicely and too nice to be indoors. Hard today to find a spot to not be in a crowd though. Oh well fresh air is fresh air.

Thiry, that is maddening that the judge turned down the restraining order and I do not understand why the police are not stepping in especially with this latest attempt. Maybe call the fire department and ask if there is anything they can suggest? I do hope the new rental works out, that manager is looking for a way to get him out can not help but wonder what the dingbat has on them that she isn't the one leaving. Hugs to all of you.

I likely won't get back on until tomorrow so hope everyone has a great evening.

Hugs and Prayers to our military and our first responders.

Saturday: Zoom breakfast this morning. Crepes w/berry compote and whipped cream (yeah, living la vida loca).

Cold here again today. And drizzly, rain, and . . . darn snow flakes! NOOOooo.

HUGS and have a good Saturday.

Thiry: Your thought is exactly like mine. The fact that neighbor blocked your brother’s exit from the trailer is a HUGE red flag to me. Made me think of exactly the same thing – is she planning a fire or something else? I HOPE he gets legal help! It’s beyond time.

OH, read further in your post and see your brother DID apply for a restraining order. GOOD LORD! The judge denied it?????????

Yes, still waiting for an answer, but have pretty much resigned to the fact that I do not think the 2 procedures will be done in the same visit. The spinal surgery, @ this point, has to be done for him to get return of hand function totally. So . . . guess we probably will have to make a 2nd trip for the thyroid procedure. The good part of that is the 2 radiologists being consulted are tops in their field, and that’s why the endocrinologist consulted w/them. And now the wood fiasco. I HOPE your brother finds that the place he checks out to rent works. Fingers crossed.

That management company is a POS (YOU can figure out what that is, I am sure)! Good grief. They are intentionally being horrible. I hope that you can find another place to live when you start this contract position. Has to be better than where you’re at for sure! So sorry.

That’s good that you were able to talk w/your minister. That helps.

Kelly, Sharon, Sunny, Tika, Marsha: Happy Saturday!

HUGS and prayers for our soldiers, families, country and 1st responders.

See y’all @ 3 pm.

BARB – Yes, definitely a lot easier to handle a 4-wheel suitcase rather than a 2-wheeler suitcase. When DH is at work, he is usually busy as he is a cashier so when there are customers in line, he doesn’t have a choice, he has to do what needs to be done. Yes, they have been telling us that to replace the tub is a remodel and they can’t do that while we are in the apartment, this has been going on since DH put his foot through the end of the tub in 2015. Yes, that neighbor is dangerous. I have been thinking the same thing about if something would happen and he would need to get out especially since my sister said his bedroom is closest to the back door of the trailer. I have also wondered if she is planning to do something to the trailer, like somehow start a fire. We are definitely very upset with the police as they say they can’t do anything since it is a “domestic situation”. Being patient while waiting to hear the plan of action is very hard to do especially since the possibility of the 2 surgeries being done about the same time and that time is getting really close. Good to hear that Jason’s dental appointment went well. They predicted frost for us here last night but I’m not sure that we actually got it. They do have snow flurries in the forecast for Monday and Tuesday as of right now.

KELLY – thank you, I am glad that something came through even if it isn’t a full-time permanent position but as I said before I can still be looking for a permanent position while doing the contract job.

SHARON – Thank you, although I do wish that the job was a permanent position instead of a contract but at least it will be money coming in and I can continue to look for a permanent position. I have suggested several times for him to contact JAG, but he still hasn’t done it. I wish he would as all the stress from what the neighbor is doing is affecting his health and he has health problems any way. Luckily, the duct tape is not on the floor of the tub, only on the sides. As for the toilet seat, it does need to be replaces as I believe one of the plastic screws is broken as I no longer can tighten it and the seat cover doesn’t stay on any longer. I probably should have put in a maintenance request to have them fix it but was hoping that I would have had a job and be moving out of here by this time. Yes, the maintenance are maroons. I have been thinking that almost since we moved in here. Good luck with the newsletter.

SUNNY – Sorry to hear that your DIL’s mother has cancelled but it may be for the best under the circumstances. I will be so glad when we can “go again” and not have to worry about possibly getting sick because we went somewhere and someone there was sick. Sorry to hear that you had a hard time at the store yesterday. I can kind of relate as there have been a few times when I have had a hard time while in the store wearing the mask. Sorry your concert has been postponed again although hopefully by the time you are able to attend in September 2021 you won’t have to worry about COVID and be able to really enjoy the concert.

My brother went in and applied for the restraining order yesterday, but the judge denied it. I guess he “didn’t have enough documentation” to warrant the restraining order. We are not happy one bit about the restraining order being denied. After he got home from applying for the restraining order, he had the Fire Marshal show up. The Fire Marshal said that the trap and bench we a violation. Too bac my brother didn’t have something from the Fire Marshal when he applied for the restraining order as I hope that might have made a difference. This morning he found wood placed in front of one of his cameras again. From what I have found out, the neighbor has her niece and the niece’s boyfriend helping her do the stuff to my brothers’ trailer. Her brother also called my brother about the wood that he supposedly stole from her, the wood she is placing in front of the security cameras to block the view while she is tampering. My brother told him that if he wanted the wood it was behind the trailer and that he was welcome to come and get it. Of course, the neighbor’s brother hasn’t come for the wood. I guess a friend of his told him about a place that he might be able to get a place to rent so he was going to check that out this afternoon.

