everyone gets it from time to time. for some the periods of insomnia last longer than for others

big reasons are stress, a medical issue... meds, your surroundings if you have not been tested for a sleeping issue, like sleep apnea, that would be a great start

I have learned to deal with those moments with a hot bath and magnesium. helps me to relax a bit

Yes, I have it from time to time. I first noticed it when I worked at McDonald's in Iowa. There was even one time that I went 4 days straight with no sleep at all. I ended up going to the emergency room and getting a shot to help me sleep. Called off work. My landlord told me that she would not send any calls through to my room. I lived in a hotel while there.

It is not so bad now, but I do still get it. They gave me Eleval (sp?) to take. There has been times that I have to take 3 of them to work, but it does work.

Of course, I get fatigued too, which is a pima {Pain in my A-- ) LOL

No, you are not an oddball. It's just that your AI manifests differently from some others. In most of the information I have read on AI diseases there is usually some syptoms that are the opposite of each other, ex. weight gain/ weight loss, in the same list of symptoms for the identical AI diseases.

I have to be the oddball!! I have the opposite problem-I never feel like I've had enough sleep. I can't sit on the couch & watch movies cause I can't stay awake for the movie!. If I sit down for very long I start to fall asleep at the kitchen table. I know that I do get up early (4 am) daily, but I have to get up that early to be able to function for work at 7am. I usually go to bed around 9-10pm, but there are some days I'm asleep around6:30 or 7pm, & sleep til morning

Because I'm on Vicodin for pain I was told not to take any other Tylenol. So this will be a good idea for me.

I'll try to remember to get time release Meletonin tablets, thanks.

I used to use Tylenol PM, but only used it when I had to because it makes my legs twitch while I'm trying to fall asleep. Drives me crazy. I was skeptical of the meletonin, but am glad I gave it a try. Your body makes meletonin naturally, so really you are just giving yourself a little increase of what you already have naturally. If you decide to try them, I'd recommend the time release tablets..you stay asleep better with them.

Good luck with whatever you decide to try. It's difficult to be healthy and stay active when you aren't getting enough sleep.

I had asked about using Benadryl but the doctor told me I shouldn't use it because my Glaucoma eye pressure is really high.

My doc recommended benadryl and it is cheaper than prescription meds. It definitely works for me. I have Graves disease which is Autoimmune hyperthyroid so believe me when I tell you that I can get extremely wired and stay awake all night!

I will let my PCP know that it was recommended for insomnia by your Endo.

The doctors told me to ask them before I take any over the counter drugs.

It seems that some meds will raise my eye pressure which is already high due to the prednisone I'm on and now my neuro tripled that strength.

Blessings,
Marj

Sorry for not using punctuation. It's just called Meletonin. I take it 30 minutes before bedtime. It's over the counter...I buy mine at walgreens and it wasd recommended by my endo.

Yeah, we were just discussing this. I highly recommend Meletonin 30 minutes before bedtime. It has made a world of difference for me.

Funny that you started this subject Pam. Some of us were just discussing it in another area here...lol
I truly think it does have something to do AI diseases because almost everyone of us suffer with bouts of it. But of course it coud be some of the meds we have to take also.

I have periods of insomnia. I'm on a low dose of Elavil so I'll sleep but that doesn't work anymore and the doctor has to find something else.

Does anyone here suffer from bouts of insomnia? I was wondering if it is an autoimmune disorder. I used to think it was because of my PBC. I have been transplanted for 2 years and still suffer with bouts of it.
