I love real comfort food - mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, dumplings, fried chicken...... the exciting thing about Sparks is that I can have all if these, in reasonable portions, balanced with other healthier choices. I have to track what I eat as it gets way to easy to have extra portions!

Each day is a chance to make new choices *hugs*

My trigger food(s) is anything sweet mainly chocolate. People will bring in their left over desserts or baked goods to my office ALL the time. I do try to limit myself on those. When I really want something I will split it with one of my coworkers.

Two thins come to mind. I treat myself to dark chocolate, just a little, before bed. For some reason it makes me sleepy.

Another thing I do is serve a whole-grain waffle topped w/nuts, berries and whipped cream for dinner, sometimes with a few dark chocolate chips, for dinner. It's healthy and decadent! Filling, too.

A goal without a plan is just a wish.

I bake a lot, and I have modified many recipes to cut the fat / carbs / sugar / calories without sacrificing taste. It's taken a lot of trial and error but my family is pretty happy with the results.

I have cut down on how often I bake. Baking day used to be every other weekend in the TrinityRoyal household. Now it's about once every 6 to 8 weeks, which gives us a chance to finish the existing sweets before new ones start to pile up -- and it lets my children know that every meal doesn't have to end with dessert.

Slitting desert with a co-worker at lunch is one way I can have without going over board.

Chocolate is my downfall and I can't even keep it in the house because I know all of my hiding spots. :-) Without chocolate in the house, I really have to want it in order to get in the car or go for a walk to go to the store for a chocolate bar or ice cream cone.

My treat lately has been a cup of raspberries with 1/2 cup sorbet, so yummy!

Spark is all about a healthy lifestyle. We need to learn to make healthy food choices, without expecting perfection. Total deprivation can lead to binging. Everyone has different junk food preferences, but we all have to learn to manage cravings, from cookies and ice cream to potato chips and pizza. For some people, portion control is the answer, while others need to go cold turkey on trigger foods.

Your challenge today is to share how you incorporate food treats into your healthy lifestyle. Do you have a small piece of chocolate every day? Do you have popcorn for dinner once a week on family movie night? Sharing can help you sort through your own thoughts and behaviors, and you may share the idea that works perfectly for a Sparkmate who has been struggling.