After I got off the phone with my sister finding out about the stuff going on with my brother I started sorting some of the papers that I have had pile up while I spend most of the day doing job hunting. While I was doing this, I received a call on a job that I applied for last night. She did a “phone screen” right then and there and has set up a zoom interview for Monday afternoon. While I was on that phone call, I had a call from the apartment office come in which at the time I ignored since I was in the middle of the phone screen. After I got off the phone, I listened to their message then called them back. They said there were calling because DH had called the after-hours non-emergency number to find out if he can use the tub to take a bath. They said they can’t get the repair man out to look at the tub until 10/28 to see if he can fix the tub. She also went on to say that they are hesitant to replace the tub since DH is purposefully damaging the tub to get them to replace it. At this point I was furious and told them that we are not damaging the tub on purpose and that since they seem to think that maybe we shouldn’t use the tub at all as just turning to get water to different parts of our body to rinse the soap of can be considered “damaging” as we are moving our feet and “rocking the tub”. She told me that I didn’t need to get upset, they are going to fix the tub and that she shouldn’t have made the comment. I told her that this is the second time that they have accused us of damaging the tub on purpose and why would we want to do that as that makes it so we can’t use the tub for however long it takes to get the repair guy out here plus the 2 days after that it needs to sit. I didn’t get a chance to add that when we need to get the cats out of the apartment for the tub repair we end up taking the one to the vet because of the stress of the situation causing him to get sick and that it has cost up to $300 at the vet because of this. I also told her that she needed to go into the records and look at the move in inspection that we turned in and see that we noted a crack in the tub on the inspection sheet and that nothing was done until DH put his foot through the end of the tub. She then said something about the patch holding to which I told her that for the first 3 years the tub was repaired twice a year and that I still have the letter they sent out 3 years ago about any future tub repairs being our responsibility. I also told her that I felt it was time for me to contact my attorney about this again. When DH got home, I told him about the call, and he was totally upset and called the office. He was in the spare bedroom and I was in the living room and I could hear him yelling at them about the call and our being accused of damaging the tub on purpose. While he was on the phone yelling at them, I looked up the case number from when I called about this same issue 3 years ago (11/9/2017) and called the lawyer. Since it was so late, they didn’t get me called back today so I will be talking to the attorney on Monday. Needless to say, I have been so very upset since that call and even now my heartrate is still running high. After that I called the staffing agency to make sure that the job was a go as they said they needed to do a background check and they asked for references. I was told that we had discussed this yesterday and that they didn’t have an official start date to which I told them I just wanted to make sure as having a job lined up can help us get a different place to live and get out of this apartment so I just wanted to make sure that it wasn’t contingent on the background check or references.

I still haven’t gotten back to sorting the paperwork as I just haven’t been able to focus to get it done. I did try calling one friend to talk to someone and hopefully calm down some, but she wasn’t available, so I called my Stephen minister. She wasn’t available at the time but asked if we could talk in about an out. I told her that was fine. We spent almost an hour discussing all that has been going on and how frustrated I have been lately. I have also tried working a sudoku puzzle to try to relax but struggled with that also.

I am so glad that this contract position has come through as I was really getting worried about what we were going to do since this is the last week I will get unemployment benefits as since my benefits will be exhausted it won’t even be a full unemployment check. I will be with out income for the next few weeks until I start the contract position and get my first paycheck. I think we should be able to get through a couple weeks or so without too much problem. Once my pay starts and we have confirmation from the lender that we have been preauthorized for a house loan I plan to start packing some of our things to get a jump on it for when we find a house and are able to move. I plan to spend evenings after work taking things to the new house in my car and putting as much as possible away so that when we move the big furniture, we don’t have to worry about so many boxes and clothes. I have told DH that we definitely need to get into the spare bedroom and try to finish sorting the stuff that we started a few weeks ago. He made the comment that he guessed he wouldn’t be going fishing tomorrow then. After a little while I told him to go ahead and go fishing as tomorrow is supposed to be the last really nice day, getting into the 70’s as I can work on my paper sorting that I haven’t gotten back to tonight and we can work on the spare bedroom on Sunday and if need be I can work on it next week since I won’t have to be job hunting at least 4 days a week.

I think I am going to see what I can get done yet tonight before I head to bed. Good night all.

Have a great week.
Thiry

Friday: Jason had a dental appointment and it went well. He was pleased. ME TOO.

Cold. Freeze warning over night. Brrr. At least I think the sun is out today.

HUGS and TGIF

Sunny: I resisted delivery, too, but it’s worth it.

Sharon: Hate that when posts disappear.

That’s what I found out . . . the 4 wheelers are much more manageable than the 2 wheelers. Going for easy this time!

YES! The handle is perfect for stacking, so that’s part of the plan, too.

Good luck w/the newsletter!

Kelly, Sunny, Thiry, Marsha: Here’s to a good Friday.

Happy Friday ladies!

Well, I thought I had posted yesterday . . . Had something all typed out, but guess I never posted it. SIGH . . . That's what I get for trying to do too many things at once a.k.a. multi-task.

Thiry, that is great news on the job front!!!! Sounds like things are falling into place for you - finally!!!!
Your brother's situation is another story!!!! Get him in touch with a JAG too. They do not mess around!!! I hope he follows through on the recommendation of the restraining order - if she violates that she can go to jail! (Or at least that used to be the case . . . before all this nonsense started.)
Duct tape in the tub?! OMG!!! You could slip and fall on that!!! Also, tightening the toilet seat is an EASY job - get down on knees and tighten plastic bolts to the left - No need for a "new seat?"! These guys are real maroons!!!! Truth be told, they just don't want to be bothered, or to do their job!

Barb, we boughtsuitcases with four wheels a few years ago, and they are much more managable than the two wheelers. What I usually do is pack the biggest, and then put my carry-on and purse over the handle to rest on top of the big bottom one. Works out well for the most part - better than trying to juggle here there and every which way!
Good to know that the surgeon contacted you and lett you know that they are still considering Jason's case.

Sunny sorry to hear that you were so miserable yesterday . . . Probably good that DIL's mother backed out of the road trip. But if she had Covid already she shut have the antibodies. . . That refund for the concert tickets will buy quite a few CDs!

I have got to work on the newsletter again this afternoon. Been doing it in bits and pieces.

Kelly, hope your meeting went well.

Hope all the rest of you gals enjoy a great Friday!!!!

See ya all back here later for sumthin'! Maye that will help me with the newsletter . . . hmmmmm. emoticon

I sure do understand why she feels she needs to stay home and away from others. In time, we will all be able to "go again".

I had a horrible time at the grocery store yesterday. My allergies were bothering me, my nose was running and I was having problems breathing with that mask on. Ugh... I was a mess!! I have decided I am going to sign up at my local HyVee and shop on line/schedule a pick up. Ugh...

Today, just picking up and putting up - cleaning off the flat surfaces.

Got an e-mail from "Post Modern Jukebox" about our concert in Davenport. It has been rescheduled once again - September. 2021! I had the option of getting a refund so I elected to do that. It's been over a year since I bought the tickets and now another year to wait for the concert. I will buy one of their newer CD's and enjoy it!

Take care team and do have a FAB Friday.

Sunny

Sunny: Glad that DIL's Mother has decided not to travel. That is the wisest choice.

No news today. We did get a text from the surgeon yesterday letting us know that the interventional radiologists were still considering Jason's case. So, as long as it's not lost between the cracks, we have to be patient.

Otherwise, hope you're doing well!

HUGS and have a good evening, ladies.

When it rains, it pours....Thiry! Good for you. Things are looking up. Do keep us posted.

Cold day here today but still managed a trip to town.

DIL's Mother has canceled. I guess she shared our trip with one of Carrie's siblings and they said they would prefer she didn't get out now with the Covid #'s increasing. I certainly understand.

Barb, any news as to a treatment plan yet?

Take care and see you all tomorrow. Sunny

OMG, what a morning I have had already. After getting up I was going through my emails to sort the job hunting emails to put in the job hunting folder so I can go through them much faster. While doing this I received a call from the kiosk manager at Jackson Hewitt. She was checking in with me and wanted to let me know that our annual training will be starting on 10/25 and that it will be done via zoom. She asked me to get a zoom account if I didn't already have one. I told her that I already had one as I have done several zoom meetings already. She then told me about some of the changes that will be implemented this year including a $2/hour pay increase, YAHOO on that one as the pay is very low. She also said that they have made another change and that for every return done over 50 I would get $3.00 and there would still be the bonus at the end of the season. Since I told her that I was still job hunting she asked if I would be interested in working the refund advance that will start around 12/15 and I told her yes. She also said that she had reset my JHNet account so I could go in and start working on things that I need to do to help be ready for the tax season. Oh, she also told me that I will be charged to renew my PTIN (preparer tax ID number) and that I should make sure to keep a copy of the receipt. I am guessing that they are planning to reimburse for the cost of the renewal.

A few minutes later while I was working on getting my breakfast ready I received a call on one of the applications I put in last night, after all the calls about the stuff going on with my brother in Lincoln. She was calling to let me know that she had sent an email with a link to an assessment as a beginning to the continuation of the application process. I told her that when I finished what I was in the middle of I would check on it and get it done. She told me she would be watching for the results of the assessment to come back.

After finishing my breakfast and going back to my email account I received a call from the staffing agency about the contract position I interviewed for last week. She wanted to let me know that they have decided to offer me a position and wanted to know if I was still interested. I told her YES. She said they would be doing a background check and then we would proceed from there. I told her no problem with the background check as I don't think it would match the background that the military does when one of the boys has a security clearance check. I have since received a text message confirming my physical address so they can get the equipment that I will need sent to me to begin the job. I was told they don't have a specific start date as of yet but when I had the interview I was told they wanted to start by the first week of November.

While I was working on this I had a knock on the door, it was the maintenance man coming to put some duct tape on the tub so we can at least use it for showers until the guy comes to repair it again but I guess he is not available for a while. While he was in the bathroom I asked him about the toilet as I keep seeing moisture along the one side of the toilet and wondered if it might need a new seal. He checked and said he didn't think so but noticed the seat was really loose so he said he would put in a work order to get a new seat.

Well, I think I will get my ballot done so I can get those returned and get things ready to get my one laptop taken in to get it's "checkup" and possibly a new fan as it has been getting hot and shutting down. I also have a few other things that I want them to check on while they have it in the shop. I may also see about getting a bottle of bubbly to celebrate the job prospect, which there shouldn't be any problems on that.

Thiry

Thursday: Gray and windy yesterday. Did get a peek of sun, just briefly. VERY windy and cold today. Looks like Fall is here to stay.

Otherwise, just continued deep cleaning the house so it’s all done when we get home from Jason’s surgery.

Enjoy Friday Jr.

HUGS

Thiry: Yes, I am thrilled. This suitcase has 4 wheels so will be easy to handle. I could use the 2 wheelers, too, but that’s more difficult when I’ll be juggling my suitcase and Jasons.

VERY windy again today. There won’t be any leaves left.

I am afraid that this next generation is going to have to produce a lot of cardiologists, pulmonologists and nerologists to deal with the affects of Covid. **SIGH**

Wow! I wondered the same thing about DH sometimes . . . how did he manage his time @ work! But he’s settled into a routine now, so it’s lots better. **SIGH**

What the heck. Replacing a leaking tub is a remodel? That’s ridiculous.

Mail those ballots in.

What the heck! That neighbor is dangerous! A trap and a bench wedged up by the back door! What the heck if there were a fire or other emergency! LORD I’d be pretty upset w/the police. That’s endangerment! I do hope your brother files a restraining order against her, for all that’s worth.

Kelly, Sharon, Sunny, Tika, Marsha: Have a good Thursday.

Hugs and prayers for our soldiers, families, country and 1st responders.

See y'all @ 3 pm.

BARB – nice that you were able to find a suitcase of sale to have next month. Nice to have been able to get out to get it early while there wasn’t a lot of people around. We had really windy weather here the other day and lots of leaves blew off the trees. I totally agree that the time a person lives there, and connections shouldn’t have any affect on the consequences of what she is doing, and something needs to be done about her. It is so bad that those people think they are “invincible”. They will think differently if they end up getting the virus and become one of the “long haulers” (people dealing with symptoms months after getting COVID) that I have heard about on The Doctors this morning when I watched the recording from yesterday as it is now on at 2 am so I am recording it to watch during the day. Yes, it is very frustrating that DH can’t seem to manage his time. I sometimes wonder how he managed to live on his own all those years that he was alone. The aren’t going to replace the tub until we move out as they keep telling us that to do so is a “remodel” and they can’t do that while we still live here. Yes, the job hunting is definitely another frustration.

KELLY –

SHARON – glad that the rain finally stopped for you. Your fall tree sounds interesting. I wish we had room for something like that, but we don’t so we haven’t done a tree for quite a long time. We had pork tonight as I have been cooking up the pork shoulder roasts that I bought last week since I don’t have room for the full roasts in the freezer so making pulled pork and putting the smaller bowls of pulled pork in the freezer.

SUNNY – sorry you had to postpone your hair appointments but at least you don’t have to wait too long to get in for them. I totally agree that fall is a wonderful season and love the changing colors. That bush is absolutely beautiful. I know, I was totally shocked when I heard the voices in the hall yesterday morning then realized that the one was the maintenance man and that he was here because of the tub leaking. When he said he needed to go downstairs and clean up the flooding I wanted to say that if they would replace the tub like they should have he wouldn’t have to be cleaning up the “flooding from the tub”. I not only wonder about the integrity but keep wondering how much mold is under the tub from all the leaking over the last 6 years. I think we had a flower similar to the Corpse Flower here at Lauritzen Gardens that bloomed last year as I kind of remember there being talk of a flower blooming that had an odor to it. I had thought about going to check it out but didn’t get around to it so didn’t get to see it. Have a great time this weekend in St. Louis visiting your son, DIL and DGS. Oh, you will have to let me know about the winery. I didn’t know that they had one in that area.

I had PT this morning then stopped by the post office to pick up the mail on my way home. Our mail in ballots were in the mail so I need to get busy and work on mine. DH has already completed his so when I get mine completed; we will take them to one of the drop boxes to return them.

OMG, my sister called tonight, many times, to let me know that my brother’s neighbor is at it again. He found a trap on his back steps and, also a bench wedged up by the back door. She is also texting him telling him he needs to move and that he should move to Omaha where his sisters live. He told her that if he had gone out the back door he would have been injured. He did call the police and they sent an officer out but all they did was take a report and tell him that there isn’t anything they can do because it is a domestic issue. I found the information on the officer that I talked to when I called the Lincoln PD Labor Day weekend and gave it to her. She called and was basically told the same thing. When she called back we were talking and I made the comment that its too bad we couldn’t get an officer like the one I got when I called the Sarpy County Sheriff when my ex friend was harassing me with text messages and phone calls. I told her that this officer sent her a text from my phone telling her not to call or text anymore or be charged with harassment. She asked me to look up the county sheriff office for Lincoln while she made a different call. When she called back, I gave her the number then she called them. At first, she was told the same as what she heard from the Lincoln PD and that we should be calling them. She told them we had multiple times and that they aren’t doing anything. She then asked if we were going to have to wait until she injured or killed our brother before something would be done about this idiot. She was then told to have our brother go to the courthouse tomorrow to the “witness/victim” division and have them help file a restraining order against her. She then talked to our brother to tell him what she had been told and she plans to keep calling him tomorrow to make sure that he follows up with the trip to the trip to the courthouse.

Yesterday, when the maintenance men came back to look at the tub, they took my hand towel off the rack, put it in the tub then stepped on it. I don’t understand why they did that when they could have picked up bath towel that DH had left on the floor. DH said they most likely used the hand towel to step on so as not to get dirt in the tub. Now that doesn’t even make any since to me as it wouldn’t be hard to rinse the tub to remove any dirt they might have left in the tub from their shoes. I was very frustrated as I then needed to wash the hand towel so we could use it.

I’d better finish cleaning up the kitchen from supper and get ready to head to bed. Good night all.

Have a great week.

Sunny: Glad you could reschedule your haircuts till tomorrow.

That is a beautiful bush!

Yes, the corpse flower has a HORRIBLE odor! YUCK I’d watch it on video! LOL

Glad your DIL’s mother is doing better. Takes so long to get over the affects of the virus.

Good Wednesday Morning, my friends.

We had hair cut appointments this morning but the operator just called letting us know she had overbooked by accident so said rescheduling for tomorrow would be fine with us.

It has been really beautiful here. I love fall! It is the most wonderful season of all. DH & I met in and got married in the fall. Snuggle weather! Love it.
This is a photo of our burning bush. Several years ago, I discovered these bushes while on a trip back East. I came home and that following spring, bought two of them. One died but this one is showing off this year. Love it!

Thiry, I can't believe your tub is leaking again. I worry about the integrity of the structure. Ugh..

I hope you hear something positive this week on your job hunt. You would be an asset to any organization. Keep the faith and know that there is just the right fit waiting for you.

Kelly, Happy Birthday to our Navy indeed. Thanks for sharing this with us. BTW, are you going to get to the Nashville Zoo for the blooming of the Corpse Flower? I saw it on our local news. I think you can watch it on video and not sure I want to be there given the awful scent.
youtu.be/jzMs5EbClFk
Amazing while a little macrab too.

Barb, I hope you hear something more definitive today regarding the treatments for Jason. It is so hard to wait. Ugh... Do keep us posted.

Sharon, your chutney sounds delish. I am making crock pot apple butter this week. We are headed to St. Louis Saturday to see our Son, DIL, and DGS plus visit a new winery. Our DGS and DIL love the apple butter so thought I would surprise them with some. Our DIL's mother is doing better, still having some wheezing but doc thinks it is just going to be there for a while. DH ask her if she wanted to go with us to St. Louis and I was surprised when she said yes so that will be a nice day out and about. We will mask and social distance.

I am off to fix a bite of breakfast. Take care everyone and have a Wonderful Wednesday!

Sunny

Wednesday: Had to run out and get a suitcase for next month. Found one and it was on sale. Glad I went early. NOBODY out. Thank goodness.

Otherwise, just @ home. Finished some more deep cleaning.

The weather was weird yesterday. Sunny, then rained. Just short lived rain. Then in the afternoon got very windy. Felt cold. But better with the sun out.

HUGS and wonderful Wednesday.

Thiry: Good grief, with the threats she’s made, the length of time either one of them have lived there nor her connections should matter one whit!

The people NOT in our immediate area, but in the city of Milwaukee and closer in suburbs are JUST not getting the message about measures to stay safe. And add that to the load from the universities and colleges, it’s a mess. We have UW Milwaukee and Marquette University, both in the downtown area. The students just feel ‘invincible’ and are crowding bars, having parties, etc. GAH!

How frustrating that DH can’t manage his own time. GAH! Glad you at least had a good span of time to visit before the other people started arriving @ the park.

GAH on the tub. Lord have mercy. When is that landlord going to replace it already! I would be mighty angry.

Hope you have a better time of it w/the job search. Just another huge frustration.

Sharon: Yes, the waiting is getting tedious.

Kelly, Sunny, Tika, Marsha: Hugs and hope all is well.

Hugs and prayers for our soldiers, families, country and 1st responders.

See y’all @ 3 pm.

Happy Tuesday ladies. . .

Well, our rain here finally ended after 2 full days of drizzle. Good for the grass. Thankfully not too many leaves down here yet.

Good for you getting lots of housework done, Barb.
Glad you heard something regarding Jason even though it's not finalized yet.

Put up my Halloween decorations. Not many and we have started our Fall tree. Got some pumpkin and witches hats on there, but so far nothing else. It seems so bare, and plain after our Patriotic tree which just looks like a "patriotic firework" just went off. Want to be able to keep it up until the end of November and then we'll let it fufill its intended mission - a Christmas tree.

Had the leftover pork, stuffing, and more of the pear chutney. Just keeps getting better and better!

Kelly, too bad about not being able to sneak into NY for Thanksgiving. You know youze guys don't tow the party line . . . and for good reason!

Wish I had known it was the Navy's B'day today. Made us a cocktail before dinner, and would have toasted #243!

Prayers to our police, military, country, and first responders and their families. Hugs back at cha with your families too!

Hope you all had a good Tuesday. OK time to turn out the lights. . . emoticon

BARB – I totally understand your not wanting to go out much to prevent getting sick especially with Jason having1 if not 2 surgeries coming up in the next few weeks. I also can understand your not having Thanksgiving since Jason will only be a couple weeks postop, it would possibly be too much to have a big Thanksgiving. Yes. I am disappointed about the office not assisting but from what he has said, she has lived there a lot longer than he and has “connections” there that he does not have. I hope you were able to relax the other night. Sorry to hear that things are getting bad and you are concerned about your safety, that is sad. We got some rain Sunday night into Monday morning but then it quit, and it has been dry and sunny since. Nice that you have heard from the surgeon to let you know that they are still working on the plan of care. We had really strong wind yesterday after the rain stopped. A lot of the leaves have blown off the trees during that wind.

KELLY – I agree with your take on how people are not as friendly these days, very sad situation. I bet that Bob Ross painting is amazing as I used to see his show when mom would watch it. Thank you, yes, I am praying that something comes along sooner rather than later. It is getting so frustrating. Yes, it is very frustrating that people think it is better to take the “younger” candidate over an experienced one. Yes, a few of the referrals have come from the agencies but most of the phone interviews have been from places that I have found on my own. Yes, very maddening about the management of the trailer court. I think he is still making reports, but I do not know for sure. Sorry to hear that the area in NY is a hotspot right now. Good to hear that your brother-in-law and family are back in the house. Sorry to hear that Mom is unsettled, hope it gets better for her. Sorry you are not going to be able to go to NY for Thanksgiving. Happy birthday to the Navy.

SHARON – another newsletter already, it seems like you just completed one not that long ago. I am hoping that he will contact JAG but will not hold my breath just in case he does not as it is his decision. All I can do is to make suggestions, like that old saying that you can lead a horse to water but cannot make them drink. I wish I could make him do the JAG, but I cannot. Yes, it is a lot of applications and very frustrating that nothing has come of all of them. The nearest base for him would be here in Omaha. I’ll have to mention to him about possibly contacting the American Legion or VFW to see if there would possibly be any help for him. Yes, he has a medical discharge from the military when he retired. I believe it is an 80% disability. Yes, I agree about there being something wrong that him going out the backdoor puts him in the neighbors yard but it has something to do with the way the trailers are positions from what I can get out of what my sister has said. Yes, I have thought about age discrimination. A couple things on that is that most of the interviews have been phone so there isn’t any way they can see what my age is, no mention of my age/birthdate on the resume or any thing like that. Also, I have been in contact with the gal that was the receptionist when I worked at Arctic Insulation who lost her job about a month ago, she is a couple years older than me, and she has already gotten a new job that started yesterday. Yes, I was very impressed with the prices that I have been getting on some of my purchases lately. Great that you got to FT with the kids again, I’m sure that it made your day.

SUNNY – thank you, I am praying that something come along sooner rather than later. A color drive sounds like a wonderful thing and a thing of beauty. That is an absolutely beautiful picture from the dam. I took a short walk at the lake last week and the colors there are absolutely beautiful although most of the color is shades of yellow. I would like to see more colors like red, orange and such. The Trump car rally looks like it was very interesting. Sorry to hear that your DIL’s mom is still struggling after her bout with COVID.
We were able to make the trip to David City on Saturday. We were a little late getting out of Omaha as DH took his sweet time getting ready to go. At one point I told him that if we were going to leave at 11 am he had 17 minutes to get ready. After that I went and finished getting ready and gathered the stuff to take with us then headed out to the car. About 25 minutes after I told DH he had 17 minutes I called him to find out if he was about ready and his excuse was that I left the apartment and didn’t tell him I was leaving. I don’t understand what my going to the car with the stuff had anything to do with his not getting ready when he should have. I don’t feel like I should have to “hold his hand” for him to get ready to go somewhere. On the drive to David City we got in a line of traffic and were only going 45-50 mph when the speed limit was 60-65. We would be going along and slowly speed up only to quickly slow down again. It was very frustrating. When we finally got to the cemetery to meet with my brother and sister we talked for a little bit then went into town to get some food to take to the park where we were able to sit and talk and the dog was able to get out and move around. We sat and talked until about 3 pm when a bunch of people with kids started to gather. We are guessing that there must have been Halloween costume party going on as all the kids were in costume. At that point we decided it was time to leave as the dog was getting agitated and with all the people that were showing up, we didn’t want to take the chance of one of them having COVID.

I am still waiting to hear about the interview last week for the contract position. I am thinking about calling the staffing agency that set it up and ask if they have heard anything yet. The phone interview I had scheduled for yesterday ended up getting postponed as the interviewer was “under the weather”. It has been rescheduled for tomorrow afternoon. This job prospect is one that I found on my own so wouldn’t have to deal with the staffing agency for however long they would hold my employment contract.

Around all the job hunting I have been trying to get some cleaning done here. Yesterday while I was out, getting some medications from the pharmacy I received a text from the realtor asking if we still were looking at moving as she has seen some really nice deals that “wouldn’t last long”. I wrote back to let her know that we are still interested in moving but since I still haven’t been able to get a job even with doing 10-20 applications a week we will have to wait a little longer on the house. This is adding to the frustration as we are almost 3 months into the 6-month lease we signed and not any closer to getting out of this dump. This morning I woke up about 6:30 to voices in the hallway. Since there are only the 2 of us in the apartment, I was wondering what was going on. When I looked to the hallway, I saw DH standing there with a towel held in front of him talking to someone in the bathroom. Soon the maintenance man stepped out of the bathroom and told DH that he needed to go downstairs to clean up the flood in their bathroom from our tub leaking. Yes, I said our tub is leaking again. So, sometime in the next week or so I will most likely be spending the day in the car with the “boys” so they can “patch” the tub again. So very frustrating that they won’t do something more than patch the d@mn thing, so we don’t have to deal with this crap anymore.

I am going to close this and see about getting the bed made since I washed the bedding today as I did not get it done over the weekend or yesterday.

Have a great week.
Thiry

Well at least they let you have an update or did you hunt them down Barb?

We have been dry since that downpour last night. Nice otherwise.

Talked to my brother in law, their county is the fourth largest hot spot in NY right now. The contractor's wife has contracted it so needless to say the entire crew is quarantined for awhile, they are living in the house it is just the minor items to be finished. Overall they are happy to be back home, Mom is doing okay but we think happy as she is being home it has her unsettled at times. Because of that I will not try to sneak into NY for Thanksgiving (there is a ban on us TN'ers).

Nothing new going on here, might go sit a spell on the porch again and there may be sumthin in my hand.

Happy Birthday to our US Navy!!! Hugs and Prayers to our military and first responders and their families. Hugs to you lasses and families too!

Tuesday: Rained all day yesterday till 5 pm. PHEW. LOTS of leaves down.

Got lots of housework done, so that was a bonus to the rainy weather.

The surgeon said the plan of care for Jason is still being worked on . So, more patience.

HUGS and have a great Tuesday.

Hugs and prayers for our soldiers, families, country and 1st responders.

See y'all @ 3 pm.

Hey gang! Looked in on youse and honestly thought I posted something that I started but oh look my chipmunk is back and the baby deer are next door again. That and I got tied up on the phone and away from the laptop so thinking about it is about all I did.

Barb I can barely think of what you two are doing to stay healthy in these trying times, I noticed though that folks are not as friendly when out so maybe you aren't missing out on much. Who am I kidding, I hate it and like Sunny said, don't cough it's okay to toot. I find myself in the car just driving and looking a spot to stop. I do hope you heard from your team today. Mega hugs. That percent sounds high, is that for the state or local? Here they are including the probables for both cases and deaths, what?

I watched some of the hearings this morning, it'll be interesting tomorrow to see if they ever let her respond to their mindless questions. I'll be in the pewl but will watch for the updates. Didn't get a chance to see how cspan handled it after her remarks this morning. All we can do is pray that enough feel it is okay to go back to what our constitution was founded on and forget she is Catholic.

Sunny the view at your dam is stunning, we aren't getting much color here yet but we have Bob Ross painting in the pool area, one blaze autumn maple with a very tall dead tree in back of it. I don't think there was a car rally here, looks like a success for your community and I say you were smart to stay home. Never mind c19, never know who would show up thankfully they didn't (far as I know), likely thought they'd be treated as unwelcome.
Sorry to hear that your mother in law is still under the weather, are they letting the Doc know what is going on. I know a 55 year old that is in great health and it took over a month to recover. Seems like she has had it for awhile longer, as we all say we don't know what we don't know and sadly it is taking it's toll on some folks. I do hope her spirits are good.

Thiry, hopefully something comes soon for you. It is so difficult to get folks to understand it's better to hire experience. If some of your referrals are coming from an agency, shame on them for not paying closer attention. That is maddening your brothers management is not helping you and putting up with that dingbat. I know he has filed police reports, is he continuing to file them as she threatens him? Outside of getting a huge workcrew together to do it all very quickly, I would think there isn't much that can be done if there are many on hand and they are cross the line for a few minutes.

Good golly, a cloud just opened up right over us thought it was one of those planes that drop water on a fire! Nothing else with it, just wet.

Well, gotta run looks like you gals have been busy in the kitchen...will check out page later. Sharon your pear chutney made my mouth water, just give me a spoon and the jar thank you.

Hugs and Prayers to all!

Happy Monday to one and all!

Yes, Barb, I agree that something definite from the surgeon would help with the anxiety. Hope that happens for you today. . .

Thanks for posting the recipe, Sunny. Will check it out when I finish this, and I appreciate it.
Nice picture of the car rally!! I agree 20% seems awfully high.
They really can't attack ACB on anything else, and that's what they attacked JFK on.
Her record is stellar, but I am darn sure she will be able to handle whatever they throw at her and fire it right back.
I'm sorry also to hear that your DIL's Mom is still having effects from Covid.

Yes, exactly and why we wear masks. We had Covid in our family and my DIL's Mother is still having some problems she feels is directly related to having Covid. We just don't understand this virus and had no knowledge of how it would behave. Unfortunately, it has behaved very badly. Ugh... We will continue to do our part and some day, hopefully soon, this will all be behind us. We can only pray for that day! I, for one, appreciate all efforts to keep each other safe.

We are very social beings and this has really changed that. Like I said before, "I used to dread tooting in public, now I dread coughing." Ugh...

Sunny: While I do agree that wearing the masks is FAR from a panacea (forgive the pun!) to quell this pandemic, It at least keeps people MINDFUL. And YES YES YES, The nature of this virus certainly is unknown as it was created in a lab. *SIGH* Like a genie in a bottle, wish it would go back!!!

That would certainly be NOT what this country was founded on to attack Amy Coney Barrett on the basis of her faith!

Thanks for the picture!

We love it but we enjoy hot wings. We like it on the "warmer side" but know a lot of people can't tolerate heat. I think you could cut the hot sauce and the red pepper flakes in half and still have a dish that is full of flavor. I will post the recipe.

Barb, Praying you hear something today. I know you all are ready to get on with the treatment. Keep us posted.

A 20% positivity rate is high. I am not surprised knowing that it is going to take a course different than any other due to the nature of the virus since It was created in a lab and they had no idea what kind of course it would take. I am not one that is convinced that masks do all that much good to protect a person but respect the requirements just in case. They have got to help some and some counts!!

We had our huge Trump Car Rally and the turnout was awesome. Here is a photo of the Cars lining up for the parade.

I have been watching some of the hearing this morning. I just want to see God glorified in this appointment. I hope they do not attack Amy Coney Barrett on her faith. Ugh...

Take care everyone and have a marvelous monday....

Monday: Jason has a physical this morning with the GP. HOPE we hear from the surgeon today, but we surely will call if we don’t hear.

Have a good Monday!

Sharon: Concerned for safety on many levels. Our covid #’s are horrid . . . 20% positivity. People not wearing masks because it infringes on their rights. And definitely stressed w/worry that this could impact Jas’ ability to get the needed surgeries. **SIGH* Trying to take it one day @ a time. Yes, the unknown is soooo utterly nerve-wracking, to say the least. BUT prayers, faith and one day @ a time. It all helps. I think it would help immensely if we had some answers from the surgeon.

How wonderful that you got to FT w/the kids again! Makes the day.

Late check in Sunday, and turning the lights out . . .

Barb, I am so sad that you are increasingly concerned about your safety in WI. Physical or Health-wise? I am surrounding you and Jas each in a protective bubble. Try to remember to do that each day and each time you go out for yourselves. It exponentially increases the energy.
I'm hoping too, Barb, you will have some answers tomorrow. It's the unknowing and waiting that's so nerve-wracking.

Well, spent the afternoon on FT with the kiddos again, and then cooking for the rest of it. Had to put the pork loin on hold. Made the Pear Chutney yesterday to serve with it, and it was awesome! emoticon Really, the perfect accompaniment!!!
Had to do it in the oven due to weather conditions, but it came out Perfect!!!! Served with my Fall Harvest Stuffing/Dressing, and Roasted Delicata Squash. Perfect fall meal. DH gave it a 25 out of 10! If you'd like the recipes, let me know and I'll post them.

Yep . . .the . . . newsletter . . . again! And yes, Sunny, it definitely seems like I just get one out and it's time to do another.

Glad you enjoyed a relaxing evening! Leftovers - Yay - no cooking; heat and eat!!

Sunny, glad you're back! Thanks for checking in!

Beautiful photo from the dam looking at the bluff! Such beautiful Fall colors and flowers.
Yep . . . like she's really going to say yes . . .

Glad you had a nice day down at the lake with our friends. It was a good choice. Sounds wonderful!!! Your whole day sounds like so much fun! So needed for almost everyone right now. Barb, I don't know how you are doing it, but I applaud you!!!!
Hope the rally was a success!

Sunny, would love you to post the recipe for your Firecracker Chicken. Sounds interesting to me, but if too spicy, DH won't eat it. About the highest heat he'll do is green chilies.

Prayers for our police, military, families, country, and 1st responders.

Ok ladies, off to bed we go, and lights are now out! Sweet dreams!

Here is part of the other half checking in. If I don't respond to an e-mail right away, I fall off of the notices and I hate that. I had all intentions of getting back to it but never did.

Thiry, I do hope something comes up soon for you. Bless your heart. It is difficult, for sure these days but looks like the unemployment #'s are coming down so that is a good thing. I think the recovery from the shut down has been absolutely amazing.

Kelly, I am impressed that you are at the pool so much. Good for you. I need to quit setting and get some exercise.

Sharon, newsletter time again. Wow! Seems like it rolls around fast.

We went out on a Color Drive yesterday. The Sugar Maples are peeking now and so are some of the oaks. We drove to Mark Twain Lake, had a picnic beside the lake, and then drove back. It was just so much fun and a beautiful day to be out and about.

I took this photo from the dam looking at the bluff. The water is below but didn't get in the photo.

Heard that Chuckie Schumer is asking Amy Coney Barrett to recuse herself from the supreme court. Wow! The left is going to continue on...Mercy!

We had our local Trump Auto Rally here yesterday and I am not sure how many showed up. We were going to go but opted for a day down at the lake with our friends. It was a good choice.

Hopefully, Barb, you will have some answers tomorrow so looking forward to your post.

I am off to put the sauce together for our Firecracker Chicken. Serving it with baked rice and fresh broccoli from the farmer's market. It's all a win-win for dinner tonight.

Take care and see you all tomorrow. Hugs, Sunny

Bed check and lights out . . .

Seems like about half of us are here tonight. Hope the rest get in before we have to send out the shore patrol with Kelly!

Getting ready to work on the newsletter again, so I thought I'd tuck you gals in and shut off the lights.

Kelly, sent you replies to your messages to me.

Barb, hope you and Jas had a nice relaxing evening.

Good night and sweet dreams, all! emoticon

Sharon: Yes . . . as much as I love fruit, I have to use portion control, because it affects the blood sugar. Good to be aware of that for sure.

Well, seeing as the surgeon is consulting w/2 radiologists, have to give them all the benefit of time. *I* need to be patient -- not necessarily my strong sit.

Oh, I totally agree that Hollywood has taken it in the shorts. And deservedly so. BUT maybe this will shake things up enough that they straighten their acts up and jump off the pedestal.

Ah well. Going to relax a little tonight! Perfect timing for a short evening walk.

Happy Saturday to one and all!

Well, I should be starting the newsletter, but decided to come here first. . . Procrasinating much?! I just finished making a Pear Chutney that I am going to serve along with a grill roasted cider-marinated pork roast tomorrow.

Thiry, hard to beleieve that nasty neighbor is still bothering your borther. It is most definiely time to take some legal action!!! JAG is a great place to start and the price is definiely right! American Legion, or VFW might also have members that volunteer to help their fellow members that need legal assistance, too. Certainly the nearest base should have a JAG office. Is he disabled? Maybe Wounded Warriors, but not sure.
Something is seriously wrong with the fact that if he goes out his back door and tries to replace the skirting, he will be on her yard and she has threatened to report him for trespassing if he steps on her yard. The fact that management for the park frefuses to help him too is just plain wrong!!! DEFINITELY LEGAL ACTION TIME! I guess his only option is to have a handyman service replace it, and figure out a way to make it very difficult to remove.
Thiry, do you think it's a possiblity that you are being disqualified ( read discriminated) against because of your age? The contract position sounds doable for the reasons you said. Good luck with the upcoming phone interview. You certainly got some great buys at the store!!!!! WOW!!! Those are 1970s prices!!! Your DH needs to watch his fruit intake for his diabetes. Fruit is pure glucose. I realize it's healthy on one hand, but he needs to watch out - BUT we know how well he does that!
Agree with Barb, it is tough getting over the loss of our parents - especially our mothers - and I don't honestly think we ever do. It just becomes less painful with time.

Kelly, glad you liked the suggestions. So what are you going to take a second look at? Glad I was able to talk you into SOMETHING?!!! Going to send you a private Spark Mail when I finish this - so check it out! Hope you had fun at the Farmer's Market earlier.

Barb, suggestion for a winter garden . . . Decoartive cabbage, and Icicle Pansies. I love the Icicle Pansies - they are cold tolerant, and if they do succumb to a freeze, they usually will pop back to life once the temperature gets above freezing! I put them in my front porch pots and around my dwarf bushes next to the front porch. May have to do that again this year to cheer me up too! If you cover their roots with a layer of mulch, they do very well.

Barb, nice you had your Zoom breakfast. Nothin' wrong with pancakes again. Easy and highly variable and changable. I am a fruit compote kinda gal. Love blueberry and cherry, actually all, but those two are my favorites. Do them in stuffed French toast, too! Cinnamon apples would be seasonal. Sorry you haven't heard from the surgeon yet; hoping no news is good/better news!

Feel the same way about small businesses who just can’t make a go of it in this economy. Of course, they get no support or backing because most are the wrong party. Have to say I'm glad that Hollywoood is taking it in the shorts. They put themselves on such a pedestal! Don't even follow that news anymore . . . Movie theaters have suffered and been on the decline since "streaming" came on the scene. Your downtown theater sounds nice. I pitched that idea to my dad about 30 years ago for our hometown theater which had closed down. He unfortunately did not want to do it. I think it would have been quite successful for another 15-20 years, but sadly would have followed where others have/are going.
I certainly hope that things will change for the holidays for us all.

Sunny, hope you are doing well, and getting out and about once in awhile, too? Bet you're grateful for the less scheduled Sunday school lessons too.

Ditto to Kelly's comment - We are the Land of the Free because of our military, police and fire departments, and let's keep it that way! Enjoy your evening ladies!

Saturday: Zoom breakfast. Pancakes again. But topped w/fruit compote. Good! Just sad to not be able to go, but WI is just in bad shape w/the virus and cannot afford to get ill.

No word yesterday from the surgeon, so have to be patient and wait till Monday. But I’d rather things be done right than in a hurry.

Have a sensational Saturday.

Thiry: Yes, for sure, phone calls are very time consuming. But has to be done.

I really feel for these small business who just can’t make a go of it in this economy. *SIGH* Just sad. Movie theaters definite are taking it in the neck like restaurants. Sad. We have a theater in our downtown area that is re-opened, and hope they can sustain. They just re-did the theater 2 yrs. ago and it’s really nice inside. It’s an old theater that they took the time to restore rather than gutting.

The holidays are just off the books this year. No trick or treating allowed here this year. Thanksgiving . . . well both kids work anyhow, and Jas will be several weeks post-op anyhow. Christmas . . . well have to see. I guess it’s a ways off yet, and things could change. Hoping so, anyhow.

Wow. Your brother’s neighbor is a total nut case! I am very disappointed that the office won’t help him so he can replace the skirting on the trailer. **SIGH** Damned if you do, damned if you don’t!

Wow, that’s a lot of job applications. Hope SOMETHING comes of all that. Glad at least you have a phone interview coming up.

Hopefully you can get together with your sister and brother. It’s tough getting over the loss of a Mom.

Kelly, Sharon, Sunny, Tika, Marsha: have a wonderful weekend.

Hugs and prayers for our soldiers, families, country and 1st responders.

BARB – nice that you were able to relax the other day and that you were able to pull a meal out of the freezer. Nice that you were able to get several of your needed calls don’t the other day. Sometimes it seems phone calls can be very time consuming. I would really love temperatures in the 60’s but this week we have had 80’s and possibly even 90-degree weather. Nice that you were able to get a bit of a walk in while waiting for the oil change to be done. Glad you were able to get the lawn mowed and edged and yes, hopefully only one more time for this year. It is incredibly sad that some businesses are going out of business as there have been several in our area that have not reopened since the virus hit. We also had one of our movie theaters that reopened after the relaxing of the restrictions for the virus that has opted to close again as they said they weren’t getting enough business and that there weren’t enough “new” movies coming out to draw people into the theater. I am hoping that they will reopen as they are planning as I really like this theater and it is one of the theaters where you get served in your seat while watching the movie and it is close to our place. For us Halloween will be as usual, nothing going on since we are in an apartment and for Thanksgiving, we aren’t planning anything since DH has worked every Thanksgiving eve and black Friday since he started working there. We will be here alone for Thanksgiving. As for Christmas, we have already heard that my brother in Bloomfield won’t be traveling down here to gather with the family and suspect the same for my brother in Sioux City, IA. My sister here in Omaha also said they will most likely not be getting together with family this year so if there is any gathering it will probably be the brother from Lincoln and sister from Norfolk and us getting together.

KELLY – yes, the weekend was enjoyable and cool weather wise. I didn’t get to the point of putting on a jacket but had it at the table along with one of the jean blankets that I keep in the car at the table in case I felt the need to use them. Glad you had a good time at your patio night. That wolfdog sounds like a great dog. No good leads today. Hoping that the interview I did yesterday turns into a working situation even if it is a contract position.

SHARON – Oh, how wonderful that you got the chance to spend a couple hours with the grands the other day. It sounds like they miss you and really enjoyed the time on reading to you and having you read to them. Thank you for the vibes and yes, wish they were working quicker. Thanks, but still no luck on the job front. Yes, the Hobby Lobby stores that I have been in are exceptionally large and have lots of neat things for any project a person might be trying to complete.

SUNNY – thank you, I am trying not to get discouraged. That is hard to do when I look at the list of places that I have applied over the last few months as I have been doing between 10 & 20 applications each week and still no job. Sorry to hear that you sister is so week. Prayers that she can get some get the go ahead for PT when she sees the doctor. I have had wood-fired pizza and agree that it is exceptionally good. Glad that you got to have a day with your son/DIL. I’m sure that raised your spirits a great deal to have time with them.

Oh my, the weather has been different this week. After only getting into the 50’s last weekend we had temperatures in the mid 80’s most of this week and it was predicted to get to 90 today which would break the record high for the day. The last I checked it was at 89 degrees, so I don’t know if we broke the high. Even though it has been in the 80’s during the day it has been getting into the 50’s at night which is nice. I did see on the news a while ago that we tied with the record high for today.

I forgot to mention with my last post that my sister had called and said that my brother received a notice from the trailer court that he needed to replace the missing skirting on his trailer. From what I was able to find out, he suspects the former girlfriend/neighbor of taking the skirting then reporting it to the office. I also found out that with the way the yards are with the trailers, if he goes out his back door and tries to replace the skirting, he will be on her yard and she has threatened to report him for trespassing if he steps on her yard. I guess he called the office about this and they won’t do anything about helping him to replace the skirting without her calling the police for him trespassing. I told my sister that our brother needs to contact JAG for some help dealing with this “idiot” of a neighbor.

I had the phone interview on Monday and on Tuesday received an email letting me know I was no longer in the running for the position. On Wednesday I received a text on one of the positions I applied for last Friday wanting to know when I was available to interview for the position. I responded to the text and now have a phone interview scheduled for Monday on that position. I also received a phone call from one of the staffing agencies about a contract position that they have. It would be a 3-6 month position, paying a little more than what I have as my minimum amount needed, it would be a work at home and they would provide all the equipment needed and help get things set up with a firewall for the site I would need to be logging into for the job. I haven’t really been interested in contract positions as then after the job is over, I will be looking for a job again, but this would at least be money coming in and I can continue to look for a full time permanent position.

My sister called again Wednesday and this evening. She asked what our plans are for tomorrow and I told her not much except probably cleaning the apartment and watching movies on TV. She wanted to know if we wanted to meet her and our brother at mom’s grave in David City then get some food from the same restaurant we got it from the last time and go to the park to eat and visit. She said it seems we are all struggling, me and the memories of the song Moon River that for some reason I can’t find a connection to mom but got very emotional and thought of her last weekend when I heard it, her going through more of the stuff that she has of mom’s as well as other things and our brother being emotional and watching Christmas movies. Now my brother isn’t into watching Christmas movies. We are hoping that getting together and spending time at the park talking will help get us out of the emotional slump that we are all in.

I have found a few good sales this week. The other day while I was at the store to pick up lettuce so we could have salads for supper I found several 1-pound rolls of ground turkey sausage on clearance for $0.50, I grabbed 5 rolls that I brought home and put in the freezer. I made a trip to another store tonight as they had pork shoulder roasts for $0.99/pound, brats 10 for $10, grapes for $0.97/pound and red delicious apples for $0.98/pound. DH goes through a lot of fruit so grabbed some of the fruit to add to his supply.

Well, I have dosed off a couple times while trying to get this done and posted and see that it is getting really late so I had better close and get to bed so I can get up and get things gathered to meet with my brother and sister tomorrow. Good night all or should I say good morning to you early risers.

Have a great week.
Thiry

When we moved here, I tried both Cost Cutters and Great Clips. BUT neither gave me a good cut. So found this stylist and wouldn’t change a thing! PHEW Lucky.

Yes, the garden is asleep now, dang it! HATE IT. Just puts in black and white that THAT SEASON is approaching.
